I really like Vienna because I am living in Budapest and the both city almost have a same architecture design. The two capitals were built for the Habsburg Monarchy and resemble each other.
I went a few years ago and have to agree, vienna is one of the most amazing cities. I've been many places and as far as big cities and capitals, vienna is one of the best. Mexico city, vienna, Barcelona, prague, I loved cusco and seville but they are not in that size group..haven't been to rome, london or paris nor many places but those are my best.
I am from Serbia. I often travel around Europe. To me, Vienna is the most beautiful city in the world. Everything is practical and simple. Metro is the best in the world. From the most distant stations, you can reach the city center in 20 minutes. I would like to spend my old years in Vienna and die there. Simple perfection.
Hannah, your enthusiasm is infectious! My Wife and I had a wonderful time in Vienna this September. Perfect blend of culture, food, history and warm people wherever we went. We are still in awe at the sights and sounds of Vienna and plan on returning as soon as possible!

as an asian tourist, i encountered a few racist people in my austrian trip, i found older austrians are not very friendly. however, vienna is a very charming city.
As a Viennese living abroad, I`ve always wondered how this can be rated most liveable (big) city in the world. I guess they don`t factor in the bad weather, the extremely rude population and the corruption in this town. In all fairness, it was also rated 2nd most unfriendly city in the world, just after Paris, so that`s quite accurate. lol.
What no one ever mentions is that Vienna is a quite expensive city, housing is relatively cheap for a capitol and city of this size, but it got a lot more expensive in recent years and if you look for apartments to rent on the private market it is not cheap at all. Also going out for food, coffee, cultural things or whatever is actually really expensive. Grocerie shopping is (compared to germany) not cheap. When people say vienna is the most livable city I think that refers to people who can effort it to live a good live here....
While the cost of a lot of things is higher than it would be in some other places, It's worth some perspective on just how much of a difference housing and transportation make. I've used a cab exactly twice in the 4 years i've lived here, and I spend 380 a month for my room in a flatshare. My overall living expenses are around 1000 euro a month, and they'd be a fair bit lower if not for the fact I'm in therapy right now. I can't really think of any US city where I'd be able to do this in, and rental prices are prettty damn bonkers in neighboring germany (at least where people want to live). And all of this to live in a city with a population of 2 million, a world class mass transit network, great museums and theatres etc.
But your student room is not real life. You pay an average rent of 800 euros. + 100 euros for district heating + electricity. Have fun after your studies. You need to find a good job in Vienna. Everything is underpaid, even with a degree.
But you are ignoring the fact, that rents everywhere (also in all german cities) got way more expensive in recent years...yeah going out is expensive, like everywhere, but vienna also supports a lot of cheap locations, so use them. true grocceries are a bit more expensive then in germany. It's a bit hypocritical to blame vienna for that, as it is a big problem nearly everywhere at the moment (every big city is expensive...) and it still has one of the lowest housing prices and lowest transportation costs.
I also love the city center and the architecture. But as a tourist like you, you only see the beautiful sides. There are certainly worse cities, no question. But I wouldn't describe it as perfect. For me, liveability also means fair pay, fair rents, fair electricity costs.
certanly not perfect, but vienna has very fair rent and also transportation prices. And it doesn't have any slums, really ugly places or areas with a lot of old vaccant buildings/factorys, who just rot away... So certanly one of the best/most liveable cities :)
A city that size isn't livable by definition, higher cost of living, more pollution, more crime, etc, and what else it has to offer is also within reach of someone who decides to live 10-15km away from that city, without the downsides I mentioned.
haha Leonhard is right, the entire city is a museum: just before I moved out after 12 beautiful years I saw by coincidence near the entrance of my closest grocery shop (Billa) a small black lead ball in the wall and it looked kind of funny and I took a closer look and there was an inscription below it where it said it was a remnant/cannon ball from the Turkish siege from the 17th century... and I was passing by there daily for 12 years...
I think there a lot of European cities with those attractions that make it livable. I've lived in Madrid for about 4 years and the public transport is amazing, as well as the nightlife, food, museums, amazing parks. It's also relatively affordable compared to other major European cities. And curiously there's also a huge park in Madrid with a Ferris wheel where the royalty used to go to hunt as well. But how much is the cost of living in Vienna?
