    The best comparison I’ve seen between the 2. I use to have a 16 R1S but it was sooo slow due to gearing I now have a 17 cbr1000rr and tbh I really don’t like it in my opinion it doesn’t do anything very well it’s just an all around bike so I’ve been considering going back to a R1 but not a R1s or a current gen s1k but then I started thinking well why not throw a h2 and Ducati into the mix 😂. This video at least helped me know that even though I LOVE Yamaha for my type of riding with is casual, commuting, dealing with interstate and city riding I should probably aim for something more comfortable and with cruise control. Thanks again for the info I will definitely be subscribing.

    Hi, great comparison. BTW, did you have to do any specyfic mods to fit that cluch pull lever? Lines, etc.?

    • @MotoMaximus
      @MotoMaximus  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No mods required, you just need to take off the stock perch and replace with the RSC perch. Tuck the electric lines that typically go to the clutch switch inside the control box. I have a separate video that covers the install. One day I will find some time to mount the clutch switch onto the RSC perch, but it’s quite fine without it.

    Thank you for that very informative comparison video. I have always felt that R1's were corner animals! I have owned a 99' and an 07'. I have always been curious about the Cross-Plain and I like the looks of the current R1. I had the 98' ZX9R and I ran into a friend that had a 98' R1, we swapped and that R1 had such smooth strong power from everywhere in the rev band. So when the 99' came out I bought one and it was a beast! I kept the ZX for comfort and the R1 for ripping. Later I picked up an 03' GSXR1000. I had sold the other 2. I found the Gixxer to be deceptively fast, a strong smooth steady pull. Nothing so far was as confidence inspiring in the corners as the R1. I had sold the Suzuki and bought the 07' R1. The next year I picked up the 08' ZX10R after reading the 2008 Superbike Shootout in Sport Rider magazine. Both bikes were on the peaky side powerwise, but once again the R1 was superior in cornering. I kept those 2 for a while and the R1 was for ripping. I now have a 21'GSXR1000R. It has that nice low end pull and I have been eyeing the R1 for a corner killer. Your back to back comparison has made my decision easier. I like the BMW's luxuries, but the seating position and feel may be to similar to my GSXR and your description of the R1 brings back memories. I don't need luxury, I need a corner ripper. Another R1. Thank you. Sorry it's so long.

      You will love the new R1. The handling improvement and power over an 08 will blow you away. I’ve had an 04 R1, moved to a 12 and then on to a 21 and it has been an awesome journey. The spirit of the R1, being exceptional handling, carried on over the generations. Some folks don’t like the cross plane, but I absolutely love the 🎶 it sings.

    Excellent review. I am comparing these two machines specifically because they also had the lowest insurance. The Panigale, ZX10R and RSV4 were much higher. Am thankful that you spoke about the controls, maintenance costs, rear brake. Also the last time i rode the R1 (2018), i recall it being very choppy on the throttle and uncomfortable to ride, but at the time i dont remember it being lower in ride height to my 2014 RR. Seems like things have changed with the ride height. Though as you mentioned, still looks like you sit 'on' the R1 and 'in' the RR.
    Very refreshing to have a smart and practical review rather than just hearing the same old stuff "this bike is great but this bike is greater with a tune, wow what a ride blah blah dopey dopey"

    • @MotoMaximus
      @MotoMaximus  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Spot on about the throttle being choppy on R1. They slightly improved the design on the newer R1s by separating the modes from power delivery. On my 11, if I selected the A mode it controlled the amount of power AND the throttle response. On the 21, I switched down to B mode for throttle response while retaining the power at the highest level. 👍👍

    • @MotoMaximus
      @MotoMaximus  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey hey… to be honest both bikes are perfectly set up for daily riding with the BMW perhaps taking the edge in terms of comfort (electronics) and Yamaha is taking the edge in terms of cost of maintenance. Both will be quite reliable.
      The RR is taller than the R1 no matter what the specs may say. The other thing is that the RR has a taller fuel tank than the R1. Check the video again when I pan from the RR to the R1 and you will see how much the two differ. The tank on the R1 is more comfortable IMO. MPG will be about the same when properly tuned, with BMW being a bit more efficient.

      Appreciate your detailed answer, got your points, for me right now the list went down from 5 bikes to 3 and it is really a headache when it comes to choosing your new and only bike,
      1- Fireblade 2024
      2-R1M 2024
      3-Ducati V4 or { V4R } even though it is super expensive but one of the sexiest bike ever, plus high revving engine which i really love.
      The new 2024 R1M had the best color/carbon fiber scenery since its inception, and I believe after all those years they fixed everything about it hence the reliability is way better than before, heard about the crank failures and gearboxes.
      If you can give me an advise regarding my options I would be grateful.

