THIS WORKS!!!! I rent my car on TURO and a guest returned it smelling of weed BAD! I used ozium, fabreez, all the common name brand solutions and NOTHING worked. I did this exact thing (with a larger bowl, so it didn't spill). I left it over night, in the morning the bleach smell was strong, so I ran the AC for 20 minutes to circulate in the filter, turned it off and opened the doors for 15 minutes and it smells PERFECT. I can't thank you enough! Now my next guest doesn't have to feel uncomfortable and it won't hurt my business.

IT WORKED! I can't believe it! I bought a used car that smelled fine at the time, but the next day reeked of cigarette smoke. I tried cleaning the car, changing the filter, and using a "scent bomb". None of it worked. But this did! And it was so much more affordable than other options I researched.

When I worked for a big Ford dealership/Chevrolet store we just used a O-Zone machine in the cars. Worked perfectly ran it in the car with the window cracked for roughly an hour or two. “Car must be running with air circulation on”. Afterwards I’ve had cars that sat on the lot for months and no cigarette/animal smells never come back.

I'd been using Ozone Generators for a while, they work until the plates wear out. I've never used chlorine before, it seems like a great idea, I can't wait to try it out. I'm in Texas, and here marijuana is prohibited regardless of recreational or medicinal use, but I often find myself repossessing cars that smell like left over roaches.

I smoke but I can smell it in a car, especially when you first open the door on a hot day. Looked at some used cars recently and a couple made me gag ! What's even worse is heavy cologne or even air fresheners. I'd rather have the car smell like a car, period. My solution is to not smoke in the car at all.

Bought a used car with dog smell in it. I can recommend the bleach to get rid of dog smell. After trying white vinegar mixed with water in a spray bottle (which left a residual vinegar smell PLUS the dog odor); a mixture of vodka and water in a spray bottle (another home remedy found online); Fabreze; leaving baking soda in a bowl overnight - two times.... I finally tried the bleach solution in this video. The first time it did nothing (perhaps because it was in the 30's since it's winter time and the bleach pool pellet didn't dissolve well). So I thought I'd give it one more shot with the bleach before looking for another solution. The second time using the bleach, I heated up water on the stove before adding the bleach to help the bleach dissolve better and then put the mixture in the car inside a red Solo cup. This morning the residual vinegar smell and remaining dog smell - which has gotten less after all these attempts, but not completely gone - was completely gone. But now I have a bleach smell in my car. It's not the "pleasant clean smell" that's mentioned in the video. It smells like bleach - which if you associate with "clean", then you'll be happy. To me, it smells like bleach i.e. a chemical smell. Better than the f*cking dog smell, but an unwanted odor nonetheless. I've left the car windows open sitting in the driveway and even drove around a bit with the car windows open. Maybe back to the Fabreze or some other pleasant-smelling scented product to get rid of the bleach smell...

Tried this and left sitting overnight almost 12 hours and used two disposable plastic cups with pool tablets/water one in front and one in back. I also sprinkled baking soda everywhere as well. The water in both cups had turned yellow when i checked this morning. The odor is not as bad i guess but you can still smell it with the chlorine "clean" smell. I left it in today while at work. This evening i'll vacuum it all out and see what happens. I bought the truck (Ext. cab F150) on Saturday with what i can best describe as a pet smell. It had been vacuumed out so no hair was really present with the exception of the glove box and crack/crevices.

It becomes a really good cleaner, with a neutral charge that cleans better than most household cleaners, kills all the germs and bacteria that cause odour, and reverts back to natural producs so is environmentally friendly!

the cloro tab trick is nothing more than a stronger smell. There isn't enough to do anything beneficial.
Too rid the car of smells, use ammonia. Yes, everyone says dont use ammonia based products. If you leave the ammonia lying around it will cause damage - so dont leave it lying around. Use a diluted solution of ammonia/water and with a rag wipe the surfaces, and within a few minutes wipe again with a clean water rag, thus not leaving any ammonia behind. Ammonia is your friend is you use it the right way. Same applies to the ozone genny, its needs to be powerful enough (min 3g/ph) but dont leave on for too long, 30 mins max. The ozone can cause hydrogen peroxide to form in undesirable places, so probably best to dehumidfy the car first.

Actually your trick on removing smells from home or car; the following works real well: Get a plate or food storage container (without a lid). Place a slice of white bread on the plate or in the bottom of the food storage container. Add about 1/3 cup of liquid bleach on the bread (should see a small puddle of liquid bleach around the bread). Place the plate or container in the area with the doors and windows closed. Leave in the closed area for 24 hours. Remove the plate or container and air out the car or house.

I use an ozone generator, it works, but it only works if you clean it out first. If I ozone a car, and the ash tray is still full, after a day, or even a few hours, it'll still smell like ash. You have no idea how many cars I've repossessed and the car reeks of marijuana. I'm in Texas and marijuana is illegal here, for both recreational and medicinal use, but I still find myself repo'ing cars that smell like left over roaches.

I also use an ozone machine. Was only about 100$ on Amazon. Yeah the car needs to be thoroughly detailed before

These chlorine tablets caused electrical issues in my car. Be careful people
Radio volume, blue tooth and low tire light all malfunctioning. Heat is occasionally blowing full blast even though it’s turned off. Doest really work on fabrics like the seats .

Try not to breathe in the fumes when breaking up the chlorine tabs. That stuff is nasty & bad for the lungs.

I’m not sure how to use vinegar in a car but I soak my bath towels in hot water and vinegar in my washer for 30 minutes and the run it and no more odors. Probably would work in a car too.
