Best camera ( and best camera ) :
Megapixels: how much does it matter if the camera has 24 or 30 megapixels, because it doesn't automatically make the camera better if it has more resolution.
I don't know why photo cameras have video, and there's always something wrong with them :
      In focus, colors, coding ... ( -> boring ) .
They are not like film cameras, news cameras.
I didn't get anything out of this program.
And I don't know what you were trying to say ( what camera is the best 2023 ? ).
Although I have noticed for a long time that you are exceptional people who follow what is happening in the camera world.
I don't have the same enthusiasm myself, but sometimes I can still watch your program.
      Good luck and winter 👍☺👋👋👋

Image stabilization when shooting video on the Nikon Z9 and Z8, even with a long lens, is amazingly steady, maybe the best of the bunch. Also, you CAN currently transfer your images directly from a Nikon camera to your computer using Nikon’s Wireless Transmitter Utility that is a free download. I’ve used it and it works. It’s still not going to be anywhere as fast as transferring directly from a CFexpress B card using a fast reader as it will be limited to the speed of your local wireless network and the 5G that is built into the camera so it isn’t the way to go with a large number of RAW files but JPEG’s can be moved fairly quick.

i am like they never shot sports , because you dont really need 30,50,60fps raw etc... . Sport photographers send jpg-s , because everyone want to be the first that post the photo , no one have time really for a lot of editing . And why they have problem with electronic shutter , when you shot like at least 1/400 to 1/2000 in most of the sports ?

Olympus Pro Capture is amazing. Ya’ll don’t give them the credit they deserve. I use pro capture all of the time to capture birds in flight. It’s funny how it’s taken other camera manufacturers so long to compete with pro capture, live comp, starry sky AF etc… Regardless of the MFT format and light gathering issues, you cannot deny how innovative they have been. I hope they launch a full frame system with the same features. They will dominate!

MFT has potential that is not being developed, think about it, if you can do it in full frame then you can do it 4x faster in MFT. I use MFT in Lumix and Oly and where they shine is in durability/resistance to the elements; I have taken both out into hurricanes and it was I that got drenched to the core, not my camera's.

Traditionally--before you guys were born, news agencies like AP and UPI issued their photographers not bigger and better cameras for these events, but smaller and easier cameras to keep in their pockets to capture the unexpected candid moments in side events or parties or crowds. The little Olympus cameras come to mind in this regard. Pro journalism photographers all got the newest issue of this level camera, and as a retailer 30 some odd years ago, I sold a ton of these as a result. Everyone wanted the nifty professional pocket camera that reporters felt was good enough for magazines of the time like Life and Newsweek etc. So, given the new small, full frame cameras that have come out for influencers who will no doubt be at all the sporting events, what super compact full frame auto pocket cameras are going to surprise us and what would be their features and price--particularly given the marvelous retro Nikon Zf which I just bought for its amazing black and white features, focus and just all around cool vibe. Will something like that in a pocket Olympus style cool be arriving???

I just bought an immaculate Canon 1D Mkii (for $220). That was THE camera of the 2004 Athens Olympics. 220 dollars!!!
Yes, it's 8Mp and can't do high iso, but it's a beautiful tank of a camera. I virtually never use it, and maybe never will, but I just love owning it, knowing it was the best camera on the planet at one time.
I may buy an R1 in 2044 ($200??) but realistically I'll wait to see what the R5 Mkii offers. I think it may be all the camera I ever need in my lifetime.

Thanks guys for the video. As a can R5 user I have been really pleased with the camera and still bought it when everyone was ganging up on it after its launch. It still stands up today and in the real world the pictures count and this camera with RF glass is very impressive indeed. There is a but though, I'm not interested in the numbers now as they are pretty meaningless to all but a small percentage of actual buyers. What's important to me and many others I know for mu next purchase, is all the other stuff like reliability, durability, software updates to keep our investment current, internal storage, offloading images quicker, camera's being able to be online and transfer images in real time so when I get home my images are ready on my screen to edit or someone else can be doing it as the action happens. Improved dynamic range, user interface and of course AI technology which we all can't seem to get away from and is here whether we like it or not. These things are now much more important and I think the spec number war will still go on, but buyers will wake up and realised none of these things make much of a difference to the quality of our work anymore. The new R1 might give us a glimpse of some of these things, I can only dream! 🙂

So the info is at the bottom of your screen again and not on the left or right side.

Though personally, I still prefer a more photo-oriented approach, since there really are many topics of general interest that would improve the way we use our gear e.g. locations, composition, lighting. Unless these are mastered first, the gear won't be used to its full potential. And since few of us upgrade our systems every few months, the new gear videos are of dubious utility. For this reason, I tend to confine my views to vlogs that include actual example of the craft, even if in the context of new gear.

