when i used to play sc broodwar with my uncle we used to do 2v7 ai - absurdly easy by comparison obviously - and that always felt so great when we actually did it. this reminded me of that alot and was a great nostalgia trip
Technically speaking this would've been a tiny bit harder back when Infested Terran were still around, as the AI isn't programmed to use microbial shroud.
Awesome Video. Congratulations. Well done. :) 38:00 Sometime depending on build, some AI won't surrender while they have defensive structures (turrets etc.) and enough money to make a drone.
Woooowww more then a million views!!! You deserve it, i never knew how your personality was before you did the Zerg videos. I now have 3 races to see. Lowko/pig zerg, Harstem protões, and uThermal as terran
My mate used to be able to beat 7 AIs allied against him in StarCraft: Brood wars. It was impressive but we didn't think much about it. (essentially it was the big game hunters map and he perfected his tank defense + battlecruiser wipeout of the enemy) I guess that would make him a grandmaster and world record holder today hehe.
@@songhan1586 You got no idea what you're talking about mate, he was playing buildup not rush like in this video... By endgame enemy was sending ultralisks and carriers, although by that time he had to have eliminated half the map otherwise he'd be wiped when the guardians came.
A brief look didn't reveal anyone else mentioning these things so somethings that might be helpful in the event that you revisit vs terran or toss: partial walling and repairing particularly ebay type walls, A repairing unit gets the same aggro value as whatever it is repairing. Since ebay aggro value is down in the basement (which is why they were working so well as walls) I would wager with reasonable confidence that probably 2/3rds of the damage the ebay walls took was actually splash damage from tank fire, 1/3rd being from blocked melee troops and a functional 0 damage from AI ranged troops. Because the AI is going to try to move to range of something it wants to shoot if a firing line is positioned behind an incomplete wall (ideally passable only by single file as far as the gap is concerned) and comes into range while in the gap of a wall they will stop and attack instead of finishing passing through. Sort of an inversion of the gap positioning by protoss players. This also means you can repair an ebay wall while just being ignored by the AI; the ranged units are intent on shooting over the wall and the melee units are trapped on the other side. Sorry if the explanation is garbled. You can see GGG using these methods a number of times in his various campaign challenge runs. I am assuming that campaign AI and melee AI is broadly the same but I think that should be a fairly safe bet as far as an attack waves methods are concerned.
Amazing video, well done! Also wanted to say, feel free to make videos on "older" challenges that may have been beaten by others already, the way you tackle them and your commentary makes it worthwhile, and hopefully wont require 71 freaking attempts!

This is a insane challenge and you handled it massively well. Good Job and you have gained a subscriber today.
In a extreme efficiency situation like this wouldn't it make the most sense to 'hat' all your supply depots? It seems to me that a hat (if not destroyed) is like giving you 100 minerals. Also, I think mules usually dont finish their last mining trip so I think they cost you 35 minerals each if you dont micro manage and stop them before they do that.
tl:dr built up his four bases, then simultaneously defended and contested the gold by manipulating the ai until he had literally forced the ai to exhaust every single resouce on the map before his own resources completely dried up. Then, once the constant streams of enemies ran dry, just trampled the bases. Well done.
Ran some quick numbers: The combined AI lost 370,050 resources to uThermal's 21,962. (total lost on the map: 392,012) Of the resources lost, AI lost 94.4% (5.6% for uT) Well played uThermal, great commentary and a great achievement!

Holy crap! Pop the champagne man!! My most proud Starcraft moment was back in the SC1 era, where I managed to defeat 7 random opponents, lol! But only ever with Protoss and on a big game hunters map, or whatever they were called. You know the one that had eight bases with a sh*t ton of minerals and gas in each one. And like an unlimited worker cap on each mineral patch and like six or eight gases per base. And all the bases were peninsulas that joined up in the middle. Like an octopus!😁😋

22:00 Correct, I didn't see how it's being set up in SC2 's Campaign AI Editor, but in Warcraft 3 they have this certain army quota they need to achieve before they start sending their waves of army attack and in Warcraft 3 I can only see there is only up to three tiers of army waves with the final third being their largest+most costly army wave. The next waves (4th, 5th and so on) will just repeat this third wave's army setup.

