Ambient temperature changes 1/4 Mile time
Some draggy times I recorded in my truck. I was curious as to how much outside temperature would change the 1/4 mile time. First run was done at 73 degrees, second run was done at 48 degrees. I will probably test again when it gets back into the hundreds. Both test were performed at same place. 25 degrees made a .3 and 2mph difference.

      It depends on what the outer diameter is of the tire, not the wheel. This vehicle stock had 31" tires w/stock 18" wheels and 3.42 gears. I went up to a 33" tire w/stock 18" wheels and 4.10 gears.

    Hello man, i see you made this video few years ago but maybe since then you find out new things. I have a Opel Zafira B 2008 1.9 diesel and i want to change just a little the sound that muffler exaust makes from manufactory. Add a little bass to it. Not something loud because is not racing car but i drive it like one😊. I want just by adding a tips in the end of my pipe witch i have to take it out each year when i go to teating for emissions. Here you are not allowd to bring any changes to the car otherways you dont get accept to drive it. Maybe you can teach me something or someone that read this. Thank you

      Tips more just change the tone of the sound, not the volume. If you can't hear it very much to start with, then you will not be able to hear a tone change from different tips. I suggest changing the Muffler or if it has a resonator to change that.

    So I have an 09 tahoe with short tube headers. Long story short, highly don't recommend. If you want performance benefits get long tubes. If you don't care about performance, but like the sound, get long tubes. On my tuck it sounds the same as factory manifolds and no performance added. There probably is better exhaust airflow, but in real life, you can't tell.

    • @APMotorsports0
      @APMotorsports0 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure who, but someone a long time ago made an article of factory vs short tube vs long tube headers on an engine dyno. They said that short tubes was maybe 8hp gain at peak, and then long tubes was 25hp gain at peak but 45 hp gains down low. This was my friends truck, and he had the short tubes laying around, so we installed them for the sound gains. But yes, I agree, short tubes have very little sound difference and almost no performance difference.

  • @how_long
    @how_long 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Whats the purpose of the hellcat air box? My thought was the hellcat air box would have lessened the AIT. Judging by the video, it doesn't look like it changed the temp. Is there a way to test the volume of air taken in by the air box?

    • @APMotorsports0
      @APMotorsports0 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought the "tube" portion would act as a Ram Air and cool off Intake Air Temps but it didn't do that at all. Theoretically, it brings in more volume of air but I don't think it's even necessary in a 5.7 application where as the Hellcat requires the extra volume. Still a cool and affordable mod I think, though

    • @ThisisForTheTV
      @ThisisForTheTV 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The difference is when it's been heat soaked from idling then start accelerating quickly, the IAT will drop much more rapidly than stock helping reducing knock from high load and high IAT events. The "ram air" instantly fills the airbox with near ambient air instead of vacating the heat soaked air volume. He should've made a video of the car idling for 10 minutes then put it in drive and accelerate quickly to show how quickly or slowly it takes the IAT to return to near ambient.

    ITS NOT THE TIPS!!! Its the placement of where the exhaust comes out. Notice how "no tips" essentially turns it into a dump exhaust which reverberates under the car, where as the tips stick it behind the car for a smoother sound....

    • @APMotorsports0
      @APMotorsports0 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do think placement is a contributing factor, too. A lot of exhaust that is "dumped" under the vehicle sounds deepish. And I have heard some that the exhaust extends way past the bumper, and it screams. I wish I could do a test with the same exhaust setup and same tips but just have one "dumped" under the vehicle, and then another extended like a foot past the bumper.