The best camera in the world is one that is modular to one's needs. Plain and simple.
I want a Z9 body, but with the sensor of the Zf for example since I don't need high MP and the recording media would the UHS-II standard (or CFExpress). Make it custom at the consumer's price point, might have to wait extra time to build it, but it'll be what the consumer wants.

From a Sony shooter. Both of your predictions of A9III before the A1 II was dead on. Sony gave a big surprise at 120 fps at 24MP but also a big surprise with the price tag. Tony's pre-capture prediction was also on the money. The A9 III seems to be an all-in camera for sports shooters. We're wildlife shooters primarily. I'm not sure what the A9 III has to offer wildlife shooters that would be consider an upgrade from the A1. The A1's 50 MP image allows for much better cropping. Combined with 30 fps, we're killing enough hard drive space as it is. Also, as of now, it doesn't appear that Sony has allowed any field testing with a 600 4.0, 400 2.8 or anything that would give wildlife shooters an idea of how the A 9 III performs under real-life conditions. What the A1 II might offer is baffling to many of us. I think the pre-capture feature is a given. Probably a similarly configured tilt screen, as well. 40 fps? 100 MP? As mentioned, we're killing enough hard drive space with the A1's current capabilities. When we bought our A1's, we said that this REALLY was the last camera we'd ever own. Until Sony comes up with a camera with the A1's capabilities that also sees in the dark, we think we'll stick to that pledge. 😊

I think either one of them will sport a global shutter soon thus getting rid of the mechanical shutter completely = less dynamic range but not a problem for sports shooters. Plus professional video cameras have huge sensors with global shutters already (and big dynamic range). And since all the other stuff seems to have already been developed, thus RnD is already paying off, a global shutter would be the way to go imho.

First off let me say this. All three of the big companies Canon Sony and Nikon are all very good. I will admit I am biased because I am a lifetime Canon shooter. I use my R3 for sports only and I pair it with the RF 1200mm and my EF 400mm f/2.8 along with my EF 70-200mm f/2.8 everything you've talked about sounds pretty good. The only last thing I will still purchase for my arsenal will be the RF 100-300mm F/2.8. If Canon were to make a new lens I wish it would be a (100-400mm F/2.8) that would be the GODZILLA of all sports lenses. And as far as the R1 goes I will purchase one. But of course I will wait for the reviews. And even though I shoot Sports on a regular basis throughout the summer and return to the studio to do other shooting during the winter months, if the R1 is more than what I truly need. I'll consider not buying it. Or at the very least wait to the price comes down. Because honestly the Canon R3 is quite capable of doing everything and more than I need right now. 24 megapixels does great for when my photos are converted to posters and if there's not enough pixel per square inch I just go into Photoshop and adjust that. Because remember sometimes you could be a great photographer with a subpar camera and still get a great shot. Or you could be a crappy photographer with the best equipment and get a crappy shot. And one last thing I'm holding on to my EF 70-200mm F/2.8 and the reason is is because I will prefer a 70-200 with internal zoom. Because my current EF glass works just fine. The only people who pixel peep are other photographers so it's hard for me to buy into the RF system as a whole right now.

Sony and their CFexpress type A... I think they will stick to it, not only because its smaller which goes well with their small camera bodies, they are also important for enthusiasts as it shares interface with SD cards. And with decent buffer even SD card is enought for most people (meaning more potential customers for them,)
Not everyone is willing or able to spend 2000$ (or more) on two memory cards. At least in my country its really just on the 80-160GB cards that type A is significantly more expensive (higher capacity is just around 10-15% more for type A card of same capacity from same manufacturer here, low capacity can be easily double the price) and if you buy those low capacity, you might almost run out of space on them sooner than you run out of buffer with SD V60 card.
By being able to use both CFExpress and SD in a same slot, unlike many other cameras, they can also have both slots supporting same cards even outside flagship (they dont do it, did on A7RV and hopefully this will become standard in a future). You loose advantage of super fast CFExpress B if you use second card as a backup and it happens to be SD card anyway.
And as for the speed, when PCI-e 4.0 (or 5.0 which is already present in computers, including PCI-e 5.0 SSDs) at last comes to mirrorless world (btw that would be an improvement I would love to see in A9 III or A1 II) you wont have any problems or limitations with speed on type A either

No one prints things larger than 8x10 anymore. It is all on their social media. Sports can all be done with the R6. Agree and disagree.
It depends what you want to achieve. For portrait or inside a studio, I totally agree with your comment. An old DSLR will do the job perfectly. But I went for a safari recently and used the R5 which I compared with my 5D Mark IV, just the autofocus is a game changer for fast moving subjects. So once again, it depends what you want to achieve. Of course you can still use the R6 which is cheaper but the higher resolution on new models makes it easier to crop. Overall agree with your comments, a lot of new camera bring new things that we don’t always need (like shooting 8K video when you are a still photographer or just make 4k video is enough). I do believe that some models can make a big difference though (personally I’m waiting for the R5 Mark II to see how it is).

