Sometimes it looks fast, yes. But I have played it with several conductors and each of them was very different in the speed. Anyway this video is about playing it in orchestral audition, and, of course, in those cases it would be better to show your technic abilities, how you can manage in the speed, and how you "feel" the fraseggio even without the orchestra.
The first part is excellent, perhaps a touch fast, the second part is a bit slow and not even in tempo. If you do this again, work on the second part more.
Thank you for your suggestion. I was based on my playing in my past concert in the European Union Youth Orchestra with Maestro Claus Peter Flor (and also many conductors) where they start the Magic Fire Music quite fast, than in the cromatic passage they slow down and than keep a slower tempo.
After that, I kept in my mind the fraseggio of the melodic line of the brass, or the singer. I guess that when you play an orchestral passage you must show that you know what's happening to the entire orchestra, how and with who you should have the fraseggio.
