Judging by the title of the third movie, I’m guessing Miles will ascend to a higher plane where he’ll meet the Master Weaver, the one who threads the lives of every Spider-Men, the who set the thread of canon events into motion to streamline Spider-Man stories and Miles has him alter or remove that and everyone is set free
The canon event thing really isn’t a retcon it’s more of a movie exclusive commentary on certain fans expectations of the Spider-man character and compulsive need to categorize everything as canon or non-canon
@@Kid_Dyn0mite Maybe, but I just really wanted to talk about it. It also shows a 616 comic panel, Tobey, Andrew, and Spectacular Spider-Man when explaining canon events. This led me to believe it at least affects them if not all Spider-Man adaptations/verisons. Either way, it sucks!
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero - I'm pretty sure that their presence there just adds to the arguement that the movie's just making a commentary about the current state of the franchise. And it doesn't suck.
The thing about canon events tho is that they might be exposed as fake next movie, there’s a lot of plot holes when it comes to them and hopefully Miles can prove to Miguel that canon events can be disrupted
For the canon event, I think it's meant to be a commentary on Spider-Man fans who are so defensive over the brand, that they refuse to accept any version of Spider-Man that doesn't follow the same exact story beats over and over again, and that every version of Spider-Man needs to follow exactly on a list of rules and restrictions in order to be seen as a "valid" version of the character. A lot of critiques of the movies for example, are people constantly judging whether or not they're accurate to the original source material. It's also partially why Miles himself gets a lot of hate from the fans, due to how he's still a relatively new character, therefore isn't really held back by the same rules and restrictions as different versions of Peter Parker has.
In fairness, ATSV already shows you that Miguel lied about canon events (or at the least, he falsely believes that they are a real thing) when Gwen realises that her dad turned down the captain position and thus won’t die
In my opinion, while I'm not sure if it's a retcon, my least favroite change is the whole "May Parker" thing from Superhero Squad. To explain, in Marvel Super Hero Squad Online, there was a character named May Parker. She had the Sensational Suit (minus the mask) had spider powers, and called Spider-Girl. so she would be May Parker, as in Peter's daughter, right? Nope! Turns out, she's actually his cousin who conveniently also got spider powers and made a Sensational Suit. If it just stopped at Peter's cousin, I would have had no problem. But they themed her around Mayday so much, and i have an idea of what was happening. Eventually, Mayday did get added to the game in proper with her black suit, but i'm not forgetting about that.
For the canon events, I'm almost certain the next Spiderverse movie is gonna have the plot revelation that Miguel is just flat out wrong (As an example of proof that his logic is flawed in context; if each Spider-Man loses an uncle and a captain, who was Maguire's captain? They mention the events of No Way Home, so Raimi trilogy is in this multiverse. And if it's really either/or, how does Miguel really know that any Miles universe would need both? Theoretically our Miles has already had his canon event with uncle Aaron, so as far a Miguel is concerned, under the logic of consistency with canon events, the captain is optional and Miles is fine)
I liked the one story where gwen stacy is dead, dead. but gets brought back to life by venom, after it bonded with a dying spiderman. it's such a dark story, but it's probably the one story where gwen stacy coming back is actually good
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero i linked it, I think yt took it down....basically venom bonds with peter and they become poison...I'd try looking up spiderman poison
9:32 i was thinking like- theres NO way that spectacular spider-man would just.. ACCEPT that Gwen and her dad are going to die. It's so out of character.
Pretty sure in across the spider verse, canon events aren’t a real thing since one, Spider-man india’s world was being destroyed by spot and what he did than what miles was doing. The other line of evidence was when gwen went back to her universe and she found out her dad stop being the police chief after gwen left, even though the canon event for a Spider-Man is that a police chief close to Spider-Man is meant to die. And the last piece of evidence is the alternative universe where the spider came from isn’t non existing or being destroyed, but it’s still going and is now just a cyberpunk dystopia where Spider-Man wasn’t there to save anyone. So I’m pretty sure the movie is leading the audience and the characters to the conclusion that canon events aren’t real and that the spider people can do whatever they want as they aren’t bounded by pre determined events.
THANK YOU!!! Someone who doesn’t like canon events. i don’t hate them in the bubble of the movie but as an idea that could fit for all spider men, i hate it. Also the crazy thing about erasing Peter’s marriage is how popular stories are in which he is married, it feels like spite to say we can have this but we won’t. We had renew your vows and now ultimate spider-man be well received and then we have Nick spencer run have it end with Peter wanting to propose to Mj but then their relationship goes down the drain in Zeb Wells…
It's clearly an editorial mandate at this point, likely cemented by Joe Quesada & his acolytes. There's no other reason for them to keep doing this for so long.