      @@TIMHARTTT It’s a toss up between a Ducati and a Yamaha. If money is not an issue I would say lean towards the V4. The looks and the performance are sufficient to justify the buy. I had that same decision to make when getting the R1 and for me it came down to cost. The V4 is still on the list to get in the next year or so, I just wish they had a different color option other than RED. 😄😆

    I currently own a BMW and actually love that toggle on the handlebars. It makes switching through screens and changing music so easy. I wish Yamaha would do a true update to the R1. Once upon a time it was the gold standard and they were the pioneers in this category. Right now I'm actually trying to decide if I'm going to pull the trigger on a discounted Fireblade or patiently wait for the 2024. Hey man, im thinking of getting a s1000rr same specs as yours, however my question is, without the dynamic package like yours, does it still have ride modes if i prefer less power like track and rain mode or something of that sort?
    And also im assuming it comes standar with traction control and abs right even on thr very base model.

    • @MotoMaximus
      @MotoMaximus  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the modes are still there as they control throttle response, traction control and so on. The dynamic suspension supposedly automatically adjusts the ride softness and stiffness, which was kind of pointless in my opinion. I’ve never had it on any other sport bike and don’t really need it. Besides, it’s yet another thing to worry about breaking down the road. You retain all the important pieces, and lose all the unnecessary crap. Heated grips? Who the hell needs that? 😃

      Here is the biggest difference between the two: R1 is more natural in terms of riding position, center of gravity and control. RR has better electronics, smoother powerband and better brakes. If I had to take one to the track, I would choose the R1 every time simply because I feel the bike better than the RR. Few things to point out here. 1. The fuel warning message and all other messages should take up the screen, it's a warning, they all can be acknowledged by pulling on the wheel to make them disappear. Then the fuel tank icon is now yellow, it's slick not odd. 2. The bike definitely needs to be tuned, huge HP dips in lower gears and restricted up top too, the bike needs it. 3. That 21k for the RR is a better value compared to the R1M which is 25k and doesn't have as many features. It's cheaper to go for the RR if you want the suspension and cheaper or close to the same as these bikes sit, the R1 doesn't have the price advantage here.

    • @MotoMaximus
      @MotoMaximus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree on 2.
      3 is a relative perspective.
      1 is BS as the message does not need to take up the entire screen to notify you that you still have 30 more miles to go.

    • @Cobradaddy
      @Cobradaddy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MotoMaximus If you're not interested in the extra parts for the 21k S1k then the MSRPS are basically the same, so that's up to preference of what you want. Dressed up S1K is for sure a better value over the R1M.
      If you or the other rider can't take your thumb to pull on the wheel to cancel the warning message, which is trying to grab your attention, then you shouldn't be riding any bike. Such a non issue to complain about. You should be more upset about that R1 dragging on that look since 2015. That's the real issue here.

    • @MotoMaximus
      @MotoMaximus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Cobradaddy I think it’s you that has an issue - I have my opinions, you have yours. Perhaps it’s you that shouldn’t be riding if your feelings are hurt by a random TH-camr. I’ve purchased and ridden many bikes in my life, and currently own 3 in addition to my 9 cars. Being able to hop between different vehicles allows me to compare features between them. Some I like and others I don’t.
      In case you missed it in the video - I really like the RR, thus why I got it… I just don’t like a low fuel warning taking up the entire screen instead of giving me a gentle warning that I still have 30 miles left - LIKE EVERY OTHER MOTORCYCLE DOES.

    I always heard the bmw it's a lot more comfortable than the r1, everywhere and everybody says the same

      The R1 is a racers bike. The S1K is the show ponies take it to cars and coffee and not get their backs to sore bike.
      It's the most overrated bike on the market and no one can convince me otherwise. It's yet to do jack shit in Motoamerica, WSBK, BSBK etc. I don't give 2 shits about all the electronics on the bikes..I want a raw/aggressive bike. I've literally heard guys complain how the S1K is boring to ride because it's so smooth. Yeah no thanks.

      @@mt10-nick66 to each their own but you can't say it's overrated cuz to this day it's the most advanced, and do it all type bike on the market, plain and simple. I love the crossplane sound of the r1 and i'm looking to buy a r1m cuz i think r1's in general probably are gonna be discontinued and i'm already an owner of a 2020 r6, so i love yamahas their reliability, looks, handling and sound, but i have to admit that the bmw it's the better bike, it's faster, looks sick, it's more advance technologically and it has the flex factor, so between the two, yes, the bimmer it's the smartest choice even with it's price tag and if you can't see that then you just very close minded and ignorant, i can tell you also that i have friends and know of people that have the s1k and they fucking love it, so you're entitled to your opinion about liking raw and aggresive, but to talk shit about a bike like that just shows ignorance my boy, no one needs to convince you cuz everybody at the end of the day knows the truth of what i'm saying ✌️ also you talking shit about the guys with s1k that are not trying to get their back sores and you have a VERY COMFORTABLE STRAIGHT BACK POSITION MT10 ! 😂😂😂🤡

      I got my 21 in 22, so at that point is was a previous year model that the dealer didn’t sell, so they were able to drop the price quite a bit and I bought it in the middle of winter here in Michigan which is a slow time for the dealers.. I think that’s the main reason for the lower $$
