i can`t believe how this game has develop , in the mid game the protoss was nearly on knees and then he turned game in his favor , omg this was epic battle
it was the Oracle, it brutalized the zerg's mineral mining so that once his units died, he couldnt reproduce them fast enough and sustain the push to win
"Incredible job on the Oracle" Yes, truly incredible skills required.. Select Oracle, press hotkey for Entomb, click minerals, back out to map edge. Repeat.
Back in broodwar there's also a 'complex interaction'-devourer's acid spore, accompanying each attack is a AoE debuff that stacks on air units around the target, each debuff will increase the damage the enemy take by 1/9, and increase their weapons cooldown by 1/9. Devourers have low dps but with this ability they are very important in ZvZ muta vs muta battles, I can also see this get along pretty nicely with the tempest, a unit that has low dps, but can still contribute to a battle.
They simplified hotkeys recently which makes things easier, as well as added some training matches for you to get the ropes of controlling units, building, etc. There is always just campaign, which is fun in itself.
most def the example i like to use is consider water in game that shows a reflection you could code the water to reflect light a certain way now think if you want to create a scenario where it is raining light would be reflected everywhere
Yes, pretty rare because they're expensive, yet that goes the same for the zerg brood lords. Terrans do have a non massive flyer that attacks air and ground, of course you have to turn it from flight mode to assault mode but that still counts, especially when the zerg just have corruptors at the moment. As for bonus to bio, roaches spit and baneling bomb are both bonus against bio.
With each faction and the new units, strategies and counters being added in, it's not being overpowered. All the factions got a buff up simultaneously that gives them unique edges, It's Starcraft advancing the possiblity and powers forward for each faction in their own ways, not picking favourites.
I can see tempests being very dynamic and used in many different battle tactics. So when the protoss land army is overrun by Zerg, the tactical tempest at a safe 22 range can turn the tides of battle
I was suggesting keeping the Phoenix near the Tempests to try and keep the Vipers away from them. At 13:36 you can see Tempest fire support coming in, and it could have been targeting the exposed Vipers but was not. Every time the Vipers went for an abduct, they have to break away from the Zerg lines a little bit. Phoenix could have done some damage whenever they did that and at 13:43 when the Vipers were too far North of the Hydras. HTs would have had time to storm, or used feedback on Vipers.
dt,blink stalker, tempest, oracle, massrecall, warp prism(inbase production building) but you can also force a lot of stuff with like a 7 gate 2/2 timing after a..mothershipcore fe
Getting both the tempest (fleet beacon/stargate), as well as the templar (templar archives/twilight council/cybcore/gateway) is quite difficult... Plus the viper is probably going to be used primarily against colossus, which means you gotta get colossus as well. Unless a protoss is on 3 base+, it's gonna be difficult. Jus my 2c.
he was doing that from the start and on his heals the entire time he had the tempests coming out. When he switched to a Z/S/I composition he regained control of the map, thus giving him the game. And, btw, "OP" is another way of saying, "I can't critically think fast enough to overcome obstacles." I'm pretty sure the Zerg player could have kept the oracle at bay if he wasn't being overly aggressive and keeping a few unit in back. Hell, a couple spore crawlers could have at least deterred.
Or drop carrier build time by 15 secs so they become viable. Seriously though what is the consensus on this? Would it wreck balance or actually make air toss possible?
Not really. You might see all the units, but seeing how they interact in all matchups is important. For example, the Warhound is very important in PvT, but not really in ZvT. Matchups matter.
tempest. although its an easy target for fast anti air, its defo gunna get capped for its range, cause im thinking "how the heck does one defend against that when it can attack BOTH ground and air?". also i like the mothership core, but i reckon they should have had anti rush spells to make it more defensive early game and some will say there already is, but its this kind of thing that will beg the question, HoTs terran or protoss? which will be the better. p.s. whats with day 9 and gingerbread?
I like the fact that zerg is a bit OP in the new expansion, but protoss have a lot of non-army advanages, such as the oracle, the mothership core abilitys, and i think that makes the teams even! GJ Blizz! :)
I think we are on the same side....... you said "protoss harass involves no skill NOW" so I thought you meant, at this moment: not with HotS, just the warp prism and phoenixes, dt's etc. but I think you actually meant the oracle, meaning "now" after the HotS expansion am I right? if so, we both think the same thing and are on the same side, even though I disagree that terran has to click e and not do anything more than that
Wasn't the zerg the one race that was short by one unit let alone a massive air unit that can attack ground and air? Oh right, that must have been in the other dimension I was before I "slided" into this one.
Swarm hosts and Infestors are really really different, you can't use them in the same way at all. Just because both of them can make a temporary unit doesn't mean they're the same.
I have the game for 2 days now and I already love the protoss and I'm verry happy that they have some new air based units because they were pretty weak in the sky exept the void
the best way to win with zerg is attack early. protoss takes longer to build an army so protoss has to build an adequate defense pretty quickly. but zerg is not that good later in the match so they need to expand quickly and widely. therefore keeping the economy going and you will make an extremely fast unit production. although with terran they are kind of in the middle.
I like the idea however of the swarm hosts free locusts. Really gives the Zerg a good chance against other races since they don't have cliff movement-ignoring units.
i can`t believe how this game has develop , in the mid game the protoss was nearly on knees and then he turned game in his favor , omg this was epic battle

