I love zerg! It's just so inspiring and cool to watch a biological army crush a mechanical army! And the different units, the designs, attacks, spells and different other abilities, it's amazing!
All of these casters are living the dream, they started off small, casting sc1 games, but now Husky and Day9 are featured on the frontpage of HOTS and SC2 WOL and Day9 is even casting Battle Reports... Just goes to show u that with perseverance, you can do anything
So are we going to see some mirror matchup games? I love PvP and I would really like to see how the metagame would change with the new units and tactics.
The 10 second fuse is more than a big enough drawback. It makes it so that unlike with banelings, one mine won't be enough to do anything. You simply separate the one that was tagged and move on. They would only be effective in numbers.
Yeah, I agree. It can totally be used in that sort of "cannon fodder" role, but it can't be used as a siege unit. Siege units do damage from a distance and they force the opponent to come out of his base to deal with it. The Swarm Hosts can easily be shut down with cannons or tanks so there's no need to come out. I would prefer to have a lurker because it would give Zerg a home base advantage.
He is more of a color commentator, focused on being energetic and over the top. Day9 is better known for his analysis and insight into the game because he is an active pro as well as a caster.
The mines seem OP. 75/25 for 200 damg + splash, attacks from burrowed state and can even take out air units and they can be built 2 at a time. A group of those could take out an entire army at once. Will be interesting to see how they will be balanced
I never once said a Marine or a Tank (or any unit for that matter) missed! I merely implied that they will shoot at the locusts which are insignificant targets. If they shoot the locusts those are shots that don't hit the primary units. It doesn't matter how many locusts you kill, just like it doesn't matter how many Broodlings you kill. If you don't kill the Swarm Host or the Brood Lord, you're simply wasting your shots while your units are taking damage from from everything else.
I love how they don't just go "Now, when we designed the Viper, we thought it'd be best to have a Zerg unit that was versatile and blah blah blah..." They just throw two players against each other and talk like sports commentators!
But the hay-wire could also hit air as well. An anti-armor anti-air is something the terran mech army would do well with. And a big point of the new hell bat and war pig was to add more mobility to the terran mech army.
I was wondering, if I only have wings of liberty, would I be able to get the new multiplayer in heart of the swarm updated and play with those who got heart of the swarm ?
although there was one good point about using zerglings to clear the mines, which could be very effective. the biggest issue i think is that you have to rush detection and rushing lair that quickly vs terran in the current metagame usually spells trouble. i dont know about most zergs but i dont get lair till around 9 minutes or so after i've secured a third with queens and ling bane. terran on the other hand cna do a reactor hellion opening and get complete map control with this within 5 min.
will use these fairly frequently. And, this is from Zerg perspective, seeing as SH are the only risk-free counter to these and that these have the potential of blowing up your army, if majority of Terran players starts building these as a cheap but effective way of gaining map control, then majority of Zerg will be forced to build SH's in every game. That's not like other counters because every other unit I can think of can be killed in multiple ways, but these widows can seemingly only be
