Mark Hollis had an amazing, haunting voice that captured your heart.

The passing of Mark Hollis gave a sort of shock wave, and many musicians credited Talk Talk and Mark Hollis as a huge influence, as did many people to whom their music is such a dear part of their lives.
There were many tributes, and because of that a lot of people (re)discovered their legacy, and video's such as the concert 'Live at Montreux' '86. Which is awesome!

To my shame only since Mark died I discovered their music. Spirit of an Eden blew me away when I heard it first.

Spirit Of Eden is an absolute masterpiece & It's My Life & The Colour Of Spring are essential as well. Mark lived comfortably off the royalties from No Doubt covering It's My Life. Life's What You Make It is my favorite song by them.

Mark Hollis pushed his music beyond the commercial demands of record companies & the music buying general public. He had total disregard for mass commercialism.

News of his passing reached me late too. TT made it to my top ten ever bands right from first listen of It's My Life. Something in Hollis's voice never left me. To this day I can't listen to I Believe In You w/o weeping...It's so raw. What a seminal act they pulled off with just 5 albums.

Mark Hollis' self titled solo album from 98 is also a masterpiece in league with the last 2 Talk Talk albums. Paul Webb and Lee Harris did 'O'rang, also worth checking out for those thirsting for more

I agree with you. I bought their album in the 80"s but now discovering the magic of their less commercial music today. Been doing a deep dive in TT and Hollis. I love your analyzation. Exactly what t wanted to do! Great job!!
Watching old Hollis interviews which he looked miserable giving. I Believe You is my favorite so far, and Does Caroline Know? I can't stop listening. Every day I add another TT song on my playlist and the wear it out.

The party's over is very good, it's my life too, Colour of spring is a fine album, Living in another world is a sensational song. Spirit of eden, laughing stock are remarkable recordings, you have to really want to hear them albums to get them. I love New grass from Laughing stock in particular. God rest him - Mark Hollis, an innovative star.

During the 1980's, there was no band from the UK that was comparable to Talk Talk. And the drummer, Lee Harris was absolutely gorgeous. His drumming was excellent and energetic. No other drummer performed as exciting as Lee. And Lee being absolute eye candy didn't hurt.🎉