About the canon events, if they were true, Miles’ universe would’ve collapsed already. That world’s Peter wasn’t meant to die and Miles wasn’t meant to get bit and become Spider-Man. That spider wasn’t even meant to be within that dimension. Yet their world is perfectly fine and has continued on for almost a year. And then later, as Gwen’s Dad quits for her. Their world wasn’t collapsing either. Plus if the Miles of Earth 42 was meant to be the one bitten to become that world’s Spider-Man but that bite got interrupted, shouldn’t that world have collapsed too? Another hole in Miguel’s logic is timing. When he took over the life of that other world’s version of himself, he talks about it like he had a significant amount time with his daughter. But if canon was real, wouldn’t be breaking apart almost immediately after he took their place? Why wasn’t it collapsing as fast as Pav’s world? Why was it different? The film itself has given us enough evidence to prove they’re nothing concrete.
One of the retcons that I, personally, like the least, is symbiote changing Peter's personality, or being evil in general. In the original comic Symbiote's only "negative" was that it took his body for nightly joy-rides to fight crime while Peter was asleep. In the original "church" scene the Symbiote even dragged Peter to safety when he detached it with a bell. And in the original it's Peter's actions that are the reason for the Symbiote to bond with Eddie and become Venom, not because the Symbiote was always evil. I think it really makes Symbiote and Venom more shallow as a character when it is deduced to "I made Spider-Man evil and almost destroyed every Peter's social relationship by making him an insufferable asshole, so after he threw me away, I'm gonna be evil as well", because originally it is Peter who was a dick to the Symbiote, not a Symbiote who made Peter a dick. Not to say the arc with Symbiote alternating Peter's behavior is bad on it's own, it can be executed greatly, if the author keeps in mind that Symbiotes goal should be making it's host life better, the ways the Symbiote could choose to accomplish set goal, is what could make the arc interesting.
Respectfully, I disagree. That was a very good retcon because a) it makes Peter less of a jerk for ditching a living creature when all it did was help him, b) it explains why Venom is a murderous vengeful rage monster, and c) it adds much more depth to the stakes of the symbiote. The 90's show I believe was the first one to do this idea and it did it very well imo. Peter's selfishness is wanting to do what he wants instead of what's responsible is such a compelling way to explain why Spider-Man does what he does and why he remembers Uncle Ben's teachings so validly. Until the 2017 show ruined everything as always.
@@GuyWithTotallyCalmTemper88 Yeah I agree, personally I think it’s one of Spidey’s best retcons since it adds so much substance to the original version of the story. Just wish that newer adaptation would slow the pace down a little bit. Lately it seems like the symbiote story gets rushed so they can get to Venom. Also, I think I like the symbiote being portrayed as a naive alien more than it being portrayed as an inherently evil alien. The animated series is goated!
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero It’s not really naive, it’s just trying to do x10 whatever negative traits any character has. The symbiote goes on Spider-Man and it makes him feel like he has no responsibility, this is because Peter wants no responsibility that he’s burdened with. Eddie has a hate for Spider-Man and has a traumatic/abusive past so the symbiote lets him get revenge on the world. Cletus is just crazy and the symbiote lets him be crazy. It’s mostly the symbiote latching on to the poisonous traits of their host’s personality and x10-ing that. Newer adaptations suck at this because they made Venom much less of a redeeming character and much more of a big ol’ rage monster in stuff like Spider-Man 2017 or Spider-Man 2 2023. There’s no arc. Venom had one of the best hero arcs and they stripped it away for just “big strong black alien”. If that’s considered a good adaptation of Venom then Sony isn’t thinking of Venom, they are just thinking of Riot with a Spider symbol. Ofc the older stuff like Spectacular Spider-Man, the og 616 retcon, etc had some very good and strong stuff.
5:09 the totem thing makes more sense if they applied it to all MARVEL characters with all the heroes and villains being iconic impactful beings across the multiverse. Not so much Peter being destined to be The Spider hero he just happened to be the one to become that hero. Like to me the totem of the Star is Captain America, the Armored Totem is Tony, the Thunder totem is Thor, yadda yadda blah blah etc. That way they could weave it into ALL the major players being tied to some grand fate destiny shizz and just makes Peter another player in an ensemble rather than some chosen one.
3 questions 1. How do you feel that Jason Todd got resurrected back in 2005 as Red Hood since you didn’t like that Gwen got resurrected since her death is one of Spider-Man’s greatest failures, along with Batman’s greatest failures being Jason’s death. 2. How do you feel that Nick Spencer reconed Sins Past in his Spider-Man Run ? 3. How do you feel about Batman having a brother named Thomas Wayne Jr ( he was also Owl man in Crime Syndicate universe ) and would you like to see that relationship explored more along with Peter’s sister ?
