She would drive out to the middle of nowhere with no questions asked and get in the middle of repairs without a thought and growl if anyone tried to treat her like she couldn't do something. They are so chill its insane. My buddies would be losing their crap.
What women think men want: scantily clad bimbos pounding alcohol dancing at the club. What men actually want: 21:39 A beautiful and loyal wife that will drive out into the middle of the desert with you, twice, to fix a flat tire, and then push the spare up the hill for ya.... cheers Jamie, you the Real MVP!!
Definitely. We want a real lice partner not just some bimbo for a fun night, this may be an unpopular opinion but I believe that guys who just want a fun night are still boys, not yet real mean
It's fun going back and watching these old videos when Matt and Paul were first starting to get the hang of TH-cam. It's also neat to see how much Matt's shop has evolved in the past three years. Landon's grown a lot, too.
Best part of that freebie for the service member is watching how humble matt was about it. Not a word said, nothing later for the camera, nothing. Tells me for sure he's done that a bunch of times with no cameras in sight. He's genuine, his channel is genuine, his content is genuine, that's why I subscribe..
@@mtbcyclist In this case, the WJ was supported up front by the Banana's winch line, it was supported side to side by the terrain, so it really had nowhere to go.
@Rob G. Hi lift Jack's are great for some things, but the way it was used in that situation was VERY dangerous. Those jacks fall sideways. Super dangerous to be underneath anything without some kind of safety. Glad no one was hurt.
I don't know who is more awesome, Ed or you for having the heart and compassion to include Ed in your life and take him along on these adventures!! Our elders were us not that long ago and have a lot to teach us!! Love and respect to you both!!
like that Chevy that slid off the side of a mountain trail, the camera doesn't do the steepness justice , heck of a team you guys make...great job boys...
too much work and for video at night too. hope u charged a fortune!! the guy should have had other trailer capable partners with him or a wallet full of $$$$. KEEP Up the good work Matt & Co
Video/photos never show how steep the terrain is. That boulder Matt kicked loose that rolled down the road gives you an idea, though. I was waiting for it to smack the Cherokee.
Rite!!! Damn, their some peps lucky to have his teams help out there. That stuff no joke, he should be able to charge a petty penny for this kind of rescue and the the customers should be happy to pay it!
Time for a Roof mounted Spare on all vehicles you use! Surprized you didn't find some stranded Mountain Goats up there. Incredible rescueS. Thanks Jamie♥
ken shearman “Wrong! See I was on my horse when he threw his shoe and I got throwed off. And that just caused me to bust a perfectly good bottle of fine Kentucky Redeye. So the way I figure, blacksmith, you owe me five dollars for the whiskey, and seventy-five dollars for the horse.”
But do you need a flex or flux capassitator that train engine with a flat car would be REAL handy I seen broke/broken/brokest before and this is/was close to it There are some on the Rubicon S L I G H T L Y off the trail that will be there for awhile
Matt have you started taking helicopter flying lessons yet? Jamie do you remember any of this in the wedding vows? Love honor roll spares up the hill 😮. So are you going to show us the new ring Matt got you a little time at Disneyland a long weekend at the lake I’m thinking a week+ at a spa Thank lovin’ your videos from Krapramento, California the Krapital/Krapitol our gas barely got under $3/gal and they added 3.2¢/gal tax on 1 July; I think they made the gallon into 120 oz Love my country fear my government fortunately it’s easy to write jokes about them as they provide such GREAT content. It should be a TH-cam channel ;”
Matt I've been subscribed and watching you religiously for quite awhile. Just when I think you have bit off more than you can chew, you amaze me with your clever recovery skills. Also the crew that helps you is also amazing, the guys and gals are fantastic. It is a huge family that comes to each others aid and it makes me feel good to see that kind of thing with all that is going on in America right now. Thanks and if I'm ever in Hurricane it would be an honor to shake your hand, I'll Purell first. Take care.
Customer: There's no way around me. Banana: This is how it is done. This shows awesome teamwork and trust between the whole crew. Thanks for the great content!!!
Kudos to Jamie for going out in the middle of the night and rolling a big spare tire up that was bigger than she was. I have watched this a couple of times and it is increible that you were able to get your Jeep up past the stranded truck and turn it around on a rocky, narrow trail like this one, weld on parts on the side of the hill, in the dark, and then get all this stuff off the mountain in the dark safely. Your whole team of trail warriors is the best.
