The recoil makes a huge difference for me. Glad I sprung for the recoil version.
Definitely brings the experience to life more. Love light gun games but I find this makes diving into the ones I've played a million times exciting again.
I think Im gonna get a second one at some point with recoil. Currently having the non recoil version and enjoying it so far. I think a second one with recoil is fair. When I have friends over we can alternate between the two :D
I just ordered my first one after watching this. Got a mini pc set up for the most part. Just need the light gun to start the action.
MY experience with the Sinden Lightgun, an expensive paper weight. It is a nightmare to setup, the store page made it seem like it was a simple setup, 30 minutes tops. Not several hours. I gave up. The Sinden Wiki is somewhat outdated and not kept up with the current software for certain steps. Leads to a lot of confusion when trying to get it to work.
I have two recoil and took recoil out of 1 (easy to put back) but I like to have the lighter one even if no recoil sometimes, the guns super heavy in the wrist with the recoil. Still my favorite light gun, weird noticing how cant really play it for long without arm pain. Used to playit at arcade full no problem but i guess its been awhile is why lol getting old

way back when the first namco lightgun came out in the time crisis 1 pack with lightgun i sent out for the competition to win a trip to i think it was LA and you got to meet the developers and you get merch i ended up getting a consolation prize which was a tiny kids time crisis hat still got it

I just leave mine on quiet all the time. I believe that the power dies down due to lack of power coming from a 5V usb port. I wonder if there is a way to power the light gun and just use the usb for the data input.

It doesn't work. I tried it.
I contacted sinden and they said it’s the spring. Open the gun and compress the spring inside itself per their instructions on TH-cam. The new spring that ships with newer guns has a weaker spring that works out of the box.
How do you change it to machine gun fire for Alien?
Can I just say, as well as the excellent review that, I really appreciate the flat cap, rather than baseball cap look that you are a rocking in this. As someone from the UK it makes a pleasant change from the usual baseball cap wearing presenters we usually see from the other side of the pond (and even the UK) on TH-cam.
Thanks for the insight, properly showing how the recoil is etc. These seem really good, but OCD is keeping me from making the decision to buy. The regular ones cost 170€ + shipping, which feels like a good deal to me. However, I know that if I got those, I would always remain plagued by the thought of having the inferior ones, wondering how much better they'd be with the recoil. The recoil ones are 270€ + shipping, and the problem there is that because there's the regular version to compare with, I know I would always feel foolish for having paid +63% of the regular price just for the recoil function.
Thus, I just can't bring myself to buy either set. If only one option existed, whichever one and with the respective price, I would already have bought them. It feels stupid, and probably sounds that way, too, since I've noticed that people have a problem understanding what "compulsive" means and that it's a real thing.
I have the same issue, but double because whichever I buy, I want two so I can play with someone else as lightgun games were (mostly) supposed to be played. Also I wouldn't be able to choose between red or blue so I'd want one of each! But two plus holsters with recoil is £300... That's a lot to play old lightgun games, and then there's the pedal... Another £270 for two! I'd probably just find a cheaper option to be honest.
Just get the non recoil ones, most of them don’t have recoil in the arcades. Some decent units do but you’d be surprised.
Thinking of getting a 2 pack for my projector... does it feel as smooth on a projector as it does for a TV, for anyone who might know?

I didn't want to be disappointed so I got two of the non solenoid ones, glad I did, I barely use the pair I got 🤦♂️
Yeah I think it's like any specialty gaming accessories. Over time we use them less and less. I like sinden a lot in terms of their performance but mine have sit on a shelf for 2 months now without being touched.
I got 4 recoil black ones. I even custom painted all the buttons, trigger, ring, reload pump, and the Dpad. I even added red dot laser sight

Was going to get recoil but I have small kids and chickened out last minute, assumed they would immediately grab and drop one or get scared when it moved and then drop it lol. 2 plain ones are still fun and maybe later I'll grab myself a recoil or 2 to tuck away
Totally understandable I can't tell you how many tablets my kids have broken over the years. You probably made a wise choice.
@@RetroGamingGuy I've been lucky on tablets as they are encased in thick foam. Didn't save one from a bath of course.
you can actually change the recoil sensitivity in the settings if that influences your decision ;)
There are also upgrade kits, however I think they want you to send them back to get them upgraded

I am going to buy the Ultimarc AimTrak hoping it will work on my Philips 50 inch tv as i wont recomend sinden as thay are deceptive.
I Pre orderd on Kick started waited nearly a year and thy kept lying about delivery and then thay produced a tracking number waited 3 weeks and stll no gun i had to phone royal mail as i thought it had been lost in the post thay sain thay can produce a tracking number but thay have a monh to post it and i was told it was posted and when i got it i could not get it to work thought it wa my tv sold it on ebay.
The person who bought it had the same issues and had to return it as it was defective.
Recoil clicks sounds like it could get annoying quickly.

Hey, I really want to get this but I have seen some people having issues with 55 inch tvs. How far you need to be from a TV in order for it to work properly?
I'm usually about 5-7 ft away. Haven't had issue with my two tvs. One is a 55.