Not gonna lie I'm more of a casual fan when it comes to Batman. I really only know the common sense stuff and the synopsis of a couple of stories. if I say something wrong feel free to correct me. 1. I think Red Hood is cool. Batman trying to get through to him and apologize is great and them fighting and rekindling their relationship is great. Gwen coming back permanently might not be as interesting. They would probably put her in a love triangle with Peter and Mary Jane which I kinda don't like or make her go off on her own without Peter which I also don't like since she was so important to him in the earlier stories. They could make her a villain like Jason since she hates Spider-Man but I'm not crazy about that either. I don't think there's any reason for her to come back especially since Marvel won't let Peter be happy with a girl for long anyways. 2. Deserved, glad it was retconned. 3. I didn't know Batman had a brother. I would have to see what he's like to form an opinion but if the character adds to/ improves upon the story sufficiently then I'll probs like him. Also, I would love to see Peter have more of a relationship with his sister since he doesn't have that many family members around. It would be nice to see more of her as a side character, my only problem with her is that she feels very inconsequential to Peter's personal life.
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero what did you think of Miguel’s backstory in across the spider verse at least ? Would you still keep his backstory intact if the main conflict was Miles getting bitten by the spider from another dimension ?
@@comicbookking3446 Yeah, I like the backstory I would probably keep it but just adjust it for the new conflict. maybe in my hypothetical, he would have seen something like that happen before. He would know of a separate Spider-Person who got their universe messed up that way. Someone he was close with to make it even more personal to him (like a version of his daughter or something). Or he could have purposely gotten bitten by a spider from a different dimension while trying to become Spider-Man 2099 and ruined his universe.
Yeah I kinda agree, miles set-up kinda works better as a successor to peter rather than a working side by side. Even if i like the them working , I think the idea that miles is this character who has to carry on the legacy of spiderman, works a lot better. Also what I like about into the spiderverse is that they changed his origin to where its like miles could've helped spiderman before he died but decided not to because he was scared. And also uncle aaron is a way more sympathetic character, and chooses to protect miles rather than listen to kingpin. Literally all of the miles stuff before the multiverse stuff happened in the movie is my ideal version of miles' origin.
Something that also got retconed was how the symbiote now effects peters personality and makes him more aggressive. After the '94 cartoon, it pretty much retconed to now be that which sucks so much and yet everyone thinks it's always been like that when it never was.
I liked Spider-Man Beyond. People shitting on it are usually just mad about what Zeb Wells did after. People like to act like writers are bad over one bad run. Also Teresa goes hard.
Another thing that bugged me about Spider-Verse 2 was they made Spider-Man 2099 very out of character. Also in the original Ultimate Comics Miles’ Mom is the one who dies not his Dad.
9:44 Thing about Canon Events is that it's based on The Web of Life & Destiny, which shows up in the movies. If you want to blame anything on Cannon Events, blame the Creators behind Madame Web & The Web of Life & Destiny. Fun Fact: The conflict of the topic happens in the Original Spider-Verse comic in 2014, but switch Miles for Otto Octavius, and Miguel O'Hara for Peter Parker. This can perhaps enhance your perspective on Otto's Spider-Man.
I think the thing about the third spiderverse movie is that canon events are just myths that Spiderman 2099 believes in, his world being destroyed for other reasons
I wouldn’t really say they’re all out of character because of the canon events. To me it makes sense that after going through so much, they’d believe Miguel when he told them there was nothing they could do. Knowing that things could’ve been different makes it harder to accept tragedy and move on, but if there was no other way, then you just have to take it as it is and move forward without having to put in too much work yourself. And for the younger spiders (like Gwen, who also is pretty much homeless) and for the ones who’ve especially been through a lot, that idea would clearly be very appealing.
I don't think Spider-Man would give up after being told there's nothing he can do. I could understand a couple Spider people being on Miguels side but in the movie it's almost all of them. They're forced to be out of character for the plot. Everyone except Miles.
I think the Canon event is fine, because it's very clear that it's supposed to be a metaphor. Why did Spider-Man Unlimited suck? Because it didn't follow the classic Spider-Man formula, the canon events, so it got cancelled. Miles is supposed to be the new generation, and if the canon events are the scripts of the past, Miles is the writers of today, being forced to tell the same story rather than making their own with these characters.
I don't think bringing back Gwen or Ben changes what Peter has learned. It doesn't take away from him at all he learned those lessons and it been a lot of time in story since these things have happened.
@@KonEl17 I wouldn’t say that it takes away from what Pete learned either, but it does diminish the impact of their initial deaths. I also don't think they can’t figure out a way to make their resurrection work. But in 616 they haven’t done this yet. They usually just end up using this concept for shock value and then end the story with them being dead again. I was talking about that in the video. That’s why I think they should just stay dead in the mainline comics.