My team and I do mountain recoveries up here in northeast Washington state and the Idaho panhandle. I pick up on lots tips and ideas when I watch Mats recoveries
You guys really earned your wages on this one and edd always moves rocks out of the way just to make it that bit more easy and as always filming it better then those pro's on tv.
That yellow Jeep gave everything it got in this recovery. All around amazing video. Great friends, amazing wife, skillful bush fix on a difficult technical trail and one heck of a long day. This recovery really pushed men and machines to the limit. One of those days that you never want to repeat and don't even want to think about anymore even though you know you deserve a medal for it.
Just watched this again (Saw the first version on Fab Rats) and I have to say that was one hell of a recovery by Matt and Paul!!! That road was really steep and that Grand Cherokee owner should be adding one heck of a tip on top of the payment! Ed is the man... looks about 80, smokes, and is climbing up that hill moving rocks! Amazing. Second, Matt’s wife Jaime is a doll! Not many wives would come out like that to help you. This video was awesome. Great friends and family can do anything. Thanks for the video Matt!
Only Matt at 2am, has a good tire ready to be installed so he can go home and go to bed, but instead he is searching for the reason his tire went flat. You guys are awesome!
these "Professionals" do not like jack stands or any type of safety measure. I watch it kind of as a horror movie substitute. Did you notice how they initially crawled under the car when all that was holding it on the trail was its flimsy handbrakes?? ps: dont get me wrong guys, i watch many of matts videos - i think he is an awesome guy, and i would love to buy him drinks. I seriously do - but in order to do that one day, he need to survive. Can those people near him please help him to survive?
@@zoolkhan yeah dude. A single hi-lift makes me super uncomfortable even when I'm being overly cautious. No way I'd ever climb under a vehicle without jack stands or blocks or something.
When I saw the tire go back slightly with him under with the welder I almost said something that I hardly ever say. But a great video and recovery. And B4 I forget, hello from the Philippines.
That was epic - not so much a recovery as an adventure. This one had everything, awesome scenery, fantastic team work, top notch off road action and of course Ed.
This is the very first video I saw from Matt's and it hooked me on both the MORR and Fab rats channels, so many videos of great entertainment. Hope to see a lot more, thanks.
Wish we had someone here in Kenya like Mat who goes the extra mile to help people in trouble off the road and not driven by how much he can squeeze out of them for doing it. Great channel mate.
On the edge of my seat for a time, then enjoy reading the comments. Everything I could say has already been said. Another great video with all my favorite cast of characters. Wish the cameraman had an inclinometer.
This is what great youtube vids made for. No bullshit just pure workmanship, taught me to learn doesn’t matter what’s in front of life, be calm and solve the puzzle. Cheers
@@chrisammons4456 Yeah, Sketchy is not the word for that one (is what my comment was) i cant speak for that owner, i would have had to stop at the local store for new underwear & pants if that was my rig.....a hair fraction of losing it completely
Matt, you have probably heard of this before, but in case you haven't: In the sand here, we sometimes use a boat anchor off the rear of a vehicle when winching to prevent the winch vehicle from being pulled forward. A line about 25' off the rear and bury the anchor in the sand. Love your channel, have enjoyed you videos.
Jamie, you are a keeper. To be out in the mountains with your man at 2 am is nothing short of amazing. I know my wife would do the same. Well done mam. And Matt, you are a legend. I really like watching your program from all the way down South in South Africa. 🍺🍺
Hey Matt! We stopped by the shop at the end of May and met all of you, Jaymie and Ed...Lady and Max. You sent us up Mesa Rd and over to Kolob Resevoir to check it out possible camping spots. We didn't end up on this trail luckily but going across the top of Mesa Road was absolutely beautiful! Thanks for being so welcoming to all of your fans and hope the Corvair Wagon project is still coming along!
That was one heck of a rescue - the trail y'all had to run over was more than gnarly...it was gross. Surprised y'all even made it to him and him getting where he was. Great work from both of you getting that guy out. The bummer was you Matt getting that tire off the hub. Hope you and the wife slept in that morning. Ed is a hero...getting them rocks out of the way for y'all like that. Be safe out there and one heck of a video again.
"A sticky spot, indeed" But the banana and Matt & the rest of the crew persevered as usual and got it done. It was great to see Paul working with these guys as well. Btw, there's no shame in using a winch, just a soft shackle, lol
I started watching these videos, mainly of the recent snow ones and I haven't stopped. 3 hours later, middle of the night, I have learned a lot from them. For some reason these are so fascinating to watch as well.