Widow mines still aren't equivalent to cannons and spine crawlers. The terran "equivalent" would be bunkers, which are effective and cost almost nothing (except the little mineral float until you salvage).
While I hear you Colossus are rather easy to counter, their longevity can be increased when placed near stalkers. Since most counters to colossus do not have a ground attack (vikings, corruptors, phoenixes) the stalkers will be able take care of them before they are able to threaten the Colossus, or at worst you make a good trade.
I love this. I'm fairly new to StarCraft: Wings of Liberty. Seeing how Blizzard is trying to make this game as balanced as Brood War, makes me feel all exited. It's going to take them, maybe, around 6+ years to make this game as smooth as the first one. I mean, it took 7 years to make Brood War as Balanced as it is now.
ahh so they changed that from the initial preview then. Originally Thor was gone for Odin and the Warhound was supposed to have a mini splash AA attack. Things change by the way and I haven't been keeping up as much with HOTS as I'd like.
True, but anti air units like the phoenix should be able to shut them down fairly easily. However you'll probably want to be more wary of the blinding cloud ability which reduces the range to one. At any rate you'll probably want to focus vipers down regardless of if you have colossus or not.
It's a show match, they're just highlighting new units... Terran units all basically come from the factory, so the player went 'pure' mech to show the Hellbats (even thought Hellion mode would probably have been better vs. the Hydras), and the Zerg is basically relying on Viper/Hydra/SwarmHost
Then it just becomes a mech version of the marauder. The problem with the warhound wasn't just that it was badly balanced, it was also completely unnecessary. Terran doesn't need another unit to stand in front of tanks and take the hits while still being able to deal reasonable damage, they have marines, marauders and hellbats (updated combat hellions) for that.
In a real TvZ, this match would have been: mass muta and good night
My anwser : widow spam
Jeremiah Maelarsten these are facts
thors pepega
the thors would destroy them
That burrow charge is way OP.
DAMN, that was an epic smackdown. You and Nromulous had no asses left when SuperTroll finished with you.
I love zerg! It's just so inspiring and cool to watch a biological army crush a mechanical army! And the different units, the designs, attacks, spells and different other abilities, it's amazing!
abduct looks like it needed a huge nerf, hopefully it did.
THIS IS HISTORY!
Marines. Where's the marines.
All I'm hearing is "zerg OP, terran OP, and protoss OP"
If they're all OP then who's truely OP?
nice chemistry between shoutcasters , would love to see more
This is better than watching a NBA match
widow mine are trashy op
I like how excited the announcers get at some points in the match.
Those Hydra death animations were pretty hilarious
I like fake games better than real ones.
one of the most professional looking youtube people ever
I do hope you all realize this was posted 8 months ago, and the amount of changes from then until now are really quite substantial.
All of these casters are living the dream, they started off small, casting sc1 games, but now Husky and Day9 are featured on the frontpage of HOTS and SC2 WOL and Day9 is even casting Battle Reports... Just goes to show u that with perseverance, you can do anything
Wow, never seen a true multiplayer game up until now. Must say it's impressive!
Came here from 9 years ago.
I love that the Viper can gain energy by absorbing building health. Really fits the distinctive psychotic zerg style
that particular adventure was quite fun!
So are we going to see some mirror matchup games? I love PvP and I would really like to see how the metagame would change with the new units and tactics.

