      Android is still on my radar. In fact, one of my most popular videos of all time (th-cam.com/video/__YqPT0GHE8/w-d-xo.html) was all about using Android phones as webcams. There are just so many better Android channels so I'm not sure how much else I could add to that conversation.

      @@pal2tech Chris look into Sony xperia phones, the 1mk III can do exactly that, without needing the extra device, you just plug a straight hdmi to usb-c from the cemra to the Sony phone and off you go. Sony really has it coming for mobile cinematography and mobile crew deployments of live stream.
      I nearly got it myself, except that the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 got me first 🤣 I do t regret it, but Sony has it coming for content creators 😁👍👍

  • @SwitchbackGuitars
    @SwitchbackGuitars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Good stuff! Separate question/idea that I don’t think you’ve covered yet. I learned this the other day and it blew my mind. If you have AF+MF set to On, it defeats the Focus/Release Priority setting set to “Focus”. I could never figure out why the camera sometimes seemed to ignore that Focus priority - and that’s why. Turning off AF+MF increased my keeper rate significantly. Apologies if you already covered this!

    • @SummersSnaps
      @SummersSnaps 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm... interesting, just tested it now and on my XT4 I'm not really seeing that being reflected, I can still see the focus wobble confirmation with it on or off.

    • @SwitchbackGuitars
      @SwitchbackGuitars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SummersSnaps try this - with release priority set to Focus and AF+MF *ON*, focus on a nearby object with a half-press. Then point the camera at something further away and mash the shutter button (don’t pause at half press). The camera should still force focus to be acquired before tripping the shutter. But it won’t, always. It’s a timing thing - if the lens is fast enough and the focus is already mostly there it will still probably acquire focus fast enough, before the shutter fires. But it won’t force it. In the right scenario you will be able to reproduce out-of-focus shots even with release priority set to Focus. Once you’ve done that, switch AF+MF off and try the same scenario…(this is probably less likely to happen with a fast LM lens)

    • @SummersSnaps
      @SummersSnaps 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SwitchbackGuitars Aight, I'll try that. I have a 16/1.4, touit32, 50/2 and 90/2, so I'm guessing the Touit would have the worse AF of the bunch and the best to test this on?

    • @SwitchbackGuitars
      @SwitchbackGuitars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SummersSnaps I’ve been able to do it with the X-T4 and 23/35/50 f2. It’s unlikely to happen if you’re in the habit of pausing at the half-press to acquire focus. More likely to happen if you’re trying to capture a quick moment and push straight through. As you know, the Focus release priority setting is supposed to ensure that you’ll still get focus, but with AF+MF enabled it won’t. I used to always have it enabled because I think it’s a cool feature. But now that I’ve disabled it I find the AF-S nearly 100% reliable even when just mashing the shutter button and not being careful to acquire focus.

    • @SwitchbackGuitars
      @SwitchbackGuitars 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is also with Pre-AF set to off. Pre-AF would probably prevent this issue.

Question 2, would this work with putting it on top of my Hahnel Captur receiver that is on the hotshoe on my XT3 camera? On the top of the Hahnel Captur Receiver there is a hot shoe, so I'm guessing it will work? maybe in some aspects Adam Wilt's "fieldmonitor" app? also, for sony, there's "monitor+" (Chris Brockhurst has a good review on youtube). i dont know if any of these apps record on the phone, but they seem to act like monitoring tools on phones.

      The old model Accsoon M1 is now discontinued, but there is a new model, the SeeMo that works for iOS only (no more Android 😞) but can record in 4K. @pal2tech: is time for a new review! 😁

    Has anyone tried using the Accsoon app with a generic HDMI to UVC?
    It seems as if the app is great but the hardware doesn’t look that special.

    I'll be curious if it will work on my older Samsung Galaxy J700. I wouldn't mind buying an older phone for cheap just to use it as a monitor. Ultimately monitors outdoors need hoods. But for recording to upload, great. Just need better editing software on my Samsung.

    • @pal2tech

      Unfortunately no, as the touch screen controls would not work and/or talk to the camera from the phone. Great idea though!

    no ios? dang for a second there I was thinking I could be checking focus on my giant 12 inch ipad. lol maybe someday.
    question, you mention streaming, could you in theory use a fuji cam to stream to discord?

    • @pal2tech
      @pal2tech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, assuming you hook it into that, you sure could. Or you could use the Fuji webcam app and do the same thing but via OBS.

    Hi, I see very late this review. Thanks as usual 👍🏻. I did not catch a point, only the registration on the phone is limited to full hd, I can register anyway on the camera memory in 4k, is that correct?

    • @LucaCaregnato
      @LucaCaregnato 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, of course, camera recording is independent from HDMI recording. Anyway now the new model can also record 4K on Phone, but the situation is opposite: no more available for Android and now is available for iPhone only.

  • @CptCurk
    @CptCurk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I never had no latency over HDMI using Fujifilm X-T3 anyway... I guess it's because of X-trans sensor, more cpu intensif than bayer ^^'
