I do agree that your style of editing videos is highly entertaining. I do prefer this to the polished crap we get from a lot of channels. Not sure who said it first, but the fact is that the equipment you have, the software (and software skills) you have are nothing if you can't tell a story. And you sir can tell and edit a story very well.

    "I don't really measure..."
"The number one reason why I don't have a winch, is I never need it"
----- Proceeds to engineer the most bad-ass recovery rig to ever hit the dirt that can recover rigs that are 10x it's own weight and stuck with the force of the gods...

My dad and I started building Rail Buggies when I was a kid. I definitely understand your building techniques. I knew the Yellow Banana had to be beefed up in certain areas from owning and wheeling XJ's. Still the abuse it takes is incredible, when you think of it in mechanical terms. Those little 4.0 engines are tough. They don't take overheating well though (none do really). Great job on your explanation of the mods to the Banana. Thanks!

Although my dad had a 1999 jeep Cherokee chase modle with the inline 6 4.0 and it over heated 4 times to wear it shit its self off and between 150000 and 200000 miles and still ran at 230000 miles when the frame rotted and broke so I would say they are pretty resilient although it did use one quart of oil every 200 miles or one quart per tank of fuel

I love how you buzz up to a recovery job in this wagon and people ask if you are actually going to be able to recover them in this Jeep and zip-presto they are out. I also love how many times you just get into their vehicles and drive it out and then turn it back over to them without even hooking it up to the Jeep. Matt, my 2 year old son and I have seen your recovery videos. Your Yellow XJ “Banana” has re-engaged my interest in my 1999 XJ that has been in storage for 4 years. Made a list tonight of things that need replacing.
This video of your walk around was excellent . I just saved it to a brand new playlist on TH-cam. I will refer back as needed to assist my restoration and upgrading process.
You said “I know it’s not pretty” several times. Sir I want to assure you. The Banana is a true beauty and we truly enjoy watching you wheel in it.

From this vid, and my getting a sense of Matt (he's like me lifetime of experience)..you just know what works. Your not certified in this/that/or other thing....you just DO. It's hard to get a guy like that to "instruct" you on how stuff works ...it would carry a liability...especially if done in/on a public forum for general consumption. YMMV

When Matt says he's lazy what he really means is that he like to figure out a solution that will allow him to do more work with less effort. He's got the fabrication skills and the experience to do the custom modifications he needs to make it all work. Once you've built the right tool for the job the work is easier but thats working smarter, not harder.
Great video and thanks for sharing.

I really like seeing how there are people that would rather build something rather than buy it made. I love fabricating stuff and I understand what you mean about how you dont measure but just put it where it needs to be and then weld it in. Im a welder/fitter and to me its just metal and can be cut and rewelded or melted down and recast into something useful.

Any Old Steel is freely available and easy to work with, we love it.
The Jeep is great, can see why it works well.