OMG! That was sick!!!!! I can't wait for March!!!!

Just Hydra speed and hydra death animation makes HOTS epic. Finally the hydras are back in action...just as it should be!

Yeah, it's quite fun to come up with stuff like this.
For instance a upgrade for broodlords that allows them to fire queens :s
I want to download this game because I loved the movie and the star craft heroes from heroes of storm. What do u need to exactly?

No death animation for the widow mine?
I can't believe the game is so OP months before the beta starts. OMG.
what better way to showcase Hots than with a classic Terran vs Zerg
Does anyone else wonder what happened to the queen graphic they had here? Why it's not in the new hots stuff?
interesting how the "combat drug" has different icon on production tab compared to reactor
That ultralisk ability was the most op thing I've ever seen...
I love how they don't just go "Now, when we designed the Viper, we thought it'd be best to have a Zerg unit that was versatile and blah blah blah..." They just throw two players against each other and talk like sports commentators!
I want that picture on your wall.. Where do we buy it???
Will the Zerg Vipers be able to regen feasting on allied structures in multiplayer setup ?
But the hay-wire could also hit air as well. An anti-armor anti-air is something the terran mech army would do well with. And a big point of the new hell bat and war pig was to add more mobility to the terran mech army.

May I ask, what did actually happen with the warhounds? I wasn't really keeping on track with sc2 HOTS lately.
Air support to avoid seige tanks? I agree though, I'm still struggling to find a use for them now.
Spider mine hitting air kinda seems odd do they damage buildings as well?
I have a question, when a unit touches a widow mine, does the player (the enemy of course) know wich unit has it or not?
Well...The ultralisk burrow charge has been removed, and the widow mines have becom ranged, so stuff is still being tested and changed.. :)
where have u been
wait do spider mines also stick to detectors like overseers and observers?
What's the name of this map? I know it's an old video but maybe someone some day will answer me. I need this name, badly. Thanks.
Hefasto They say the name during the intro, Howling peaks.
Thank you very much, sir. Have a good day.
WHEN DOES IT COME OUT????
widow mine look really sick.
isn't the 3rd battle report coming out today?
although there was one good point about using zerglings to clear the mines, which could be very effective. the biggest issue i think is that you have to rush detection and rushing lair that quickly vs terran in the current metagame usually spells trouble. i dont know about most zergs but i dont get lair till around 9 minutes or so after i've secured a third with queens and ling bane. terran on the other hand cna do a reactor hellion opening and get complete map control with this within 5 min.

i would assume they would, but they could only attach to units they could see, so they could only get observers if the observers were detected
anyone know the theme song played at the start when day9 does hes intro?
Just a question. How are you meant to counter Vipers?
Wait has this ultra burrowing been nerfed now ? or removed, seems soooo OPP
Sean, where did you get that t-shirt?
Widow mines still aren't equivalent to cannons and spine crawlers. The terran "equivalent" would be bunkers, which are effective and cost almost nothing (except the little mineral float until you salvage).
What do the lines mean that are put on the command center? sorry never played this
I was watching carefuly and those tings can also get the air units, soo the mass muta or the zerg death cloud arent enough
I consider that as a praise for the Zerg. Thank you :)
Where can I buy this game, I can't find it in the game store in my town
what is the name of the music in the start

i would do anything for that painting behind Day[9]
I have only played starcraft 2 a few times , but i wonder what does the queens do that is so important?
Guy's I finally found the StarCraft II Wingsb- Zerg Logo T-Shirt.
Amazing
I love this.
I'm fairly new to StarCraft: Wings of Liberty.

The Swarm Host is not a siege unit. They can be easily denied. They can't "shoot" up or down cliffs.
Its odd they never even added the ultralisks burrow charge in multiplayer. i only seen it in the campaign or well use it.
Can someone please tell me? Will the consume ability for the vipers be able to consume enemy buildings?
wait until u see the next battle report coming this monday
@iamunphazed Wait , what replaced the warhound?
when is this game will be out
ahh so they changed that from the initial preview then. Originally Thor was gone for Odin and the Warhound was supposed to have a mini splash AA attack. Things change by the way and I haven't been keeping up as much with HOTS as I'd like.
Well, the expansion name is 'Heart of the Swarm' so what'd you expect?
cant wait to my hands on this game only game i play all day long widow mines looks nasty great video great game
12th of Mart if I am right.. I'm sure it is Mart but not sure what is exact date.
See the widow mines just piss me off. Did they change them?
What is the counter to the ultralisk charge?
Day9 is THE best commentator!
its live. they see what the players are researching and creating in the upper left corner of the screen.
so vipers are basically flying defilers form the first game?
True, but anti air units like the phoenix should be able to shut them down fairly easily. However you'll probably want to be more wary of the blinding cloud ability which reduces the range to one. At any rate you'll probably want to focus vipers down regardless of if you have colossus or not.

how do you make it so there is no leging
this new season can play multiplayer offline?
You're a couple months behind on patches hehe. They've workshopped it a bit.
Then it just becomes a mech version of the marauder. The problem with the warhound wasn't just that it was badly balanced, it was also completely unnecessary. Wow, that Combat Drug feature makes Reapers seem OP.
you sir are a god among gods...taking 2 troll hards at once? damn bro nice job
Never had anything to do with Starcraft up until watching this video. Looks interesting.
Do you have to buy SC2 HOTS , or do you can get it free if you bought the normal SC2 already ?
hi, can you tell me the requirements minimum and reconmmended pc?? thank you very much
17:16 "OH AND THE HYDRAS ONCE AGAIN, dealing a bit of damage." Quote of the year
Thank the Lord the spider mines are back, was my favorite thing from Starcraft 1
I can't wait for some Vipre action!
Abduct is likely going to be the most essential ability for the Zerg come this new Expansion!
What will terran do against mass muta now that the thor is gone?
