    Thank you Grete . I was born in Vienna and emigrated 1969 . Whenever I visited my hometown the use of trains , buses and subways became increasingly confusing to me. I solved that by renting a car . Since the last couple of years that proved to be no solution either , because parking has become a nightmare. Next time I will get the app you mention and try my luck .

      Navigating Vienna by car and parking is indeed very challenging! I am sure, you will master the public transport :)

  • @RobertSochan

    It can be added that Wiener Linien tickets are also valid on the S-Bahn (Schnellbahn) and the local railway to Baden (Wiener Lokalbahn/Badner Bahn), on their routes within Vienna. S-Bahn trains run to many destinations in eastern Austria (including Vienna Airport in Schwechat), and there are many stations within Vienna.
    Vienna has a very good public transport system: almost everywhere can be reached easily and quickly, generally on time, tidily and safely. The authorities in Vienna had enough sense not to dismantle the tram network, as happened in many metropolises in the second half of the 20th century.

      Sorry, its means the ticket we bought from wiener linien apps also valid from airport to vienna city by S7? TQ in advance

    • @RobertSochan
      @RobertSochan 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@waitulfifika3415Yes, this ticket is valid on S7, but only within Vienna , i.e. from the station Wien Kaiserebersdorf, for the leg from the airport to the station Wien Kaiserebersdorf you need to buy a separate ticket of ÖBB (Austrian Railways), at a price of less than €2 (the price of separate ÖBB ticket from the airport to the centre, for example to the station Wien Mitte, is more than €4).
      At Vienna Airport there is the ÖBB desk, where you can buy both ÖBB and Wiener Linien tickets.

    Hello😊I need to get from Haupthbahnhof to Rathausplatz,I read that I can get there by tram 1. Where will the tram be? Will it be close to the train station? Should I buy the “Single trip -2.40€”ticket in the app and then scan the code on the tram?Also, how will I know that I have arrived at my destination? When I buy a “single trap” ticket, you have to write a time when you will travel, because it only says that I have 80 minutes to use it. Sorry for the language mistakes, I am Hungarian. Hi, I have a question on ticket validation. I bougth my ticket from Wien HBF to Ceske Budejovice, and I got it in two parts: 1. Wien Hbf - Wien Franz Josefs - I guess I can travel by Tram 2. Wien Franz - Josefs - Ceske Velenice (change) - Ceske Budejovice. OK I printed them out. It is two pages: one for local transport, one for train trip. Both of them are A4 size. How can I validate the A4 paper ticket on tram? Do I need it to validate at all? Or I just travel from Hbf to Franz Josefs on the tram? Thank you?

    Hi Grete, thanks for this awesome video. I would like to ask if there is such a thing like Austrian Pass? Wherein I can purchase a ticket to travel the different regions in Austria? I'm planning to stay in Vienna but would love to visit other places like Salzburg ,Graz and Hallstatt.

      With the "Klimaticket" ("Climate Ticket") you can use all of the public transport in Austria and it is valid for one year. But since it is quite expensive (1095 EUR) it is probably not the right choice for a weekend. I think the cheapest choice would be to try to book your train or bus tickets well in advance. Then you will be able to get the cheapest deals. And then buy passes for the local public transport. Also you could look into the "Vorteilscard" of the Austrian Train Services (ÖBB). With this card you will get 50% off the price of a regular train ticket. If you buy the "Vorteilscard" online at shop.oebbtickets.at you will get the "Vorteilscard" cheaper (66 EUR instead of 99EUR). Hope this helps and have a good time in Austria!

      If you travel to the airport you have to buy a separate ticket. However, if you go by ÖBB train, you can select, that you already have ticket for Vienna and the train ticket will get cheaper. Also to give you a heads up: Double check on the ticket automate, what connection you are purchasing your ticket for. At the Wiener Linen automates, they only offer tickets for the Vienna Airport Busses, not for the trains!

      In Vienna, there's no need to show your ticket before boarding the bus, tram, or subway. However, it's essential to keep your ticket with you and not discard it until your ride is complete or until you've exited the subway station. This is because ticket inspectors conduct random inspections on public transport.

    Hi Grete. Sorry if this is a silly question, but what is a single fare ticket for? Does it mean I can only use 1 subway/bus/tram ride & that is it? If I have to take a bus & tram to my destination, should I buy only 1 single fare ticket or 2 single fare tickets? Thank you!

    • @gretetheaustrianguide
      @gretetheaustrianguide  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a great question, since it is a little bit different all over the world :) In Vienna a single fare means:
      * The ticket is valid for one trip in one direction.
      * The means of transport (subway, tram, bus) can be changed as often as desired.
      * The trip may not be interrupted and may last a maximum of 80 minutes.
      So if you need to change for example from the subway to to bus, to get to your destination, you only need one ticket.

      I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but generally speaking: Public transport in Vienna (U-Bahn, Tram, Bus) is operated by Wiener Linien. You'll need a separate ticket to use these services. If you're traveling beyond Vienna's city limits (e.g., coming from another city or the airport), you'll need to purchase an additional ticket for that as well.

I don’t think I can use this ticket from the airport as the airport is outside the core zone. Is that right? Hello, I was looking into the 24h public transport ticket on the Wein Mobil app and it's not clear at all if this ticket includes the OBB local trains you mentioned in your other video about the transfer between airport and city. I am looking at the S7 train which should be included, yet on the app it mentions that CAT it's exluded (makes sense) and also ''airport rapid transit'', what does that mean? • @gretetheaustrianguide

      Within Vienna you can use the ÖBB trains with your Wiener Linien ticket. Butt if you go outside of Vienna you need to buy an extra ticket. If you take one of the ÖBB trains (S7 or railjet), you only have add a ticket from the Vienna city boarder to the airport. You can select that at the ÖBB automats. CAT is a private owned company, so the Wiener LInien ticket does not include that and you have to pay extra. Within the Wien Mobil App you can also buy tickets for the "Vienna Airport LInes" which are busses. They are also not included in the Wiener Linien Ticket.

You'll have to provide an ID and maybe fill out some Form. This can also be done in Supermarkets, which can be very stressful when you have 10 People behind you waiting in line. The tickets for the National Railway service ÖBB indeed work a bit differently: If you purchase your ticket for a specific connection, there is no need to validate it. Whereas with Wiener Linien (the company that operates public transport in Vienna), you can purchase a ticket to use on another date. That's why you have to validate it to indicate when you started your journey. Glad to hear, that your journey still worked!
