Lightgun games made easy with the new RetroShooter!

- In this video we're going to check out the new Retro Shooter product. This new offering promises to bring plug and play lightguns and light gun games to the masses. The provided console is preloaded with some of the most iconic lightgun games of the 80's and 90's.
The question is, can a plug and play solution actually provide a good experience? What concessions need to be made in order to make it a plug and play offering? Will there be the ability to add more games, or will the solution be limited to what you get out of the box?
We're going to go through the solution extensively to see if this new product delivers on its promises.

I'll never forget my babysitter getting to round 18 on duck hunt when i was 6, it was epic, she was so awesome!!!
That’s a cool memory, you must have been blown away… haha.
I Made It To Level 99 Before The Game Glitched Out 😲
@@RetroRalph i have a ps ultrajolt gun that i want to use on pc, i dnot think its possible but is there a way without buying anything?
its got the pedal, it has kickback function and its supposed to be plugged on VIDEO cable and onto television. but since pc use monitor..
Just what we need! We need to push the lightgun agenda, was a lost genre but let’s find it pick it back u. I own a Sinden Lightgun, I love it but would also love to try!!!
Lightguns 4 LIFE!!!
Sinden is the peak of lightgun technology at this point since it uses a camera, these IR guns always have lags, it will detect where the cursor used to be not where it's at!
This comment makes it sound like a political issue. "The light gun agenda!!! 😯" Lol.
@@zZiL341yRj736all these are camera with IR to track. Some better than others.
@@MobileDecaylol. "The only way to stop a virtual bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." 🔫
I owned a Sinden Lightgun set and hated it, setup was a nightmare for 4k and I couldn’t “unsee” that white border. Gun4IR is in progress but decided to give these RetroShooter light guns (with the PC set only, uses a special included hub instead of a Pandora Box), and I must say that I am impressed. Although it needs re-calibration if you move your position say from centre to the side for two-player, it is very easy to calibrate with the included software app and surprisingly accurate. Like all of the rougher light gun set-ups with only two us sources, you do tend to train your brain in the first games as to any position variation or lag, but really, if I do a calibration sighting down the barrel, it does very, very well. It’s a hoot to play, comes with nice pedals for reloading or Time Crisis games, has a 4-way thumb stick and basic buttons for navigating and initializing most games. The solenoid can fire continuously without slow-down or too much heat (they’re powered 12v independent of USB). So far I don’t think there is an easier, faster, cheaper way of adding a decent lightgun to any basic home arcade system. I don’t use Pandora so I can’t comment on the game software integration. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to my friends who would be frustrated out of their gourds setting up Sinden or Gun4IR on their own (no offence guys…I’m just more into the tech than I am playing the games for any length of time).
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! I've had my eye on this for a while but now I'm sold!!
Classic Ralph testing new hardware. I miss and love when you do these videos. I hope we get to see more. Great job as always, buddy. If you just want chat video games, let me know. You're always welcome to come back on Calling All Retro Gamers.
Thanks brother, I'm having fun taking a break from my typical arcade videos so expect more of these. It's been hotter than hell here, so I can't go in the garage, so I figured why not do some fun emulation projects. I have a few more coming so stay tuned! Thanks for all your support my friend!
Love how this is all plug and play. I definitely want an improved version with more controls over aspect, emulators, and the ability to add games, but I'm definitely following this company now. Great video!
Include all the Time Crisis's and PS2 titles, then I'm sold.
You and cooltoy are the best at reviews! Nice work Retro Ralph! We appreciate your videos.
Thanks brother , I really appreciate the kind words ✊🏻
Man i been trying EVERY WAY to play gun games and this seems like the best solution!!
I have been thinking of getting a setup like this. thanks for the review it will def help my purchase when I am ready
ordered.. its on a flash sale right now.... my kids and I will have a blast on our 75 inch TV with this...
YES‼️
I’ve been looking for sumthing just like this‼️
Gonna place my order later this week😁
This is fantastic ! I’m getting these. The amount of gadgets being released for us retrogamers. My son just got me a Tac-2 joystick with a USB connection so I can emulate my Amiga500 games properly on my laptop.
