Haven’t seen a video from you in awhile and wanted to check on you and your family to see if everything is good and we seen on the tv what happened with the fire and my wife’s aunt lost her life in the fire and what a horrible thing that fire has caused
Thanks for checking but we are safe. I actually live on Oahu. Just been working a lot and haven't had time to film a new video. Hopefully soon. I appreciate the love 🙏
Koyo is Japan - extremely good
Solid precision measuring! 👍🏽
I used a limited slip Yukon on my 1977 Impala for the first time. I raised the rear of the Impala with a hydraulic jack, put it in neutral, released the parking brake, but the wheels turn too hard with my hands, is this normal for limited slip or am I having problems?
Hard to say
I have a 2001 5.3 2wd
Dude I'm so happy you shared this video. I'm about to take on this project but definitely renting a lift from a garage. You've inspired and You've given me the confidence. Thank you so much.
Go for it man 👍
Great video on this, thanks for the detailed insight of the job ahead!
NO STICKER!?!?!
Can i use the same axles with this diff?
@@cristianthashoota5841 yes. I did
is this compatible with a 64 impala??
64's should have a removable 3rd member like a ford 9". Way easier to do because you can put it on a bench and not have to set everything under the car.
Did my exhaust system on my v8 powered GMC safari originally from Honolulu the same exact way you did must be a Hawaiian thing shaka bra!!
How long ago was that? I remember a small block safari in the early 2000s 🤙
Love it and got the Gloria Estephan playing ❤
how much shims to start off with and how big was shim to add the preload that a good pattern...
Rule of thumb is start with what came was there. In my case they wouldn't fit so I took out equally from both sides. The preload means you got the right amount. The pattern will tell you if it's on the right or wrong side. I got lucky and never had to add.
Thanks for keeping it real on your content. Great video!
Appreciate the support 🙏🏽
What measurements did you go with on each side? measuring all my shims now hope to setup backlash tomorrow and be done
I just guessed. The ones that came out wouldn't fit so i took some out from both sides.
@@CheeHooGarage gotcha, thanks for getting back to me
Sup bradda Kaiks, when you do the tune all you did was change the gear size? Never need change shift points n all that
There's an option so that the shift points adjust too. I did that one cause I don't know how to pick my own points. It shifts cherry. But I don't know if I put in the right numbers for the tire size cause I feel like my speedo is off a little. 🤙
Solid bradda, right on thx for being super helpful 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Howzit Kaiks!! Digging the videos! I just subscribed. I just got a 02 tahoe and slowly working on it. I’m in Ewa Beach also 🤙🏽
Mahalos for supporting bro! You got some sick toys. That ipad mod you did is insane 🤙🤙🤙
@@CheeHooGarage just spent the last 2 hours removing wires from old school stereo install lol Ewa is fricken hot hahah
@@sikfiberkationz7951 haha forreals
You know your stuff man. Need to export my truck from the mainland to you 😂
Where you at? Haha I'm sure there are much better guys in your area. I appreciate the support 🙏
@CheeHooGarage Austin, Tx. Yeah man, I'll keep watching fosho✌️
So I’m gonna do a Yukon install should I worry about measuring things?
Not for pinion depth but you still gotta measure preload and backlash.
How much torque did you set the nut to? And what was the inch pounds of rotational force? 😅
it was trying to get it to 15 but it was about 10@@bruhmoment8494
Nice work!!👍
I appreciate the support 🤙
What u recommend for 4.10 for my truck?
Yeah. I went from stock 3.42 to 3.73 and really can't feel the difference
@@CheeHooGarage I meant which brand of 4.10 gears should I go with or are you saying I should go to the next size up my 3.73 gear stock kind of struggles with my 33s. I put my Stocks back on to tow my trailer around.
@@fashionrider712istunthi9 4.10 should be good. Yukon gear is good. There are cheaper ones but I don't know enough about them. Or Richmond gear was the pick back in the day
@@CheeHooGarage also should i even bother with the dura grip posi? i got the rpo code (g80) posi/limited slip. not looking for the best performance i just want it to tow better. i could just swap gears and leave the stock posi in there? or is the stock stuff trash and i should do it cause im in there anyway?
@@fashionrider712istunthi9 either way. Totally up to you.
So I have a question I have a 3.73 gear ratio on my 2001 Chevy and it states it’s a g80 so a limited slip what’s the difference between stock and the Yukon posi unit
It does the same thing but internally built different
@CheeHooGarage hello sir! Hey I have a 2002 Escalade ext and I followed your video how to install a radiator electric fan and I got it running but the AC line is freezing up and can you please help me step by step? I removed the pin 55 from pcm and put it to pin 17 and the 17 tap it to low pressure switch ground and my AC compressor isn’t working at all. What should I do?
@@akatkdboi what you mean tap it in to low pressure switch ground?
@CheeHooGarage can you please tell me what I need to do how to prevent having my ac line freezing up? Please thanks.
@@akatkdboi tell me how you made the connection
Anybody else run into this issue??? It seems the pinion shaft is goimg to be too big for the outer bearing?? By like 20 to 30 thousands??? Hoping i dont have to take it to a mill machine shop.
That's way too much. You sure you got the right parts?
Same thing im going through right now what did u do to make it work or did u got get a different bearing?
What's the actual measurements?@@ethanryan8668
@ethanryan8668 you know what, I was totally incorrect. I apologize. Got my numbers messed up and read the numbers wrong. The day after this I went to a machine shop my dad knew and they measured it. And said it's how it's suppose to be. I just finished the diff a few days ago. At 150 miles now and it's running good. Had to reshim the carrier to push the carrier closer to the left side,(driver side) . Had to do about 3 to 4 different attempts with the marking compound they provide. Having a caliber meter really helped with finding the right and closets shim set up . I bought a big bearing remover from harbor freight to redo the inner pinion bearing. Bought a Newton meter from auto zone(14$). Rented rear axle bearing remover. Rented a race and bearing drive set.
Hit me up bro with any questions, I'll do everything I can to help you because I know how stressful and time consuming this all is. But I can share what helped me
@CheeHooGarage also Ethan, there was a couple papers I printed from the internet that had picture on different gear mark patterns that can help quite you when figure out what's right. Let me know man, I'll check this religiously for you bro
Why didn't you use the old crush sleeve?
Because they aren't meant to be reused. Especially on a different pinion
