    Thanks again for your beautiful advice!! You know in Ukraine we have all of it)) this is really interesting, I mean as our general meal: sour cabbage ( we have so many recipes without adding water, natural fermenting in its own juice) and kefir ( just we put full milk in warm place, not direct sun, and we having milk with pure bacteria, without any additives even from pharmacy, here we are avoiding them, because loving natural things)! So great to find perfect person who are from nature))) and using recipes of our grandfathers ( from Ukraine too, lol) and our root’s knowledge, wise ones!! Thank you for spreading and sharing ))))

    I loved this! Very helpful. Questions: How often do you filter through the gaps stages? How long have you been doing gaps? It would be great if you could do a "what I eat in a week" for each stage. Love how your showing those with littles how to help encourage them to drink the broth. Do they get tired of the meals? Do the meals keep them full or do you do snacks for them in between meals? Once again, thanks for helpful content! 🤗

      Thanks, I'm so glad! This is only the second time that we've gone through the intro stages. The main reason is that I'm taking training to become a certified GAPS coach, and one of the requirements is to go through GAPS intro. We're all doing it because I figured we could benefit from it. Great idea to show our week of meals! I'll add that to my videos to do :) They actually don't get tired of the meals! I do try to add as much variety as I can, which helps. But they enjoy it! They also eat a lot at meals. And, I find that they stay full between meals and usually don't need snacks. :)

We raise organic, pasture fed pigs and our butcher gave us the option to smoke the bacon and hams. We are preparing to start the GAPS diet and I would really appreciate your help. Would our smoked pork be GAPS approved or should we forgo the smoking?

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think I just replied to this somewhere else also :) That's great when you can be in control of the process! It depends on what they use to smoke them. You want to avoid all artificial flavorings and preservatives. If all the use is natural wood smoke, it should be fine :)

    I love this video. Thanks for sharing. I just subscribed to your channel and I am embarking on stage 1 of the diet so I am just really getting started. I have two questions: 1) Do you use a berkey water filter for your water for filtering all water for the gaps diet? and 2) do you include a teaspoon of fermented veggies/ sauerkraut with each meat stock meal right from the start of the diet?

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Yes, we use the Berkey to filter all of our drinking and cooking water. The amount of liquid fermented food to start with is very individual, and only your body can tell you the right amount to start with. Some people can start with a teaspoon, while others have to start with one drop in an entire pot of soup. I have a free class here on starting GAPS: my.demio.com/ref/2znHBvku8txu1OSd

    Dear marissa may i ask you where the stainlesssteel cups with the straws are from. My son always needs time to drink his broth which will get cold after time. In the first stages of Gaps you need to drink a lot from the fermented juice for example from sauerkraut but how do i get a lot of it? There is not enough liquid from making sauerkraut that will last several days and meals...

    Can I ask how long it took your family to get through the Intro stages of GAPS?

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of us have been through it more than once, so it varies! I recently did it myself a couple months ago, and it took me about a month. But it's very individual! My son was on stage 4 for about 9 months before moving to full GAPS.

  • @damarispena57
    @damarispena57 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How long do you stay in each stage through the gaps diet?

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's very individual! Most people are only on stage 1 for a few days to a week, and stage 2 is where a lot of the healing happens. Only your body can tell you when it's time to move on. If you add avocado and old symptoms come back, you're not ready for stage 3 yet. You have to go back to stage 2 and spend longer there. Hope that helps!

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have been reading and trying things but keep defaulting to our awful American diet. When I try things, I realize I’m never fully prepared. A big part of the GAPS diet is to make the stock and I get that part but I can’t wrap my head around preparing the sauerkraut, beet kvass, etc. Do you have any suggestions how to add those preparations into your day? It looks like after the meat broth is started you work on one extra thing. Does that sound right?

      That's a great question! Part of it comes with practice. It definitely gets easier as you go! I try to batch prepare things. So like you said, when I'm already in the kitchen doing meal prep or whatever, I'll start stock going, and then work on something else. For fermented items, you don't have to make those every day. I will often pick a Saturday once a month or so, and make a few different fermented vegetables. The dairy like kefir and yogurt you do make more often, but those are so easy. I store my ferments on the kitchen counter while they're fermenting, and then I'll move them to either the refrigerator or down in the basement. I hope that helps!

      I've never tried that! Dr. Weston A. Price saw very healthy cultures who did it, though!

    Sounds like your grains are dead. You should get new ones.

      Really? I asked Monica Corrado (the GAPS chef) about it and she said if kefir is still being made, it's okay... but I think I will try new ones just the same.

      Try leaving just milk out and leaving the kefir out and see if there is a different. You could just be making sour milk. I have suspected it before with my grains and I got new ones and I was right my new ones were so prolific they grew and grew
