    My kids and I are starting Stage 1 next week. My eldest son has autism, my younger son is hyperactive, and I have a variety of food intolerances. I read the book, and tried the full GAPS diet several months ago to see what it would be like for kids, and within 3 months, my doctor took me off my thyroid medication (I had taken thyroid medication consistently for almost 10 years). There is definitely something to this diet, and I am looking forward to seeing how it helps my kids! Thank you for posting these videos.

    Thank you for confirming my thoughts on how grass seeds, hay fever and Coeliac disease are linked. For years, my skin would react to grass seeds when I mowed the lawn or even laid down on the grass. I'd get nasty hay fever for years during spring and autumn.
    I remember telling my old coach I suspected I had Coeliac disease ten years ago. I told her that if grass seeds affect my skin so badly, imagine what they are doing to my intestine. She responded I was being melodramatic and ridiculous.
    Seems not. Having rid myself of plant matter, I no longer have hay fever, reactions to grass seeds and a soothed intestine.

    Hi Marisa! Lovely to stumble across your channel. I have a 6 months baby who suffered from severe gas and colic from birth until about 5 months old and severe eczema from 3 months old and still ongoing. Doctors couldn't help us and actually convinced me to stop breastfeeding as part of their advised healing regimen... Which didn't work. So I started looking around for alternatives and around a month ago found GAPs protocol and at 5 and a half months started to wean my baby according to GAPS. We had very good initial healing, with 80% eczema gone, but the last 20% still remaining. He is now 1 month in the weaning process and I am just looking around for other people's experience with gaps and babies. Nice to meet you.

I believe it will be very helpful for him and you. They can heal so deeply and quickly when they are so young. I did the GAPS weaning with my son at 7 months, and he is now two years old. I'm so glad you're here! 😊 💕

    Thanks for the helpful video. I am going to give this diet a try after 30 years of fighting eczema and asthma. I was raw vegan for years and when I stuck to it, all my issues went away. It was a really depressing diet to follow though and I never ate dinner with my four kids because of it. I saw your lovely radiant healthy glow and I thought I should try it because of that. I made my first tallow balm last night. Even though I rendered it three times, it still has a bit of a beef smell to it. I added lavender, frankincense, geranium, and vanilla. I wanted to note that in the middle of Canada, it is illegal to get raw milk from a farmer. If we own a cow, we can't even serve raw milk to family coming for dinner. What are my options?

      You’re very welcome! I tried vegan for a while, too. You’re right, it’s hard to stick to! Nourishing traditions foods are so much more enjoyable and socially compatible 😊 Sometimes the tallow can have a beef smell if it got too hot while rendering. Did you use the wet method? Wow, that makes it next to impossible to have raw milk! 😞 Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride recommends having cultured pasteurized dairy if raw isn’t available. Non homogenized is best. I’ll be talking more about this, too 😊

    Two years ago i got an allergy attack from peniciline. Tremendous hurt in the stomach, ive never had so much pain. Been 24hours in hospital to be cleansed so the medicine would leave my body. In the next following two years, hell broke loose. Unable to walk - a form of fybriomialgia, sour muscles, pain pain pain everywhere. sleeping during the day, exhausted, depressed, fell during football, a hernia, on heavy painmeds like zaldiar and lyrica . . . AND a bloating stomach, as if i were 8 months pregnant. A constant reoccuring diarrhea, my psoreasis outbreak went three times as much . . . gasses in my body everywhere, burping, and all the rest . . . and just a heavy feeling of not being able to walk. Moving my legs is horribly. If i eat something, my stomach HURTS.
    been a few times to the hospital with these complaints. they cant find anything they say. no infection, no aids, no hep C, blood perfectly fine. I got mad, i thought, but what do u think i am a hypochonder?? I think its - on top of all the previous i mentioned, a lactose and gluten intolerance. Because doctors give me shit to reason with. I am going to try this diet.

