      hello there, I have the 2024 at4 1500 with the lzo and I recently bought all upgrades ppl has to offer for this engine, and my question to you is it really worth it? have you seen any major gains ,hp, tq. mileage? I'm hesitant to install it all as its still all brand new in boxes because I'm not really sure that after upgrading it all I dont need some kind of tuner to help with all the upgrades that the ppe parts are adding to the engine. please advise as to what your experience has been .thank you

    I've been a fan and supporter of your page since I purchased my 2021 AT4 LM2 and began researching the trucks. About a year and a half ago, I bought mine with 50,000 miles on it. Since then, I've installed the PPE intercooler-your installation video was incredibly helpful, especially because I only received half of the instruction manual. I've also added PPE oil/tranny/diff pans and the intake pipe, among some other minor add-ons like Bilstein 5100s and RC control arms, which help fit the Nitto Recon 295 60 20 tires with minimal rubbing at full tilt, for those who might be curious. I'm sharing all this because I owe much of it to you and your informative videos. Thanks to your guidance, I feel much more confident in my truck's longevity, so again, thank you. However, I'm currently on the lookout for a PPE catch can, but I stumbled upon a VSE one instead. Do you have any insights on it?

      He did put together a video of the common leak points, also has a video of the oil pump belt replacement and the fuel system. Agreed though it would be nice to have it all in a long format and touch on some of the other issues. I believe there’s a lot of wire chaffing issues and areas to look at where it might need better routing to avoid higher mileage chaffed wires.

      @SPThor Those are both great videos. With some of the LM2s having been around for almost five years at this point, I'm curious to see if any other problems have reared their head. I would have put money on DPFs crapping out left and right at this point

      I had a situation with my 2020 3.0 where the DEF was leaking into the EGR system through a small crack. It kept throwing a NOX sensor code which I had replaced 3 times by the dealer. Turns out there were 3 other trucks in there for the same thing.

      @@cje26I monitor issues on forums and TSBs being put out by GM as close as possible. I have not really seen any DPF issues outside of the unfortunate instance of someone putting DEF in the diesel tank. The emission system seems to be pretty reliable.

    I am about to start shopping for a diesel pickup.l, most likely a lower mileage LML and/or a 3.0 Duramax. Either way, my goal is longevity, so to do get there, I am making my truck more durable, dependable and improve drivability.
    This video is very insightful with great content in that the 3.0 Duramax engines (LM2/LZ0) seems to take backseat to it's bigger brothers, the 6.6 Duramax Engines, in terms of tuning, aftermarket solutions and mods.
    It appears that the 3.0, just like the other Duramax engines, have untapped potential. This video may definitely influence my choice of a future purchase. Thanks for work put forth for this video and its content.

    I have a CTS3 and have been running it for a while, I also had one on a 2002 7.3 SD for about 2 years. I loved it on the 7.3, not in love with it on my 3.0. I seem to have issues with it freezing and not waking up on startup. Probably 50% of starts I have to wake it up manually and every once in a while, it goes right back to sleep. It’ll freeze up about once a month and I have to disconnect and reconnect it, sometimes upwards of 8-10 times to get it to work correctly. I have it completely up to date with their update software. Otherwise, I like the mount and display, I run the 9 parameter display primarily to watch RPM, EOT, ECT, gear/TCL, TFT, Regen status, IAT, EGT and one more I can’t remember. and the 4 parameter display to watch regen. If I was to do it again, I’d run 2 banks gauges and will probably swap eventually.

    What oil additive if any do you run? Also, what fuel additive do you recommend? I usef seafoam both in the oil and in my fuel in my 2.8 until I discovered diesel klean. Up until it was totaled I still used seafoam in the oil at least, but I would think there'd be something better specifically for diesel?

    Has this engine ( more so the first version since its been out longer ) had issues start to show up with the injector pump failing. The reason I ask, I now am hearing that the HP4 pumps on the 6.6 are showing up some failures as in steel going through the system and the huge expense involved with replacing the fuel system although I don't think as bad as what the CP4 on the GM with no electric assist pump was.

    Hi, I really like the detail you get into on your channel for this engine. I have a 2023 with the 3.0 LZO and it is my first diesel truck and I am very impressed with it. That being said I have a question regard oil temp, by the way I have had the Banks Super Gauge and it is probably the best add I have applied so far. Anyway my question pertains to what you said about oil temp and when it approaches 280 degrees. If I am on the highway my engine hovers around 230 or so and that to me is dangerously close to that limit you set of 280 before oil starts breaking down. I want to start pulling a camper trailer and I know that will add load and temp to the engine. What is a good oil cooler to install and where? Same question for the trans cooler. I look forward to you response. Thanks again for doing what you do here for this subject.

    Quick question. I performed a transmission service on my 2021 Chevy 3.0 LM2. I purchased a new transmission pan gasket. I torque everything to specs but seems a little oil is dripping from the pilot hole for the gasket. Could that be residual oil from putting the pan up and the new gasket? It’s shifting great and I don’t see any oil coming from anywhere else

    • @DemonWorks
      @DemonWorks  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Could be residual or an actual leak. Easiest way to verify is to thoroughly clean the area then recheck it after driving. It only takes a slight misalignment to get a leak but I am hoping it's just residual! Please let me know your findings as it may help myself and others in the future!

    • @DemonWorks

      K&N intake was my favorite for noise, but you will need the intake tube to get the most out of it. Cheapest would be the S&B intake as it comes with the box and the tube. th-cam.com/video/d8T0w3dt63Y/w-d-xo.html

    No info on the PPE transmission thermal bypass valve. What are your thoughts? Does it get tranny fluid TOO cold?

    • @DemonWorks
      @DemonWorks  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That wasn’t included because this was mainly for the engine.
      I have a few videos on the valve. It works great, always flowing.

      MPG - none. EGT, unsure but the charge air cooler helps keep the intake temps in check under high load situations

      GM Def not required, just def fluid that is clean and not expired or damaged by temp/uv. Sounds more like you have an issue that hasn't been able to be diagnosed properly so the finger gets pointed your direction. that's just an assumption by me though.

    Well, it looks like the Banks Derringer for the LM2 / LZ0 is dead. The L5P is out and Banks removed all reference to the Derringer for the 3.0 Duramax from their website. I have been waiting so long but now I guess I need to look at the Edge EZX. Have you heard anything out of Banks that might make me want to wait?

    • @DemonWorks
      @DemonWorks  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      L5P for the 2024 is not out, that's the one to watch for. The Edge is out now whereas the derringer is not, so if you want one now, that is a good option. From what I hear from Banks, it is on hold.

    There’s just so many different opinions on catch cans out there with no real studies. I’d like to see 2 different engines torn down after 30K to see if it really works

    • @DemonWorks
      @DemonWorks  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not necessarily the engines, it's more about the exhaust filters. The specifications and requirements based around the oil are because of what they do to the exhaust filters. I'm more curious if the soot mass takes longer to accumulate after a catch can vs before. In addition, there have been numerous 3.0 trucks with oil leaks from the intakes splitting and oil pouring out of them. We shouldn't be burning oil.
