I have a white 2014 4.0 V6 with a bigger lift than that, and I still would NOT be doing that either!! Good grief, even a full lift kit is gonna take a beating after that 😂
Was a comparison done with and without all the extra weight of the steel bumpers and all the gear in the bed on stock suspension as well to see if the added weight played any part?
I got -Fox 2.5 front coilovers w/ reservoirs, Fox 2.0 Rear Shocks, Icon 2.5" AAL, JBA UCAs on my 04 double cab TRD off-road Tacoma, which cost $3,000. To me it was worth the price because the ride quality is way better than it was when it was stock.😊
Everyone that has ridden in my truck has their mind blown, and i get lots of looks in the middle of the dunes, best shocks for tacoma 2.5 ext travel with 2.5 bumps
I've always said this and I'll take it to my grave that Tacomas come with too stiff of a suspension, I'm not going to be in the Baja 1000 racing it anytime soon 😂
All the Tacomas come with crappy suspension. The Sport has skinny Hitachis which are terrible and dangerous offroad. The Offroad has the cheapest weak and skinny Bilstein 4100's which are only slightly better. The Pro has Fox suspension but Toyota only made it a 1 inch lift , so many offroaders replace it anyways. If Toyota made the Pro a proper 2 1/2 to 3 inch lift it would be fantastic but they're trying to save as much MPG as possible.
The have a full icon suspension in my truck - rides a little worse over small stuff than stock but big shit is no comparison, you can fly over stuff that would send your spine through your skill on the stock shocks.
That's basically what happens offroad you start bouncing up and down like a bunny rabbit and worse hit the undercarriage a lot. Its dangerous. Good shocks keep you going smooth and steady.
Lol but those icons likely need to be rebuilt after that. I had icons for four months before one blew on one of the easiest obstacles in the park. Had to limp two hours home with no fluid in one. Have Kings now and have never had an issue
That sucks, Have my icons for almost 2 years now on my tundra with 30k miles and zero issues. Probably will rebuild mine beginning next year. Best suspension I've ever put on a truck. Butter smooth on the freeway and so much control off-road. Those 3.0s were worth every penny.
Only pros come with upgraded suspension. I don't know about Tacomas but a base SR5 4runner is $38k and a TRD pro is $52k. That's a $14,000 price difference. You can have suspension that would blow the trd pro out of the water for half the price if you install it yourself (think of all the extra mods you could do too!)
It's just the SR5 Tacoma with standard suspension it would have been nice to see what the "off-road" Tacoma would have done with the Bilstein suspension 👍👍
The offroad has the cheap skinny Bilstein 4100's. I know a lot of offroaders and they hate them. And the Sport has the skinny crappy Hitachi's. Both suck. I have the Bilstein 6112's in the front and 5160's in the front and they're great on and offroad, although obviously not as good as high end Icon, fox, or King. A good suspension upgrade is definitely worth the moey.
See the thing is stock isn’t meant for off-road it’s meant for slightly off roading but not like really in the sence made for it they are set to damper potholes and be smooth on the ROAD not so yes ofc when you buy a suspension for off-road it will handle off-road good but try to corner that big hoe and watch how the front wheel comes off the ground like the trophy trucks bc there not made for that so yes they need an upgrade to do extreme stuff but for your normal person it’s fine if you want it to be better for something specific then make it that way like you did but don’t say it NEEDS IT no you need it for your application but somone eles might need stock or lowered or stiffened or whatever for there application dose it need something diffrent sometimes yes but it’s not necessary a necessity
I bought the Sport. One of the reasons was I figured 90% of the time I would be on road. But I ended up hating the suspension offroad. I kept bouncing up and down like a rabbit. I know I"m going to sound like a commercial for Bilstein, but I got the 6112s in the front, 5160's in the back, an AAL, and SPC UCA's, and the difference has been tremendous on and offroad. Both on and off feel great. To me a suspension upgrade is a must. I would eat ramen for months and sacrifiece to get a good proper 2 1/2 to 3 inch lift with good shocks.
Icons are actually a huge upgrade, when I installed my kit I was told to expect a huge difference, but even after fully expecting to be impressed, when I actually drove over the big bumps, I was shocked by how much better it was, and my truck even came with stock bilstiens.
Well, usually people don't just upgrade the suspension but they upgrade the tire size, modify the lift, add front bumper and under protector. So, I think it's fair enough for the video, but the caption is a bit misleading. :D
@@TrailBuilt Sorry. I have a compact car, pretty light 4 cylinder car, but the suspension is kinda hard on uneven road. I wonder if we can implement off-road suspension on a compact car to make the ride more forgiving on uneven road/bumps. Always heard people says compact/small cars will not have the comfort but idk if it’s that impossible
Just got my TRD lift kit done, but haven't had time to test it yet. I'm not sure if it's a massive improvement over stock, but better than notning since it was a free install lol.
@DFilthySmurf the test was done with an SR/SR5 model. Look at the grille. I have never seen a TRD Off-road that didn't have a sway bar unless someone took it off.