For me, the ultimate accuracy test is playing the point blank games, especially the third one. If this gun is accurate on the one bullet mini games, is accurate enough for anything
Good to know!
Exactly. If you can't play Point Blank i don't want it
Yep- it’s the only game I want to play with a light gun.
Ugh... I just got one and although there are lots of fun games I'm enjoying, the main reason I wanted to try this was because of Point Blank. Those'll be the games that keep something like this in the rotation. Unfortunately those games are not great on this system. It's just too laggy for true accuracy. But I will say there are a lot of fun games on here and if you don't have any other light gun options already, it might be worth picking up for gatherings where people can step in and out of playing.
This is pretty cool! Quick and simple set up.
I will be using your link. Great presentation. Thanks for letting me know about this system.
I LOVE in T2 when you shoot the heads in the right spot the chip comes out!
Learned so much about how to setup the retro shooter from your video, thank you. FYI, I got a kit last week (10-13-2023) and you can actually change the aspect ratio for each shooter games now :)
Thanks for update. About to order for my boomer self and my son to play together. Good to know.
I was just looking at these online. Awesome video!
Thanks bud, I apprecaite you watching!
I love the plug and play easy option I'm too old and have too many other hobbies to have to do a lot just to play.
I'm definitely picking one up for the retro arcade in my basement.
I hear you man, I feel like the older I get, the more I appreciate plug and play options. Like I said in the video, there are concessions you make with plug and play options like this one, but sometimes that's ok to have a little "no hassle" fun... right?
Finally got my second player Sinden to work, took me forever to setup. Had to change one of my guns to a different camera ID but now everything works perfect. My daughter and I just beat Area 51 and Jurassic Park, now we’re playing House of the Dead
Super thorough and informative vid, ty!
Thanks for a great and honest review. I really enjoyed it 😊
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate you watching. 🙏🏼
Great review bud! Thanks. I was looking for a budget option.
Thanks bud, I really apprecaite you watching!
Brilliant and simple to understand!
I love light gun games. Im going to purchase this for sure
This honestly looks solid for the price thanx for the review also really dig the background bongs 😂
I just bought a hotd2 cabinet.
Had I remembered the cab was so damn big I would of rather used this product instead.
It was really cheap so I guess there was that.
Great channel Ralph !
Thanks bud, I apprecaite you watching!
How much was the cab?
oh this looks amazing - I used to love playing lighten games
Thanks for the video. I wound up going with a GUN4IR and have been pretty satisfied with it overall.
That's actually a really smart use case for the mclassic. Been debating whether or not I should keep it, and you've given it a very solid use case honestly.
Sweet man, I'm glad I could help. I use it alot for Pandora's box testing since most of them don't support 4:3. Thanks so much for watching!
@@RetroRalph We will be supporting 4:3 with the next update!
Solid video Ralph 👍. Thanks for the shoutout btw.
The dreamcast / atomiswave emulator is no doubt using Flycast, but if they cant compile it correctly theyll have graphical glitches due to the video renderer. You can see issues like this usually when playing Cannon Spike, a glitchy mess unless compiled correctly.
Total bummer they didn't add aspect ratio alterations to the gun games, and wtf is with such a tiny options button!? Insane.
... Lol @ your Duck Hunt moment btw 😅
Thanks bud, if anyone can make this thing awesome, it would be YOU! Thanks for the extra info on the emulator. No idea why they put that button on the bottom, it's like WTF? Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this despite its flaws. I'm looking forward to seeing what the community does with it now. The guns themselves are actually prety damn good IMO.
Yup, we are always evolving and the next update will include the 4:3 aspect ratio option. Coming soon!
the makers social media presence is listening at least
Thanks for great review unlike other reviewers. This is just a decent plug n play for retro shooter with a flare of modern shooter, no extra, no frills, no config. Other TH-camr don't understand for some people finding games and config a PC is a big deal.
You are correct. We wanted to help the people who don't have the time or desire to get into complicated setup and config. Enjoy!
That is a perfect setup for a modern flat screen 📺. I want that

