Forgot to mention which attempt this was indeed :P I dropped it for a long time and after I came back to it this was the 8th attempt, I think I did around 10-15 attempts before so that would make it about 20 :)
Challenge idea: You and one AI from each race vs 6x INSANE AI from each race. As in:
You and 1x Terran or Protoss or Zerg INSANE AI vs 6x INSANE Terran or Protoss or ZERG AI.
The catch is: you can only play supportive. You can't attack unless you partner AI does so and you only attack where they are attacking. So no Divide and Conquer.

Suggestion to try this challenge with Big Game Hunter mode where resources shouldn’t be a problem and you actually have to kill the AIs while defending.

Wow!! I thought it would be closer to 100 attempts but I guess after all the other challenges you have done, you kind of get into a groove and learn the A.I.'s behaviors and reactions. Still BRILLIANT feat of skill, strategy, and speed! Great Job as always!

Love how uthermal looks more serious about this than any tournament in history.
I think it's probably actually easier to recover from mistakes in a pro tournament than in this challenge. It requires a long period of high concentration.
I'd love to see you play through the Nightmare campaign(s). It's way more difficult than the brutal difficulty. I'm gonna watch anything you post tho :)
Even if he doesn't I just want to see thermy do the All in mission nightmare. That is the most challenging one.

PiG did 1v10 Hard, which us easier than 1v10 Elite which Therm has already done, which is easier than this 1v7 Insane Cheater. The interesting thing about the new challenge is that it's a speed run, so you have you figure out how soon you can move out and win.

@@taylordcraig That was 1 vs 10 Elite AI which he already beat. The Elite AIs play fairly, but this chalenge is vs insane AIs which get extra free resources and have map hacks. And 1 vs 7 insane AIs is harder than 1 vs 10 Elite AIs, so it's not surprising he already did the latter.
Hey thermy! Thanks for the vids. You often mention during these that "you would be killed by an A-move mega-army", but it's really hard to visualise because you make it look easy.
I would LOVE to see an edited compilation of some of the armies that killed you. Just the last 20-30 seconds of each time they killed you, edited over benny hill music 🤣

YT recommended one of these challenges and since then I'm HOOKED on his vids, incredibly joyful, fun and overall enjoyable content, even tho I suck at this game so much - I have many great talents, multitasking is NOT one of them. Anyway, Thermy has become one of my favourite content creators here.

I believe there are AI tournaments out there where developers program an AI and have them battle it out in sc2 (think AlphaStar levels of AI). I think if you could somehow play against those that would be a super entertaining series!
Definitely not alphastar levels but it's certainly always interesting when people do that.
There are videos of harstem fighting them and he won like the first or second match he did. The AIs are really not that smart, they just use micro tricks and patterns that should counter most things but you can still abuse their weaknesses, which is way harder with Alphastar because he actually adapts kind of.
One challenge i think would be interesting would be 2v6 w/ random easy ai as ally and they must have at least 1 mining base at alive throughout the game. the idea of having a partner that literally exists to handicap you might make for an interesting dynamic and early game turtling gets a lot harder when you have to defend further from your main.
i really like this idea, but. I think this would be to punishing and not fun. There isn't enough resources to defend a handicap and yourself. You would need to aggro and kill off enemies early to find resources, but that is nearly impossibile against multiple AI unless your pre-scripted. Not saying its impossible, but I feel like the wiggle room is very tiny, and might be nearly inhumane to actually perform. Just like the TAS speedruns.

Was disapointed at first that it wasn't one of the usual challenge videos today. But as I've been watching every new vid I decided to give it a try and oh boy, I was on the edge of my seat for 40 minutes ;) what an amazing vid, thanks marc!

These videos are always so fun! It would be cool to try this with some more advanced AI's (like in the direction of AlphaStar, although IDK if there's anything like that that exists) to see if you can find clever ways to exploit those. Would also be cool to see how your strategy evolves over the iterations attempts for these challenges, although that would be a lot more editing work!

As you mentionned some other challenges, I did myself one inwhich I won vs Elite AI with every unit of the game (monobattle) requiring also to macro build till 200/200 and 5 bases as a minimum.
Only Exceptions are of course medivacs, obs and any unit with no attack at all (you can make an AI gg with mines, infestor or phenixes, no need to destroy all buildings, there is a trick)
I'm obviously not a pro or ex-pro gamer so this challenge is good enough for me, but you could adapt it your way I guess x) some are quite hard (mass sentry was actually way harder than I thought cause no dps)

Vikings only deal bonus damage to terran buildings, they are the only ones to have a mechanical tag. Zerg Structures are biological, Protoss structures are actually neither, they are just tagged as Armored - Structure. (in coop mode they do have a mechanical tag so SCVs can repair protoss structures there)
Love this video~ for future AI challenge, I'd recommend either the nightmare difficulty campaign or COOP solos on some of the harder mutations (there is an arcade map that lets you play on maxed out commanders if you don't have them in regular game). There is actually list of solo challenges and some of those are insanely hard.

I got a video series idea suggestion, you can make 3 gold players play against 2 diamond players for example. Just make different leagues play against one another, but in other quantities. Like 2 master players, against 5 bronze players or so.

around the year 2001, at approx 9 years old, I installed sc + brood wars and D2LoD on my parent's Dell pc.. I still remember booting up the AOL connection and going into BW. I had absolutely no clue how to play, got destroyed in my first match, and never played again lmao I started D2LoD since my friend played it and I never did go back to try sc again

It blows my mind how many things you have to do and the speed you have to do them at in order to succeed at something like this.
It would be nice to actually see your failings as well, even if you dont upload every full attempt you can make a compilation with extended clips. We are humans we love to see the failings of others its how it is 🤣, although im pretty happy and always acknowledge the grind to success that you have. Just some food for thought :)

Congrats! Definitely would love to see more AI challenges in the future. Have you tried 1v7 Elite AIs to see if the early game strategy is different? I've noticed it's easier to bug out the cheater AIs since they have maphack. Maybe if that's too easy you could add unit limitations like you mentioned.
Now if we do a deep dive into this, since Cheater AI's constantly move to counter your build and since Siege Tank Liberator is effective against it's own counter in every race, theoretically the strongest Terran comp is LiberatorTank. Possibly a new climb to GM in order to test that?
Playing through the campaign on challenges, max difficulty, etc would be fun to watch as well

And I still struggle 10 years later to do the last mission on WOL brutal... only achievement left.
I find it cute how the AIs are programmed to say "gg" when they surrender, lol. Like, it's a huge culture thing between human players, but to go out of your way to make even the AIs type it is funny to me. Like, how does a CPU player even know what a "good game" looks like heheh. Anyway, amazing content, I've watched all of these AI challenges multiple times!