A lot of people don’t know what they are talking about and it shows in the comments. The suspension is everything here. Not the weight in the bed, not the bigger tires, but the suspension. That’s the most important difference in ride quality every time.
Dynamic is cool but stock looks fun
#1 COMMENT
More reliable too
Less maintenance too, and with the money it cost you could buy another car or motorcycle
Also; Stock is purpose built.....
For The Highway...
Fun for like 10 mins max😂
the tail swing on stock suspension is due to lack of weight in the back.
Dude was running one side on top of rut.
Just slot an extra pair of leaf springs into the rear and done.....
How middle-aged men envision their paved-commute to the office of their investment company
I wouldn't drive that fast down a road like that!!!! 😂🤣😅
Why not
Go to Jamaica you’ll be shocked on the mountain sides in the back of a taco
I have a white 2014 4.0 V6 with a bigger lift than that, and I still would NOT be doing that either!!
Good grief, even a full lift kit is gonna take a beating after that 😂
I do 😅
that's money talking right there
anybody that wasn't trying to sell something would never drive like that
oh and 😂😂emoji backatchya
That's easier than my daily commute to my farm.
Id be all over ICON if they came out with a 3/2in lift for my truck
Was a comparison done with and without all the extra weight of the steel bumpers and all the gear in the bed on stock suspension as well to see if the added weight played any part?
because stock don’t have all the extra weight from the metal bumper, rack, and bigger wheels so ofc it’s gonna stick to the ground more
I love my Icons on my Taco. Prob getting time for a rebuild. They’ve been on 6 or so years now. I use King 14”700lb springs up front.
Are they even on the same stretch of road? The top looks smooth compared to the bottom
The straight face at the bottom 😂😂
I got -Fox 2.5 front coilovers w/ reservoirs, Fox 2.0 Rear Shocks, Icon 2.5" AAL, JBA UCAs on my 04 double cab TRD off-road Tacoma, which cost $3,000. To me it was worth the price because the ride quality is way better than it was when it was stock.😊
Not the same test. More weight is loaded on the back of the Icon truck. Driven at different speed.
I mean for a stock suspension tho it really wasn’t that bad. On the stiff side, but overall looked pretty good.
that's really good for stock suspension.
its not a rally truck. or a jeep wrangler
Yeah definitely not the 20 psi 32” mud tires that did it 👀
You are correct. It definitely is NOT the mud tires that are making the difference.
The stock is GOOOOD
Dynamic takes all the fun out of it 😂
Everyone that has ridden in my truck has their mind blown, and i get lots of looks in the middle of the dunes, best shocks for tacoma 2.5 ext travel with 2.5 bumps
i love the song overlaid... has nothing to do with anything! lol
perfect visualization of suspension difference
Was the sway bar connected for both? Tire pressures?
Installed Stage 4 on my truck and they’re really supple
That's awesome
So i put some icons in front/ rear of my truck, can i drive at high speeds like 40 or 50mph on some of those roads and it be smooth like that?
The lower control arms sure look like chkn wings!
Why does it look like the bumper on the top truck is rattling around?
Lol I sing this song to my dog!! Haha
600 extra pounds of bed weight will make a difference
One feels good off road one feels good on road. I wouldnt want that much suspension travel in a daily driver
Comparison to the off road model or pro model?
I've always said this and I'll take it to my grave that Tacomas come with too stiff of a suspension, I'm not going to be in the Baja 1000 racing it anytime soon 😂
Man lots of stock bois in here hating on the aftermarket taco.
the ground in such icon is not tha bad
Range Rover suspension laughing in the corner
Lets see purposely built truck against stock...
Are they going the same speed?
And icon suspension burns out quick billstein is cheaper and lasts allot longer
all im seeing is your overland gear swaying side to side
yea lowkey not smart to do that with overlanding gear you could break shit real quick
I love my taco 😍
2 way different trucks come on
Where is this?
I want to say MOAB but I could be wrong, definitely somewhere out west!
King or fox
Try going the same speed and not adding extra weight in the back and we can talk about comparisons 🤦♂️🤣
Plus tires
How is this even a fair comparison? Dude has another 1000lbs
Stock is best don’t cost anything extra
Fair enough! 😂
try ford raptor
Музыка огонь))
Help 😂😭😭😭😭😭😭
Not if you buy the right Tacoma
All the Tacomas come with crappy suspension. The Sport has skinny Hitachis which are terrible and dangerous offroad. This is not an even comparison
Slow down a bit.
No need for speed like that in remote outback like that.
Just get. Gx460
Top truck has about 300lbs of gear on the bed. Not even a fair comparison.
Popped in to say the same. But it's more like 500 lbs.
However that’s not the thing making the difference here. It’s helping a tiny bit. But not nearly as much as you think
The have a full icon suspension in my truck - rides a little worse over small stuff than stock but big shit is no comparison, you can fly over stuff that would send your spine through your skill on the stock shocks.
Stock also has stock tires tires make a huge difference on ride quality
Facts looks like a tank coming at you vs a Honda civic lol
All I see is that front bumper bouncing up and down 🤦🏻♂️
That's basically what happens offroad you start bouncing up and down like a bunny rabbit and worse hit the undercarriage a lot. Its dangerous. Good shocks keep you going smooth and steady.

