I've been re-building my childhood light gun collection and following along with your previous guides. I'm so glad I got another Silent Scope Bundle before your video dropped because I'm sure they'll all disappear after your endorsement, lol! Thanks for another awesome guide!
So happy to have it working on Silent Scope now! I have the lime green version and it's taken forever to get working. So thankful for you guys sharing the settings! I just tweaked my TV brightness too to get it working. I love this light gun for House of the Dead III & 2 as that's all I was doing before getting it to work with Silent Scope. Thanks again!
Just downloaded Silent scope on my OG xbox and used the settings you guys recommended on the game and my TV with my Mad Catz light gun. Now its actually playable (brightness at 35 in game). I can't wait to play this game more. Thanks guys!
Just want to say I love watching your channel. Been a subscriber for a while now. Never have left a comment. But today I wanted to say thank you for recommending the silent scope bundle with gun. As soon as the video ended I went on eBay and bought a CIB bundle. Keep up the good content and look forward to more recommendations.
@GamingOffTheGrid I'm really looking forward to your ps3 n ps4 version of this. Honestly, duck hunt is really the only one I played n starting to see why. I feel back then the calibration was so bad that I stopped buying them. Hearing that you can change certain things for the better(settings),that would have been great to know as a kid lol Would have never guessed to turn the brightness up. That beer you guys did this time would be great from camping trips/softball tournaments. Or maybe even a hangover lol
Think Time Crisis 2 ! Good times passing the gun round on the special missions , making a few seconds progress each time with your mates pointing out each enemy . Intense but so rewarding ! Thanks guys for building a community on preservation of these classics . Think the light gun era was a great era for gaming such an easy and satisfying way to play , Duck hunt is also a special game as my first ever go on light gun so without that maybe I'd never been looking for more . But arcades to home console fantastic . luckily my father was tech enthusiast so we had a monster CRT , boy I wish still had 37 inch beauty , heavy and huge but good times . Thanks again guys .
I got Mad Dog McCree on Xbox. It was on DVD. It was originally a laser disc game like Dragon's Lair. But the DVD works on Xbox, PS2 and PC with light guns, and CRT monitors. So it will work on 1999 Windows 98 PCs with DVD drives, and a PC is going to have higher resolution monitors to play the game.
I love all these videos. What accessory can you do buying guides for next? I don't think you are wheel guys, but maybe there's something else? I had a lot of fun with PS3 move back in the day. MLB The Show home Run Derby was fun.
Point Blank series is still my favorite of the at-home light gun games. I think it's because of the fun competitiveness of the game. However, a very close second for me is Freedom Force on the NES for nostalgia reasons. My jaw dropped when I first saw that intro as a kid and I never realized how fun light gun games could be.
Woooooooooooo, been far too long since I've checked out a video from you guys. Super stoked to start getting through the backlog (aiming to get back to the beginning of the year if possible), two awesome dudes with great content, and a shame I've slacked on videos for this long. Went through a rut of just not wanting to watch much, but I'm back, and hope to amend that soon. Honestly haven't played many Light Gun Games with the gun outside of Duck Hunt, but House of the Dead Overkill on Ps3 (even though I used controller) would probably be the choice for me. Otherwise maybe some of the Cabela games. I own Starsky & Hutch might need to keep a eye out for the Light Gun for them. I remember having a blast with these types of games in the arcade. This was a absolute blast of a video to return to with another exceptional Beer review to boot. Hope you have both been well, and that 2024 has been treating you fantastic both in terms of personal and professional. You both truly deserve it. Keep up all the incredible work Wes & Rob, see you all on the next one my dudes. #Roadto45k
Great coverage on one of your specialties; Light gun games! I can also confirm Starsky and Hutch works on PS2 as that is how I have it. As for a favorite home games: Virtua Cop 2 and Vampire Night, Time Crisis 3 take the top 3 for me.
Yes starsky lightgun does work on ps2 and I don't know about xbox but the ps2 release you can hook up a steering wheel and pedals and have one person driving with those and use the gun for p2
The silent scope light gun is the one to go for definitely agree! I grabbed 2 on the cheap last year because I wanted to have that shotgun feeling when playing house of the dead. It feel so good to use it
While House of the Dead 3 on the PS3 uses the Move controller instead of a light gun, it is compatible with the assault rifle shaped Sharpshooter accessory. What’s nice about that gun peripheral is that despite being shaped like a military style rifle, it has a shotgun-style pump that will act as a reload for House of the Dead 3. Improves the experience significantly if you can still get the PS3 version.
