My elementary school bus driver, Mr. Ron, was the kindest human being I have ever met. He woke up early/stayed late to drop certain kids off at their individual houses (which were in sketchy areas), he gave us all candy/presents on every major holiday so no one felt left out (based on home situations), he talked to shy/lonely kids & paired them up with outgoing kids to help them make friends, and waited for us to go inside our houses before he drove off. Sadly, his wife was diagnosed with cancer right before I started 5th grade, and he had to leave. But even now (at 23 yrs old), I’ll never forget his kind and loving heart. You’re a rockstar Mr. Ron! I hope you are happy and doing well wherever you may be.

She was the REAL bus pope.

let’s take a moment to thank the bus drivers! it takes a whole range of jobs to keep our society going and school bus drivers are really unnapreciated!
This is actually relatively calm for a public school bus, what with them not using slurs, not kicking eachother at nearly the regular level, and they have seatbelts?
I remember one time I asked the bus driver why she had a seat belt but none of the kids do, and she said it's because she's the only one who matters. She was being serious.
I worked as a bus monitor for a year. I had parent try to literally fight me because HER kid was in the wrong and I disciplined then how I was supposed to
@@MakarovFox hes gotta earn some money for all the work he does on his videos. TH-cam is an unstable platform and people need a stable source of income
My grandma would always give me a box of chocolates or a card for my bus driver, every year at the end of the semester they'd get a box of candy. Loved every time, through at least three different bus driver swaps. They appreciate when they're appreciated. Anyone does. Respect your local bus drivers.
I half expected Scott to say "In order buy it you have to identify that you're part of a school district...so I got my bus drivers license and got a job at the school district. Let's watch."
Bus drivers really are underappreciated. We had a great one in middle school, who had to leave for a few months because he needed heart surgery and when he came back he gave caramels to each student in my class because the surgery was successful. He was really sweet and kind
my bus had this one driver since elementary school then she left all of sudden without telling anyone it was really sad considering she knew *all* of our names and even some grandparents and parents everyone was really sad when we got a new one for the rest of the year
The reason why school buses don’t have seatbelts is because in the event of a fire, you want the little kids to be able to get out quickly and not fool around with a seatbelt. However, as a bus driver, sometimes I wish for behavioral reasons the kids had seatbelts.
I nannied very briefly for a kid named Billy. He was 18 months. Parents christened him Billy, feel kinda bad for the poor kid as he grows up but he definitely suited Billy at his age at least.
Still thinking about my middle school bus driver who told us that his previous job was disposing of dead bodies and went into great detail about how he got to cut up a body for medical school. Dr Don if you're out there, that was a weird thing to tell 12 year olds
As a former school bus driver (just resigned for my teaching program), I am so grateful for your appreciation and attention to school bus drivers. It certainly was a rough couple of years. As for the seat belts, the short buses have them to help with student management. But the larger buses don't in case of need for quick evacuation.
Bus drivers are SO under appreciated. I had one who gave candy to us every Friday. He was great! He would also greet us individually too and ask us how we were doing. I wish I had him again, but I moved up to a different “school level” next year. If you were that bus driver and you’re reading this, thank you so much and I hope your life is going well!
I had one that gave everyone candy for holidays, and when we left for the summer she handed everyone a slip of paper with her email and phone number in case we needed anything. She also let me ride the bus for 3 years when I technically wasn't eligible because I lived 2.4 miles away from the school and the busses were for kids who lived at least 2.5 miles away. She was such a fantastic person, and I'm just sad I didn't get to give her a gift at the end of my senior year, because covid happened and we didn't return after spring break.
When i was 11 the bus storage parking lot was near my house, i broke into all 50 of them and stole all the flares, I burned swear words on the seats, ceiling, and paint, i burned the drivers seat and pedals on all the busses so they all had to be replaced lol, this took me all Sunday afternoon to accomplish, school was closed Monday and Tuesday because there were no busses to take us to school lol....to my defense i also stole the keys to the church kitchen and stole all the booze so i was really drunk when i did this
As a person doing online school, the suckiest parts are that all the teachers are assigning way more work than they would hav normally, I don’t really get to see or talk to my friends and I have to stay in the same room all day staring at the same screen all alone
Talk to your teachers, they also hate it, don't know exactly what they should do and have to get used to it too. Be respectable and talk to a teacher you trust, I am sure they will appreciate it. They won't if you're gonna be angry during lessons or right after they give you the work. Teachers are just normal adults too (I know I am) and scared and insecure during these times just like you and anyone else.
Juul van Dijk Thanks :) I honestly love all my teachers because they are so understanding and flexible with work. I honestly was being very dramatic yesterday. The work load hasn’t gotten so bad that I’m overwhelmed, but it still is a lot for the first week
@@gingersnap189 The irony is how much he cares about his son and how hard he's working to provide for him, but all Billy will remember is that his dad was never around.
You know you lived in a tiny ass town when the town's only bus driver was also the literal mayor. He was awesome, gave out gift bags on holidays and brought doughnuts for everyone on the first and last days of school.
As a school bus enthusiast, maybe I can shed a light on the whole seat belt thing. School buses are built like giant safety cages, basically a ribbed uni-body structure. The seats are also designed to bend in an impact to absorb the force from the impact. Only six states require seat belts on their buses. I'm not going to share my opinion on whether or not I think seat belts should be on school buses, but I hope that this maybe helps a little bit. I may leave more comments as I see things throughout the video, but i thought I would leave this here while it is still fresh in my head.
Ha! My school district has had seatbelts on buses forever, but they don’t require kids to wear them, so nobody wears them lol, negating the point of seatbelts in the first place.