This is what youtube was made for, I love the honest, hard working attitude you guys all have. Plus you all seem to have some fun! Which we all enjoy obviously
Just recently found your channel. Love the content, like your easy going demeanor, really like how you treat the customer. It would be so easy to make some sarcastic comments, but you have everyone on TH-cam covering that for you, there are some funny comments. Major respect for how you treat Ed. Love him. God I was laughing while watching him hike up that hill with a chair and umbrella, he’s got class. This needs to go on your merchandise if it isn’t already “So, we got a call” Best comment 7:08 “I know that, just let me get my nerves back” 7:42 “I came to quick”. Ok, no comment. 17:06 I wonder if that boulder is still rolling! Thanks for sharing your work, family and friends with us. Appreciate it and the opportunity to see the landscape if the are you live. We plan on visiting the National Parks in the South west soon, hopefully I don’t get to meet you 😀
Gotta love how the jeep breaks on the trail, so Matt goes off the trail over super jagged rocks and makes it around. That's how you know how beastly his recovery jeep is compared to stock or even some upgraded jeeps.
Oh yeah, that thing is a beast. I love powerful trucks and Jeep’s. There’s something about being able to go from not being able to climb a hill, to being able to absolutely scale it.
When I first got in the fire department some 46 years ago, our brush truck was amilitary spec Dodge Power Wagon. I have thought for years that 'Unit 18' was the most bad-ass 4WD ever built...it made it''s own roads regularly and was occasionally special called to pull other, lesser brush trucks out of the woods when they got stuck. I do believe 'The Banana' out-bad-asses old '18' (Which, BTW was also painted yellow!). That little Jeep Cherokee will go anywhere!
Mat something you might want to try.. on your Yankum Rope. I used to use this when towing as it made it so much easier on the rope dragging on the road and stopping the over run. I used 8 mm bungee shock cord and carabinas at either end. Loop one end through the eye of the Yankum Rope and about every 4 or 5 feet put a half hitch untill you reach the other end and put it through the eye and back round itself with a carabina to keep it safe from undoing itself. It saved a few of my ropes over the years. Im not telling you how to do your job but every day is a school day even for Ed.. Cheers from Scotland.
@@shockingguy Hi im sorry i dont have any pictures as i lost them in a failed hard drive along with many more. What i did was to stretch out our Yankum rope between two jeeps and measure it extended tight. Tie loop in the bungee cord. Put it through the end eye in the Yankum rope use a carabina or shackle to fix back on its self. Then pull tight for about 4 foot and put a half hitch knot keeping it tight another 4 foot and half hitch knot until you reach the second eye in the rope. Keeping it in tension all the way. Cut the Bungee cord and tie a knot making a second eye in it. Use a second carabina through the eye and back on the bungee cord. Dont cut is short as you dont want to snap it under heavy pulling/recovery. By making it Quick removable mans it is not used in short recovery. It works brilliantly in a dead tow or a long tow to a road. It stops the rope dragging on the ground and most of all over run by the towed vehicle. It helps with snatching on the tow. I could add or remove it in just over a minute. I now duplicate the pictures and videos i cant replace...
That guy Paul with the Toyota knows his stuff... Very very clever guy.. I've watched him now 3 or 4 times on your different recoveries... Great video. One of your best. 👌👍
I'm sure this guy realizes how lucky he is that you guys came out for rescue. Don't know of any recovery outfits that would have attempted what y'all went through.
What other towing company would drive a vehicle around this broken Jeep in order to get in front of it? Scratch that. What other group of people would go to this much work to provide a temporary repair and tow a vehicle safely off this trail? None! Everyone involved did an awesome job, including Jaymie!
Incredibly difficult rescue in so many different ways. It was hard for me to even watch it while sitting in my chair knowing what you are going through. I was twisting and turning my chair all over the place trying to get you guys out of there safely. I am really glad you made it out of there OK. You have the best team in the business! Kudos also to Paul making the welds in such a difficult place and have a welder that would work while on a steep angle.
watching Paul under that jeep as the wheels roll backwards almost off that jack about gave me a heart attack. The list of things that could have gone wrong! RESPECT TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THIS RECOVERY
Every decision has risk to it but with all the experience Matt and his crew have I believe they make good choices. They are there on site and make good decisions. And kudos to Jaimie.
Man you guys are awesome. Is there any car you can't pull out? Thanks for letting us be a part of your adventures! Your videos are way better then all this reality show crap!! Big fan from Germany
You’re attitude and you’re team ( family and friends) are second to none. You have the some of the finest people around you. I really enjoy watching you’re channel. I almost got every single show watched.
