Now THAT is a harp section! I love how you can actually hear them, and that the conductor gave them the first bow!
The pedalling of the harps in this his horrific. The feet are doing just as much work as the hands. That's probably why the conductor gave them first bow. Wagner admitted he really didn't know how to write for the harp. The harps are essentially doing what he wrote for the piano.
I've seen the harps normally staged off center for Wagner. This placement of harps and their elevation made it easier for people not trained on the harp to actually hear them.
What an array of harps, as rare as hens’ teeth!
0:21 look at how in sync they are with each other! Amazing.
Always in awe of Richard Wagner!
I have an obsession with this music. Its very fantastic sound.
Yes
Lol, me too, Magic Fire Harp is AWESOME
Sehr gut musik
Esecuzione meravigliosa di una pagina di Wagner tutt'altro che semplice.
Che meraviglia!
Between 1:00 and 2:00, there's 3 tunes playing at once.
The lively fire theme on the harps, the descending "sleep" theme in the strings, and the "vocal" line on the brass.
I generally dislike it when they leave out the vocalists, but it's great to hear the all the orchestration.
Beautiful ❤️☺️🎹🎵🤝🇮🇳💐
magnific magic fire music.Only Wagner .
Sublime music, beautifully played.
Astounding well performed obstinato in the strings and harp section. BTW dead right on the money... EU flag is that of Nibelheim ruled by Alberich-Brussels.. Loge Hierher
Splendid! Beautiful music and beautiful playing.
wagner is the messi of music
Increíble sección de Harpas!!
Proprio magnifico 👍😀
Grazie, anche molto bello da suonare in orchestra
💜💜💜💜💜
With so many harps lined up, I can only imagine a textile factory, it's like an industrial one.
Muchas gracias.
Why is there no Wagner, Bach, Beethoven or Mozart in our times anymore?!
TV? Movies? A simplistic culture?

What a brass.
WAGNER INVENTED MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK!
Oui c'est magique et ensorcelant !!!
Excellent.
Wagner es unico!.....su musica transmite una fuerza sobrehumana no hay nada parecido ...uno cree que esta en ese mundo de dioses...de leyenda.
Bravo!
💜
superlative version
1:01 Wer meines Speeres Spitze fürchtet, durchschreite das Feuer nie!
Where's the complete performance? Live performances of this are rare, and even more rare on youtube. BTW...the brass has been considerably quieted down for this performance.
Drummer “i have nothing to do.”
hi mark
NO EU but Wagner`s music, hell , yess. Magnificent. Was there
🎹 Sadly, the conductor did not bring out the glorious melody line, which got lost in an ocean of Wagerian sound.
Lovely!
Shame about the arrogant EU flag - the epitome of Alberich and the reduction of all else to Niebelungen hordes! - completely at variance with the whole philosophy of The Ring; all the lovely personalities of the orchestra was what Richard Wagner was about - no one before or since did what he did to raise the status and dignity of musicians or dedicate so much time to charitable concerts even while himself quite poor.
Fascist shit!

Who/what?
Myself? or the EU? or Richard Wagner?
Your phrase can cut in three directions - perhaps more!?

Ah!

European Youth Orchestra?
No! The size and dominating effect of that flag reminds of the 1930s.
The flutes and piccolos are far too loud, the harps are wasted by putting them at the back of the orchestra, how stupid conductors are.
And too fast
The beginning, and this is the most difficult part
