    Just completed the CP3 conversion on 8/10/23 Inspected the pump regulator and fortunately there was no metal contamination. Also per Fleeces recommendations I replaced the left hand fuel rail regulator and the entire injector return line system, Will say I did have some challenging moments during this project but it all worked out in the end. Even though I installed an Airdog lift pump a year ago and the instructions provided a way to remove the factory fuel filter I opted to keep the factory filter for more filtration. Truck started right up after 2 hand primes with the factory filter primer. I immediately took it out for a short test drive and it ran perfect. After making sure the coolant was topped of I to it back out for another run. After getting back home I connected the scanner and no codes popped up. Put DPF into forced regen which took about 40min. The next day I hooked up my 34ft. 5th Wheel and took it on a 10 mile drive with the scanner connected and it ran good and no codes. Very happy with the Fleece kit and would recommend this to any LML owner to do the conversion especially for the piece of mind. If you have some mechanical skills and a decent inventory of tools it can be done. I am 76yrs. old and a retired aircraft mechanic so I guess I might have had a little more background in maintenance but after watching this video twice it gave me the confidence to tackle the job.

    Thank you for creating such detailed video! Huge time saver! Seeing you laying over the engine bay made look up topside creepers and I bought one, man, that was a game changer. I couldn't imagine leaning over the engine for the better part of 2 days without it. Thank you again! One more thing, I ended up taking the heat shield off the backside of the turbo, the 3 bolts weren't rusted and it made getting access to the devil bolt on the high pressure crossover a little easier.

    Instead of trying to get to that tricky bolt on the throttle body I took the two bracket bolts off further down 13mm by the glow plug control and wormed it out. A lot easier to get to.

    Thanks for this video! I'm at 197,000 with my factory CP4. However, I've replaced most of the EPA gear. Even that doesn't bother me as much as the whole limp mode thing. First time was 130 miles out of Whotehorse, YK enroute to Alaska. Last time was on I95 in South Carolina. Both major safety issues due to the unreasonably short mile allowance.

    I just purchased the latest CP3 Fleece kit for my 2016 LML in July 2023. They made a major change in how the dosing lines connect. It now has two flex lines that run from a special banjo bolt on the top of the pump that connects to what they call a cascade block. Also the temp. sensor in mounted into the cascade block that will allow it to function. Also in the instructions when done it states to do a forced regen which I don't see where that was mentioned in the older kits. I bought a scan tool just for the regen. Probably going to start this project next Monday the 31st' of July,2023. I haven't had a failure of the CP4 with 40,000 miles on the truck but this will give me peace of mind hopefully.

    I live in Canada and I know I must sound cheap but God you look at what's in the kit and your like 1100$ cad really. 2800 with the pump... 1100 for a lift pump. Stuff starts to ad up quick. I'm not poor but these prices sometimes make you wonder. I called a shop to get this stuff quoted asked for "emissions upgrades " and cp3 pump . Told me over 10k. It's winter here so I'm not working outside . Thank God for channels like this showing people how to do this stuff

      As part of the current generation of mechanics the gm trucks with duramax engines are by far the most difficult to work on. Lots of unintuitive ways to repair anything on the truck. Most repairs are done through the inner fender well which isn’t easy and by pulling the cab. I’ve pulled more cabs on gm trucks than fords 2 fold

    • @Demonlord468
      @Demonlord468 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ZR1Terror Ford does not use a Common Rail Pump for its fuel it instead relies on Oil Pressure from a High Pressure Oil Pump sending fuel to the injectors. And its a lot easier to get to and work on than this for sure. These are also found on Cummins Engines though which I was not aware however it is WORLDS easier non the less on the Cummins Engine than a Duramax. Duramax is one of the hardest engines to work on for just about anything ive ever had the misfortune of working on.
      And ill admit as much as I love the Ford 7.3L there's some things on those that are a Pig to work on. Cummins is very easy to work on for most repairs just because of the inline engine design compared to the V8 design on the Ford and Chevy engines which give you tons more room to work with. Especially anything to do with the Turbo which is piss easy to work on compared to Ford or Chevy.

    Great video . What I find odd is the fact that GM knew there where problems with the CP4 clear back to around 2013 on those LML's but yet continued to use them instead of changing back to CP3's or redesigning one to put out the proper fuel pressure that the system was designed for with improved build quality and durability . The one your fixing is a 2016 model ,,, so all that time later and they never even tried to improve that problem . It seems to me that they didn't have the customer in mind too much on that , as that can be a very expensive repair for a customer if that CP4 fails and spreads metal shavings all through the fuel system . I think that that's pretty shitty on their part . I own a 2013 LML 6.6 V8 Turbo Duramax 3500HD Crew Cab , and I'm seriously considering swapping to CP3 on mine for preventative maintenance . Currently sitting at 90.000 miles on it right now . Thanks for the video . Nicely done !

    My LML is built for Off Road, therefore it is EGR Deleted with New Down pipe which deleted my "Dulcer" Line?? I think thats what you calling it? So where the Dulcer? Line attached to the top of the block it is just plugged off on mine. Since the CP3 comes with that Dulcer line attached does that have to be reattached or how do I handle that? I dont have the banjo washer anymore or the dulcer line that I remove from the Down pipe to the top of the block.. I have a plug where it attached to the Injector? I am asking before I have watched the full installation so maybe you address that later in your video.. if so, NEVERMIND.. lol Great video so far.. With mine being deleted it will be a lot easier than the guys working on factory assy's. Thanks for the video.

      I did a turbo rebuild on my 2011 LML which if anybody has ever done that, the is another bolt at the base of the Turbo that Satan also located. That was a very daunting R&R but I just walked away from it and kept my patience and finally was able to finish the task.. was very rewarding completing that rebuild. New up pipes as well.. a lot of scratched knuckles and sore fingers when I got done but was worth it.. I feel if I can do that, this CP3 will be fairly easy.. Just need to know how to get around that Dulcing? line that he keep refering to. I capped mine off per the Delete instructions for the new Down pipe.
