This is great! Exactly the video I was looking for. I had a forgotten bag of fruit left in the trunk and you can imagine the smell. Will definitely try this. Thank you!
Hi George, glad you've found it useful & hope you've got rid of the smell. If it comes back repeat the process and leave the Baking Soda for as long as you can. Good luck! DIY Dick.
Never put baking soda on a carpet. Use specially made carpet cleaner for this purpose. Never vacuum baking soda unless you have a certified baking soda capable vacuum with a HEPA filter. For a car carpet this is not as important as home carpet, but even with a car carpet it will be difficult to get the baking soda out of the carpet.
@@tew.x1125 the problem is once you put baking soda on a carpet it will mess up any non-baking-soda compatible vacuum u use to vacuum the carpet from then on
I have a dog walking service and a new van with a closed back area, 1 dog I sometimes pickup for a walk is always so extremely excited that she pees a little in the back. I try to wash it off with the fire hose at my garage but in a few months time the smell build up and now it even reached the front area which is a closed area... Going to try baking soda after work today so hopefully it will work. There're no fabrics in the back, just leather, steel and wood. Thanks for this video!
Hope this worked for you. Do try several times with baking soda (even for days if possible!) if you can't get rid of the smell first time. Also to help clean & provide a basic level of protection for the leather take a look at something like Meguiars Leather Cleaner & Conditioner.
@@diydick434 yeah it worked perfectly 👌🏻 vacuumed it first, then used my steam cleaner to remove more dirt. Finished it off with baking soda, after 2 days vacuumed it and the smell was gone. Thanks
It would help to mention the name of the “yellow stuff”. I have been using a liquid spray call Odoban for years. It does not clean as it is not a degreaser however removes odors immediately and used by hospitals to kill bacteria , virus etc. You can spray it on dead rodents and will work extremely well. Great in situations where your home has water damage and wet carpeting. Sold in major department stores with different scents (lavender ,yucaliptis ) .
this helped a lot. I couldn't find that soap that you used at my local Walmart so I used Maguire's upholstery cleaner, and I did the other steps the same and the strong smell went away.
PLEASE HELP!! I have an AWFUL STALE URINE smell in my front driver's side floor carpet. I have tried pretty much everything. My last resort is gonna try the white vinegar/baking soda combo solution.
Never put baking soda on a carpet. Try a quart of hydrogen peroxide mixed with a teaspoon of dish soap, possibly with a minute amount of baking soda added. Since it is carpet you can try just hydrogen peroxide and soap with no baking soda, or specially crafted baking soda type carpet cleaner to replace the baking soda. Use caution as the hydrogen peroxide may affect the colors of your carpet. Be sure to check and follow the proper safety and chemical precautions when handling and mixing hydrogen peroxide.
Hi Carmen. It was Fabric Clean from the Chemical Guys - I find it good for stains (or in this case smells) that are a bit harder to shift, but without it being too aggressive & damaging what you are trying to clean.
DIY Dick thank you! I dropped seafood of all things all over my backseats and I’m having such a hard time getting the smell out I’ve tried everything! Right now it’s sitting in baking soda so let’s hope that does something! I’ll be sure to try this fabric clean next if it doesn’t work!
Leave the Baking Soda for as long as possible... days if you can + put plenty on. If the smell doesn't go fully or comes back repeat... it does work in the end. Fabric Clean & the like used with a scrubbing brush will certainly help though - just don't use too much water & be careful with any delicate fabrics. Good luck!
@@zanderesp4295 it got most of it out, I would have friends say they couldn’t smell anything but I would still smell it. Not sure if it was phantom smells or what but I trust that friends noses were better than mine. It works! lol
I get migraines with the smell of any perfume and the new car I got has a smell of perfume can anybody tell me how to get rid of it completely , so it smells like nothing please ?
If it is very, very strong, it could be on purpose as an attempt to hide a bad smell in the car. Have you bought it from a dealer? if so, keep a close eye to your rights on return if this is the case. I don´t mean to scare you, just so you are aware of this high posibility. Dealers don´t bother too much when cleaning cars they sell and the ones who do, they would rarely intoxicate the car on a smell.
Hello. Glad you enjoyed the video. So this was a product called Fabric Clean from the Chemical Guys - you should be able to get some from places like Amazon or Car Detailing stores/websites. It's very good without being too aggressive & will definitely help with puppy accidents! Other car interior cleaners or even carpet shampoo could work well too - just make sure whatever you use is suitable for the material you are using it on. Good luck!
