- My truck never seems to throw a code or light when it misfires, so using Torque and a Bluetooth scanner we can dig a little deeper and find out which cylinder is having the issue.

Thanks for watching! Another thing you may want to consider is purchasing an OBDII to USB BMW diagnostic cable from ebay. With this, you can download INPA and NCSExpert and pretty much run full diagnostics on the car, as well as change different parameters. The cable I bought was around $20, but I think there are a few different cables for different years. I was able to turn off the airbag light and code in a Bluetooth Aux input on an E60.

Excellent information. I have the Torque reader and Bluetooth...works very well. I'm having misfire on my 1997 Ford F-150..NO Code reading/check engine light. Now I know how to check this...thanks

Hi, many thanks for the vid. I tried this on a Honda civic 1.4L SE but I'm getting the message "your ecu doesn't seem to support mode $06". I see others online with the same problem while using the Elm scanner. . Does anybody know a fix for this with the Elm scanner or is there another scanner or method available that can get mode 6 info from the civic ecu? Many thanks
Hi, Yesterday apply this method , been driving about 20 minutes , no hard acceleration, just light drive, and the app show the next information :

Today I did the same procedure, but only for about 5 minutes and it shows this :

So , i don't know why yesterday, with 20 minutes of driving, shows 0 counts on cylinder 8, and now with 5 minutes of driving 1 count.And 3 misfires hits a signal of bad coil?
My vehicle is a F-150 2011 Limited,6.2 have issues little shaking/vibration, no engine light on.
Spark plugs motorcraft new, fuel injectors cleaned .
What do you recommend? Thank very much.
If the misfire is vacuum related is there anyway to figure that out with software?

I had used think tool mini and saw some miss fires in random cylinders. Like 5-6 miss fires in c#1 3-4 in c#4 1 misfire c#2 1 miss fire in c#3 in a 30-40 minutes trip. But there's no stored fault codes and vehicle driver just fine. It's my 2016 Mazda CX-5 2.5L skyactive. Should be worried about it?? It drives just nice and I get decent gas mileage too. Hey, I know this is a little old but thanks.. I have a 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee that is misfiring , but no codes. On Torque Pro,I added Pre-defined set from within app . Only adds 3 temp options. I don't see misfire pids.
I was hoping to see the result with the misfires count increasing. Because now we still don't know if it works. If it did, the misfire count should already be greater than zero in the video, right?

Quick question about custom PID's, is there a resource to find them online? Torque has the base ones which is great, however I'd like to find the custom ones as you mentioned. I have a gen 4 Taurus, and can't find anything yet. Thanks for the video!

As i understand adding more PID won't hurt. In my full version of Torque for GM (i have Chevy Traverse) there are additional pid listed as "Injection Pulse" and "Misfire Cylinder 1-12". So i just add all of those. Sounds right?

? My torque pro scanned to 100 percent like three times and it only comes up with like 16 green bars I can only scroll down like 4 clicks? I don’t have misfire section on my 2004 4runner does anyone else have it?
Were do you get your PIDs ?
There are some default ones for various manufacturers built into Torque, but I found some others on one of the f150 forums, not totally sure which one! Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the comment; there might not be any specific PIDs for that car, I have run into a similar issue with some BMW cars, Torque isn't able to read the specifics because of the car's protocol it uses.
How accurate are the elm code reader ?

The truck I'm working on doesn't throw a code even if you unplug an injector wire so the app isn't reading misfires from what I can tell. Everything else seems to work fine
the information for this online seems lacking for some reason. i have have this for close to 10 years at this point and i am just now ready to play detective to see how to track down a misfire on my trailblazer

How do you know how to setup a PID for misfires? Need it for a Nissan Maxima 1999. Im not seeing PID's listed in the torque forums.

Thanks for watching! I think there's a Nissan plugin for Torque called "Advanced LT for Nissan", and i think it'll add them in. I haven't tried the plugin myself, but hopefully it will be a step towards getting your issue fixed!

Will it work for Diesel cars?
It works on my 1999 diesel motorhome..7.3L
Just did this, found the cause of my studder, in overdrive, going up hill steady. Coil #1 derfed it. Once it got warm, it gave up it's ghost. This apparently caused 3 and 7 to skip a beat once each.
First ride, 15 misfires, then first hill jumped to 27. Now, all 0's.

Thanks, I am glad the video could be of some help! Off the top of my head, I can't remember if it does or not. If I remember correctly, the lite version is feature-limited and is mainly used to make sure your adapter works with the app, and the paid version "unlocks" more features and functionalities.

When i run the test results, it doesnt show much. Just o2 sensor stuff. I cant see any cylinder misfire info

Make sure your latest PIDS are selected for your make and model.

overdrive means final gear. High gears aren't used under high loads unless you are going like 120 miles an hour. Just noticed you didn't understand what overdrive means.
