To be fair he said “How would you feel if you were like Billy?” Though still the usage of physically maimed and traumatized kids just to make a point is... very bad to me. The "severed" foot scene WAS actually in the PSA, the full psa was uploaded 4 months ago on youtube, which is around 25 minutes compared to the 7 minute video sample. It was not a severed foot though, just a shoe and a sock in a small puddle of blood. There was more blood than the sample and was in color, but it wasn't that gory. There was a black screen after he got hit though, the uploader could have cut the gory part out for it to be allowed. Could also be possible teachers found the psa on a website that included the severed foot scene for some reason, I've also heard it was from a drunk driving PSA, could also be the mandela effect. Joey was also a video sample, I saw another comment saying they vivdly remember a scene where he smashes his head in the mirror which could be in the full PSA.
Dirk McGough I remember in my elementary school if some of the kids ever gave the impression of not particularly wanting to be someone’s friend, not even bullying them, just not particularly wanting to hang out with someone, the teachers would force kids to invite them into whatever they were doing and “be friends” under threat of being in trouble otherwise. You’re not making people be friends though, you just made everyone more miserable. Kids aren’t going to suddenly like someone because they got threatened, they’re gonna do what they were forced to do and be uncomfortable cause the mood is ruined, and the “excluded” kid doesn’t feel any better than before. Once I saw an anti bullying campaign that literally called you a bully if you didn’t actively befriend lonely kids at lunch and invite them to your table. Is doing that a nice thing to do? Sure, I would do it pretty often. But are you a bully if you just don’t wanna befriend someone just because they’re lonely? Thats a really uncomfortable idea. And honestly, after years of trying to befriend the “outcasts” so to speak I can tell you that sure, some kids are just socially awkward and unfairly judged, but A LOT of kids without friends don’t have them for a reason. Sorry, the anti bullying rhetoric angers me sometimes.
@@merrybright5732 Also most kids can tell the difference between people who are genuinly friends & those who are forced to be "friends" or just pity someone & as someone who's been "invited" to be part of things at school I can honestly say it didn't make me feel much better & sometimes actually made me feel worse about myself as I felt pathetic for not being able to get friends the regular way or getting my hopes up that maybe they had grown to like me before I realised that when the teacher wasn't looking I was going to go back to being ignored or picked on.
Zoe Harris yeah I was the lonely kid with no friends in elementary school and I can tell you the few times I was invited to a group by someone I could 100% tell it was out of pity and did not feel any better. What actually helped was me finally realizing I was friendless because I was doing something wrong socially and working on myself to fix it. I’m now fairly skilled in making friends and it was not at all helped by teachers forcing friendships between kids.
idk, these kids clearly had no reason NOT to be his friend other than just because they felt like being assholes to someone weaker. the kid seemed nice
The whole scene with Joey's bullies talking to each other was the pinnacle of comedic achievement. The camera angles, their dead little faces in profile the whole time, the zooms - it's *pristine*
"the broken toy" is up on youtube without the severed foot part, but it's apparently just a sample of the full thing. the severed foot truth is out there
@@eddydrouet1888 Eddy Drouet search on youtube for "broken toy anti-bullying," the video called "broken toy - school video sample" is it [it doesn't have the severed foot, but it does say it's just a sample
Apparently it’s common for kids psa films to have multiple different edits of the movie with differing levels of gore. Newer versions will be less bloody and scarring.
Brit Ann yep lmao, ig they said that so we’d think we’re watching a good movie or something like that. I looked it just to be sure and I saw nothing about that film winning any awards at all lmao
Literally the first thing they teach you about in film school is the “show not tell rule” and Broken Toy literally opens with several frames of nothing but text, what a masterpiece.
What I hate about these is like “You should only feel bad because they’re in a bad situation “ No, you can have an amazing life at home and still bullied and still be hurt, and the bullies should still feel guilty
Other than growing up kinda poor my home life was fine as a kid. Still got bullied to hell and back. They want to paint the perfect pathetic victim for you to pity rather than a victim who actually feels like a real person.
I think they were trying to go for (albeit extremely poorly) is you don't know what someone could be going through, so be nice. Granted again, they failed miserably
Nick Cruz That's normal for my school. We watched so many when I was younger. Most of them were graphic, and people cried. Definitely necessary though, because my school had a lot of fucked up people.
they accidentally showed one of those to us in fifth grade (was supposed to be for the sixth graders) and it deeply affected my psyche 🤧🤘🏼 it was the way I found out that suicide was a thing
man, this reminds me of my youth. In elementary school when my baby sister was getting bullied, I picked the bully up by his neck and yelled at him to leave her alone. in high school some kid was talking trash about my other sister, so I pushed him down a flight of stairs. Fear works against bullies. I've mellowed the hell out since those days.
I punched the class bully in the face and broke his nose in 11th grade. My teacher had just died of a heart attack days earlier and while many of us were close to him and were realing from his death, this punk was making fun of those of us who were upset. Instead of getting suspended or thrown out of school, my teacher gave me a can of Sprite and a bag of pretzels and told me to go chill in the hallway. She called the office and he was sent home after leaving in an ambulance. He was suspended for 9 days. The teacher claimed that they hadn't seen who hit him and no one in the class would rat me out. When the kid I hit accused me, several other people claimed they had actually done it. The office staff knew he was an asshole and a bully, and I didn't get in any trouble at all.
I had a whole group of kids bullying me and the adults did nothing. One day I snapped. I flipped the ringleader on his back; nothing more. He got no repercussions for having tormented me, but I got lectured on what was legally considered assault and that it “didn’t matter” that I was being harassed and singled out. Worth it, though. They never bothered me again.
Hey man, I remember watching "Broken Toy" in elementary school. The version that you saw on youtube was only the shortened version. The version that is being sold on vhs and dvd is 25 minutes long. That was the version we watched in school, and I distinctly remembering that severed foot image and a loud audible reaction from the class. After words, when the substitute teacher talked to us about the film like she was required, one of the kids brought up the foot, the substitute didn't know what to say. So yeah, this company apparently has no problem showing what at least looks like a severed foot to a room full of elementary school kids........kind of fucked up.