Canon events being flawed are by design Miles in his universe was never supposed to be spider man especially with that spider but he did anyway and his universe has been fine proving that maybe canon events might have been bullshit all long
I can understand your point on the canon events but I don't think it's fair to fully judge this since we only know essentially half the movie. The story isn't complete and with Miles trying to save his dad, Gwen and the team being on miles sides and there might probably be another explanation to why the universes that Miguel tried saving got erased. You have to remember Miguel only believes in canon events because that was the closest connection he made to why a death of a universe happened. Its essentially a theory but its best to wait. EDIT: I was typing this while watching and just got to the part where you acknowledged the potential of the next movie changing the canon event idea lmao
Praying. I PRAY. That the sales of the new ultimate Spidey shows Marvel that Peter CAN still be the amazing character he is WHILE BEING A HUSBAND AND A FATHER. Spider-man is meant to be relatable to life. And growing up and getting more responsibilities like being a husband and father is a part of life. I really don't understand why Marvel thought it was a good idea to take away that aspect from 616 Spidey and instead make him relatable to Sneako with how hard he's getting cucked. Hoping one day shit changes.
2:26 How does that even make sense? Aunt May was a teen in that story so there’s no way she’d be so old in Amazing Fantasy 15 if they wanted to make it canon. Did no one think of that 🤦♂️?
Yeah that’s the reason it can’t be canon the timeline makes no sense. I didn’t say it was canon in the vid I just heard that it originally was supposed to be but idk. Either way it’s so crazy that I had to talk about it bro.
Why did they have to undo anything that way? Stories reboot all the time: if they're afraid of changing the thing, just use a alternate universe and use that for development if they HAVE TO constantly have him frozen in place..instead of treating the original like trash. Building him up just to stomp him down....
The worst thing about canon events is that, if you read any cosmic marvel stories, you would know that Miguel’s theory is whack and was disproven many times. To put the cherry on top, Miguel and his two closest allies are prime examples of Spider people that didn’t experience Peter’s events. P.S. personally I would have included Peter’s parents being spies that fought red skull and met wolverine. I will admit though that the Spider-Man movie novelisation took this crappy retcon and turned it into a very emotional scene.
Just a reminder that the new Ultimate Spider-Man is outselling the current run of Amazing Spider-Man. It may be because they gave Spider-Man a happy marriage and a family
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperheroAYYY I got a response even before I finished the vid. I can’t wait till you do you cool asf. Love learning more comic stuff, I’ve been collecting comics for a year especially everything from that new ultimate universe it’s so cool
Personally I think spiderman isn't just one of but is the most popular superhero especially counting today's generation where if you look at the stats he has the best/most accurate representation across all media only rival is probably batman but I think batman kinda had his era with alot of movies and games and now we're in a spider mans era.
I agree, I don't like canon events for the same reasons why I don't like the TVA in the MCU. If everything is planned and destined to happen, there aren't stakes. But... Spiderverse isn't a finished story yet. As far as we know Miguel is wrong. We can't know for sure how the Spiderverse works until we get the final film.
Wait, let me guess. Uncle Ben didn't die, he's actually alive. He got teleported by aliens to their ship and then they made experiments on him because they want to escape the dictatorship of Kang who keeps the timeline the way he wants. But then the TVA arrived but, by the time they came, Uncle Ben had already been cured and got psychic powers beyond imagination. But, after beating the fuck out of the TVA guys, Miguel O'Hara showed up because he was supposed to stay dead and he brought reinforcements. Now Uncle ben needs to fight an army of Spidermen but most of them don't want to fight Uncle Ben because he's Uncle Ben. That way, the spidermen start fighting each other and Uncle ben, with his mind reading powers, finds out that most of them are Peter, so he learns that Peter is in danger because of his suppose death. So he teleports to Peter to talk to him but his sudden apparition is enough to make Aunt May have a heart attack and dies. That way, Peter gets absolutelly pissed and go up him. Feeling guilty as hell for being responskble for Aunt May' death, uncle Ben accepts his destiny and let Peter kill him. But begore he was able to do that, Odin intervenes because the immense power from Uncle Ben caught his attention and he want to weaponize Uncle Ben as the new Destructor. Uncle Ben thinks that is a good use of his powers so he accepts. However, he can't just let Peter behind like that. So Odin, using his divine powers, brings Aunt May back to life, erases both her and Peter's memories and then brings Uncle Ben to Asgard. There Uncle Ben now serves as the new guardian of the universe. However, the TVA arrived again and Uncle Ben had an epic fight against Kang. Did I get it right? Is this one of the retcons in this video? (I just made all of this uo but I wouldn't be surprised if this actually happened in comics given the ludicrous amount of characters in Marvel who die and then come back as super powerfull beings)
Fairly sure beyond the Spider Verse will reveal that the Canon Event theory is wrong, and I have one major peice of evidence to this. 6160 The new ultimate universe is practically the antithises to the Canon Event theory; Norman Osborn and Aunt May died before Peter became Spider Man, I think Richard and Mary survived at least to Peter's adolesence, Peter became spider man as a 30 year old husband and father of 2 not a 15 year old kid, and perhaps biggest of them all UNCLE BEN IS ALIVE! I don't know if Earth 6160 will be referenced directly, but I seriously doubt Miguel will end up being right. As an aside, I hate canon events for a reason beyond Spider Man; the multiverse, at it's core, is infinite potential so as far as I am concerned any story that tries to say "in the multiverse _this_ always happens" my hackles are immediately raised because establishing rules for the multiverse is the antithesis of how I see the multiverse. The idea of _some_ universes running on the same rules is okay, but the idea of the entire multivese having the same rules? No. Just. No.
