- Comparison video of my truck's quarter mile time going from 3.42 gears to 4.10 gears
Test vehicle is a 2012 Chevy Silverado 5.3L 4wd
Mods: CAI, Headers, Exhaust, Tune, 4.10 gears, 3" lift, 33" mud tires
First video is at the drag strip with 3.42 gears which I do not have a Draggy video of or a time slip but I do remember it being a 15.66 time so I edited in a stop watch to visually assist with this comparison. Second video is with 4.10 gears and taken paired with a Draggy. The gears cut off 0.50 seconds!
Draggy device used to measure quater mile times: amzn.to/3wXO7UM - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
I found 3.73:1 my favorite gear. Worth mentioning my Camaro was primarily a street car with LT-1 350 backed up with M22 close ratio four speed. Did 13.8 at 100 mph and had top speed of about 145 mph. Only had the nerve to take it to about 135, still climbing, front end too light at that point.😬
3.73 is great in a light car with an engine that makes good power. Just the 4.10 is so much quicker and snappy great for donute burnouts and drifting not great for highway driving
Can you make a video about the rear gear gourd vine winder and a blue tooth differential
Cool video
agreed
Hey bruh what 4.10 kit did you go with?
I think 4.10’s are a really good rear gear ratio.
It's kinda silly ones on a track the gear's on the street. I guess real world? Then do both real world watch a big difference.
hey plz can u suggest me
i have lumina LS1
second gear is very long
i want to make it shorter
how can i do it?
how do i make it 4.10 because what i am seeing in ur video is 4.10 is changing quicking i want same gear ratio in my car
Yes, 4.10 would make your second gear shorter. But it would also make all the gears shorter. If it is front wheel drive the gear ratios are changed inside the transmission, if it is rear wheel drive the gear ratios are changed in the rear axle
@@APMotorsports0 yeah its rear wheel drive what i have to do? change with computer programming?
Among other things, yes.
Would you recommend daily driving with a gear swap
Depends on how much highway driving you do. I have been dailying this truck for 12 years now and the past year and a half I have had the 4.10s in and although I does help with towing, launch and power, I lost 2 mpg from this too. With it being a 4wd, the gear change was very costly, and I would not recommend it if it's just for power gains. My differential exploded, so I was already going to be in there anyway and decided to change the gears while in there
@@APMotorsports0 thanks
@@APMotorsports0 I have an 07 Silverado Classic(03-06 bs) 4wd, what all would I be looking at to swap to a 3.73? The 5.3 power band really kicks in >2000 rpm, but it seems like my transmission is doing everything it can to keep it below 2k(I'm guessing for fuel economy). Also it seems a little high for towing.
@@logicplague try a 700r turbo trans it’s built for racing but it’ll give me more power than expected
So what was the difference?
0.50 seconds quicker
Waste@@APMotorsports0
@@APMotorsports0 I heard some tire spin on the road run. I bet you knocked a solid second off the time on equal tracks.
A full second on a car that's set up right.
@@APMotorsports0 do you have any dragy 60-130 before and after the gear swap? Any changes in 1/4 mile trap speed?