As someone who was bullied and absolutely dreaded going to school every day, I really do appreciate anti bullying stuff like this regardless. I didn’t stop getting bullied until after Christmas break of my 8th grade year when when I essentially had a mental snap and attacked my brother so viciously that I punched through a glass door he was hiding behind after taking my psp (literally just because he wanted to borrow the copy of far cry 3 that I had got for Christmas and I wouldn’t let him vent though he said he would leave it out for me before he went to bed) thankfully i was the only one that got hurt, having to get about 30 cumulative stitches in my arm after punching through the window, and after that day pretty much swearing off violence altogether. Needless to say bullying is no joke and can lead to horrible outcomes.
"Remember, if someone is bad you need to be sure to pick on and ostracize them to force them to be a better person. I'm sure they'll want to be your friend after that!" Jeez, these films....
I'm pretty sure that first movie was supposed to be a "Halloween" prequel about Michael Myers' first kill, but ran out of budget and re-edited it to become an anti-bully movie.
I don’t know what that means or if it’s the same thing I’m thinking but they probably made it less gory and cut out those parts so then it’s more child friendly
@@ScottCramer Yes! I remember thinking the exact same thing like his foot got severed and how he has new friends but at the cost of a graphic car impact.
"Here's what you don't know about the kid you're bullying. He has a pretty decent family. A mom, a dad, a sister, even a pet dog. His parents make decent money and have worked their schedules around to make sure at least one of them can pick up from school on time every day, and they rarely work weekends. His sister isn't perfect, but she's a decent role model and makes him his favorite food for dinner when she babysits. They go on vacation every summer, he gets a lot of love and attention... his life is actually pretty well-adjusted, so... yeah, you can bully him as much as you like. It's not like his entire family is dead." Seriously, it sounds like this movie is saying that you should abstain from bullying only if your victim is having a shitty time at home. Kids with well-adjusted home lives shouldn't be bullied either. No one should be bullied. Bullying isn't bad because the victim's life is already bad enough. Bullying is bad because it's an unhealthy way to process and deal with emotions of inadequacy, poor self-esteem, and lack of hope and power, along with the fact that being in a group of bullies feeds into group think and leads to poor decisions that you wouldn't make on your own if you had the soul choice. Bullying is bad because it prevents you from learning how to handle your own shit properly without the crutch of tearing people around you down below you. It also blinds you from the fact that, even though you're at the top of your own food chain, you're not self-aware enough to realize that everyone fucking hates you and you so-called "friends" would probably stab you in the back if your threatened their status quo. Although, looking back on my life, I wonder if my old school bullies would even feel a little bad knowing they were the assholes who always picked on the autistic kid until she cried. Would they feel like the asshole, or would they not give a fuck?
I love my dad and hes a good person, but when I was being bullied in boy scouts by a douchey kid. He told me about how bullies have poor self-esteem and it usually means they have a hard time and home and have to pick on kids to feel better about themselves. Which all in all is true, and I am actually glad he didn't really tell me to stand up for myself cuz that just creates more conflict. Especially since the kid being bullied usually doesn't have 'a crew' to back them up. But I kinda wish he would have at least said something to his dad. His kid was being an asshole. Fast forward to high school. The bully in reference goes to my school, and became a bit of a quiet castout. So he flowed in the same circles as me every now and then. He seems more adjusted, which I suppose just means everyone matures at some point and the shit you do as kids doesn't decide the person you become. He's dating and most likely engaged to a friend of a friend now, and last year I got front row tickets for a show for my close friends + him and his girlfriend. I was reluctant but did it anyway and thankfully didnt have to sit next to him, so I still thoroughly enjoyed the show. I can tell by our interactions that he probably feels bad about it, but I never got an apology for how he treated me years ago. Hopefully letting bygones be bygones helps him get a grip on how shitty he was not to treat people that way in the future. Its a bit bittersweet to not get closure, but its not worth rehashing bad blood. Hopefully hes really changed and treats people better now. Sorry for the late reply, but your response kinda made me reflect on the whole thing
And the bullies only chill once something bad happened to whoever they were bullying..cough car accident...cough, and after that it’s the principal that says “ lol stop look what happened “ it’s very forced, and I don’t think that a single bully on this films have even apologise about their behaviour, they just say “ now they are friends because they almost killed someone and now can’t live with the blame “
I'm autistic. It feels wrong saying this because your talking about something so serious... I don't really have any interesting stories. Autism is a challenge on its own, and the fact that you could withstand any bullying, surprises me. I don't even have severe autism. And my life feels way harder than I want it to be. I had a lot of mental breakdowns, and I had a really bad temper around my parents. I'm trying to be a star, so I always try to be "cool" around my friends. I don't really get bullied. I don't think it matters if you have severe autism or not, autism is hard.
Hahaha! I didn't think of it that way. It's a clarification because you could say "lives with his grandma" and that could mean there are other people he also lives with. But I probably took you too seriously and you don't care
@@valaya.3 Lol I think its supposed to foreshadow that his family is dead and something is wrong, but its still an awkward thing to clarify like that lol
@veevyo You had to specify those other family members, they weren’t assumed just because you didn’t say lives alone with. The point is to ominous about the fact that his family is dead, nobody actually speaks that way , it’s awkward phrasing
@veevyo I respectfully disagree, if you asked someone who does that kid live with and they said he lives alone with his grandma, that would be awkward phrasing. It’s an awkward way to put something and it’s grammatically incorrect as it’s an oxymoron, you can’t live alone with someone. That’d be like me saying I have no kids I have a daughter. I respect that you feel it is somehow clarifying, but I feel it is unnecessarily confusing and awkward. Agree to disagree, have a good day, cheers!
I specifically remember a shoe in a puddle of blood. It scarred me. I was also in 4th grade around 97-98. I was always like, why did they show us this. I do remember the chocolate scene being shoved in his face and him running out into the car but for some reason it was much more visceral and graphic.

