Ouch! The poor pitcher looks like he wants to cry , I can't blame him I would too.

If I was the pitcher I'd ask to be replaced. I wouldn't feel competent to throw the ball at high speeds for the rest of the game.

It takes huge courage to step back in the batter's box after something like this. Loads of repect to Stanton.

By the look on his Dad's face, you can tell he knows his son is a badass and will be okay.

You can always tell when those hits are unintensional. The look of agony on the pitcher's face says it all

That's why Stanton now wears a face mask

It’s the balls fault. Not the picture.

Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto, Stanton, Jose Fernandez, and even Dee Gordon. That team had a super-talented core.

I remember watching this game. I was holding my breath the whole time.

That reminds me of when Ron Santo got hit in the face. That's why the ear and check protector on all MLB helmets were invented. I saw that happen at Wrigley Field and that was the most scariest sports event I ever witnessed in my 71 years of age.

God what a scary moment. I can't even imagine the devastation the pitcher feels. The pain and regret. What a freak accident. Looks like a 2 seam that just got away from him and slipped.

Yankees fan here and Fiers is one of my favorite players. He publicly apologized to the Marlins Organization and Stanton himself. It wasn't intentional .

At least he kept his eye on the ball. Hope he comes back 100% next season.