Matt, this was awesome! It’s past midnight in Melbourne, Australia but I had to watch this ep. I’ve been binging your videos for a few weeks now - I don’t even 4x4! 😅 but this was so good and your wife is an absolute saint. Keep posting, my man!
My wife has come to my rescue more than once throughout my stupid car escapades... "hi, it's midnight, I got a flat tire, and I don't have a lug wrench..." Guess who came to my rescue, for free!
Watching him welding under the Jeep reminded me how my boss in 1972 set a station wagon on fire, by welding. My boss was a black-smith, but his main-income came from regular iron works like Widows Handrails and other items. I don't think in the early 1970 there was a aftermarket for towing-bars with the towing-ball. My boss was known around town that he could fit a custom towing-bar. Well one day one 1 year old Opel-Record Station-Wagon came in, and my Boss started to work on it fixing it with a towing-bar. We had a service ditch normally covered with wooden-planks strong enough if the front-tire was resting on it, the wood would still hold. In front of it there we had some stairs to get down, and at the proper place one would lift the planks out and do the work. My boss had cut all the pieces he needed, I was holding the tube which was going to be the towing-bar. Everything was prepared for the in-place welding done. I was kneeling outside beside the car, while he was welding. The bright light is too strong as welders know. So I was looking outside our garage (the doors open) suddenly my boss yelled fire, run the stairs up, what I do not remember is, if we had a fire extinguisher, I know I was watching it from the outside but somehow he got the fire stopped. What caught on fire was the flexible gas line coming from the Gas-tank running to frame of the car. This line was burned by some of the welding sparks during welding. The side of the car was black from the fire, and my boss had to buy the car from the owner, since the insurance did not cover such accidents.
For everyone saying that laying under the Jeep with a hilift in place was wrong, look again. The hilift held the receiver and was kicked to the driver's side to prevent wobble. It was only holding up the weight of the body and if it slipped, the body would come down to ride height. It's not going to roll downhill since it's anchored to the winch. Is it optimal? No Was it a calculated risk? Yes It's a trail fix. Hell I've seen hilifts cut in half to serve as lower link. It's enough to get people out to get fixed at home/shop. Don't criticize unless you've been in a similar situation and know what the hell you're talking about.
That's bull shit! He's wormed up in the suspension welding above the axle! I am having to believe they were properly supported with something we were not able to see. Careful what you show us. I would bet your company insurance provider and OSHA both watch these videos. And YES I know what I'm saying! Been there done that. Things happen off-road. As a note to the trolls, I've been involved in organized four wheeling for 50 years. We have had our share of misshaps. We have had people air lifted off the trail by the military due to part failures! Yes we have fought with broken rigs and broken people for many many hours to get them home or to medical. I'm sure that there wives and family would like to see them come home in as good a shape as they were when they left. In assessing your risk you have to give consideration to how far/long away medical help is. The body of the rig may not crush him against the ground but there's plenty of other things under there for him to get pined/ injured by. Keep up the great videos and get home safe so we can watch more.
Meh - still looks dangerous af. I’ve done stupid stuff and will continue doing stupid stuff but you won’t see me dancing around the truth and trying to say that it’s not dangerous. Obviously it is a calculated risk ... all people are saying is that it’s not a great calculation in their opinion and they seem to disagree with the risk analysis. I think that’s fair. Evrybody saw that it was in the receiver. Everybody saw it kicked out slightly. It’s not about “looking again” because it’s about what we DON’T see which is more layers of failsafes. Not optimal? Haha Honestly, I wasn’t there and I would maybe (probably) do the same but please don’t tell everybody that they missed something that’s not there.
@@Macreadysshack "look again" is because it's obvious from the comments that people believe the jack is holding up the weight of the vehicle. It's not. It's holding up the weight of the "sprung mass" ... i.e. the body. If it slipped, the weight of the body would come down (dampened by the suspension). Could it hurt someone underneath? Yes. Is there a high likelihood of failure? Maybe. Did it work in a pinch? Yes. Hence "not optimal." I agree with you it's dangerous. It's also dangerous to change a tire with a hilift, perhaps even more so, since you're lifting the entire weight of sprung and unsprung mass. You're using hyperbole to exaggerate the same exact thing that I said. Which, is what the internet is good for. It worked, no one was hurt, and it wasn't the best or safest way. But unless either of us are there, neither opinion matters.