So when in doubt just threaten children.

I saw Broken Toy, too. I distinctly remember blood everywhere in the aftermath of the accident (some of the grayscale images showed those missing shots), and I could've sworn you see the car directly hit Raymond. Furthermore, the frozen shot right before the impact started off in normal color and gradually filled in with the red filter. It was like the movie was bleeding. Sounds like a bad creepypasta, but I could swear all of this was in the original version.
my counselor at my elementary school showed this to us and literally turned it off after he got hit, so we all had to assume he died. i guess the message was "if you get bullied, you're gonna get hit by a car and die"
"You shouldn't bully other children, not because of empathy or anything because you are hurting a human person, but you might feel guilty if they died and that would suck for you!"
I love how in most of the videos, the VICTIM ends up dying to a car or something. It's like "hey kids, if you don't like somebody, bully them until they get hit by a car!"
In Maine there was a school called Schenck High School (pronounced skank) they renamed it recently. But when I was in high school they were known as the skanks lol
Bobby is one of the bullies. Bobby’s mom somehow found out Bobby and Billy were bullying Christopher Nelson. It’s confusing because Billy says, “He’s not my friend,” about Bobby for some reason.
We had a "stop" program and like if someone was bullying you or if you seen someone get bullied you were supposed to put your hand in their face and go "STOP!" It was weird....
My school was a small k-12, so we all practically grew up together. The new kids would come in and a couple would try to bully but everyone just left them if they did. So thankfully bullies didn’t last long in my school
Katherine Adams LOL! I love that. A school for introverts. Instead of team sports, you can join the Solitaire club. They put those test dividers up at the lunch tables so everyone can eat alone. No bullying problem there!