Thank you for this. LIGHT GUNS R UNSUNG on XBOX. I have the Sniper/Shotty & HOTD 3 for XBOX. It is a TRUE Home Arcade Experience. BOOM! NINJA ASSAULT on PS2 Highly recommended.
Glad to see you guys finally got the sniper rifle for Silent Scope. I never thought about using it as a shotgun for House of the Dead III but I'm going to have to try that out! Thanks!
Nice guide, guys! My favorite light gun game I've played at home has been House of the Dead Overkill. I plan to play through all the old console light gun games eventually.
Great video guys. Its hard to decide which is my favorite so Im just going to list them. All the House of the Dead games, All the Resident Evil Light Gun games, and Killzone 3 to name a few. Keep up the great work fellas. CHEERS!
Great video guys! I love light gun games and I didnt even know there was an xbox peripheral for silent scope!!! I already got the xbox hooked up to my crt, now I just need to get those light guns & games...
Yep got the Rifle scope gun and the 4 games , thàt's some Heavy Recoil!-) Afraid it's Gonna break or something.. 💔 but it is Amazing❣️ U Guys are on a Roll! 🙌🤘🤠😎🔥🍻
A little over a year ago, I tried to optimize the settings for silent scope just to make it no as washed. I found that using a retrotink 5x to reduce the gamma after calibration did not significantly impact the smoothness of the tracking, and did help to make the image not so washed out. I can link more details if you're interested
Probably gotta go with HotD 2 for favorite actual light gun game, but if you count Wii games, Confidential Mission and the 2 RE light gun games are up high on that list
I really liked this video fellas. Mostly because I'm partial to the Xbox. I had the Mad Catz pistols for the Xbox at one time. My brother and I played through House of the Dead III and then II with them. After my CRT died, I bought an HDTV and ended up selling the light guns. I still regret it, especially now that I have another CRT. I still like to play House of the Dead Overkill on the Wii and Lethal Enforcers at the local arcade. Cheers!
Great video. Didn't know about that silent scope rifle and hotd2 & 3. Really want to collect these now (and an Xbox which I don't have). Don't forget the SharpShooter on the PS3 gives you the pump-action shotgun reload for House of the Dead 4. I gotta say that's my favorite light gun game, House of the Dead 4 on PS3 with 2 SharpShooters and 2 player coop is absolutely amazing!!!! (looks amazing and SO immersive with the SharpShooters) [pretty good w/House of the Dead 3 as well]. But I really wanna try hotd2 & 3 now on the Xbox with that shotgun controller (and Silent Scope looks great too!). Fun on the Dreamcast, but bummer it didn't support light guns.
Endgame for the ps2 was the first game I remember where they allowed you to dual wield light guns without playing as player 2. Besides literally every time crisis game, that’d be my favorite.
@@GamingOffTheGrid yea man i got the house of the dead remake for xboxX and they dont even have a lightgun yet im superrrrr bummd you think theyll make one?
One of the saddest things is that we nearly saw a port of Virtua cop 3 on the original Xbox. It got cancelled late in development. It’s been ported over now but without official lightgun support…. Major bummer
Definitely sucks. I actually have never played the 3rd one unfortunately. I've never seen it in the arcades. Fingers crossed that I come across it some day
I bought Silent Scope Complete, and that Sniper light gun from Best Buy in 2004. When I got home I set up in my Sniper Post behind the couch, and tried it, it played bad. That left a sour taste in my mouth and I traded it in at Gamestop. All these years later I wish I hadn't, because I would like to go pick up House of the Dead and try it out.
I totally get it. We thought it was junk too when we first started trying it out. I'm glad I stuck with it and figured out the calibration. Maybe you'll find one on the cheap some day and be able to try it out. Cheers!
I would love to see a Nintendo Wii light gun video next, granted I know you’ve guys mentioned a few titles here n there in past videos but would love to see a full list incase if there’s some I ain’t heard of and would love to play and add to my collection of Wii rail shooters
I actually just bought the light rifle and silent scope like 2 weeks ago and everything you guys said is true. It’s on the software side but calibration for me didn’t take to long and I actually was able to play pretty smoothly adjusting the in game brightness to about 30. It might be that I play a little closer to the TV. Side note with the Dreamcast, I imported the official sega light gun from Japan and I played HOTD2(bundled with the gun) perfectly with no calibration. You may consider doing that, I haven’t tried with other games though. The caveat is that the official gun only works with virtua cop 2 and demolition racer. So you would need the Japanese or European versions of the games. Since you already invested it may not be worth it for you guys but something to consider, plus that HOTD2 big box looks awesome and you can get it for a reasonable price($80ish).
