Robby, reference the grill.... find a local Metrology company and get it 3d scanned then you'll have a model of it. Then you can either 3d print it or have one CNC'd.
As a machinist, that process will cost a shit ton of money. Guys with that equipment use it on high dollar parts, not grills. And to cnc machine one out of any material will cost thousands and frankly be a waste of time if even one person in this country has a good grill they'll sell. Making one out of sheet metal stock would be faster and cheaper. In theory, it's a good idea. In practice, it's really not

I thought Ed wasn’t suppose to know about this until it was done. My vote would be to keep it a surprise until the final reveal. Find a bobble head. Keep the transmission aluminum it looks great all cleaned up. Wow you guys go the extra mile. I wasn't expecting to see if get disassembled this far.

If they bring ed in it spoils the whole plan to have it a surprise. Hope its just another stupid skit. Only watching to see progress on nugget. Wont watch after that.

I completely agree, bringing Ed in at this stage would kinda kill the storyline as far as us viewers are concerned.... It's the reason we are so invested, you can't have the happily ever after in the middle of the movie.

I had to laugh watching the Nugget come apart after it was reconstructed so carefully. Robby knows his stuff and Ed will be totally surprised. A great group of people showing honor to a great man and friend.
Glad Robby is working on it and not me. For the interior I would have used 10 rolls of masking tape and 6 cans of yellow paint! (Well, if it was mine to keep). Ever notice how one takes a lot more time and effort when doing the work for someone else?

Speaking of NUMB feet... in Jan 2015 my left foot would go numb when I bent down and would go back to normal after standing up... I thought 💭 I had pinched a nerve... ignored it until March thinking it would improve and I was busy at work (logistics manager) ... Finally decided to see 👀 my doctor 👨⚕️ ... he recommended a MRI and we discovered a Tumor at L4/L5 on the front side of the spine... biopsy should it to be Follicular Lymphoma Stage 3 due to another spot on upper chest (not lung or breast)... 6 rounds of RCHOP Chemotherapy and 6 spinal injections of Methotrexate and I'm 6 years cancer free... God Bless the Great People of City-of-Hope, Duarte, California... Cancer Sucks but Life is Awesome with Wonderful Family and Friends... Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing your amazing 😉 life journey.

So agree looks like our man Robby is a great Dad. Whenever you wonder thru the years as to why you do what you do and work as hard as you do just sneak into the little ones bedroom and watch them sleep. Always made me suck it up and power thru whatever issues I thought were to difficult. Children and a wife completes the man. My wife gave me the two most wonderful gifts a man could wish for, two beautiful healthy baby girls.

I agree. My heart sank a little bit when he said that they were bringing Ed to see it. To be honest though, the nugget build has been all over 3 of TH-cams most popular channels. Even if Ed is disconnected from the internet I'm sure that someone has already told him about it or even showed him the videos. Either way it will be good.
That was my thoughts as well. We'll have to blame that one on Matt, he told us it was going to be a surprise. 😔😔

The thing that makes this channel so great is the attention to detail. Everyone knows how hard it is to find a shop you can trust. I would trust these guys with any vehicle. They're awesome.

I’m getting a headache just thinking about the fact that this needs to be put back together. And another one for doing it without ruining the fresh paint. No wonder a full paint job doesn’t come cheap.

What you ppl need to understand is, that body is a new one...its not the one from the woods, that one was sooo rotten and Paul was going to rip apart this new one to fix the old one, and with all the comments on Paul's channel all voted to keep and put the new body on and toss the old one out, made more sense, and cost, money wise,

Rubber bumpers steel door mutes construction industry
The LJ20 door hinges actually come from an old refrigerator manufactured around the same time. As late as the late 80s, the same hinges were used on Autoform TransAm retrofits. If you do find that you need to replace a hinge, just look for antique refrigerator hinges. They will come in two styles: Stainless and also nickel-plated. Both styles are still available. I hope this helps!

That’s the cleanest the Nugget’s been, since it was new. (Yes, I know it’s a replacement body mostly.) It’s such a labor of love for such a great guy! Thanks for making another old guy happy. It warms this old guy’s heart. Oh, and leave the tranny aluminum. It’s beautiful.

I love his passion about his profession.... everything that excited him was the stuff my nightmares are made of.
That strip down video explaining the details you pick up on at strip down eg bolt condition, captive nut replacement and thread chasing. Makes us realize all this allows you to have every replacement Nut and Bolt on hand at reassembly. All so logical when you do this everyday. But watching you do this teaches us who do this once what to do to be extra organized and efficient.

So excited to see the Golden Nugget finally getting the love it deserves. I'm sure it's going to look awesome once it's done. But that is a SHED LOAD of work that needs doing. Also, definitely leave the transmission in aluminium. It already looks amazing since it's been cleaned. You have plenty of other work to do on the nugget without adding extra stuff that won't look near as nice!

McMaster Carr has everything,and I mean everything....was my go to catalog when I was a maintenance manager for food industry plant..

This was great to watch the disassembly of the Golden Nugget. So much detail is going into this build. I hope someone out there has the spare parts you need to do it right. I think that was a great idea to have Ed watch the finish work on his vehicle. I am betting his face will show just how pleased is is with all the work that has already go into it and awesome it will look and drive when you are finished. Great video recording as well.
