For those who don't see a use case: Yesterday I shot a set of videos with my mirrorless camera setup to take home and edit with Premiere Pro. Then someone said: “Hey, can you just give me a quick clip I can send to [important person] so we can see if he likes the lighting?” So I had to haul out the laptop… would have been so much easier with something like this.
Issue with charging iPhone same time is iPhone limitation. IPhone can be charged only by host device while to use a device on iPhone it has to be client device. They have phone charging for Android version.
You can use the MagSafe charger to provide power while your phone is connected to SeeMo. We love to charge iPhone through the lightning connection, but it’s not possible at this moment due to Apple imposed restrictions. You CAN charge your iPad while using the SeeMo. Right on time when I just made a set up to use my android as my monitor. Same concept, MicroHDMI to HDMI to Capture Card to OTG. This looks a lot cleaner, but I only paid at most $20 for all the cables and the Capture Card.
When I first saw this product get announced I assumed it wouldn't work very well. I'm very happy to see you guys make a video about it to highlight how it works. I think the product does a lot of what I'm personally looking for on my 2nd camera or when I want to build out something more light weight. I'm still rocking internally recorded H.265 of a pair of Canon R3 bodies and it works well for me. All the monitors in this $150-250 price range feel pretty plasticky and poorly built with a monitor that's typically inaccurate. So I may end up checking this product out...I like the idea of an iPad Mini being a monitor...hmmmmm. LOL
Of course, this device costs more than my Andycine monitor, which receives a 4K signal and looks damn good doing it. Still, I applaud them for trying something, and the convenience does have value. Also, why did I never hear about the Android version before this?
I agree. If this was cheaper than those affordable monitors, it might make more sense. I guess, since you have the record functionality, but I am not sure if it makes a lot of sense. At least for me.
SeeMo is more than just a monitor! Recording and live streaming can be costly if you also get dedicated hardware. SeeMo is 4 devices in one: a production monitor that you can load 3D LUTs from the cloud, an HDMI recorder that you can edit and share directly, a live streaming device with built-in wireless connections, and a camera viewfinder.
I'm looking forward to picking up the Android version of this (the M1), but there's something I find funny about the fact that I only found out about the M1 due to all the major review outlets covering the SeeMo because it's iOS. I tried looking for reviews of the M1, and the only one I could find on one of the major (by my estimation) review channels was from Gordon Liang.... almost 8 months ago. I'd love to see more of y'all cover the Android version since their software works even with older Android phones (which apps like, for example, Monitor+ do not). I, for example, still have two Pixel XLs (the original) that I intend now to use as small studio monitors for making TH-cam videos, and those phones can be picked up for about $50 now, if someone wants a dedicated setup without using their primary phone. The same is true, obviously, of older iPhones, but I'm not sure how compatibility works in that scenario, and older iPhones tend to be more expensive than older Android phones.
For THAT price I don‘t see the advantage in comparison to even cheaper hardware monitors. AND you will be dependent on Accsoon to keep up with Apples update-and-kill-apps strategie which would make it rather short term investment!

NOTHING can be done about HDMI lag. That’s why I think camera mfrs are missing an opportunity to add value to their cameras by bypassing HDMI altogether and creating apps that will let you tie into the camera’s low-level functions via their USB ports similar to the way that tethering is already accomplished. Not only would you have super low latency image feeds, but you could also incorporate camera controls onto the phone’s or tablet’s touch screen.

I'm more on the photo side, but the 2.8/16-55G is a great little lens in terms of IQ and versatile range. The focus is also very fast and silent, and there's minimal focus breathing. The electronic focus ring may or may not be a problem, depending on what you want to do.

I have to disagree with the Sigma 1.4 recommendation. I have all three, and they're great photo lenses. I especially love the 56mm. All three have significant focus breathing. The AF on the 30mm can make clicking noises at times, and the aperture actuator on the 56 is super loud. I wouldn't go after full frame glass, unless you have another full frame body. While the 16-55 is steep, full frame lenses will only be bulkier and not have as useful of a zoom range. Granted, that all depends on what range you need.
@@philipbloom I know, but when I need to record over 30 minutes it is usually for the dj sets I am performing so the quality isn’t the most important thing.
Hello nice video. for audio can it be recorded with seemo somehow or is it just for video? I work on the street and so I can't bring direction or something like that? Thanks for the help.Alex from Italy
Seems more like a "solution in search of a problem" situation to me. Maybe I'm getting old but I don't get the impulse to cram a phone into every tech situation. A dedicated monitor is going to be the same size, close to the same price, has less lag, and most have options for power out to the camera or other accessories. And I won't have to turn my phone to airplane mode to avoid having a call or notification interrupt a shot.
You're not wrong, but there are use cases for this. I shoot documentaries, and need to travel light. I will always have my phone with me, and sometimes a backup phone for safety (and to put in an international sim etc). This is a much smaller accessory than an external recorder, and would not increase the weight of my setup or take up too much space in my camera bag. Just one use-case scenario that I can think of at the moment, at least
@@vaidehiarts There are a few uses for sure. I try to stay light & compact too, but as just a backup option, I think I would want to avoid carrying a heavy NP-F, and just use the stock wi-fi app. I have a cheap 5" monitor that is certainly larger than the Accsoon, but weighs almost nothing.
@@aldolega Fair enough. Maybe the lighter NP-Fs would work just as well? Wi-Fi has too much lag, I've tried the apps from the companies (I have Panasonic and Fuji). But maybe that will improve in a couple of years with the Wifi 6E or 7 technologies

