      If they made a convertible version, I would consider it. I heard the wind buffeting is horrible with the windows rolled all the way down....that is a deal breaker for me....being a convertible would solve that...plus would be more enjoyable.

    Hi Matt. While at 67 years of age I'm certainly not running out to buy a Supra (I doubt very highly that I could even fit in it),I want you to know that I watched your review from beginning to end. You might ask why would I watch a review of a car that I have no interest in. The answer is very simple, it's your enthusiasm. I truly get a kick out of the tremendous joy you get from driving this car. Your face lights up like a Christmas tree in total darkness and every expression of your body says that there
    is no place that you would rather be. Your enthusiasm is so contagious that i was having fun just watching you having fun. I must tell you that at 67 having fun is not a very frequent occurrence (just ask my wife who makes sure of it). So that's the reason I watched the entire video, I was piggybacking your fun so that I could be happy too. I hope that you never change your style and keep letting us share in the visceral joy that you obviously receive from these cars. I send my best regards to you and your family and wish you the most joyous of holidays

    Owner of an A91 MT here. Coming from Porsches and other high performance cars, this is the overall best sports car I’ve ever owned. It’s an amazing daily, looks insane, is fast as hell and the fact that it’s a BMW is really a plus in my book. The manual is great and my only complaint is the lack of an overdrive. 80mph is close to 3k rpm. This car will be a highly sought after classic, no doubt.

    Since it’s a bmw transmission there is a clutch delay valve limits the flow of fluid through the clutch line via an orifice that can be removed. Once you remove the “delay valve” or orifice plate in the line it feels like a normal manual transmission. It’s used to prolong clutch life by ensuring the clutch engagement is smooth and reduced the risk of abrupt torque delivery through the drive line

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the insight! Seems odd to try preserving the clutch at the cost of the whole transmission (with the grinding) but I guess the compromise pays off for the majority that don’t rush their shifts.

    IMO the base 3.0 with a stick is totally worth saving a few grand. I've heard the upgraded speakers are meh, I prefer the non leather seats, and I can give up a touch screen and smudges in my sports car. Red brakes look good but you could always upgrade the calipers or pads for a few bucks and for the street I am sure it totally fine.

    Looks like this Supra is so much better than the upcoming M2. It is a better driver's car because of more precise manual gearbox, easy-to-read tachometer, and direct-access real physical buttons. Also the Supra is built on a stiffer, dedicated sports car platform, that's why it is almost 200kg (!!) lighter compared to the BMW Porker. And last but not least the Supra has ultra-expensive forged wheels as standard, while the new M2 cheapened out on that as well.

    The 400z being a more static car, such as no drive modes, no adaptive suspension, etc. makes it less of a headache to deal with than the supra. You just get in and go without worrying about changing any settings. WIth that being said, I'd still pick the supra.

    Went from a 2020 to a 2023 and the steering and handling changes are quite big. The car seems much more refined and connected to the road. The steering has more feel and way less numb. The car doesn't step out on you nearly as much. Bet on track the car would perform with more confidence at 10/10ths.

    Regarding the lack of crackles and pops with the manual: I had a Focus RS and got really tired of them after a couple of weeks. When I gave rides to friends who had not experienced them, the thrill came back a little. But I started to feel like they were a dumb gimmick. 100% agreed. And many others say the same. Take a car like the “safe” GR86. IMO, very stylish in pics and when seen IRL, looks bleh to me. Almost like the digital version is better than the analog version. But IRL, the A90/A91 Supra is stunning. Like “what 911” kind of stunning. The reaction from others on the road tells the story. As a father myself I totally understand. RS3 is a blast. If you’d still like a RWD manual though I’d recommend the CT4-V Blackwing instead, closer to Supra in dynamics and involvement, still feels nice and small but roomy enough in the back for kids or adults. M3 is another option that offers the same, just a little bigger but I still haven’t driven the new one unfortunately.

    I have a 2020 3.0 premium and I have an opportunity to trade up to a 2023 3.0 Premium MT at MSRP. I'm on the fence. I love manuals and BMW makes a great transmission, but gear grinds? In 2022? Fuck. I already got a car that does that shit (the MT-82 in my mustang). That's a real let down for me. It's not a huge deal to delay shifts, but you shouldn't have to, it gets exhausting, especially if you're driving in traffic with the trans ice cold and you gotta delay a bit accelerating slower than most.
    Is there any point in getting the premium anymore? For 3k you get the HUD and 12 speaker and leather seats and that's it? If not, that's kinda weak.. And no Android Auto in 2023? C'mon....
    As for the burbles, I don't use sport mode unless I'm in the canyons, so I don't hear burbles on the regular anyway. It's a nice touch, but I rarely use it. I mostly daily drive mine, so not in the canyons.
    Damn, I'm really on the fence now 😕

Mustangs are so lame; so, please don't suggest Ford's trash buckets. Anything 4 door isn't a sports car, don't even consider it.