2:24 Wait so what she somehow gave Mary the embryo Peter? Or if she didn't how did Mary not know that she didn't give birth to Peter? Like what? 7:11 Yeah, a lot of the new multiverse stuff have introduced these anchors for the multiverses. Canon events, Anchor beings. It just doesn't make sense. All it's doing is taking away the diversity of the multiverse. Like if all these universes need these specific things how different are they really? I hope in Beyond the Spider-Verse we find out that something else is actually responsible for Miguel's second universe collapsing, and he sort of made up the canon events to explain this away. After all, seeing that a lot of Spider-people experience very similar traumatic events, it's logical to assume that they're connected in someway shape or form. After all, Tobey is canon to the Spider-verse films and he hasn't experienced Gwen's death or anything alike. The closest we got was Goblin dropping MJ off the bridge but he saved her.
Canon events aren't even a reason. They are something that Miguel unknowingly made up. What they actually experienced are incursions which are caused by someone being in another universe for too long. I don't like incursions since that ruins some things that happened in the comics, since an Uncle Ben variant of Spider-Man who's world got ruined got relocated to another universe.
The length of the OMD section says it all. It’s not even that he can’t develop past a certain state, he seems to keep regressing, behaving recklessly and failing to manage his own life on any level. The opposite of responsible, or even trying to be.
I hope that the canon event isn't actually "bad things must happen for the universe to continue". It sucks having thousands of spider people see a kid beg and plead that he can save his dad and all of them stand around. Hopefully its just reaction to universes having worm holes punched between them so often that they eventually break. Or maybe just have it be a result of the Spot gaining power. Spider-Man is always learning about sacrifice. If it means helping a girl get out of a burning building or stopping a robber, he will be late for his day job cause he can't live comfortably know he could have done more. Having Peter accept that "Uncle Ben's death was destiny" is a smack in the face.
Not sure if you know this. But its looking like canon events arent going to be real. Like if they were, the universe where miles' spider came from wouldve been terminated. My guess is something else happened to miguels universe and he just figured it was because of him, and his guilt
u talking about the peter being the clone thing right? It was retcon at the time that was supposed to make Ben the new Spider-Man but it was eventually changed because readers didn’t like it.
Disagree with the first one and it wasn't even a retcon since it was retconned to have been a lie. If Marvel didn't backpedal so hard and undo everything from the clone saga I think it would've been interesting to see Ben Reilly struggle with losing his whole life as Peter, then learn that he was robbed even further by knowing he wasn't the clone, and still pick himself back up and become the one and only Spider-Man as was originally intended. It wouldn't have mattered who the clone was, because Ben still chose to help innocent people despite all the evil and unfairness that was done to him just like Spider-Man should. Clone Peter could've let him take over and helped people in a different way while getting to have the social life he'd sacrificed for so long, and the world would've still had a spectacular Spider-Man. The real shitty retcon was sweeping Ben under the rug and making him the clone again, and then bringing him back decades later only to butcher his character over and over and over and over and fuckin over again. Although I like alot of the stories that come after, I think a world where the clone saga played out how it was conceptualized would be really interesting too.
I would call it a retcon because it changes the context of the Spider-Man stories before it. Fans at the time did not like that Peter was the clone! It’s one of the reasons why people started to dislike the story and why Marvel eventually changed it back. Saying that the Spider-Man that readers were following for years was a clone out of nowhere is definitely a retcon! Ben Reilly is cool tho.
I personally think spider-man 2099 has some sort of misunderstanding first of all theres a spider-man variant that didn’t lose his uncle so he’s kinda a jerk secondly theres probably a different reason for the erasure of the other 2099 universe and spider-man indias universe it’s probably that the reason that universe died was because Miguel tried live in this reality permanently despite it not being his universe and I believe the thing miles said being that the spot is the one who caused the metaphor for capitalism spot being possibly a multiversal threat but hey that’s just a theory a FILM THEORY
I want to comment on what you said towards the end of the video about supporting 616 spiderman. I highly disagree with what you said about always supporting a comic series even if they begin to make stories you dislike. Sometimes voicing your opinion isn't enough. when it comes down to it, you have to take action, and stop supporting it if you want things to change. I understand letting go of something you love is painful, but in my opinion, stopping the loss early and letting go is much easier than watching it crumble before your eyes and slowly turn into something you hate. IMO Webber straight up destroyed Mary Jane's character and ruined spiderman as a consequence. I wouldn't want to pay him money to keep destroying characters I loved.