I know nothing about StarCraft but I like how you do the thing. Really shows you know what you're doing and your explanation commentary sounds very helpful. Congrats on the win!
when i used to play sc broodwar with my uncle we used to do 2v7 ai - absurdly easy by comparison obviously - and that always felt so great when we actually did it. this reminded me of that alot and was a great nostalgia trip
Technically speaking this would've been a tiny bit harder back when Infested Terran were still around, as the AI isn't programmed to use microbial shroud.
uthermal didn't make any air units, so not sure how AI could've made microbial shroud useful anyway
he made liberators
@@theduke3778 oh.
Awesome Video. Congratulations. Well done. :)
38:00 Sometime depending on build, some AI won't surrender while they have defensive structures (turrets etc.) and enough money to make a drone.
Kerrigan has been real quiet since this video dropped.
Well done ! I'm very impressed you managed to do that against AIs using any builds
(essentially it was the big game hunters map and he perfected his tank defense + battlecruiser wipeout of the enemy)
I guess that would make him a grandmaster and world record holder today hehe.
it wasn't hard to do on broodwars. here its insane
@@songhan1586 You got no idea what you're talking about mate, he was playing buildup not rush like in this video... By endgame enemy was sending ultralisks and carriers, although by that time he had to have eliminated half the map otherwise he'd be wiped when the guardians came.
The AI came a long way in the 12 years since Broodwars. So did the game play, so did the community, so did a lot of things.
Every time he says look at my face *has the same exact face*
You single handedly keep me into StarCraft
Absolutely legendary seeing so many Zerg breaking against the siege tanks.
I’d like to see a arcade part of your channel. I think it would be really interesting to see a pro play some tug of wars and other fun games.
"I did manage to kill my neighbor."
Jesus will not be happy my dude.
Wow. Congrats. Awesome run and thanks for all of the attempts that we didn't see, that it took to get here
Amazing video, well done! Also wanted to say, feel free to make videos on "older" challenges that may have been beaten by others already, the way you tackle them and your commentary makes it worthwhile, and hopefully wont require 71 freaking attempts!
Thanks so much for this - I never play PVP since my eidetic memory has me remember every cheese and nasty reactions for weeks and some of them forever... this is so fun to watch a PVP Champion that I respect a lot completely SMOKE 7 Cheater AI ... actually insane. I'd love to see this VS Toss
CHEERS THERMY AMAZING JOB THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!!
Very well done Thermy, you killed it, I'd like to see more of these because this was very fun to watch however don't kill yourself on it especially if it isn't possible. This was very well done. It might be like speedrunning now that the dam has burst and people know it's possible there might be optimization and a lot more success and strategy improvements but I think your strategy improvements have been massive
You sound like a bot
Great video. Also interesting to see a compilation of unsuccessful games with your conclusions after each fail. I hope the progress itself is very interesting here.
Congrats on the world record Man! I really enjoyed this challenge, as I'm sure all of us did. And hell, of course I'd like to see you try against other races and also against random. But no pressures, its just for fun ;)
I love the mark of Khorne in front of your command center.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! :D
I'm glad that there are people like you that are so good at the game. I struggle a lot with this game even with how much I enjoy it.
Congrats on the world record attempt. I haven't played or watched SC2 in years but even from my somewhat naive perspective I can see that this is quite an accomplishment. I'm always excited to watch people wrestle with the impossible to find their limits.
Those huge waves of enemies constantly incoming to your base was like the cover photo battles for the game boxes. It also reminded me of the campaigns when they keep sending endless attacks and you just have to last X amount of time to win.
Now its time for 1v7 Insane AI w/ Ghost only
Imagine the relief some of those Terran units experienced when they realized they weren't gonna die XD... Time for that beer boys....
beer wont cut it dude. they need something stronger LMFAO
@@brotoss9687 That night they barbequed a whole feast of zergling legs and Totally trashed the bar.... Dance parties everywhere... Music and booze... Marines showing off kill counts... Injuries and deaths where low.. moral never higher.... They even captured an injured ultralisk and took turns bull riding it
Zerg aren't edible mostly.. but Terrans discovered zergling legs where tasty and safe as long as you cooked them properly... Kinda like chicken ... But you gotta marinate the hell out of it because it's very tough otherwise... And it's best to pre boil it first ... Helps make it tender... And theirs less metal fragments to pick out... Beats MREs... Those things are terrible
Don't worry about the metal fragments... That's only the zerglings that got hit by tanks... And we usually don't collect those... Nothing left ... LoL... And if you happen to swallow one... The nano bots implanted in our combat suits will take care of it
@@ghoraxe9000 hahhaha imagine a footage about that night lols. the party goes wilder and wilder, till the morning. and when its morning imagine uthermal as their general shows up like '' aight gentleman we are off this planet, we got another impossible mission. only this time enemies are not bugs but robots.''
damn its stressful to be a part of uthermals army let me tell you.
I don't even play SC2 but this was great to watch and a fantastic achievement, well done!
Amazing achievement! Well done!
To be honest though, after 71 games in all your other challenges you make them look OP/simple too. You are a problem solver through and through. Very inspiring.
Thanks for the content.
this guy is basically doctor strange, he lived through every possibility till he got it right
Amazing job! So cool to see all the special knowledge you have to to be able to do this. Really impressive!