"Those vipers, so expensive at 200 GAS!"
Collosus would like to have a word with you..
Interesting to see the early versions of various units and buildings. SOO different from the final product..
"Incredible job on the Oracle"
Yes, truly incredible skills required..

Oh Day9. We love you so
Can't wait for it! Sounds awesome as I play Protoss! Getting ready to slow down my friends production and attack them from long distance! :D
Yes, to play the HOTS multiplayer, you can still play the wings of liberty multiplayer without any further purchase.
most def the example i like to use is consider water in game that shows a reflection you could code the water to reflect light a certain way now think if you want to create a scenario where it is raining light would be reflected everywhere
The oracle has a preoadain spell that can be cast on an enemy building so it provides vision for you, no observers required.
I wonder, can you see the hosts when they are burrowed to spawn loci/locusts?
check any sc2 tournament .. you may count the amount of bc's on 1 hand
if they'd counter everything you'd see them way more often

god regardless of how unbalances it is right now this still looks awesome
their voices make me feel relaxed.
they can be used to backup voids
so what you can do is lead with a void army and have the tempests behind them for extra damage
I'm just wondering if destroyed collapsible rock tower would it destroy the units under it
I can see tempests being very dynamic and used in many different battle tactics.
So when the protoss land army is overrun by Zerg, the tactical tempest at a safe 22 range can turn the tides of battle
Nix the range upgrade and give the Tempest innate splash?
I was suggesting keeping the Phoenix near the Tempests to try and keep the Vipers away from them. Infestors and Swarm Hosts are going to be a fun combo.
Como se llama el mapa? Which is the name of the map?
@8:13 I think that was the most adorable description I've heard of Zerg *ever*.
amazing comeback
dt,blink stalker, tempest, oracle, massrecall, warp prism(inbase production building) but you can also force a lot of stuff with like a 7 gate 2/2 timing after a..mothershipcore fe