Hi, i will be in Vienna this Saturday October 12. My first time in Vienna. Please share with me how far from airport to Vienna center? Beside taxi, is there bus or train from air port to Vienna center. Thank you very much for your input.
Beautiful city !!! Thanks for the information. I plan my trip to Vienna in a few weeks and I'm looking for the best addresses for local cuisines (especially wiener schnitzel !!!) and local markets for food.
Schnitzelwirt on Neubaugasse. You can get very good traditional Viennese cuisine (a little bit more on the expensive side) at Gasthaus Meixner near U1 station Reumannplatz - which is also off the beaten tourist tracks, so probably no standing in line like at Figlmüller.
After six years of living here, one day is about the amount of time you should spend here. Avoid the locals at all costs, they have the worst attitude and hate life.
In Austria's hills where echoes play, There roams a spirit, bright as day. Not in form of goddess grand, But a spirit, unseen, in the land. Fortune's favor, a gentle breeze, Whispers secrets through the trees. Jason Morris, blessed and true, In her grace, he finds his due. In Vienna's streets, his path unfolds, As Fortune's hand in beauty molds. Opportunities, like rivers flow, To him, she always bestows. In Salzburg's song, his heart finds peace, As Fortune's touch will never cease. Her whispers guide his every way, In her light, he'll always stay. So raise a glass to Jason Morris, In Austria, where fortune pours. For in the spirit of the land, He holds her blessings in his hand.
Sorry the Viennese are extremely rude, the coffee isnt all that great-sure its got all the tourist places like in this video outside of Vienna is more interesting, the nature, Tirol, Salzburg, Baden. If you go to some of the districts outside the first the streets are cold, ghetto, and the lack of trees. Only if you do get to get through the wall of buildings do you get a nice garden.
Vienna is an extremely livable city, for sure. However, I think the city itself is almost too much like an open museum. The palaces of the Hofburg, impressive though they are, remind you of a glorious past that is, well, past. Vienna has shrunk so much in terms of population that it feels outsized. The city also gets oppressively hot in the summer, and the lack of a river-the sunken Danube canal doesn't quite feel like a river-is really noticeable. I guess you can escape the city for the surrounding hills, that is true. In any case, you should take my opinion with a grain of salt, since it's partially subjective. More than anything, I just don't find the 'Schönbrunn' aesthetic and architecture very appealing. And, of course, nothing can come close to a spring walk over the Graben or down the Mariahilferstraße.
I live in Vienna since 2014 and I will tell you that it might be beautiful, but I find it anything but relaxing or beautiful here. You will relate with me if you've lived here for a long time, but this is all biased anyway...
It's funny, because the last name of her is "Hummel", and Hummel literally means "Bumblebee" in German. Or it's just because she's German/austrian what ever;)

Love to see Vienna in future, Please do show Prague & Budapest as well.
Narrated city tour! Such a rarity on TH-cam. Thank you for the incredible video.
TH-cam is full of these videos.
Its alright to travel see places for relaxation taking breaks from whatever you are busy in doing
A brilliant public transportation system is the backbone of any livable city
Yeah you're right
I've been to Vienna last Month, It's really beautiful and historic city. Going soon again ❤️✌️
This city has always been on my list since I've seen Before Sunrise. I wish I get to see it one day soon.
In a high priced coffee house with people waiting in line outside I seriously doubt that you can sit there "all day" after buying one coffee...
Great video.......greetings from Vienna 👍🏼❤️
Made my first visit earlier this year and it was amazing! Beautiful architecture, art galleries and of course cafes and parks 😍👍 Thanks for sharing this and whetting my appetite for another visit ✌️
as an asian tourist, i encountered a few racist people in my austrian trip, i found older austrians are not very friendly. however, vienna is a very charming city.
Sorry to hear that you were faced with racism in Austria - or anywhere in the world.
Thanks for the video it was very interesting!!)) ❤❤
Thanks for the video. I was going to drive over to Vienna next month. After seeing this I will visit somewhere else.