@@Sammy-qx5mx I understand, I said in the vid I wasn’t buying the current comics and that I disliked what they’re doing to him. I still have faith in 616 Spidey tho! He just needs a good writer and less restrictions. It’s more like I’m rooting for him. I can’t switch up completely!
i hate one more day so much because frankly it has ruined peter parker spider-man for over decade and frankly it drives me crazy that marvel won't just say I don't know let peter parker grow the f up and letting him have his wife mary jane and have his daughter mayday parker spider-girl finally exist in the main marvel universe would be amazing in my opinion.
I think you’re personally wrong about the canon events. At least why you don’t like them. I think the reason it works, and WHY it makes Across The Spider-Verse, the best Spider-Man story ever told, is because it takes the concept of great power and great responsibility, and completely flips it on its head and has you asking the question on what the right thing to do is, and what does Miles do?? He says fuck that against the Spider society and upholds the values that Spider-Man stands for and that’s saving lives, also, Miguel is wrong about Miles being an anomaly. He doesn’t realize that if Miles was an anomaly like he insists he is, then his universe would’ve crashed and imploded the second he was bitten by that spider from Prowler Mile’s earth. I’m sure that’ll get explained in beyind the Spider-Verse. Just something to think about.
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero what about it don’t you agree on?? I mean no disrespect, but the reason I disagree, isn’t because my theory isn’t a matter of opinion, it’s based on the information we got from the movie and details many people have overlooked, including Miles being an anomaly. That’s an indisputable fact, and I believe canon events don’t completely destroy the characterization of the Spiders who joined Miguel, because if that was the case, then even Peter B Parker would betray all of those values, but as we saw, even he didn’t agree with them in the end, and the same will happen in Beyond The Spider-Verse. No way would they actually make Spider-Man some kind of multiverse mercy killer, even with canon events, without having some kind of big pay out in Beyond The Spider-Verse that will see the Spider society rethink their choices and reevaluate why they became Spider-Man.
I don’t agree that it’s the best Spider-Man story ever because of canon events, and I also don’t know about Miles not being an anomaly just because his universe hasn’t fallen apart that’s just assuming/theorizing since it’s not said in the movie and we see the Miles that was supposed to be bitten by the spider (we’ll see in the next movie tho u could be right). I already said in the vid why I don’t like canon events. Everyone in the Spider society including Peter B Parker can’t fully be Spider-Man because they have to pick and choose who they save. The conflict forces the Spider people to be out of character even if they don’t want to and makes their actions not matter. I don’t like that. The only person who actually gets to try to be Spider-Man is Miles and he is going to make everyone look stupid when he figures out how to stop canon events. I just don’t like the concept, but if you do that’s fine! Still love the movie though, and I hope they can turn this around without making everyone but Miles look like the lesser Spider person!
They need to stop adding on to one really messy continuity, let it stop, and start over, fresh and clean with a beginning, middle and end, kinda like ultimate intended
Get where you’re coming from but i don’t know if I would want the entirety of 616 Spider-Man to restart. Maybe just make things more streamlined and stop adding random storylines/characters that nobody cares about just to undo it later (stuff like spider-boy no point in him u know he won’t stick around for long). It is super convoluted. The New Ultimate Spider-Man is doing pretty well tho so maybe you’re right what do I know. Just don’t want to start over again.
Miles beeing selfish taking the risk to destroy many universe to save his dad is beeing the real Spider-Man ? What are you on about lol ? Taking the responsibility and beeing able to make sacrifices is what makes a person Spider-Man. Wanting to save his dad is normal and I totaly understand, but the risk he's taking is just basicly an act of villainy. Selfishness is what defines villain. So hell nah he's not Spider-Man no more, at max he's just a regular hero
@@helial6341 Yes, it is selfish to an extent, but it’s better to try than to give up! What do you think is more Spider-Man-like? Sitting there and letting people die or trying to figure out a way to save people no matter what. That’s why I said Miles is the only one acting like a real Spider-Man in the movie. Spider-Man is supposed to try to overcome these things and not give up and Miles is the only one doing that in the movie. The Spider-people probably already tried to fight this but almost all of them eventually gave up. They do kind of suck off Miles a little too much in the movie though I’ll give you that. Look at the game Spider-Man Edge Of Time when Peter says the “then you don’t know the first thing about being Spider-Man" speech he asks Miguel to save MJ from dying while he is busy trying to save the timeline. He could of listen to Miguel but instead, he tried to save Mary Jane. No Spider-person does anything like that in this movie but Miles.