SeeMo has roughly half the latency of DJI Raven Eye. Calculated from the HDMI input port to the screen of your iOS device, does not factor in camera latency.
It's an interesting device, but it's in the same price range as the more budget monitors like the ones from Feelworld. I think I'd rather just get a dedicated monitor when it comes to that, the appeal of using a phone would be saving money, so I would probably not pay more than 50 dollars for a device like this

Any HDMI USB capture card for as low as 15 bucks will do the same, only without the official app, you just need a USB camera app and screen recorder that's all
Those adapters can only support Android, also with very low image quality and color issus cause them use MJPEG compression with very high compression rate. SeeMo use H264 and the bitrate up to 30Mbps, the image is visual lossless.
I have a BGH1 and there are times when the internal recording formats are fine and I don't need the atomos, a phone would do. However what is the benefit if any in using this device instead of the wi-fi app for monitoring?? I could always use an SD to Iphone dongle to dump the file on my phone if needed.
I think this product will be more beneficial for Mirroless users.. wifi monitoring may consume more battery, which is not an issue for box cameras. Also, other manufacturers' apps may not be as useful as monitoring with Panasonic's App.
Why use adapters at all? We should expect from the camera manufacturer an USB-C output which serves as a standard UVC (webcam) signal to any computer or smartphone / tablet.
I bought seemo yesterday, seemo 's hdmi output on app doesn't match the camera frame rate, always showing 50/60p (camera set 25/24p), seemo also recording the wrong frame rate in app

I honestly just plan on buying this to record over 30 minutes with my xt4
It’s not a replacement for internal recording.
@@philipbloom I know, but when I need to record over 30 minutes it is usually for the dj sets I am performing so the quality isn’t the most important thing.
@@atacant fair enough. I don’t think the X-H2S doesn’t have the 30 minute limit if you want a much more expensive solution 😂
How has it been working for you? Did you end up getting it? Does it record over 30 min consistently?
@@maxvorobey1316 I bought an elgato 4k hdmi capture card instead. The bitrate isn’t super high but seemed like the most cost effective solution.
Hello nice video. for audio can it be recorded with seemo somehow or is it just for video? I work on the street and so I can't bring direction or something like that? Thanks for the help.Alex from Italy
I want to record audio too. How do I mute the iPhone mic for this app? I’m getting feedback.
Do you know how can I start recording via phone but record internally IN camera ?
I'm shocked they were able to get anything out of the usb2 lightning port hahaha
Does it have HDMI trigger rec for recording to the phone?
Not currently
I would just like to ask if I am recording in a shoot, will i need to press the record button on the camera or the phone? And will i be able to easily review my video on the app or phone after recording it. Thank you
DJI Raven Eye does HDMI to iOS. And it does it wireless. Lag seam worse on this than the Raven eye.
SeeMo has roughly half the latency of DJI Raven Eye. Calculated from the HDMI input port to the screen of your iOS device, does not factor in camera latency.
Great Video. BTW I think there's a typo in the title 😀
Its good for photography?
Love the shirt!
Exactly what I need
My sister just found her Olympus Trip AF 30 from 1984 and would love to see a "good-enough-in-2022"-review of it. The camera that is.
;)
I love it. What a cool idea.
Will this work with URSA?
It's an interesting device, but it's in the same price range as the more budget monitors like the ones from Feelworld. I think I'd rather just get a dedicated monitor when it comes to that, the appeal of using a phone would be saving money, so I would probably not pay more than 50 dollars for a device like this
SeeMo is not just a monitor. Recording and live streaming will be very costly if you also get dedicated hardware. It's really 4 devices in one: a production monitor that you can load 3D LUTs from the cloud, an HDMI recorder that you can edit and share directly, a live streaming device with built-in wireless connections, and a camera viewfinder.
I appreciate the innovation
Can I use this with a Sony A6600?
Will it work on Nikon?
How useful or practical for just nature and bird photos? It's hard to review images on the camera in bright sunlight
Can you record both to the phone and internally? This could be a boost to the Sigma FP
Only if your camera can output to hdmi while recording.
Yes, you can.
Is this better or just cheaper than CamRanger?
Any HDMI USB capture card for as low as 15 bucks will do the same, only without the official app, you just need a USB camera app and screen recorder that's all
yes
Also, other manufacturers' apps may not be as useful as monitoring with Panasonic's App.
most wifi apps don't have false color, anamorphic desqueeze, custom luts
And wifi is unstable
@@MrNoipe That's right thank you
I forgot the streaming direct to social media option isn't available in wifi phone apps?? It's a pretty neat bonus if so
Wouldn’t wireless charging be too slow to keep the phone powered? I assume this draws a lot of power.
MagSafe can provide more than enough power
for just 20 bugs more i get a Desview R5II... ok is not a recorder, but the better monitor for shure!
Why use adapters at all? We should expect from the camera manufacturer an USB-C output which serves as a standard UVC (webcam) signal to any computer or smartphone / tablet.
Some cameras do.
iOS does not support UVC protocol.
I want that OM-D shirt
how to charge iphone?
Hey guys, what lens(es) are you using to film on the Sony FX30?
Sony 15mm F1.4 & 35mm F1.4. Great lenses!
@@dpreview They certainly produce a nice image along with the FX30. Thanks for letting me know.
Can you use the android See app on the SeeMo?
You can use Ascoon M1 on Android with any UVC app.
You’ll have to get a splitter in to charge your phone.
Interesting. Is it possible to clamp a Samsung fold phone on this ?
You will need the Accsoon M1
@@nkisystems Thank you
I bought seemo yesterday, seemo 's hdmi output on app doesn't match the camera frame rate, always showing 50/60p (camera set 25/24p), seemo also recording the wrong frame rate in app

