Oh, I was really waiting for this one! Another great and informative video... and of course, as someone who had the chance to accidentally observe the filming process from across the street I can most definitely vouch for the quality! 😂
Thank you very much. Very helpful and useful. One Quick doubt: these Vienna passes don't include public transportation in the City and I must buy tickets for tram, buses and metro, right? I have also seen your video about public transportation. Daniel Gretel
Hi! There’s no general answer to that question, as it depends on the specific sights. Many major attractions are open during the holidays but often with limited opening hours. I recommend checking the official websites of the sights you plan to visit-holiday schedules are usually published there. Enjoy your time in Vienna!
Wow i really appreciate your video thank you for your work ! I have two questions : Is it a good option to buy the Vienna City Card and the Vienna Pass to have a free access to the public transport and some attractions ? And i have one child who will be aged of 18yo and two days, do he need to have adult’s one ticket or the child one ? Thank you for your help !
I don't think, it makes sense to buy both the Vienna Pass and the Vienna City Card. If you buy the Vienna Pass, I would simply ad a regular ticket for the public transport. Please check my video to learn more about the ticket option for Vienna's public transport: th-cam.com/video/VsbXWhkkJqc/w-d-xo.html
Happy to hear you enjoy my videos! Not sure which ticket counter you refer to, but if the sight is open on a Sunday the ticket counter will be open as well. Also the Vienna Pass Service Center is open every day.
Thank you so much. About the Schonbrunn ticket, so I can get a discount thanks to the Vienna Pass, but I do need to arrive at the palace and buy the ticket (or pick it up if I bought online) itself? Is this option valid for all types of tickets, such as Grand Tour, Sisi ticket, Classic pass? Also, is the Sisi ticket the "best" option?
At Schönbrunn, the Vienna Pass includes entry to the "State Apartments," which is a highlight tour. If you wish to see the "Grand Tour" with all the rooms of the palace, you'll need to purchase a regular ticket. You can do this either on-site at the ticket counter or through their website (I recommend the latter, as it allows you to select your time slot in advance).
There are several regulations regarding drone use in Vienna. From what I've read, drones weighing less than 250g and flying at or below 30 meters have fewer restrictions. However, please check the specific regulations for your drone and intended flight area with Austro Control. They have a dedicated page for drones in English www.dronespace.at/en
Hi Grete! I've been watching a lot of your videos and they are very informative and helpful. I do have a question about timed tickets--does the Vienna Pass work for places that require timed tickets? If not, does that mean we need to purchase separate tickets?
For certain attractions, timed tickets are required prior to your visit. At Schönbrunn and the Hofburg (Sisi Museum), tickets must be picked up at the Group Service Center / ticket counter (please refer to 04:59). For other sights such as the UNO City or the Opera, advance booking via their respective websites is necessary. Detailed instructions on the booking process can be found on the Vienna Pass Website under the 'Sights' section. Visit the Vienna Pass Website here: bit.ly/grete-vienna-pass-EN
Hi, I have only 1 day in Vienna and planning to buy the 24 hours transport ticket. Based on one of your recommendations, I understand that this pass allowed me to hop on n off on all public transport. I planned to take a tram to start my city tour, please advise which tram number gives the best route to see Vienna for 1st time tourist 😅 and where should I hop on. Thank you
I bought it for 2 days. Even with the 10% discount it was 114 euros for 2 days. To make that worth you need to visit 3-4 museums a day, and these to be the expensive museums. It just isn't possible with the time it takes to move around and eat/drink something in the meanwhile. Not worth it.
Hi! Thank you for sharing your experience-it adds valuable insight for others considering the Vienna Pass. To get the most value out of the Vienna Pass, I’d suggest planning ahead by selecting key attractions and checking individual ticket prices to see if it’s a good fit for you. Grouping nearby sights can also save time and help you enjoy your day without feeling rushed.
Herzlichen Dank fur Ihre Hilfe!
Hello Grete! Thank you for your videos, they are very helpful! I just have one question, do you get the same experience, time to explore, and overall everything the same during the time in the museum comparing the Vienna pass and a bought ticket from the office website?
At most attractions, the Vienna Pass grants you the same experience as regular tickets bought directly at the sight. I would advise you to check in advance on the Vienna Pass website under "Sights" to see exactly which ticket is included. For example, at Schönbrunn, you get admission to the "State Apartments," which is a highlight tour. If you wish to see the "Grand Tour" with all the rooms of the palace, you would have to pay extra for that.
@@gretetheaustrianguide How it works with extra pay? Can I pay extra on the spot while having Vienna pass? Thank you very much for your previous answer and in advance for this one! :)
It varies depending on the attraction. For Schönbrunn, for instance, you'll need to purchase a regular ticket for the "Grand Tour." if you want to see all the rooms. You can do this either on-site at the ticket counter or through their website (I recommend the latter, as it allows you to select your time slot in advance).
Hi @Grete Walz One question about the use of Vienna Pass for Opera House tour. The Vienna state opera website for guided tours are all paid tours. How to get the Vienna pass discount? I tried to put the code number of my Vienna pass but it is invalid. So confusing…
I checked with the Vienna Pass office. To book a tour, please follow the link on their website: www.viennapass.de/en/sights/guided-tour-of-the-vienna-state-opera. Select your tour and complete the registration process. In the final step of the purchase, you can enter a discount code, which will reduce the price to 0 EUR. You should have received this code with your booking confirmation. Hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please contact Vienna Pass directly.
@@gretetheaustrianguide Well that’s the thing though, there is no discount code received in the confirmation email of the purchased Vienna pass (mobile pass: only barcode and pass number). This number cannot be used as the gift voucher or promotional code (I tried both and failed). Thanks for checking though, kindly share if you have other info. Appreciated!
In the email, you should find a link titled something like "Information for Your Entries." This will lead to a document detailing the entry information for the State Opera, Schönbrunn Palace, Spanish Riding School/Hofburg, etc. You should find the discount code there. Hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please contact Vienna Pass directly.
@@gretetheaustrianguide You are right! I’ve found it, thank you so much! Booked the tour already, thanks! You’re very helpful and thanks for the great informative videos! ✨✨
If you want to see a lot it can be a good option. I recommend, to plan what you want to see and then check if the pass is worth it for you. Enjoy your time in Vienna!
There isn't a Vienna Pass Shop or Service Center at the airport. However, you can purchase the Vienna Pass online in advance through the Vienna Pass website bit.ly/grete-vienna-pass-DE You have the flexibility to buy it either before your trip or upon arrival at the Vienna airport (where free WiFi is available). The validity period of your Vienna Pass begins only when you first use it.

Yes that is correct. The Vienna Pass doesn't include the ticket for the public transport. You need to purchase that extra.

Mit dem Vienna Pass kannst du direkt zu den Drehkreuzen beim Eingang gehen. Dort wird dann der Vienna Pass eingescannt.

Yes it is available for everyone as long as the child is between 6 and 18 years old.