Come in not even a Trd off road or pro lol ofc that base model sr5 is going to be a huge difference

Stock suspension looks fun and bouncy though :(, it also looks like you can easily flip over lol
This is a great visualization! Including the fact that the Icons are supporting an RTT, bedrack, and more gear...
It's just the SR5 Tacoma with standard suspension it would have been nice to see what the "off-road" Tacoma would have done with the Bilstein suspension 👍👍
Yeah I agree, not a bad idea for next time though!

I want to see SR5 vs TRD PRO

good until you turn.
Even on stock he's still going fast I know by experience have the same truckran it stock and with upgraded suspension
All it is is a softer suspension, nothing special . You trade on-road handling for off-road comfort and handling 🤷🏻♂️
I bought the Sport. One of the reasons was I figured 90% of the time I would be on road. But I ended up hating the suspension offroad. I kept bouncing up and down like a rabbit. 😢 need for Passport/Pilot/Ridgeline
Some suspension is built for fast speeds others arent
king suspension: 🗿
🗿
i thinnk the suspention is getting broken
Icon vehicle dinámic it’s a jock
How does it establish that when before the whole chassis was moving and now it’s not. what achieved this it can’t just be the spring and shocks
Better shocks with different spring rates, compression etc. A lot can be done with basic suspension upgrades.
Your soundtrack needs an upgrade.
Fair enough 😂
Stock seems to do the job. No need to invest in mods 👴🏻
I see what you did there 😂
Icon sucks, does not hold up. It’s the equivalent of cheap junk
oof... That's a bold claim
The other vehicle also has a lot more weight on it like a roof rack in things that can be causing it to have better track from in the dirt
Well, usually people don't just upgrade the suspension but they upgrade the tire size, modify the lift, add front bumper and under protector. So, I think it's fair enough for the video, but the caption is a bit misleading. :D
I’m thinking I need these for my Tacoma!! 👍
Let us know if you ever need help finding a kit that fits!
Who drives like that?
Someone who has to pee really bad!
it would be worse after modification?
Not if done correctly.
Just take my $3000!
Fair enough 😂
looks like one is driving much slower and the video is sped up to look the same speed
My 4Runner pro Still sucked till I upgraded. Now a bit stiff on road but off road its smooth as butter some weight helps even necessary for dampening
guess someone doesnt know for what stock cars are built
The only thing is that it takes 2 business days to get to that speed
Yes this is tru I want aftermarket shocks 😞
thst is more than just aftermarket shocks. jst sayn
@@geemailgmail3463 Some good UCA's and an AAL will do it.
can it be incorporate into compact cars to make it more comfort
Not sure we follow your question... please elaborate.

Sweet! Let us know how it goes!
Failed to mention they removed the front sway bar. Watch the front wheels. 😂
Depends on the Trim. My Off Road doesn't have a sway bar.
@DFilthySmurf the test was done with an SR/SR5 model. Look at the grille. I have never seen a TRD Off-road that didn't have a sway bar unless someone took it off.
We all know we aint using them stock with them speed. We slow with it and its fine.