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero the movie is sadly biased because everything we're told just tells us that we can't do anything against the canon event shit Miguel tried to replace his timeline variant and the universe vanished in front of his eyes. Pete was there too. I respect Miles for doing something but I don't think it's spiderLike That's why I loved when Pete sacrifices Aunt may in Marvel's Spider-Man, yes it was hearbreaking but it was a sacrifice that was needes in order to save all of the other people. Across the spider-verse teaches us a fact and then destroys it by showing that Captain Stacy in Ghost Spider's universe is alive That mean that a canon event can be altered and the timeline will adapt The same goes for Miles His existence as Spider-Man should have either destroyed his World or his Variant's World ( By variant I mean a double from another universe, it's the french word ) So yeah we do know that Miles IS doing the right thing because we have exemples as viewers that a World can adapt to a change in the canon event. It makes the other Spider-Man look like idiot, that bother me. Miguel SHOULD be aware of that phenomenom But he's not. I think the film just forces miles to have the good role but with the informations he has at the moment, he imo does not act as Spider-Man But more as a Superman figure And yeah of course Spider-Man Always try to save everyone when he can but when he can't he accepts the facts of sacrificing the one he loves to save everyone else
@helial6341 I guess we’ll agree to disagree on the whole “what is more Spider-Man-like” thing. You are definitely right about the movie being biased and favoring Miles though. Once he figures out how to stop canon events he’s going to make everyone look stupid, especially Miguel. I hope they figure out a way to stop that. I also don’t think canon events can be altered yet in the movie since when Miles saved someone in Pavitr's world that he wasn’t supposed to save he unraveled his dimension. Gwen’s dad is still supposed to die too. Sacrifices are a big part of Spider-Man but canon events don’t really feel like a earned sacrifice. In Marvel’s Spider-Man Aunt May was dying because she was sick and Pete had to use the cure on the other people. It had a great reasoning as to why Spider-Man had to make the sacrifice. With canon events, people just die because they have to or everyone will die. There isn’t a good reason which is why I personally don’t care for it as a sacrifice (even though you’re right it is a real sacrifice to save the other people from dying) and would rather have someone just try to stop canon events as a whole. That’s just me tho.
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero yeah I didn't talked about Pavitr's dimension because they managed to protect his dimension from destruction ? I was surprised they could do that.

I don’t think we’re really supposed to to think abt canon events in media outside these films
It's not really movie-exclusive. What If? pretty much established the same and so did X-Men '97.
Its not that deep mate, its just sony setting common traits of spiderman to join them for a plot
The thing about canon events tho is that they might be exposed as fake next movie, there’s a lot of plot holes when it comes to them and hopefully Miles can prove to Miguel that canon events can be disrupted
I agree it probably will be undone, but I just don’t like it.
Also, it’s heavily told that Miguel’s wrong, but this guy just keeps saying it is true, when in retrospect, it’s a hypothesis.
In fairness, ATSV already shows you that Miguel lied about canon events (or at the least, he falsely believes that they are a real thing) when Gwen realises that her dad turned down the captain position and thus won’t die
Yeah, I know it'll be fixed somehow in the next movie since it's the main problem. I still dislike it though.
I like that the Spider-Totem concept got workshopped over the years while maintaining the “every universe has a Spidey” thing
At least the Spider-Totem can be ignored. The Spiderverse just dilutes the character with several derivatives and a few standouts.
Seeing the jump in views on your channel gave me a big smile. You did great on this one, congratulations for sticking with this.
Thank You!
Finally hearing someone speaking agaisnt canon events. Thank you! My thoughts exactly. It robs Spider-man of many agency
The canon event is gonna break. Either miguel is lying or miles can change things for the society !
For the canon events, I'm almost certain the next Spiderverse movie is gonna have the plot revelation that Miguel is just flat out wrong
(As an example of proof that his logic is flawed in context; if each Spider-Man loses an uncle and a captain, who was Maguire's captain? They mention the events of No Way Home, so Raimi trilogy is in this multiverse. And if it's really either/or, how does Miguel really know that any Miles universe would need both? Theoretically our Miles has already had his canon event with uncle Aaron, so as far a Miguel is concerned, under the logic of consistency with canon events, the captain is optional and Miles is fine)
the worst retcon was that peter grew up in the 60's
I liked the one story where gwen stacy is dead, dead. but gets brought back to life by venom, after it bonded with a dying spiderman. it's such a dark story, but it's probably the one story where gwen stacy coming back is actually good

9:32 i was thinking like- theres NO way that spectacular spider-man would just.. ACCEPT that Gwen and her dad are going to die. It's so out of character.
I agree, Greg Weisman (the creator of Spectacular Spider-Man) thinks so too!
I will never leave the 616 continuity, because he is the OG and he has the charm which no other Spider-man will ever have.

Understandable, it would be cool if we could see the original depiction of the symbiotic suit more often in Spider-Man media!
I know In most adaptation it’s not naive but I just wish it was kinda.
This is absolutely amazing keep up the great work can’t wait to see more 🔥! 😊

3 questions

Thing about Canon Events is that it's based on The Web of Life & Destiny, which shows up in the movies.
