  • Here's a way to try to remove pet odors yourself for cheap.
    most vacuum manufacturers would recommend not sucking up baking soda, so try at your own risk.
    over 2 years later my vacuum is still working fine.

    For carpet furniture dents, place an ice cube and let it melt….pad dry & use a soft brush to lift the carpet threads to normal.
    PS( (if the dent is bigger than an ice cube, then use 2.

    If you have a wet/dry shop vac, it will not harm the motor. Especially with the bag added ones.

    For those in Europe/UK, baking soda is called Bicarbonate of soda, it’s found in the cookery aisle! 😊

    I thought you would have to lightly work it in with a broom before you let it sit overnight!?

    All vacuum companies say DO NOT vacuum baking soda or carpet powder because it will eventually kill your vacuum cleaner, the powder gets stuck inside the motor. I learned that myself the hard way when our new vacuum died in just a few months, the motor started to burn.

      True, I learned this the hard way as well.

      Use a bagged vacuum.... the powder would need to go through both the bag and the filter to get to the motor. Or alternatively just buy some cheap $50 vacuum

      I need to remember that this fellow is a rental property owner. Having a dedicated vacuum cleaner for these properties, I see the vacuum as a lightly maintain and throw away item. This is a mild expense for property maintenance and a brilliant way to save a bundle. Even at $150 for a vacuum........professional carpet cleaners are hard on the carpet adding another savings to extending the life of the carpet. Good on you man.

    Thank you for the video but I would never do this as it’s been proven to ruin vacuums. Carpet powder is made to do so exactly what you’re trying to do. It’s more coarse and won’t ruin the vacuum motor

    I know the video is 2 years old but did you clean the vent that's on the floor I would think urine would get down in there if that room was for pets maybe thats a factor to why it smells like dog 🐕

    • @PlatoonGarage
      @PlatoonGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I actually never thought to clean the vents, but that is a good idea. The baking soda worked like a charm and I haven't had an issue since.
      The odor wasn't urine thankfully, it was more like the dog probably laying on the carpet for long periods of time

      I bottle of peroxide, 1/3 cup baking soda, tsp Original Dawn. Mix and soak the area. I take a bissel carpet cleaner or you can just get it out by hand with a towel like you would a carpet stain.
