of course you want to hurt the opponent, make it difficult for him in the game and he should feel and think all the time that you are there and that you will hurt him again.
*but a player almost never intends to injure the opponent seriously.*
bruises, scratches, lacerations and the like, these are the things that have always defined hockey.
the fistfights are almost a kind of synonym for hockey - in no other sport is something like that tolerated.
*but here, too, almost no one has the intention of seriously injuring anyone.*

Just my 2 cents worth: If a player is sidelined missing games due to a hit, the hitter needs to be sidelined for the same number of games. Too many players have their career cut short due to hard hits.

I'm convinced that it wasn't a dirty/malicious hit, just a check that went sideways. Unfortunately, for Kelly, because it's a game misconduct penalty, the DoPS is going to take a look at it. Kelly's a young guy, and I don't think the DoPS is going to do much on him.

@@xtripledee8022 I agree, there needs to be more accountability on the players taking a hit. It seems as though a lot of players turn their back in order to protect themselves but it needs to be taught from a young age to take the hit square on. When I was in minor hockey they had stop signs on the back of our jerseys but a lot of players used that to their advantage to draw a penalty and coaches were also teaching them to do this, which resulted in a lot of injuries.

    • @jordanray6459
      @jordanray6459 ปีที่แล้ว +15

@@xtripledee8022 I’m not sure where this mentality came from. I speculate coaches and players saw an opportunity with the stop signs to gain an advantage by drawing a penalty. I know from when I was playing this is what other teams were doing. My dad was my coach and he was told by an opposing coach he was telling his players to turn when they saw number 2 (me) coming towards them. That game specifically, the player that turned was the coach’s son and he was taken off the ice in a stretcher with me getting a game misconduct. I was 6’1” when I was 14 and I hit hard, when a player turns his back at the last minute I wasn’t able to adjust in time and kids got hurt. It was unfortunate and I felt bad for the kid but it was his dad that caused that imo. I’m willing to take responsibility for making a mistake but that’s a piss poor way to play hockey.

    How is Connor Murphy doing??
Why does nobody talk about that?? Obviously everybody is only interested if it was a foul or not.
Tell me, is Murphy OK or not ??!!!

Nobody likes to see anyone getting hurt out there. But it needs to be said, stop turning your backs when you know somebody's coming!

At the wrong place at the wrong time..Kelly did a normal NHL hit, that's very sad..

People watch hockey for the fighting….then suddenly are heartbroken when someone gets hurt. Genius

People fighting and people getting hurt are two different things. Genius.

The puck passes by him, he turns to make the play and Kelly blindsides him from the back. Yes, that's a game misconduct. Kelly made a reckless play.

So why did Kelly originally go to the penalty box but then leave the game? He wouldn't have gone to the penalty box if he was ejected for the hit. Was it his own decision to leave or did the refs change something? I'm not fully understanding this one.

I think It must have been his decision. Granted some one got hurt but I didn't See anything wrong in this play. But I don't think I could play hockey for awhile either. My heart would just not be in it

Shouldn’t even be a penalty. Too many guys putting themselves in a dangerous position a split second before contact.

Lots of comments saying this absolutely wasn't a dirty hit. Who said it was? An illegal hit is way different than a dirty one. Dirty implies intentional.

Maybe because Kelly was put in the penalty box.

That did not look like a dirt hit to me. I didn't see any intent on Kelly's part to injure the Hawk player. It looked like a clean check to me.

Samozřejmě vím že nikdo z nás takové situace vidět nechce, jenže tady to bylo vážně nešťastné. Myslím že mnohem víc by se měli řešit zákroky kde je vidět jasný úmysl!!

Parker Kelly should’ve known better you can’t do a clean or dirty hit if the opponent has their back towards you.
Even if it wasn’t dangerous but still that’s a suspension and he should’ve used his brain