Why this genre just don't explode in fame with all of those VR devices?
It's just perfect!
Shooters are very popular for VR.
@@SuperAwesomeMovies yes indeed, but VR devices aren't so popular at all.
@@EuSouRCS You asked about the genre, not the actual VR headsets and accessories. VR is still in the novelty phase, like smartphones or social media, before every man, woman, and child on the planet had one.
@@SuperAwesomeMovies yes brother, but my point is the explosion tendency of both of those things, shooters and VR.
@@SuperAwesomeMoviesI agree I’ve tried vr on racing GT game and it’s magical like game changer but as u said not many people have and very expensive right now.
Great video and thanks for providing the valuable info.
Glad it was helpful! Thank so much for watching!
BEFORE even watching the video, I went to the RetroShooter page just to check out the prices, and "once again", new lightguns on the market for well over 100 dollars/euros a piece. NOW I can enjoy the video knowing beforehand I can't afford them.
EDIT: nice plug n' plug n' plug n' plug n' plug n' plug n' plug n' plug n' play solution, mostly practical for anyone wanting to quench that thirst for light gun games. I sincerely hope all those games are licensed, otherwise they might find themselves in hot water pretty soon.
Very good review 👏 clear and well rounded covered everything the retro gamer would need to make this purchase 🎉

I love gun games and was one of the people that always bought the periferal with which ever console I had.
Great video dude! Absolutely love light gun games!
Thanks man! I appreciate you watching!
for the price of this thing just get a Quest 1 on the cheap and emulate them there or get quest games, so much better
This is a step in the right direction for sure. I’d love to see the evolution of this kind of product, however as you said Pandora is always hit or miss.
Thanks for watching man, Funny thing is, I've been talking to the people behind the Retro Shooter, and he's saying updates are coming mid-August! They plan to add more games as well as add a way to maintain the proper aspect ratio of the games! Time will tell but very uncommon for the Pandora's box guys.
i got today the gun with the hub...its really good ,top quality!! also works amazing on PC
Loved the video Ralph. This maybe a good option for me as I am a plugin play kind of guy.

Cheers Ralph, miss my lightgun games
Good Review! Thank you!
Got mine yesterday. Setup is straightforward. Had a great time playing the gun games. Sound was garbled, though. Might be because my LCD is pretty old. It does let me change the aspect ratio.
There are a few audio emulation issues on the RetroShooter but none too bad so it could be your LCD.
Really nice review you made my friend.
Looking forward to checking it out myself.
I picked up that platinum pack myself... we should collab again buddy with a video ❤
Thanks my wicked friend, let's do it!!! Maybe we can do a lightgun collaboration video. I'm going to try and call you this week, tomorrow my work schedule isn't too bad. Miss you buddy!

