After all, the camera delivers a USB signal that the computer app understands, so is there a need for a seperate HDMI2USB conversion? Just a thought..🤔
it might be possible, but would be specific to the manufacturer. I assume if they had a mobile app which could interpret the USB-C data and record, you could successfully bypass the HDMI output

1) You end up with a recorded video file on your phone that you can transfer over to your computer for editing. 2) If you enable it, the sound can also be recorded directly from the camera. Glad it was helpful!

@@kevinraposo the HDMI can record the sound I've learned but it looks like older phones don't have enough power to power the set up. some phones don't have an input that sends power at all. I was very excited to try this but my alternative is to plug the cable into my computer.

Use your cellphone as a video monitor, and recorder. Tested on ROKU and Raspbery Pi. Works perfect for what I need. Captures audio too. I use CAM NOVA on my SAMSUNG phone.

truthfully, I don't know. sounds like a phone-specific issue, as the hardware should work correctly if you purchased exactly what I use. hard to diagnose without being able to see the problem firsthand

Nice video, but the kind of HDMI to USB card used is low cost but also low quality, the recording you get it's not comparable with your in camera one, or that of an high quality adapter, and works usually only up to 1080p 30fps.

If you have a Sony Xperia 1 or 5 you will have an app called External monitor which does this. Don't think you can record though. Not sure about Xperia 10
It's better to use your old phone with canon connect, because I my case the hdmi port is coming in the way of the place were I hold my camera to click photos, if you don't know what I am talking about I have a canon EOS 200d ii

For some reason, the USB out is terrible and capped at 1080p, like USB Live Streaming mode in Sony ZV-E10

The Micro USB connection should not be occupied by the connection to the phone. This solution requires HDMI output from the camera

you are correct, replace the capture card with whatever you like. I only used this one because it's compact and reliable

not possible unfortunately. you would need to use Canon Connect or equivalent app for other manufacturers

Yes, you can. I've used it with a Nintendo Switch before, works perfectly but the latency makes it unplayable
