Diagnosing Random Cylinder Misfire

- When multiple cylinders are misfiring check to see if what do they have in common. Look at scanner data and identifying which cylinders are misfiring then focus on them to try to pinpoint the root of the misfire.

nice! one thing i like add to my process is to look at trims before and after the repair to verify i dont have a lean condition...a lean cylinder is a hard cylinder to ignite through the plug. i know crossfire is common on that cap design but i always ask...why did it crossfire? is this the root cause or a symptom. a lean condition can cause spark to find an easier path to ground due to higher resistance in that cylinder

After a rat chewed on my coil wire which was shorting on a metal tube ( ground ) when I go to live data it only gives info on 4 cylinders. It is a 6 cylinder. In the past my scanner gave info on all 6 cylinders. A standard coil puts out 20k - 30k positive voltage. With that much voltage going to ground I think it has caused a problem inside the ECM. What do you think? I don't see any other damage to my wiring.

How do you find the individual cylinders. All I can find on my Autel 808 is just misfires for the whole engine

There are great scanners out in the market. Not every scanner will do everything, I would suggest an Autel scanner that has an oscilloscopeintegrated, it's not too expensive and has a lot of features. There are different model numbers available with similar features and some within more.

Thanks for the video. Are there any affordable scanners that show live data on cylinder misfires? I have a 2010 Honda Pilot touring, and the check engine light is blinking. I was considering checking the spark plugs and coils once I read the data if it is showing misfires. Thanks

Misfire data depend on the scan tools and on the designs of engine ecm. Some ECM wont give misfire data.

What Alltel model scanner are you using
906 model
I had connected think car mini in my Mazda and I have seen some misfire in random cylinders and all 4 cylinders got 7-8(on each cylinder) random misfire per 30-40 minutes trip. But there's no trouble codes pooed up. Should be worried about it? Thank you in advance 😌

Do you have to pay every year to used these OBD ? If you dont pay every year or monthly Does it still works ? Does it Scan for Fuel Pressure Does it Scan for
Compression testing Like Sparks ? So if you dont update for example does that still works ?
This scanner is the Autel 906 Maxys Pro. Yes, it can do a variety of bidirectional controls. If it's not updated, it will still work.

Do you know of a scanner that I can purchase that will give me access to LIVE misfires on a 2004 ford mustang?
I bought a cheap $100 scanner that gives me mode 6 but problem is it doesn't track it live and when it shows a misfire in a cylinder I have no idea when that misfire was recorded.
I am chasing a very intermittent idle only shake that I believe to potentially be a misfire and I want to rule that out by getting live data. If when the shake happens and I can see that there are no live misfires then I can pursue other potential causes like engine mounts/harmonic balancer etc.

When the live data shows all sparks plugs misfiring what I should look for ?
You are looking for the number of misfire counts, it should be zero. If it's misfiring, it will display the number of times that cylinder(s) are misfiring.
@@MRDIAGNOSTECH the counts are zero when the car is off but when I turn it on they are all has counts even the history show all has counts .
@@EARTHKEENING The history shows the amount of times it has misfire, when the engine is off, the counts are zero because the engine is not running, but once it's running and you see numbers besides zero it means that the engine is misfiring.

bien, 1 Mi primer pregunta es: Que significa FUEL TRIM CELL, yo sé que ==FUEL TRIM== es referente a los ajustes del combustible a corto y largo plazo, pero que significa FUEL TRIM CELL, se refiere a qué, es una pieza o componente del automovil.
2 Mi segunda pregunta es referente también a los ajustes del combustible.
El scanner muestra command air-fuel equivalence ratio (1 value número rojo) y 1 unidad, esto es igual a 1:1