I remember a short film showed to us in elementary school that I swear was called David in the Snow, and I remember nothing of the plot except the titular David getting off the bus and collapsing . . . in the snow. I don’t remember the moral of the film. Just that it was probably from the 70s or very early 80s. I can’t find anything about it and it’s driving me mad. I must be making up the title.
Buttered Toast - I have entire childhood years that I can’t recall. I remember 4th grade vividly...and kindergarten and first grade vividly...but I have no memory of 2nd or 3rd grade at all. It’s like an entire missing year of my life.
9:37 Yes. If he wasn't dealing with traumatic events, you could bully him all you want. I'm not twisting words, that's actually what they're implying. And that's terrible.
They we’re intending to imply he’s already going through a lot so it’s bad to make it worse. Frankly I actually somewhat understand why they took that absurd route because some kids totally lack empathy and shit has to be crazy for it to phase em. At least it’s better than the Dhar Mann videos were they realize it’s bad to be racist because sometimes black people are rich.
Well, there you have it, folks! The moral of the story is if you’re getting bullied, get pushed, not even enough to move you onto the road, but then keep running into oncoming traffic and almost get yourself killed and then they’ll stop picking on you! Minus all the medical repercussions and screwing up your body, at least kids won’t bully you at school so it’s automatically a win!

👍
If u wanna be traumatized then look up “red asphalt”
The end actually isn’t that heart warming.
The bullies are being manipulated and guilt tripped into being his friend?
That’s terrible.
Right? Kids aren't stupid, they can tell when people are being forced to be their friend.
idk, these kids clearly had no reason NOT to be his friend other than just because they felt like being assholes to someone weaker. the kid seemed nice

That's normal for my school. We watched so many when I was younger. Most of them were graphic, and people cried. Definitely necessary though, because my school had a lot of fucked up people.

That seems more effective than having it end in "and then the bullies realized they were wrong and everyone became friends".
man, this reminds me of my youth.

Therefore worth $50

It's not like his entire family is dead."
Seriously, it sounds like this movie is saying that you should abstain from bullying only if your victim is having a shitty time at home.
They won't give a fuck, because according to them it was 'fun amongst friends'
Nice
Why would they say "lives alone with his Grandma" He lives with his Grandma, not alone...wtf.
Grandma's aren't real people.