Jus my 2c.
in a 2v2 what are you doing against a composition of tempests and swarm hosts holding a xel naga tower?
he was doing that from the start and on his heals the entire time he had the tempests coming out. When he switched to a Z/S/I composition he regained control of the map, thus giving him the game. And, btw, "OP" is another way of saying, "I can't critically think fast enough to overcome obstacles." In 2vs2 with friendly control, will the momma ship core be able to reenergize a terran CC ?
I don't even play Starcraft 2 but this is so interesting to watch.
What happens to units that are below the collapsible rock tower when it falls?
Or drop carrier build time by 15 secs so they become viable. Seriously though what is the consensus on this? Would it wreck balance or actually make air toss possible?
has there been any talk of the return of the Dark Archon? i miss mind control
Where are the carriers? They didn't show up in the stargate. D:
at 7:40 how do you a plan a route of where a units going to go like that? can you do that and then just do something else?
I stopped 0:50 seconds in, dunno if I should keep going because the toss didn't split his probes...
Not really. You might see all the units, but seeing how they interact in all matchups is important. For example, the Warhound is very important in PvT, but not really in ZvT. Matchups matter.
can you control locusts like broodlings?
Am I the only one going "OMG" because that was the craziest game I've seen... That last minute flip was insane!
How do you have burrow charge without burrow....
Yes because these two players were top level pros that have been playing hots for 1000s of matches.
They provide map vision and can generate creep nearby easier
Ooh I could see that happening. Something to hope for!
13:57 He said they accidently grabbed the Oracle which is wrong because its the only thing you could see thats not cloaked so yeah
why does nobody use that ranged cover spell with vipers on these demo videos? were they taken out? or severely nerfed?
tempest. although its an easy target for fast anti air, its defo gunna get capped for its range, cause im thinking "how the heck does one defend against that when it can attack BOTH ground and air?". also i like the mothership core, but i reckon they should have had anti rush spells to make it more defensive early game and some will say there already is, but its this kind of thing that will beg the question, HoTs terran or protoss? which will be the better. p.s. whats with day 9 and gingerbread?
@terran dominion Heart of the swarm is not out yet and it would take forver to get those and there upgrade
So excited about this!
wow this opens up a completely new matrix of options : blast away :) how long pls! i wanna have this addon!!
Wow, makes me want to start playing again.
They talked about doing the tempest in the sc2 release but people wanted to keep the carrier. I wanted to keep it too lol.
will you have to buy this expansion to play online??
Where did the carriers go? 6:47
Heres a question: Why ever make zerglings when we have locusts that spawn for free?
do i need starcraft 2 to be able to play heart of the swarm or is it gonna be a stand alone title?
I wonder if you could mothership core rush...
New at this so is the heart of swarm a expansion or a other game?
The most good thing for protoss in hots is the start game. U can take b2 without problem, if u have 1/2canons and the mithershipcop
FYI to all ...
You guys might want to check out the:
Iron Squid SC2 Heart of the Swarm, King of the Hill competition.
For the expense of the Tempest, I would say it needs either a firing speed boost, or damage boost
I like the fact that zerg is a bit OP in the new expansion, but protoss have a lot of non-army advanages, such as the oracle, the mothership core abilitys, and i think that makes the teams even! GJ Blizz! :)
nope, and nope, I looked again, and there were none used. I think you are getting confused with the Battle Hellions in mech mode
I've never played this game before, so I don't have the slightest clue what is going on, but god damn is this so fun to watch.
I wonder if it will work for Macs because the last patch destroyed all of them....
hey what is that mothership core on the nexus?
It had a different purpose in the beta.
so swarm host's locusts no longer explode?
You can buy it as a stand alone or as a upgrade
But as a standalone costs HOTS a little bit more
sry for my bad grammar english
how the hell can you deal with that Abduct ability?
most ladder maps with backdoors get removed or edited fairly quickly...
I can't believe the Protoss won. That was incredible.
Is there any Mod where u can play these? I mean with MothershipCore and stuff like that?
That was a really amazing game right there.
I think we are on the same side....... you said "protoss harass involves no skill NOW" so I thought you meant, at this moment: not with HotS, just the warp prism and phoenixes, dt's etc.
but I think you actually meant the oracle, meaning "now" after the HotS expansion

Day9 is known for his in-depth analysis, and I'm guessing Blizz chose him to cast this to give players an informative view on HotS.
Swarm hosts and Infestors are really really different, you can't use them in the same way at all. Just because both of them can make a temporary unit doesn't mean they're the same.
show the production tab plz!
Was für ein Comeback!
no carrier?
No TvP Battle Report?
D:
are there no carriers?
Where was the broaches?!
No I didn't mean that part of the arguement, I meant the "Zerg is already so underpowered" part.
when does this come out?
Why do aliens in other movies have green or blue blood?
I have the game for 2 days now and I already love the protoss and I'm verry happy that they have some new air based units because they were pretty weak in the sky exept the void
zerg already have neural parasite which controls an enemy's units - do they also need this weird abduct thing? I don't think so....
protoss was only able to be ahead because of the oracle?
Gotto say Protos look so much fun with this new expansion
The tempest is basically a flying lower damage no-micro reaver. I'd say it's pretty good in the right hands.
Because everything is shown?
Will there be a zerg or protoss campaign?
the best way to win with zerg is attack early. protoss takes longer to build an army so protoss has to build an adequate defense pretty quickly. but zerg is not that good later in the match so they need to expand quickly and widely. therefore keeping the economy going and you will make an extremely fast unit production. although with terran they are kind of in the middle.
Maybe get rid of broodlords if u got those burrowing guys with locusts
are these extreme settings? ive never seen crystals sooo shiny o.o
WHY IS THERE NO TvP?
same wit oracles op mineral block. Maybe half of that would be good. Also the widow mines are scury!
I like the idea however of the swarm hosts free locusts. Really gives the Zerg a good chance against other races since they don't have cliff movement-ignoring units.
