    Classic brooding 80s, with a great balance of acoustic and electronic goodness.. Thanks for watching! 🥰

    It doesn't happen often but the live version is even better. Check out their Live at Montreux 1986 video of this song. Amazing. Enchanting. Soul-consuming.

    I absolutely love Talk Talk. On a cloudy, rainy day, loud, it doesn’t get any better than that.

    Beautiful music, I got a lot of their works in my collection but didn't remember this, it's always a pleasure listening to Talk Talk. Unique voice of Mark Hollis and great 80's tone melodic music. See you later!

    Damn I forgot how much I used to vibe out to this song. Great song, great album... One of the great unsung bands of the 80s .
    The live version of this from Montreux Jazz Festival 1986 is pretty special as well.
    RIP Mark Hollis. 🌹

    Great reaction Brandon!! This was a pleasant surprise - and made my Friday afternoon!
    LOVE me some Talk Talk. This is such a 'vibe' song. I would love to hear you react to more! Life's What You Make It, Talk Talk, Such A Shame, Living In Another World...all are must listens! Such a great band! RIP Mark Hollis. Cheers!

    Some people just don't like the 80s sound, finding it too “synthy”. Yet it's hard not to recognize this band's creativity, and Mark Hollis' unique vocal delivery. I'll be bold here and admit (...get your proggy pitchforks and torches🔥ready now...) that I prefer Talk Talk's music to much of 80's Genesis. There, I've said it! 🤗 Indeed, "The Colour of Spring" is one of my all-time favourite albums. Excellent pick for a first Talk Talk song, Brandon!👍Hope to hear some more from this band on your channel. 🐝

      Well, me being a "synth head", I will fall for them every time 😀 Thanks for sharing your bold thoughts! It's so interesting to see which combination of artists my different viewers like. I see 2 of their top streamed songs are on that album (the 2 starting with L's) Talk Talk will definitely be back! Thanks

      "...that I prefer Talk Talk's music to much of 80's Genesis. There, I´ve said it!" And yes says the proggy nerd with his pitchfork. I thought Talk Talk is the typical 80´s synth-pop-disco-crap back then - and in fact they were something like that in the beginning if I remember right. "It´s a Shame" was noodled up and down the radio and for some reason this song seemed to confirm my verdict about them - until a friend came up with the whole "It´s my Life"-CD on a holiday trip. I was very surprised and especially liked the melancholy mood as in this song here. Next thing for me was to buy "The Colour of Spring" - even better than the previous one and definitely than 80`s Genesis!

    Talk Talk is my all time favourite "hidden" gem of all time. There is no one like them and no voice like the late Mark Hollis...This song is so unique and nestled amongst the other gems on "It's My Life" Album makes the whole album one of my favorite albums of all time. I thought nobody else loved this sone.. I must say it is one of the saddest songs but "nonetheless".. it soothes my soul, thanks Brandon, I'm getting to see more of your videos and can see we are certainly on the same wavelength, Merci 😍

    A first for me!! I really enjoyed this one, as I’m only familiar with just a few of their bigger hits. This has really been a banger of a week….it’ll be hard to beat this next week! You’ve been in synth heaven 😊

    Hey Brandon. Great choice but DEFINITELY NOT Dire Straits - oh my! Mark Hollis was so ahead of his time and responsible for the introduction of the post rock movement in the late 80s. May I suggest ‘Living in Another World’ which is their Magnus opus imo. All the best. Dave✅✅

    Very cool... never heard this one before! I think I've only ever heard "It's My Life" from them 😮 The intro sounded like it could've been "cruising" music in Miami Vice! 😂 Went into some crazy directions as well 🤔... and I love that bass! ❤

      @retroreactions.... interesting! Just listened to that and it doesn't sound familiar!!! I grew up on Classic Rock so that was my music of choice in the 80's... I did (and stil do) love 80's music but I can't say I did any "deep dives" into groups like this... I think I mostly listened to whatever they played on the radio!!! LOL (and whatever plays on my 80's station on Pandora - which sometimes plays stuff I never heard) 😅 ❤️

    • @retroreactions....
      @retroreactions....  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh wow, OK. Maybe it wasn't as big as I thought (didn't chart super high in US or UK). Of course I listened to the stations that would have played it and you were listening more to classic rock stations I'd guess back then...

  • @sagitt1856

    Excellent song selection from TALK TALK! And as for hearing good '80s keyboards/drums, I suggest you listen to two bands who have gone under the radar but who nevertheless produced very interesting compositions: PROPAGANDA (particularly the song "P: Machinery", 1985; especially the extended version) and THE CHAMELEONS (more precisely the song "Caution", 1986). Thanks.

    • @retroreactions....
      @retroreactions....  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, how have I not heard of either of those bands. Were they not big in the US?

    • @sagitt1856
      @sagitt1856 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@retroreactions.... THE CHAMELEONS is a (post-punk/new wave) band from England; PROPAGANDA (dark new wave/synthpop), a band from Germany. They were very important in their musical genre but little known outside the community of die-hard fans of it. In short, they were very popular in Europe. THE CHAMELEONS toured the United States a few times; but as for PROPAGANDA, I cannot comment.

      @Ifyoudonttakeitucantfakeit 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely the “party is over “=and then” have you heard the news” both showcase Mark. Hollis sad but fab Voice.- The band had two distinct phases the first of which I love but after the colour of spring it went a bit weird for my liking. The first three albums you can’t go wrong with any track to be honest but for me the first album is very underrated and shows fabulous songwriting abilities. Both songs are quite short so don’t worry.

    Talk Talk,probably one of my favourite bands of any era,their music just got more and more dense and complex,in such a good way.Such an interesting band with so many great songs,i truly believe them to be in the top echelon along with Pink Floyd,Radiohead,Arcade Fire et al.

    • @retroreactions....
      @retroreactions....  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The best! Now you have me curious, being a huge Duran fan. Is it a famous Duran song or a deep cut?

    • @michaelbaucom4019
      @michaelbaucom4019 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@retroreactions.... probably a deep cut,,I know it wasn't one of their hits.
      A small anecdote: in the early 80s( when Duran Duran was at their height), I would sometimes babysit my two tween cousins, who were all in on Duran Duran. I'd let them play their Duran Duran records, which is what activated the memory. Of course,, I'd play Kansas and Supertramp in return...they loved Supertramp, Kansas(save Dust In The Wind) not quite as much.
      Duran Duran was/is very talented and able, if they'd wanted to, they could have been a prog band.

    • @retroreactions....

      Nice trade off! The only 2 Duran songs that I can think of with slight vibes of this are "The Chauffeur" and "The Night Boat"..