It’s two different people. Bobby’s mom called her and said that Billy and Bobby were bullying Christopher because his mom died from cancer.
We had a "stop" program and like if someone was bullying you or if you seen someone get bullied you were supposed to put your hand in their face and go "STOP!" It was weird....
Someone's beating you up? Nono, don't cry for help. Just shove your hand in their face. Shout stop. They'll go " oh no! Not the hand! " and flee!
We had the same! Hand up and "Stop it, I don't like it" which now i think on it, would be wildly ineffective
Elementary schools really don’t know how any of this works
Probably end up getting your hand broken.
Swiper no swiping
My school was a small k-12, so we all practically grew up together. The new kids would come in and a couple would try to bully but everyone just left them if they did. So thankfully bullies didn’t last long in my school
There’s a school about 30 minutes from me with the mascot “hermits” ..... not hermit crabs.... just hermits.
Katherine Adams LOL! I love that. A school for introverts. Instead of team sports, you can join the Solitaire club. They put those test dividers up at the lunch tables so everyone can eat alone. No bullying problem there!
Hell ya, i'll support any football team that has a hermit for a mascot.
Iain Girten YIKES.
Mine is a blue raider.
My school’s ‘mascot’ is a train. It’s not much of a mascot, actually more like a school symbol.
i hate when bullies smash your head into a locker and then you have a concussion and they call it "bullying" like I'm pretty sure its attempted murder
I have see that kind of thing everywhere IN EVERY SINGLE MOVIE
As we all know Assault and Battery is only a crime outside of schools between adults
@@komi-sanmustbeprotected5665 in canada, when you’re 13, you can be charged for crimes
so if i get punched in the face repeatedly i can call 911 on him and have him arrested for assault and battery
@@bored_person1640 thing is, in canada nobody would hurt a fly
@@haka-katyt7439 HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH i hate flies
OMG that acting in the “Joey” video was painful. PAINFUL.
sign543 they were not that bad but the one kid was very bad
The scene where the mom scolds the kid who made fun of the kid without the mom: that mom’s acting was so realistic that it got me emotionally
Remember if you bully someone and they get hit by a car just become their friend and it will all be ok
But seriously if someone has been picking on you and caused you to get hit by a car I wouldn’t want to become friends with them
I PROMISE ON MY ENTIRE LIFE I WAS SO EXCITED THAT YOU WERE DOING THE BROKEN TOY MOVIE AND I LITERALLY SAID TO MYSELF " I hope he shows the part with his foot in the shoe" WHAT THE HELL THERE IS NO WAY WE BOTH JUST IMAGINED THAT, THERE MUST BE 2 VERSIONS. I REMEMBER THE FOOT SPECIFICALLY
Thats wierd
joshua I REMEMBER THE SHOE TOO!! It specifically scarred me and led to my childhood anxiety and OCD!!
Was there gore though
I specifically remember that severed foot and shoe... like that's the ONLY reason I remembered that one so much!
Maybe they removed it due to criticism
bullies: bully a kid everyday for years
kid: **dies**
bullies: 👁👄👁
Omg, I remember this video too and I'm in my 30s! I'm with you Scott, I remember vividly a shoe in the street after Raymond gets pushed into the street and it scarred me for life as well!
15:11 actual footage of Dwight Schrute working in anti-bullying forces before getting a job in Dunder Mifflen
lol
Beat me to it :)
mifflin*
No-one:
Every bullied child:🚶🏻♂️🚗
Also bully: 🔥🔥🔥😑
Wow
Person car...
I laughed a little at this, I admit
also bullied child: 🔫😶
Put a poster that says "Great Scott"
watch assassin's yes
I second this.
I must be making up the title.
was expecting suicide when that man said "i've got some bad news for you."
Same
Would have been more realistic too tbh.
In the movie Joey does attempt suicide which is why they went on vacation 😬
I’m always impressed when people can recall their memories from when they were so young. I can’t remember anything concrete before 4th grade.
Buttered Toast that’s really bad then lmao
For me I can remember certain moments from my past but not alot
Yeah I can remember certain things from when I was 4-5 but not all of it
Buttered Toast - I have entire childhood years that I can’t recall. I remember 4th grade vividly...and kindergarten and first grade vividly...but I have no memory of 2nd or 3rd grade at all. It’s like an entire missing year of my life.
da - Pretty much. That’s the same conclusion I came to.