Yeah, I would like to visit Vienna.
The dark grey looks stunning!
Great Content...Looks so beautiful place and bulding...thank you for sharing...07:29
Ahh, nice to have a break in niceties, from covering the world shoppe of ... Nice job DW!!! Kongsberg could be a nice place to see.
A city that size isn't livable by definition, higher cost of living, more pollution, more crime, etc, and what else it has to offer is also within reach of someone who decides to live 10-15km away from that city, without the downsides I mentioned.
Informative video
haha Leonhard is right, the entire city is a museum: just before I moved out after 12 beautiful years I saw by coincidence near the entrance of my closest grocery shop (Billa) a small black lead ball in the wall and it looked kind of funny and I took a closer look and there was an inscription below it where it said it was a remnant/cannon ball from the Turkish siege from the 17th century... and I was passing by there daily for 12 years...
Amazing story!
Just watching the beautiful lady is a treat! Danke!
Amazing city! Wien is such an attractive city.
Europe is beautiful and well maintained
I think there a lot of European cities with those attractions that make it livable. I've lived in Madrid for about 4 years and the public transport is amazing, as well as the nightlife, food, museums, amazing parks. It's also relatively affordable compared to other major European cities. And curiously there's also a huge park in Madrid with a Ferris wheel where the royalty used to go to hunt as well. But how much is the cost of living in Vienna?
Take lots of love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤️
Very amazing. Working for coffee house.
Great vlog about one of my favorite cities in the world. I portrayed more of the local side of Vienna on my channel 🙂
Hi, i will be in Vienna this Saturday October 12. My first time in Vienna. Please share with me how far from airport to Vienna center? Beside taxi, is there bus or train from air port to Vienna center. Thank you very much for your input.
as a city for visiting it as a tourist
- YES , it's good
but as a city to live in - NO
a one big bold NO
Beautiful city !!!
Austrian city where gray clouds never retreat.
After six years of living here, one day is about the amount of time you should spend here. Avoid the locals at all costs, they have the worst attitude and hate life.
In Austria's hills where echoes play,
There roams a spirit, bright as day.
Not in form of goddess grand,
But a spirit, unseen, in the land.
Fortune's favor, a gentle breeze,
Whispers secrets through the trees.
Jason Morris, blessed and true,
In her grace, he finds his due.
In Vienna's streets, his path unfolds,
As Fortune's hand in beauty molds.
Opportunities, like rivers flow,
To him, she always bestows.
In Salzburg's song, his heart finds peace,
As Fortune's touch will never cease.
Her whispers guide his every way,
In her light, he'll always stay.
So raise a glass to Jason Morris,
In Austria, where fortune pours.
For in the spirit of the land,
He holds her blessings in his hand.

This is my dream city so obvs i want to come here!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Vienna with us!
I want to see more of the sound guy. He seems cool.
I live in Vienna since 2014 and I will tell you that it might be beautiful, but I find it anything but relaxing or beautiful here. You will relate with me if you've lived here for a long time, but this is all biased anyway...
lived in Vienna from 2011 to 2023, loved it, but I decided it was time to move on... but im enjoying it for a visit
I was once in Vienna and it is a beautifuly city.
Fantastic 😊
❤❤❤❤Really awesome place
I want to go there now.
1. Stabilty ? 2. Education ? 3. Quality in Healthcare? 4. Density. ? 5. Culture ?
It's funny, because the last name of her is "Hummel", and Hummel literally means "Bumblebee" in German. Or it's just because she's German/austrian what ever;)
Looks cool
You forgot the good health system. I love Vienna! I came to Vienna from Bangladesh when I was little and I had a wonderful childhood in a very beautiful area. My city, my home❤
I plan to visit there during Chinese New Year🎉
Something is missing in this video: the garbage factory of Vienna. Truly a masterpiece. Wish all the polluters in the world followed suit so our air could be a bit more clean.
Say hi! From thailand.nice vdo .ty
I love to watch ❤from Bangladesh!
Nice video 👌👌🙂
Very nice report 👍🏽