OMG I found one of these, mine is only the gun and the stock, but it has a recoil trigger that I wasn't sure was in the video, specifically for silent scope, probably bad for other games because it takes time to reset. I love this channel, I am a huge light gun enthusiast and I love this video.... I own too many crt's. Also Black with lime green accents
I think a lot of folks did in the home console scene. It wasn't until years after the PS2 and XBOX I discovered the ol' light gone treasure trove that they were.
With the brightness settings so high, does it make the game look too washed out? Or do you leave the brightness high only the calibration process? Great editing, this vid is a BANGER.
favorite light gun game is between Gun fighter Legend of Jesse James on ps1 and Elemental Gearbolt on Ps1. :) Thanks for the video, i played Silent scope so much with just a controller on the dreamcast and loved it. lol
Time Crisis games on PS2 probably tied with GunFighter. If you plug in a ps1/ps2 steering wheel in player 2 port you can use the pedals from the steering wheel to duck in all Time Crisis and Gun Fighter games. Time Crisis 2 and 3 via system link with another fat PS2 is amazing as well.
Boys, you know there are xbox controller extensions right? I got one new back in the day for a steal because it had the wrong price sticker on it. A cable extender is a MUST have
I never had any light gun games for my home consoles. I should have because my friends and I loved playing arcade versions. I guess I never made them a priority.
Favorite home lightgun game has to be Vampire Night, I have a lot of time on that one doing couch co-op with my friends in high school. If I ever had any of the Time Crisis games I'd probably vote those, but I never did the home versions. Hmm. I don't have anything light gun related on the Xbox. I'm gonna have to change that in the future. That Silent Scope rifle is badass. You guys weren't kidding about calibration in the DC HotD2, that shit would not work with my guns. Now Virtua Cop 2 on the other hand, first try and it was perfect.
Hell ya! Vampire Night on PS2 is awesome. The Time Crisis games on PS2 are legit as hell. If you ever get the chance you should give them a go. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I've played the Time Crisis games in the arcades, the ps2 copies have been on my radar but not a priority. People around here go nuts for Treehouse Brewing, they're probably an hour north of me in Mass.
good to know guys cause I got the rifle some years ago and it was really working very very bad....and I was just too frustrated to play.. I will check with your settings tomorrow, THX. Any updates with HOD remastered on PS4 maybe? :D
You guys know if you mod the xbox and give it 128mb ram then you can play the sega Chihiro arcade games Vitrual Cop 3 and Ghost Squad with the xbox light gun natively.
You two cool dudes need to get a 128MB modded Xbox so you can throw Virtua Cop 3 and Ghost Squad on it. They were Sega Chihiro arcade games that used 128MB Xbox boards. It's not too expensive and the extra memory also allows for lots of native 480p games to run in 720p. The rest of the advantages usually come down to emulating more complicated games and better XBMC stability.
We had shipped one out a few years ago to a follower of the channel who was going to do it for us. We have yet to see it and communication went quite unfortunately. I look into it when I find another XBOX I can spare.
@GamingOffTheGrid damn that's bs. I'd offer to do it but it's a little too risky and I wouldn't want to brick GOTG's Xbox particularly lol. I'll bet that's what happened.
Can I add, the original XBox is also a fun and great system to mod. It's a great emulation machine and you can even get the lightguns to work with emulated NES, SNES, and even Arcade games! Also, I live about 15 minutes from Treehouse Brewery :)
Love the Xbox and I've got 330 xbox games for some damn reason. Super underated and also cheap to buy for so thats probably why. Love the light gun videos as I have always been a fan of those type of games. I currently do not own a light gun for the xbox. In your opinion what would be the best option to buy? ........Sitting here smoking a cigar and drinking whiskey waiting paitently for a reply lol
Isn't there a button on the pelican silent scope gun so you can use the sight. I always thought you could turn it on and off and ajust the sensitivity. I was gonna buy one off market place but someone beat me to the punch. But im pretty sure i saw those buttons on the gun in the pictures.
The major problem with the Wii and Xbox versions of HOTD 3 is the bullshit reload animation. You get hit so many times just waiting for that animation to finish. I believe in the original arcade version, that animation is as fast as you physically pump the shotgun.
I have the Sniper Scope in Shotgun configuration with the gun mode set to normal. However shotgun action doesn't do anything. The game auto reloads when I run of rounds but I can't manually reload. Is this normal?