Hello. I have made my own build with more games and more systems. Feel free to ask for more info
The way I see it, this is good for games you wouldn't see on PS1, PS2, or Wii. Quite the list!
Seems like it's good for those that want a simple plug and play style of arcade shooters. Me personally though I'm still working on a modded Arcade1Up I can use until I someday make me a multi-shooter cabinet.
I need a light gun to work on my LED, because i miss playing The HOuse of the DEAD.
Awesome video!
If the Pandora's Box dudes figured out how to get Dreamcast to run full speed. These lightgun boxes would sellout faster than crack in the '80s.... 😂
LOL, I think you're right!
Buying crack in the 80's? Was it really that good? LOL. Just joking, well least NOT on the part of never trying crack! Sigh... NOW I'm feeling OLD now. LOL😂😂😂
I think we’re almost there. House of the dead 2 looked pretty damn good here.
They made one it’s pricey though but it’s the Pandora box gun max comes with their standard emulator and light guns plus games also running on a pc that’s faster and runs the standard Pandora games better but it’s 545-700 😢
I agree it makes it easier for these games I wish people would complain and say where are the light guns we can use on consoles for Xbox series X PS5 Nintendo Switch PS4 we got the house of the dead remake it’s very difficult to play with just the controller I think it’s the end for the light guns list like action replay and GameShark the older consoles I loved them I loved these older arcade machines even more cause you can sit in them like the house of the dead but since arcade machines break I won’t be buying any arcade machines
First decent video that gives details on 10th anniversary Pandora.
Point Blank, Time Crisis, Virutal Cop arcades god it was brilliant back then. I remember owning the Namco G-Con and Time Crisis pack for playstation
So amazing 😊
Thanks 😄
Thanks for the video Ralph. Didn’t know this existed until I saw your video. The only “gun” games I have are Duck Hunt for the Wii and House of the Dead for the Switch. This retro shooter will certainly bolster my light gun game collection. I immediately wondered if something similar existed for driving games and I discovered Prime Racing from Prime Arcades. Thanks again.
This looks like EXACTLY what i want.
I bought one and am really impressed
The best thing I see in 2023. Amazing product.
Please Open affiliates Sellings. Here In Brazil we have a Big Market to explore.
Fantastic!
Great review- many thanks! Gun4IR is always OOS so I bought Retroshooter. Retroshooter upgraded to 4 IR emitters and sensors and is now super accurate, so I don't need to buy Gun4IR now. I have Sinden guns, which are great plug 'n' play with a Batocera build (external HD), but are too much hassle with setup for Teknoparrot on PC. I have RetroBeast, and am setting up with Retroshooter including for Teknoparrot. The Pandora's Box 10th Anniversary edition is great for a simple setup, and includes 4:3 ratio now. So overall I would recommend Retroshooter guns. So easy to plug 'n' play with Pandora (same company), and the foot pedals are awesome. Final advice- get a fisheye adapter for the front lens for large screens. I use a 120 inch video projector screen and you need that fisheye for wider field of view.
That looks cool.
Nice review Ralph!
Great video Ralph! Enjoyed watching, you mention Sinden how does the gun tracking compare to AimTrak (if you have one). Thanks again for a great video buddy!
Light guns are really cool! That’s why I bought a ps eye again! I got a game with it too!
AWESOME CONTENT!!!!!!!!
This is a kinda dope solution for those that like say just want a plug and play option. Im a little bit picky so dont know if i would buy it but a dope solution nonetheless.
Thanks for watching brother, see you at SFGE!!!!
They should have just made a cartridge slot for putting more games I'm definitely looking to watch this product line now. Can't wait to see what they are making in the future. Definitely on the right track.👍
You can always plug them into a PC to play whatever you want. They are super easy to set up on a PC.
@@theretroshooter yeah but you lose the portability aspect of this let's say I want to go over a friends house I can't take this stuff to people's house they aren't always comfortable letting you hook up stuff to there computers. @@nerdloftgamingExactly!
Forget Duck Hunt. The best Lightgun game ever made.. is Shooting Gallery for the Sega Master System. (Interestingly enough, made by Mark Cerney. The man whom created Marble Madness)
Shooting Gallery is somewhat similar to Namco's Point Blanc games. However, IMO... its far more challenging, and far more Satisfying. There are only like 24 levels.. But I swear, it probably took me like a week to be able to reliably get past the 6th? level (Balls in Multiple Pipes Stage). The space ships with shields, were the thing that destroyed me, every time.
There are a certain number of Graphical "Scene" styles, that come up. Once you complete them all.. the game cycles through the same scenes from the beginning... however, the patterns of the Targets are Radically different. There are far more targets on-screen, they move much faster, and they have much more complex movement patterns. You are also expected to be able to hit a higher percentage of these targets.. the further you are in the game. If you fail to match the Passing number of targets... Its Game Over... and you have to start from level 1, all over again... Which is perfectly fine by me.. as I DESPISE continue based games. This is like an 80s old-school arcade game. It forces you to develop the needed skills, in order to be able to get anywhere near the top levels of the game. As such, you get an amazing sense of Accomplishment from being able to reach new levels.. as well as from getting a "Perfect" on your Level Score Tally. You also sweat bullets... as you are under a lot of stress in order to be able to Qualify for the next level.
With Point Blanc... It didnt really matter if you were a Crack Shot... because if you failed, you could just add another coin into the machine, and continue. It completely cheapens the entire experience. But with Shooting Gallery... you NEED to become a Crack Shot, to get anywhere in the game... and when you do.. its Glorious. If they remade the Master System today, and it only came with shooting gallery... it still would be worth the purchase price, for that game alone.
I will also say... that the Master System has some other great gun games. I especially enjoyed, Missile Defense 3D (in 3d glasses mode).
I didnt own the others... But I believe there was a Gangster gun game, a Military gun game (where you have to save soldier), Marksman / Trap Shooting, and a Jungle Hunting game, I believe.
Now, if this was also able to have the more modern shooters, especially silent hill, HOTD scarlett dawn and time crisis 5 that would be amazing.
Hopefully thats something for the future.
If only it worked with a system worth playing those games on. This is good like how those nes clone consoles were when they came out: not really what we wanted but hopefully it will drum up interest in light guns so a better manufacturer makes them
You can always hook them up to your PC
i use mine on pc with the hub. they work amazing
Would love if this included the Mad Dog Mcree trilogy, Ghoul Panic on PS1, Crime Patrol, Who Shot Johnny Rock, etc