challenge i used to work on completing every week to keep me ready for a match at any time was going from 1v1 me verse hardest ai to 1v 5 me verse hardest ai's. 1v1 to 1v3 fairly easy but once you get past 3 that's when it becomes a difficult challenge. This is a insane challenge and you handled it massively well. Good Job and you have gained a subscriber today.
Congratulations, what an awesome game. More of this, please!
Now do 1v7 only Ghosts ! :D
Yes, of course we want to see vs 7 toss, vs 7 Terran and vs 7 random. This is so satisfying to watch. Great job!
Definitely would love to see runs with other races. 1st choice would be your best against the other races but your off races would be cool too
Grats! this video is so nostalgic, like when you play against 7 zergs in big game hunters in sc1.
tl:dr built up his four bases, then simultaneously defended and contested the gold by manipulating the ai until he had literally forced the ai to exhaust every single resouce on the map before his own resources completely dried up. Then, once the constant streams of enemies ran dry, just trampled the bases. Well done.
Ran some quick numbers:
The combined AI lost 370,050 resources to uThermal's 21,962. (total lost on the map: 392,012)
Of the resources lost, AI lost 94.4% (5.6% for uT)
Well played uThermal, great commentary and a great achievement!
Awesome video! I remember watching stuff like this from beastyqt and didn't realize how much I still wanted to see challenge videos like this. 😀
32:19 had me die...
The "Protoss goes Brrrrrrrrr~!"
😂🤣
Congratz man ;)
we obviously want more of this ^^
Random guess: 173 turrets. AMAZINGLY done, mate!
I don't even play starcraft anymore and I am literally captivated. Great video, great commentary!
Awesome gameplay, awesome voice-over commentary and awesome job. I'll subscribe for more of this content!
Great job!!! Really enjoyed watching that whole video and the commentary! Thanks uThermal!
Great video! Got a lot of fun wathcing it. Thumbs up for 71 attempt, it sounds like nearly impossible things to do
So much fun watching you explain the AI mechanic & your counter strategy....and the most importantly is how you execute everything inside your mind....I never get bored for watching your video
This video is INSANE! Congrats on the achievement, dude, you definitely deserved it.
I played sooo much SC during my school years this video is a joy to watch and reminiscent of younger days
Havent really watched almost any Starcraft gameplay content, but i'm a sucker for challenges, and it was really cool to watch!
I loved just sitting here listen to this guy be an absolute beast at this game.
So well spoken. Loved it. You're a smart man.
This is next level starcraft - makes me want to play it even more! What have you done?! Amazing job.
shit i didnt even know you had your own channel..... ive loved your style ever since those big reaper plays back in the day. hah you really showed them and seriously changed early game meta pretty hard for years because of that. i salute you sir! thats a like and an auto-sub!
Awesome, looks kinda like those custom Arcade maps where you gradually fight a map packed full of Zerg (Crap Patrol 2).
Back in the day, there was some games in local wher my buddies and were were fighting endless swarm zerg IA, only struggling behind our defensives lines. Loveable nostalgia
I respect the intense focus you carry through this whole thing brother
great job!
Thanks a loooot for the effort, that's an insane game, so fun to see :D
I have never watched StarCraft at all and I thought this entire game was sped up until he said the game was 38 minutes long, i though he was narrating in 2x speed. Absolutely incredible how fast he is managing everything
that was absolutely filthy. thank you for reminding me how bad i am at Starcraft.
Congratz, dude. Was very fun to watch.
As always really impressive stuff !!
a death compilation for this challenge would be awesome!
this was amazing uT. I havent played in years, but this makes me want to play SC2 again :P
Your video made me question my ability to read human emotions through facial expressions.
- "I am looking a bit upset here", also he *literally poker face*
- "And here as you can see I look scared", also he *literally the same poker face*
I just randomly clicked on the recommended video because the title sounded interesting, I was like 40 min video maybe I will just check out and then go on watching the full video. I literally had no idea what the game was or what is it. Still, all the sections and commentary are really worth watching and very easy to understand the strategy behind everything.