I wish the generation of gamers who never got to experience CRT Televisions gave them a chance!!! I can’t play retro consoles on modern screens…CRT Forever!!!
As an extreme Xbox fan as in game room primarily all Xbox stuff, the light gun is just something I haven’t ventured into with this console. It just doesn’t seem to be worth the hassle.😢

If you thought the games were cheap in the US, in the UK, Silent Scope Complete is £4 and the Xbox version of HotD3 is £8.
You guys know if you mod the xbox and give it 128mb ram then you can play the sega Chihiro arcade games Vitrual Cop 3 and Ghost Squad with the xbox light gun natively.
About 2% of me is thinking about finding a gun and tv. Ive already spent $200 on a steel battalion controller. A crt takes up too much room though
You could always snack a smaller CRT. 13-20 inch crt's look great.
I recently picked up DOA beach volleyball for the OG xbox. Its so simple its fun and yes the beeewbs.
Oh yes!
My 4 year old daughter loves House of the Dead 3 on Xbox. So do I! Wish an indie developer would make new light gun games for Saturn or Ps2.
Isn't there a button on the pelican silent scope gun so you can use the sight. I always thought you could turn it on and off and ajust the sensitivity. I was gonna buy one off market place but someone beat me to the punch. But im pretty sure i saw those buttons on the gun in the pictures.
Starsky and hutch does work with the Lightgun on ps2 that's great 2 players
I say my favorite light gun to play at home is Hogan's Alley.
I wonder how people both started and completed their original Xbox light gun game collection before the video was over. lol
I’m a PlayStation man. But have been thinking about get a 360 or a One. Still not sure. This looks great though.👍
360 is damn good. I love Playstation as well but the 360 has some rippers!
The major problem with the Wii and Xbox versions of HOTD 3 is the bullshit reload animation. You get hit so many times just waiting for that animation to finish. I believe in the original arcade version, that animation is as fast as you physically pump the shotgun.
Does Silent Scope work with the blaster controller?
I wish they would let you turn off auto reload in house of the dead 3. Kinda defeats the purpose of using the cool reload feature of that gun
I had no idea there were light gun games on the Xbox. I’m definitely picking up House Of The Dead.
There aren't many.....but HOTD and Silent Scope are worth the price of admission
Waited until I got a decent deal on the gun, after that snagged all the games shipped for under $60
It's hard to choose a fave, but I have been enjoying Virtua Cop 1 and 2 on the Sega Saturn a lot lately. Time Crisis 4 on PS3 might win out though.
All great! I wish there were more games for the gun con 3. Love that thing.
You guys make me want to run out and drop a bunch of money on all these light gun games and peripherals 😂😂
Sorry about that :)
@@GamingOffTheGrid I’ll let it slide this time fellas….
I have a sony trinitron 29" tube tv and 2 xbox og's LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....
Are there any light guns that work with Xbox X?
How about a modded xbox with cion ops
I have the Sniper Scope in Shotgun configuration with the gun mode set to normal. However shotgun action doesn't do anything. The game auto reloads when I run of rounds but I can't manually reload. Is this normal?
ps1 has the best catalog of light gun games.
My favs:
1) Point Blank 1
2) Elemental Gearbolt
3) Time Crisis: Project Titan
It's up there for sure. PS2 is pretty darn good as well.
@@GamingOffTheGrid also if I ever got into pcb collecting silent scope is the one I'd want the most!
Must. Find. Pump action. Controller!
I wish the generation of gamers who never got to experience CRT Televisions gave them a chance!!! I can’t play retro consoles on modern screens…CRT Forever!!!
100% with you!
where y'all buying lightguns these days? also... how can you get emulated ps games to work with lightgun on xbox??
As an extreme Xbox fan as in game room primarily all Xbox stuff, the light gun is just something I haven’t ventured into with this console. It just doesn’t seem to be worth the hassle.😢
Thanks for seizure .totally worth it
epic!!!!
House of the dead 2 runs/looks better on Dreamcast IMO. I remember being mildly disappointed when I played the xbox version
the original xbox was the ONLY semi descent console from microsoft, was pretty much dreamcast 2 in my eyes.
Wafflebanger is one of the most delicious beers
House of the Dead Overkill
Awesome and hilarious game!
Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil CVX and Resident Evil 4 Microsoft X Box
Biohazard Zero and Biohazard and Biohazard 2 and Biohazard 3 and Biohazard CVX and Biohazard 4 Microsoft X Box
