I daily mine, soon I’ll be installing a built trans and bigger converter. I’ve already purchased a 3000-3200 stall but tempted to go with an fti 3600 to not loose much rpm through out the shifts.
Makes me miss my WS6. These cars are so simple yet perform so well with basic engine work. It definitely seems like she was a little quicker on the first converter, but you could easily just change the rear gear and make up for that easy enough. I liked the 3.23 when I was on the bottle but on motor it left something to be desired IMO. My car was also an 02 and it had a GMPP hot cam, OG FAST manifold, longtubes, and an off the shelf NOS wet kit. Behind a Monster stage 2 4L60 and Yank 3200 converter I was able to run consistent 11.20s on 100 HP jets all night long with the thing. I never turned it up any more than that before I sold it, but It would have no doubt dipped into the 10s if I put the 150HP jets in the kit. These cars are basically timeless and hold up well even by today’s standards IMO.
I agree with them being timeless. I think they are my (and possibly your) generation's classic. These, and the 03-04 Cobra Mustangs are what I think will become the most desirable from this era.
The cam is a mid/high range cam, so the lower stall allows the full powerband to be used. Very large stalls are for very large Cams that keep the rpms very high all the time where the larger cam makes all it's power
It probably broke because you’re stall speed was wayyyyyyy too high for how low you’re cruising rpm’s are with that talllll gear. Constantly slipping that clutch putting tons of heat into.
Not sure why I’m here but the sound alone was worth it 🫡

Never scene a patc break. Impressive!
Seems faster with the lower stall too lol it really boosts off that 1-2 shift

How would that break when it does a 13 second 60-130.
This is a good question. This car has maybe 350hp, and the converter was rated for 800hp. This is why I changed manufacturers

lmao people still call these stall converters.
Are you wetarded?
Technically it’s a torque converter but dude, they’ve been called “stalls” or stall converters for 70+ years…. Ain’t nothin about to suddenly change 😂