Releasing a Z1 makes no sense. A Z9 Mark II makes more sense and sort of goes along with what the Z6/Z7 at least have been doing. A "Z1" would indicate a rather limited camera, something of "lessor" specs than even the Z5..... Or if Nikon is to release it and call it the "Z One" (not use the numeral one, but the world "One"). However z9 mark II sort of fits what you are suggesting the next high-end camera from Nikon might be. But I'm also thinking the other way, like the Z6 III and Z7 III (perhaps those will come first, and then the "Z1" or Z9 Mark II will be the end of next year... But this all being said , I won't bother myself. I just picked up the z8 a few months ago and that's more than enough camera for me. I wouldn't really benefit any from a z9 (or a Z1) or any other high-end pro body since I personally don't shoot much paid work (and this is more or less a hobby, the only paid jobs I do are odd headshot and group shot jobs here and there but those basically just pay for the hobby). I'd rather take the extra money and go on a vacation to be honest, or invest in lenses if I need any.

Ehh... Both Sony and Canon have bodies with lower numbers that are more capable than cameras with higher numbers, and Sony even has the A9 which is more capable than the A7 series but less capable than the A1.

    • @HR-wd6cw
      @HR-wd6cw 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@sasca854 Yes true, but in the case of Canon, they designed their numbering scheme to be that way. And the A1 is in a separate class (Sony treated the A1 as a new breed of camera and the others the A9 and A7 are not of the same "breed" as the A1 basically). Nikon's numbering works the other way of Canon's (larger numbers = more power cameras, whereas Canon is lower numbers = more power cameras). In reality I think that everything in the Nikon line-up should have been shifted down two numbers (so a Z5 would be a Z3, a Z6 is a Z4, etc) to leave room a true Z9 or have a Z8 and Z9 which woulid have been true pro-bodies (the current z8 would thus have been a Z7). Because on the low-end I don't know what Nikon would have done wit ha Z1 - Z4 to be honest... mabe an EVFless version of the Z30 but FF, and maybe a range finder style FF body like the Fuji X-E series... but that's two of the four slots that would be filled. However it does make sense that for Sony an A9 III would be coming, as the A1 is more of a long-term camera (per Sony I believe). Anyways they're just names. I'm more interested in the specs....

In the studio I mostly shoot at 1/160th and 1/200th of a second with flash and it works perfectly fine. International news-wire services (such as the Associated Press, Reuters, Agence France Presse, etc) are still in, but that's about it. If you're a contributing shooter for a picture library agency, no go... and freelance sports shooting generally doesn't pay much unless you can achieve better-than-normal editorial rates for the use of your images. Traditional shoot/sell methods aren't working the way they used to for independent (freelance) photographers, although this has been the case for a number of years. "The freelancer will die", as a colleague has been known to say. The same for freelance writing.

It's fair enough if YOU know why, I just feel like you left out the reason for it. The R&D involved with re-implementing a mechanical shutter into a system that's now non-mechanical shutter is gonna ruin the business case.

Using flash you typically want to lesson or eliminate the effect of dailight on your exposure. If you can't use a shutterspeed quicker than 1/60, you would have to use a crazy high f-stop or a dark grad filter.

What I do know is that the current camera workflow sucks in comparison with phone workflow. The apps for a camera are so clumsy and frustrating to use that I don't even bother to try anymore. Getting a single picture from my camera to my phone or the cloud should be as easy as a press of a button. Photographer's expectations evolve and push the envelope of what can be done; the manufacturers that fulfil those expectations will survive.

Lol man...as a cinematographer/videographer who dabbles in most types of still photography, my expectations are always fairly ridiculous.
I want a mirrorless body but tons of buttons, big bright screen, global shutter, 12K RAW video (even if only downsampled 4K ProRes 4:4:4:4 internally), 15+ stops of usable video dynamic range, and 40+mp stills. Full frame would be nice, ofc, but for decent stabilization and frame rates over 25p, I'm ok with a 1.6x crop in 6K. 120 fps is more than enough. 30fps still bursts is fine, if 5/6 are in focus, and there's a prerelease option 😁
Lol. OH! And, reliable human-eye-tracking autofocus, obvi. So basically an upgraded FX9 with no loss to image quality in a cutting edge mirrorless body lol.
I'm only half-joking, here, tbh. The tech is getting there...
I currently use the XH2s as my mirrorless cine/vid/stills cam, and I rent the FX9 a lot, and the combo is making it tough for me to get excited for new mirrorless releases.
