I missed the Kickstarter for this but bought them day 1 on Indiegogo. Can't wait to get it! Need to find some details on designing an Arcade cabinet around them. Seems the normal angle I see many have wouldn't be helpful so will take a bit I think.
Yeah, not long now :-) Linus got it wrong though, he started on Kickstarter and opened up Indigogo for upgrades for the original backers. I ordered just the standard gun at first but upgraded to the recoil when the option came up :-)
I think the gun is a bit too big. This is not very ergonomic. I prefer the shape of older light guns like the one that the first house of the dead used.
U guys very good at making reviews/videos. Very few understand the value of candidly including yourselves discussing features or making mistakes etc. Like in a classroom when someone too afraid to ask a question still gets to see others ask it
The reason it works "so well" and you're "so accurate" is because the detection range is massive and it's essentially the equivalent of having a fist-sized cursor on the screen(of that size).

@@han5vk it would be cool af, and maybe you could enable some sort of aim assist (i think cod:warzone has it for the mouse) so it sticks to the target or stabilize
I don't think it could work great, especially due to the jitters already mentioned. But if you're interested in something similar, there's a Game Arcade / Game Museum in Zoetemeer which you can visit and play with the "OG Guns" in a lot of those titles shown in the video (including the two Linus has played). I had a blast when I went there. They even have a sniper & SMG, not only a pistol :D
Movement would be hard but i guess you could implement buttons to turn 90°. One person controlling the character, the other shoots 😅. I don’t see this happening
So the old guns, When you press the trigger the sensor window watches for pixels on the screen and as soon as it detects the lit pixel on the screen, it sends a signal to console. Console then records this timestamp or this time instance. And then as it exactly knows at what time instance where the pixel should be, it checks for provided time instance where the lit pixel was. Then it checks if the lit pixel is within a specified range from the target and if it is then it confirms the hit. When the trigger on the gun is pressed te sensor should check for lit pixel and as soon as it detects a lit pixel it should send a signal to console to record the time instance. Because the trigger pressing time is slow, compared to pixel checking we can safely assume that when pressed the gun would detect a pixel and wouldsend the exact time stamp signal to the console. Thanks for reading a long answer.
It's getting better every year. The C7+ models fare a lot better than those before. Just take a look for yourself: www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real-life-oled-burn-in-test After 10,000 hours only red is really affected and only in the CNN sample is it really meaningful. And even there, if you don't use full brightness it drastically cuts it down. On average I use the TV 2 hours a day, sometimes 0, sometimes 4, depends if I have the day off etc etc. Getting to 10.000 hours will take me almost 15 years. And I won't be displaying only one thing over that time stretch. So yeah, personally, I am fine ;-) Oh yes, Samsung too, next year we will get QD-OLED, unless Corona delays stuff. Though only 30k/month at first. Also, LG just doubled it's output from 60k to 120k substrates/month. I expect a nice price battle to come in a few years. Or maybe some drops sooner since demand for TVs are down and you can't just have your 4 billion investment sitting around collecting dust. Interesting times ahead.
I was a backer of this on Kickstarter and hopefully will be getting mine sometime in the next few weeks now ......... lookin` forward to it as I have a lot of stuff in my Arcade cabinets that`s ready for it..... oh yeah