Omg. I loved this video. I grew up riding LAUSD buses and I lived in the ghetto. Sooooo many memories came flooding back. I feel so bad for our bus drivers. I really hope they were making a lot of money because we were horrible. Like, the firecracker scene was just an everyday occurrence 😭😭😭 I don’t remember citations being a thing but we definitely had suspensions and some kids got expelled. But! I still remember my favorite bus driver. EVERYONE loved him even the parents. Like during drop off they would bring him dinner. He was such a bro. He knew how to relate to all the kids, from the emo kids to the theater kids to the anime kids. The front row was reserved for kids who needed to vent. Kids would talk to him about everything from being bullied to kids talking about there being a drive by shooting on their street the night before. He was such a good listener. I wish I could remember his name cause I would look him up on linked in or something and say thanks. That’s how amazing he was.
School videos: You are going to be bullied so bad! You’re gonna have hours and hours of homework! You’re gonna be offered drugs, alcohol and cigs and if you say no you’ll get peer pressured and bullied again! school: *hey dude do you wanna sit at the square table or the round table at lunch*
It’s beginning to look like the driver meant to stop on those tracks... she’d had enough of those kids, they were just too much. Interesting how she also had the doors and windows locked.
I love my bus driver! Mr.Johnson has watched me grow up ever since I was in the second grade! He always got us gifts on holidays and never let the kids he was driving down :)
This school year is exponentially harder on parents of young children who lack the ability to read and properly navigate the online curriculum that is laid out for them. I have had to be my little brothers new teacher for this year because he can’t load up his own work and my parents are computer illiterate so all his work falls on me. Kids at his age need that extra layer of support of trained teachers that can give them the building blocks to their education. This school year is going to fuck up so many kids. Thanks for listening to my rant.....
This school year is not fair for anyone. It sucks that American adults wouldn't stay home for a few weeks in March and now our children have to suffer. I wish y'all the best of luck, and I'm sorry for our actions. You are a great sibling and I hope you can get some recognition for going above and beyond. You are amazing. ❤
Or maybe parents shouldn't be having more kids if they're completely incompetent. I'm stoked to be homeschooling my son this year. You Americans need to fix yourselves before having more kids.
And it’s extra hard for kids who aren’t neurotypical or who might have focusing issues; lots of times it’s hard to use self motivation and to get work done when you already need accommodations (that usually aren’t even met because of how the online classes work).
Fun fact: people named Billy DO exist. I once had a friend named Billy and he was the most popular kid in 2nd grade. His dad was a well-known archeologist and his dad’s cousin was the singer Andy Grammer. I actually got to meet Andy Grammer at Billy’s house once. Billy was awesome.
When I was in the sixth grade, I had a bus driver named Scotty. He was the sweetest man ever, and he even went to my dad’s funeral when he passed away just for me.❤❤❤
My bus driver from high school ended up passing away a couple years after I graduated. He was super sweet and sometimes he would give the high schoolers some cookies from the bakery his wife ran. RIP Mr. Bob I never got to tell you how great you were.
@@LottoWavy As a highschool graduate with a 4.0 GPA, and one that switched around to several schools, getting up is a pain in the ass. I'm in college and I've never experienced being this relaxed. Highschool students have it far more rough
When I was in elementary school, my bus driver was the nicest guy. I had really bad anxiety at the time, especially on loud and crowded school busses, but he was always really kind and knew how to calm me down. Plus on the last day of school every year he would let us bring squirt guns in gallons of water and have a water fight on the way home.
Did anyone else think they were gonna get offerd like... Way more drugs in highschool? I mean it happens, but thoses videos made me think it was gonna be an everyday thing ngl
I think my (now ex) girlfriend offered once and I said no and we still dated for a few more months lmao (we broke up for unrelated reasons). The truth about school busses (based on my experience): -The back of the bus contains the popular kids, the crazy kids, and the drug addicts -The middle of the bus contains the emos, couples, and gross kids -The front has the nerds, quiet kids, and the teachers pets Just a tip, try to sit somewhere in the middle but closer to the front. It's quietest there.
When I was a kid our bus drivers name was “Big Daddy”. Yes you read that right. This was around 15 years ago so obv that word wasn’t used as an inappropriate term lol. He was the best bus driver ever and his wife was the bus monitor. I really hope they’re doing ok now
"never board the bus without the driver" If I had listened to that at the end of my football games I'd still be at the field waiting for my coach to come.
Yep when I was in grade 4 I got so mad because I wanted to sit at the back that that was for grade 5s and 6s and that annoyed me so much. I'm going to grade 6 in September so I'm really glad I'll be able to sit wayyy in the back and not be around people.
same for my school bus all of the older kids would sit in the back and the younger ones sat upfront , then middle and highschool the couples and jerks sat in the back
"There was a time when misbehavior on school busses was relatively mild. Those days are gone." Nick Mason, from the Weekly Planet Podcast, once talked about how his bus driver (in the 80s/90s) would hand out cigarettes to kids.
Whenever I went on a field trip in 6th grade me and my classmates acted fairly well. The worst thing that ever happened was someone yelling about something for no reason. I'm in eighth grade. It's safe to say that, at least from my experience, most Zoomers aren't as bad as people say that they are.

As a former school bus driver (just resigned for my teaching program), I am so grateful for your appreciation and attention to school bus drivers. It certainly was a rough couple of years.
As for the seat belts, the short buses have them to help with student management. But the larger buses don't in case of need for quick evacuation.

C-Candy…?
*Get in the bus, Ronald. I have candy.*
I feel like seatbelts on school buses shouldn't be a "political" topic, especially since it involves little kids' safety.

Ahh yes, the glory of online school. It’s great.
My little brother is going to private religious school cause he rages at any technology...
Same here, I have to do things for my brother because our parents work all day. When university starts back up im worried for what will happen.