What make it better then RavenEye?
It's wired - reliable
yes
It would be great if it could be powered by USB-C as well, then I could just have one portable power bank and charge camera, Accsoon, and the phone all at once.
There are FP batteries with USB-C input for charging.
@@Rambalac Sure, but that's just extra bulk for no good reason. I appreciate battery is an option like with monitors, I just like having a simple USB-C port too.
@@sloanNYC you can use the smallest FP battery with usb-c, the size is two round batteries.
@@Rambalac yes, and that is still an extra accessory, weight, and bulk that isn't needed. just make that 5v output one bi-directional so you can choose. then you can run it and charge the phone at the same time even.
You’d pay $250 for that? I might pay $49.95 if it included free shipping 🤣👍
We will gladly pay $49.95 plus some if anyone can make it for us at that price!
@@nkisystems No doubt, cost to produce matters, but ultimately it’s an hdmi to usb signal converter than can only output 1080p/60 in a world of 4K everything. It’s close, but not $250 close by any measure in my opinion 🤷♂️
What we need in Atomos Ninja built a smartphone size monitor. That's all

For $179 why not just use your phone and screen record?
180$ is basically now the price for not having a flip-out display
Yes the App support flip-out display, just need to tab a small button. The App has all the festures that traditional monitor have.
Frame rate isn’t consistent
this first gen is no bueno. lets see how gen 2 pans out. and I for the life of me can’t understand why they decided to make the thing white and plastic.
180$ +NPF cost? Way to much.
Zcam ipman gemini does very similar things for Android and it's almost a third of the price and doesn't require an external battery.
200$ for this and you might as well just buy a monitor.
Accsoon M1 for Android, $99. SeeMo is for iOS. Isn't Apple's screen better than Android or monitor? iPad mini is great.
Just get a Z-finder. 😄
The Android version is only $99, and makes a perfect camera screen recorder.
The M1?
@@izzieb yes.
I can pick up an actual monitor for that.

Ascoon M1. Even better, supports phone charging

“You’re a shill” 😂
I call it BS: Andycine, Feelworld, etc. having 5.5 to 7 inch monitors priced around the same ballpark. That crap-looking piece of white plastic - that can't even grab an iPad - costing almost 200USD?... and you still need batteries and cables on top of that...
They brought it out just in time for Apple to switch to USB-C next year 😂
SeeMo has USB-C cable included. It works with USB-C iPad now, so it will suppurt USB-C iPhone too. SeeMo passed Apple MFi certification so there is no need to worry about that.
it looks cheep omg
"You're a shill" 😂
Oh awesome, hardware that relies on an app to function, 3 or 4yrs tops and the hardware will be completely redundant because the manufacturer decided not to update the app. Or even sooner if Apple decides to release a major iOS update that breaks everything or removes existing functionality.
The whole benefit of this product is their incredible monitor app.
@@philipbloom Thanks for reinforcing the point I'm making, many companies have a habit of not maintaining the companion apps for their hardware a year or 2 after release, at which point the great hardware you paid for becomes obsolete.
@@MrAllstar that was not my intention. I've been using Accsoon video transmitters using their app for 4 years and they are just going from strength to strength. If you are using the Android version then you can use other apps, as there are no other devices like this for iOS this is the only app that can see a video input. I am really not sure what you expect from a device which is specifically made for iOS, of COURSE it is going to need an app, how else do you think it's going to work?
@@MrAllstar Before making such comments perhaps it's worth doing a little research on the history of the company with their hardware/ apps? My original CineEye works with the latest app. There will be a shelf life though without question, at some point Apple will stop making iPhones for example! If your $170 investment has to be a lifetime one then perhaps you need to buy a monitor? A piece of hardware that if it goes wrong once out of the warranty period then it's a paperweight. You are after the impossible.
Damn it this looks clunky, its cool, but
My advice:
Save 600$ on your phone and buy a nija and a "cheapo" 700$ android device. And save 179$ @ the end to invide your girlfriend.
Android rules, iphone drools.