Sean Alto Shucks man I was hoping you were going to prove me wrong. I don’t want to argue and since there is zero new information here, I won’t. When was I being hyperbolic? Hey, dude, we can all make our own subjective internet by choosing what to ingest. Do you really think I was THAT far off and using arguements that were in bad faith? Or do we just disagree about how to characterize some things? I love Matt’s channel and it sounds like you do, too. I was a little mean in my first reply and I’m sorry for that. Your post sounded kind of white-knight-y to me but only because it seemed like you were trying to correct a bunch of people who, even if wrong, are still essentially correct. How much is the sprung weight of that XJ? Isn’t it possible that if it did fail and miraculously did not hurt anyone the Jeep might shift, roll, slide etc? I’m not criticizing Matt or his team here ... it was a nearly miraculous recover but I do take issue with your “correction” of other people here. I believe they are correct and so are you so why tell them they are wrong and how they SHOULD feel about it? I’ll keep having this discussion/arguement if you want but please offer new info. No more arguing about feelings, it gives me a GD headache.
@@Macreadysshack I'm not much one for hurt feelers in general, so agreed. I'm not sure exactly what the sprung weight of the XJ is, but I'm guessing it's got to be somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 lbs of load on that jack. It looks like it was raised about 5 in, but without knowing what the spring rate is, it's hard to tell exactly how much weight is actually on the jack. So there is the possibility of the tires slipping as that weight comes back down onto the springs, it's entirely suspension specific though. I know on my crawler, lifting it 8 in can be done by just putting my back underneath between the air shocks and pushing up. So there's a lot of variance in actually how much weight was resting on the jack. It's entirely possible that I'm incorrect and it was more than I think it is, could also be less. I do know that if I was the one crawling under there, I would keep myself low enough so that in the event something slipped, No part of me would be in any pinch zones. I think that's the main risk here though, as far as getting smashed, you'd have to be in a really weird spot for that to happen. However if you had one of your arms resting on the lower link and the body weight came down on that, it could absolutely crush your arm. As far as my opening comment, I'm not telling anyone what to think. I am simply pointing out that if the jack slipped the likelihood of catastrophic failure is fairly low. It's not as if they had it jacked off the ground and he was underneath a tire. You would think, from reading some of these comments, that the entire Jeep was suspended in the air by that one Farmer's jack, which is simply not the case. It's still a lot of weight off the springs, which is why I stated that it was a calculated risk. They're still danger involved, it's just not the danger that everyone thought they were seeing.
You guys beat all, every time I think I've seen it all with my own experiences and on this channel, you show me something else LOL. Lotta "grit" in Hurricane town...

Ed is hilarious! Can't imagine the price of that rescue. Not all heroes wear capes. Some have welders. Love the video!
He charges typically $300-$500. Something like this? $1000 easy.

Those jacks kill ppl... A bit sketchy😳
No doubt especially when the dude welding under the jeep was hammering away at stuff trying to get stuff lined up.
@@mtbcyclist In this case, the WJ was supported up front by the Banana's winch line, it was supported side to side by the terrain, so it really had nowhere to go.
@@RobGADV So you're saying it was only about 3/4 as dangerous as it looked?
@Rob G. Hi lift Jack's are great for some things, but the way it was used in that situation was VERY dangerous. Those jacks fall sideways. Super dangerous to be underneath anything without some kind of safety. Glad no one was hurt.
Doing that "field fix" and recovery is one thing. Filming it into a good quality TH-cam video? Next level.

That sounds pretty smart I’d love to see some pictures of how to do that. You can find me on Twitter and other places Instagram also
@@shockingguy Hi im sorry i dont have any pictures as i lost them in a failed hard drive along with many more.

Matt, you'd be in a world of trouble without Jamie & Ed !
My wife has come to my rescue more than once throughout my stupid car escapades... "hi, it's midnight, I got a flat tire, and I don't have a lug wrench..."
Guess who came to my rescue, for free!
No
Was it a calculated risk? Yes
It's a trail fix.
Haha
Honestly, I wasn’t there and I would maybe (probably) do the same but please don’t tell everybody that they missed something that’s not there.
Yes. Hence "not optimal."
I agree with you it's dangerous.
Matt, that was the best off-road recovery yet. I know that takes a lot of work. Thanks for posting!
No matter how off-road capable your vehicle is, the terrain will eventually win.
But makes me think, this guy never carries a spare wheel then still doesn't after this accident lol