    • @liesmies6280
      @liesmies6280 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so thats why i am here, trying to find out what is wrong with me. the last two weeks i got eating lactose free and it helped, the pain got less. two days ago i ate some normal integral brown bread and since then pain came back and i swear my neighbors can smell (and hear!) my fartings.
      There is something seriously seriously wrong in my gutts, yet doctors cant find anything. no soar, no infection.
      What i do find remarkable however is that lately i have a very great urge for meat. I can just eat 4 steaks and a whole chicken without anything else. this Gap diet explains a lot. If doctors cant heal us, we have to do it ourselves. Hope to see more videos from you x If my story can help others that have the same symptoms . . . i hope it does.

      Just one little thing I recently learnt Marissa. Some people are very sensitive to plant's natural pesticide toxins they make : eg oxalates, lectins , saponins and salicylates. Some people have to do NO PLANT GAPS . Sadly, even herbal teas may be out for some, as mints and ginger contain a lot of salicylates. My son had serious salycilate issues. I wonder if lemon verbena is OK?

    I want to go back and do intro again as I got into a really bad habit of eating a little square of dark chocolate every now and then, and I haven't healed so I think I undid my own efforts. Can I jump straight in with the kefir and saurkraut? I have been eating this way for a long time and my gut is definitely better however I still can't eat a lot of foods. I recently started doing a zeolite protocol and had massive herxheimers reaction so I think I'm still toxic from leaky gut. Sticking to it 100% this time!

      Going back sounds like a great idea! And don't discount the progress you HAVE made - that's really good :) Yes, Dr. Natasha says that if you were already having fermented foods before intro, you can keep those same amounts. Sending well wishes!

Or is it going to be okay to give her things like these high histamine meals such as chicken soups/broths etc? 🙏🏼

    I'm just interested about this bad flora of your gut and how this diet fix this. But can you force this by doing shankhaprakshalana, when you just remove all the flora from your gut by drinking salted water and doing some exercises, until water goes through your gut, so you drink water make exercises util water which comes out from you becomes transparent. And after that when you start GAPS it's should go much faster theoretically isn't it?

    Thanks for your helpful videos on this diet! I'm on the intro phase 1 (2nd day is almost over). But I'm even more bloated then normal. Is this normal and I should go on to the next phase? I'm a bit confused because the whole intro phase is about healing, so it's not to be expected my bloating is over before I enter phase 2?

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're very welcome! It's normal to have symptoms like that at first. Things often will flare up a bit and seem a little worse before they get better. This is a healing crisis/detox reaction as your gut flora adjusts. You want to stay on stage 1 until your digestion starts to get better, and then move to stage 2. Hope that helps! Sending well wishes your way!

      @@BumblebeeApothecary thank you! I don't mind to eat like this for some time, especially to heal my body. I just find it really difficult to get enough calories in, I'm already pretty small. Would it be oke to add fat to the soups?

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I did! I was underweight before GAPS, and it helped me gain weight. I especially was able to gain weight I needed when egg yolks were introduced. You can add fat in the way of sour cream, ghee, tallow, duck fat, etc.

    So I just started this book...I am looking into doing this for my whole family as I see we have some symptoms of leaky gut! How long does someone follow GAPS diet? Should people be doing it regularly(like once a year) based on our environments/stress/etc.? Just a newb with questions ;)

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! Usually people do the GAPS diet for about 2 years. This can be shorter or longer, depending on how deep the damage is. After GAPS, Dr. Natasha recommends going to a full Weston A. Price style diet, and not going back to processed food and a standard American diet. She also says it's good to go back on GAPS intro anytime you have a stomach bug, come home from traveling, or feel like your gut needs a reset. Hope that helps!

    This is soooo helpful. I have a question. Do you know if its okay to do GAPS while pregnant? I'm 12 weeks and my symptoms are alot crazier than last baby. I know it's because of pre-pregnancy issues... and I'd like to start healing asap. Just wanted to know your thoughts on GAPS while pregnant. Thanks!!!!

    I’m a tall guy but very lean no fat, and the main thing I struggle with is getting enough calories. Do you recommend adding animal fat? Maybe rendered fat? I would still be looking at consuming 100grams a day to try and get enough calories. Don’t know if that would be okay.. 🤔Cheers

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! Eating enough animal fat is actually essential to healing on the GAPS diet. Tallow is a very gentle animal fat with a lot of great nutrients, especially when it comes from grass fed beef. It is usually well tolerated by just about anybody, too. Hope that helps!