Nice! I just recently got 2 Wii-Mote Lethal Enforcer-style Guns for MY BATOCERA Machines
Im testing it out tomorrow
Just ordered as I have used Pandora’s Box units before and they work fine for me. I ordered the lowest cost console ($233.97) and after my order was complete I was offered the USB base for $24.97 with free shipping so my total was $306.94 for two guns, console, and USB hub and 2 foot pedals. The big news is their site said the USB base works with a PC. To repeat it said both guns with recoil and foot pedals will work with a PC. A small note said the guns work as mice.
So the hub is mandatory to use the light gun kit with any PC/emulator? I'm looking for a kit to play with all latest light gun game in Teknoparrot.
This is what I wanted to hear. This could be really nice if they sell a package with the guns plus the hub for PC.
Thanks. Alot of good info. My first gun build will be retroshooter, but I will go to gun4ir
By far the main 2 gun arcades I loved were Area 51 being my favorite and the notorious house of the dead.... Those are the best ones honestly that I'd love...... To have
Seems cool, especially maybe for a projection large wall gaming experience.

Yeah I have one but not the console with it. It’s plugged into my pb10
@@Tinman45694501 I have one ordered for my p10. Did you get the hub? Or plugged guns directly into p10?
I believe you will need the hub, but I didn't test it without them to see if it would work. You would lose the feedback function as that's a different connector that the PC10 doesn't natively support without the hub.
Great video, it was very informative, thank you for that. Is their a complete list of the gun games on this device somewhere? I checked the website but didn't see any options other than buying the product.
IT does look interesting, especially as light gun set ups are a nightmare to set up now.

Helloooh you
Nice clean and honest review, much appreciated. As for these guns I’d buy them in a heartbeat if they worked with a pc. I’m still on the fence at this point.
Apparently that adaptor that makes it work with the pandoras box 10th anniversary will also work on your pc. That's what it said when I bought my console on the website, anyway. I didn't get the adaptor so I can't confirm for myself.
I haven't tested it on a TV, but apparently the do work, but you need their HUB and the software. You have to join the Retro Shooter Facebook group (as of right now) to gain access to the driver software for PC.
@@RetroRalphAw crap, Facebook is required?
@@jarbassilva144 Facebook is not required we can send you the software no proble. It is just to calibrate the guns, same as you see in this video.
@@ashfoxx85 The adapter is for the recoil and pedals. You don't need the adapter if you don't want to have the recoil.

Absolutely man, I hope to see you there!
I just got my kit and They added 4.3 😂 looks like they took your advice
Honestly, it looks fun despite the flaws. I am surprised you didn't go double guns Dante mode😂😂😂
Oh yes!!
Is there a way to get the running on a PC set up with launchbox with mame? Or a raspberry pi?
How was the tracking and calibration? I saw in another reviewer who live-streamed the tracking kept getting lost on the more graphically intense games but I noticed he had the crosshairs on so I wonder if that’s a factor
I’d prefer 4:3 aspect ratio as well, but if you force it on a hardware level, you also have to remember to move the sensors in to align with the picture or it’ll aim weird.
That's a good point!
100% - I should have mentioned this in the video, so thank you for the comment. On a side note: I've been talking to the team behind the retro shooter, and they're doing a software update to add 4:3 options, so that's promising. They said mid-August for the update.