That transition from a comedy scene to a commercial scene was just majestic.
I'm in awe with this invention, it's such an obvious solution to the problem that needs so much mathematical knowledge. Super, super impressed, well done, Sinden.
2 Things to know about Linus:
1- There is always a segway to The sponsors
2- He will definitly Drop expensive hardware.
Love this Guy!!
He rides a Segway to his sponsors? Do they even make those anymore?
11:04 Actually, red is mostly player 1 in arcades. I have never seen blue as player one. Especially in the house of the dead arcades.
Time crisis might be the other way around? Long since I played it in an arcade
Ordered one red and one blue gun. Due to arrive sometime in October. Should be one of the first in Australia to have them! Keen!!
This light gun seems super cool and a great way to enjoy retro games that used a light gun but I am slightly bothered by the conversion to 16:9. Thankfully I noticed that a 16:9 to 4:3 option does exist but I wish they had shown that off.
After the first 30 second of this video, I was on Indiegogo yelling "TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!"
they are literally taking money now xD, there's an indie-gogo campaign open for the november batch. The thing is damn expensive, but not so much considering what it does and how much worst alternatives cost.
That was me when I first saw this on RetroManCave over a year ago. Just got my shipping notification, can't wait. th-cam.com/video/4-jbsT8O7PE/w-d-xo.html
I was about to get it too but I read that the gun is not compatible with Android. What does it mean? Also I don't know about emulation but doesn't raspberry pi 4 and other PCs used for emulation use Android? Searching for answers...
@@nayyarrashid4661 what? Why would PC use android? Pi usually uses Linux AFAIK. The creator is working on Android now.
I missed the Kickstarter for this but bought them day 1 on Indiegogo. Can't wait to get it! Need to find some details on designing an Arcade cabinet around them. Seems the normal angle I see many have wouldn't be helpful so will take a bit I think.
I ordered one of these guns with recoil some time ago, supposedly they ship in September Woo!
Yeah, not long now :-) Linus got it wrong though, he started on Kickstarter and opened up Indigogo for upgrades for the original backers. I ordered just the standard gun at first but upgraded to the recoil when the option came up :-)
*sees House of the Dead
"I'm Sold."
I think the gun is a bit too big. This is not very ergonomic. I prefer the shape of older light guns like the one that the first house of the dead used.
Absolute Longplay I want blow-back
House of the Dead on the wii still better tho.
@@floorgang420 did you play house of the dead: overkill on ps3 w/the move controllers? Want them to bring all the rail shooters to psvr
Really? Damn. I was hoping it would have the same detection range. Those original light guns were on point. I'll stick to my og and crt for now.
@@peterk1837 It's roughly the same as the original, which is also gigantic. It's fine for games, just not "like a mouse cursor" as it's marketed.
@@Spirit532 Ah I see. For me it's about being accurate to the original. But I can see your point. I was hoping it wasn't worse than the original, however it doesn't seem to be. Cheers.

"This should NOT work"
"Nothing else comes close to this"
Guess the 3rd title
?
DUCK SHOOTER SIM 2020
How about "This actually works" just to come full loop from the first, but still makes sense!
Going pro on Duck hunter (joining Faze clan!?)!!!
Linus goes PEW PEW.
@Nicefisher xD
What would we do without Anthony?! I’m glad he’s a part of the channel.
Title:"Nothing comes close to this"
TO WHAT? NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO WHAT?!
Just tell me what I can expect of this video.
To the screen
I mean, they're very clearly holding light guns in the thumbnail....
@@shakeelamlay130 And if you've got no idea what a light gun is like me? You'd have no idea what this video even relates to unless you watch it.
@@WDStevens oh god.... There is actually a generation now that doesn't know what a light gun is.................... Sad realisation... And I'm only 17.......
@@mataskart9894 Tbh, those just look like Nerf guns
Could this be used in any game as some mouse emulator?
Imagine using this in Battlefield or something!
Yes, it would just suck. You can see how much it jitters randomly. Much more speed and precision with a mouse.
You would get the same effect playing call of duty for the wii
So the old guns,
When you press the trigger the sensor window watches for pixels on the screen and as soon as it detects the lit pixel on the screen, it sends a signal to console.
12:20 Editor: WHO DIS?!
I would get this for Time Crisis and if I could get the arcade game CarnEvil I would use it on that too. Those games were great.
CarnEvil, yes!! Totally forgot about this game
Also, hi son
Glad I jumped on these a couple of months ago. I can’t wait to get them!
8:20 We have lived to see the oppressed become the oppressor, we all know Linus has employees do sponsor spots at gunpoint now.
You know you've broken a prisoner when it feels natural to say LTT.com on command
All I'm thinking is:
O man hope that static image doesn't burn in the OLED panel....
So broke
I'm worried about other people's OLED
lmao
If the border is set to pure white then it might be fine , It's red and orange that's burns in commonly or something
So yeah, personally, I am fine ;-)
Oh yes, Samsung too, next year we will get QD-OLED, unless Corona delays stuff.
I was a backer of this on Kickstarter and hopefully will be getting mine sometime in the next few weeks now ......... lookin` forward to it as I have a lot of stuff in my Arcade cabinets that`s ready for it..... oh yeah
2:18 - I find it weird having Anthony stare at me for so long, like some sort of weird in the background bodyguard xD
Anthony, you've lost weight!!! Keep it going!!!
ok.. this is legit really really cool. i have always been fascinated by light gun tech anyway this is so awesome
NOOOOO THE CHANCE OF THE MEME
Linus: Is that Duck Hunt on a flat screen?
Anthony: Always has been
And pointed the gun at linus
Haha
Linus: "I'm a blue guy."
Eiffel 65 noises in the background are getting louder.

So glad to see you guys picking this up. I’m excited to get mine!
Well, I've found my new Webcam.