If you want to blame anything on Cannon Events, blame the Creators behind Madame Web & The Web of Life & Destiny.

Canon events being flawed are by design
Miles in his universe was never supposed to be spider man especially with that spider but he did anyway and his universe has been fine proving that maybe canon events might have been bullshit all long
Didn’t even know Peter had a sister 😭
(I just made all of this uo but I wouldn't be surprised if this actually happened in comics given the ludicrous amount of characters in Marvel who die and then come back as super powerfull beings)
jeez louis, just become a writer at this point!
Fairly sure beyond the Spider Verse will reveal that the Canon Event theory is wrong, and I have one major peice of evidence to this.
6160
The new ultimate universe is practically the antithises to the Canon Event theory; Norman Osborn and Aunt May died before Peter became Spider Man, I think Richard and Mary survived at least to Peter's adolesence, Peter became spider man as a 30 year old husband and father of 2 not a 15 year old kid, and perhaps biggest of them all UNCLE BEN IS ALIVE!
No. Just. No.

Wait so what she somehow gave Mary the embryo Peter? Or if she didn't how did Mary not know that she didn't give birth to Peter? Like what?

Yeah, a lot of the new multiverse stuff have introduced these anchors for the multiverses.
JMS is one of the best runs
Spider-Totem thing was good when JmS wrote it. Dan Slott ruined it tho
Well.. how can aunt may be peter’s mom? If aunt may have birth to him sure but wouldn’t Peter’s mom (not aunt may) know she gave birth?😂
idk. In the story they just don’t tell anyone. It’s not canon now though obviously.
I will not buy the Zeb Wells comics, but I will buy the other books, Venom War looks good.
Worst thing Spider-Man media ever did was have him work with the avengers.. i just don’t like how it feels
How did you find the last video of Spider-man dancing?
I just looked up Spider-Man Dancing and downloaded the vid. Here’s a link. th-cam.com/video/Qm4vSx9k9OA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fv7cpf-B2mxVK_Gb
I think canon events are not real in the film as there are a lot off plot holes in 2099s logic and i think that its incurtions that brakes the world .
Aunt may was Peter's mom in ultimate universe.
Ngl, I don't remember this in OG Ultimate Spider-Man. Where was this revealed?
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero idk know what issue but I remember it being apart of the ultimate universe.
Not sure if you know this. But its looking like canon events arent going to be real. Like if they were, the universe where miles' spider came from wouldve been terminated. My guess is something else happened to miguels universe and he just figured it was because of him, and his guilt
Hopefully you’re right . Can’t wait for Beyond.
One of them of course is ONE MORE DAY
@@Niko.one.shot. i had too :(
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero you did your job and I am proud of you
I dislike cannon events too and is one of the biggest issues I have with across the spider verse
The first one isn’t a retcon it was a plot twist that wasn’t real
u talking about the peter being the clone thing right? It was retcon at the time that was supposed to make Ben the new Spider-Man but it was eventually changed because readers didn’t like it.
@ yeah that’s the one (edit: thanks for clarifying)
I rly liked the Spider-Man story it’s just all the chasm stuff after was trash
Are you Reading Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2022) from Cody Ziglar?
nah not yet.
You kinda sound like videogamedunkey I’m sure you here this often lol

I don’t agree, but I respect your opinion!

MAXIMUM SPIDER‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
@@Spider-ManIsTheBestSuperhero the movie is sadly biased because everything we're told just tells us that we can't do anything against the canon event shit
Miguel tried to replace his timeline variant and the universe vanished in front of his eyes. Pete was there too.
I respect Miles for doing something but I don't think it's spiderLike
That's why I loved when Pete sacrifices Aunt may in Marvel's Spider-Man, yes it was hearbreaking but it was a sacrifice that was needes in order to save all of the other people.
Across the spider-verse teaches us a fact and then destroys it by showing that Captain Stacy in Ghost Spider's universe is alive
That mean that a canon event can be altered and the timeline will adapt
The same goes for Miles
His existence as Spider-Man should have either destroyed his World or his Variant's World ( By variant I mean a double from another universe, it's the french word )
So yeah we do know that Miles IS doing the right thing because we have exemples as viewers that a World can adapt to a change in the canon event.
It makes the other Spider-Man look like idiot, that bother me.
Miguel SHOULD be aware of that phenomenom
But he's not.
I think the film just forces miles to have the good role but with the informations he has at the moment, he imo does not act as Spider-Man
But more as a Superman figure
And yeah of course Spider-Man Always try to save everyone when he can but when he can't he accepts the facts of sacrificing the one he loves to save everyone else
And yeah I think we will both agree to say that Canon Event is a bad plot device.
I respect the risk of making the spider society an antagonistic figure but it'll just be annoying when Miles will humiliate them haha
Whatever, great vidéo mate, have a nice day