I'm not sure. I would doubt it as they would need the sinden software installed already and I doubt they do that stock. You could probably add it but I'm not sure. Depends also what platform they use. I'm more familiar with batocera which from 35 and up it includes the Sinden support.

Operation Wolf Arcade Gun seems like it will work so far from what I see from what you show.
Yep it works very well
I assume you can completely disable recoil if you wanted to be as quiet as possible?
Yeah you can fully disable it or put it on in quiet mode too

Update on my last comment, sort of. I'm running your batocera build for steam deck docked and have run into a problem. Batocera recognizes right away that i've connected the gun but the crosshairs are stuck in the L upper corner. Ive read extensively about this issue and seems like low power state from the usb may be a factor. I have had some luck with a powered usb and the gun but still only works half the time. On the other hand, my little rasp pi 4 poweres the sinden no problem? What gives? I'm really at a loss for what to try next.
Aim and shoot at the crosshairs in the top left corner. That should reset and give you full tracking. Worked for me the first time I set up my sinden gun.
Does anyone know if this gun will work if there is a piece of plexie glass in front of the TV or does it work as long as it sees the rectangle from the TV
I've got my 34" monitor in an arcade cab behind plexi and there is no issues whatsoever.
Just ordered the recoil gun. Wonder if I could map my Logitech steering wheel pedal instead of paying £200 for their pedal??

how accurate is it when aiming and how fast does it (point to target) when moving the gun vs the wii controller, i know for me the wii controller is very slow to track your movements and takes a second to catch up so to speak...is this gun worth it or just another disappointment in those categories???
It's much faster than the Wii remote I don't notice any lags at all with most titles unless your pc is slower you'll be good

Time crisis project titan for ps1
Could someone recommend me which is the best emulator for pc to play House of the Dead with these Sinden Light Gun? I recently downloaded a dreamcast emulator onto my pc and every time I plugged a ps5 controller into the usb port the sound would turn off

PCs and laptops idk about consoles. Never tried with any consoles
Do both versions work with with both pc and raspberry pi? I’m curious about a living room setup for point blank and we don’t have a pc in here so it’s be a pi unless steam link somehow works
I'm not sure about with the pi . I know it's compatible but not sure on the setup process I don't think it's plug and play like with batocera.

Does it not matter when switching from adult to child? I have 2 aimtraks and the thing I hate the most about them is that when my kids try to play they always have to move to a specific spot and lift their arms up higher in order to find the sweet spot. Just doesn't feel natural for them since I calibrate it at my height. Do have any issues with those scenarios? Thanks
I've only played with my son who is only a foot and a half shorter than me so I don't think it throws it off too much between us. You can try recalibrating but it's likely the angle or maybe even glare if there's any lights that with their height could be be causing a issue by bouncing off the sensor of the gun. Light is a huge issue with these. You don't want any lights overhead or in front of the gun.

Aimtracks are trash when compared to the Gun4IR or the Sindens. The Aimtracks are the ONLY gun that has those calibration issues and I notice them even if I take my hand offthe gun to scratch my nose then put my hand back the Aimtracks loose a lot of accuracy and this is why my Aimtracks were used once and put in the closet! Just a bad experience with them. Sindens are great!
I have software version 1.8 and can't find Quiet gun mode anywhere! Did they remove this or is it hidden or I am Blind????
there should be a tab labeled recoil and a slide button for recoil strength/intensity. if not try reinstalling the software

Archive.org type in light gun games or light gun arcade and you can find a bundle of games it's there. You can just download that rom or everything together
Just a quick question about it. In your Time Crisis gameplay. Why does the game make a shooting noise when you come out of cover every time? :s Like in the game its self you can hear the normal shooting sound when you come out of cover.
Not sure if that's normal for project titan or not. Didn't really notice until you mentioned it.
@@RetroGamingGuy I have only seen it so far happen when people are using that light gun. Not to sure if its a setting or anything as I don't have one of them. But it def wasn't a thing on PS1 from memory
No reciprocating slide is a disappointment.
Does anyone else find the Sinden really uncomfortable to use for any length of time? The G-Con's a lot more ergonomic, and it looks like the Sinden prototype was as well.
It can be. The handle is too square. I hope there would be 2nd version with more rounded gun handle.
Is there a rubber silicone grip you can buy to "cushion your grip"?

I'm not sure honestly. I've only used this on Batocera with emulators.

Yeah it is. I don't usually play with them for most titles but use them in videos just so people can see the tracking

I keep hearing ppl using this with Batocera / emulators, but what about just running regular Installed PC games straight from SSD or even Steam Games? .. That’s a big deal

Nonrecoil won't rumble but you'll get the ability to hold the trigger and continue the shot like in alien 3 the gun t2 etc. It works perfect for single shot games and machine gun games without adjusting any settings.

Not liking mine. The automatic recoil, gets weaker and weaker from the first pull. Make me think this mfer needs to be charged
