This car probably won't inspire the 2JZ devotees of the MKIV, but it'll do fine in the history books. Whiners be damned, it's a good collab between BMW and Toyota. As an MKIV fan, I'd like one.
Nothing will EVER satisfy the MKIV 2jz fanboys. They get triggered at the idea of a MKV doing well. All I gotta say is Papadakis Racing team has won back to back Formula Drift championships on the A90 platform and the B58. They could have chosen the 2jz to build their car on, but they didn't. As Papadakis says, times move on and he wanted the challenge of building up the B58 in the Supra.
They 2JZ fanboys are mainly kids anyways

If this was an actual Toyota us 2jz guys would give it a chance. Real car enthusiasts love the mk4 and understand that it is an icon. The mk5 is not. Plain and simple. And it's younger crowds that like this thing.
@@hondaman8648 "Real car enthusiasts"? LoL I grew up with the MKIV when nobody wanted to buy them and Toyota eventually stopped selling them because of poor sales (fact). Now suddenly they are legendary? I would rather buy a Porsche than paying $80,000+ for a high mileage used MKIV.
Best thing I did to my 2023 A91 6MT was get bimmercode to remove the fake engine noise. I ended up buying a full catback exhaust and now I can finally enjoy it. The fake engine noise got annoying so fast.
No option to turn it off from the infotainment system?

Potentially picking up my Supra 3.0 premium manual in a week or so, been talking with TheTopher about different manual vehicle options, and hes helped me reach that the Supra is pretty much everything I want in a vehicle at the moment. Very excited!

@@471471174 I was between the new M2, RS3 and the Supra. I want a manual vehicle because I enjoy the driving experience of it. Heard the MT on the new M2 was no very good, and obviously the RS3 doesn't come in manual, but it's a great car. I had been searching for a manual supra forever and finally found one at MSRP so it was impossible to pass up. Should be arriving Friday
I work for a Toyota Dealer, and we got a red manual Supra in. Can't wait to drive it to the gas station, even if it's only about 150m away, lol.
All of ours got sold out to the mechanics or top sales men, only GR corolla are on the lot.
I am an older person who remembers both automatic and manual transmission cars over the years. I even remember the 3 speed column shift from many years ago. It is good to see that for driving enthusiasts that want a manual transmission, there are still a few manual transmission cars out there. However manual transmissions are becoming rare, but they have not gone extinct.

That blue is beautiful
I believe it is the same as BMW's Portimao Blue Metallic. My wife's 330i is Portimao Blue, and I could totally see it working on the Supra. It gets a lot of compliments from friends and randoms alike.
I love it. Seems like it's a little more livable on a long trip than I expected! I find the idea of Supra so tempting... though I am not sure if I am willing to give up having four doors or not.
Just do it brotha. I use my Supra as a daily and it is very comfortable and practical
How often are you driving 3 people? A lot of the time people are obsessed with practicality when they don’t really need it.
@@HaloDude557 Even so, my buddy has a wife and kid (9 years old, already 5’7). He has the Supra and his wife has an old Matrix. They primarily use the Supra since it’s a nicer place to be. He takes the kid to school and grocery gets with no issue
@@Cal-El well he clearly doesn't need the backseats if he's not taking the whole family out in the Matrix often. People will say they need a full sedan and drive their friends like twice a year. Or they will say they need a truck to move furniture but only use it once to buy a couch in 5 years. This whole obsession with practicality is why the road is fulled with SUVs and trucks for literally no reason.

I just preordered my 3.0 premium Supra a month ago and was quoted a year turnaround. Watching your video really helps me affirm my suspicions about using the supra as a daily and fun car especially on road trips. Great video!
Supra has always been my dream car. I was 2nd on waitlist, my dream was about to become reality. But crazy me, I backed out and got deposit back. I ended up with a 2023 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 (6 speed) in python green. Absolutely no regret, especially when you have the mid engine literally behind the driver seat singing to you.

@@bman1668 Haha, I already have a 1992 Civic Hatch w/ rebuilt GSR motor & typical bolt-ons. So, I don't need another proj car to mod...since Supra engineers seemed to have designed the MK-Vs expecting consumers to be modding the hell out of it via aftermarket (stock MK-V seems lacking, even my wife thinks the exhaust tone was lame). In all seriousness, I can't bash too much on the Supras, I'm still a fan of all its generations.
The biggest difference for me between Supra 3.0 vs 718 4.0 is the engine tones, especially inside the cabin. What an experience in the 718, plus naturally aspirated. BUT I did pay A LOT more for all that (impractical for the majority). Then the hood...I feel the Supra's hood is just so long & bulky to look at both from outside and inside the cabin -- that was a turn off and the discerning factor for me since I do track days. I don't know how much of that affects the nimbleness of the car compared to the robust agility of the 718. Not much difference on curb weight: Supra at 3,400 lb vs 718 at 3,166 lb.
There's a reason why Car and Driver drives all the way from Michigan to test exotics there! Great way to spend a weekend, especially living a couple hours away.

As an M340i owner I would probably like it a lot, especially with the manual. Now if Toyota would just make them more readily available to buy!
Radar cruise control, lane keep assist and heads up display are available with the premium package
No ACC on the manual though. But it does have lane keep, collision and hud.

@@mmiu100 I've been #2 on the wait list for a '23 manual since November and I'm still #2 on the waitlist. My dealership has gotten 1 supra since November and it was an automatic. And I'm in a major US city at a big dealership.
@@mmiu100 I think there are 6 people in front of me and they told me the wait time is about 6+ months but that's fine with me. Gives me more time to save up

You're 100% right to call out the interior space. At 6'4", I sadly don't fit - at least not if I want to preserve my right leg. Beautiful car, but the interior is simply too small with no adjustments for height. And I would absolutely love the manual. It sounds amazing. Thank you for sharing the positive experience!

I’ll give this new engine a chance especially since it’s now 6 speed stick ! .. and this coming from a Supra fan as my first ever road car I bought at 14 was an 1987 Toyota Supra turbo targa manual r154 trans .. before 16 I was pushing 580 thru a mildly built 7mgte and that car was undefeated in Philadelphia on the street races around 07 nothing short of a drag car had anything for it until I spun a rod bearing racing a red ams built evo8 way past the 1/4 lol I stayed in 4th and over rev’d the hell outta my car to win lol I wasn’t letting off first lol

Great video. I noticed only something coming out of the left pipe when you did the cold start. I would think both pipes would have gasses coming out. I noticed the same thing when I test drove one. Is this normal?

Ooohhhhh nice I didn't know Hocking Hills had great driving roads. I lived in Southwest PA (Pittsburgh region), so I am very close to the OH and WV boarders. Hocking Hills is even closer to me than you guys in MI. I also didn't know Car and Driver tested there. Saw another comment about that, and did a quick Google Search to confirm.
Ohio also apparently has its own 'Tail of the Dragon' on state route 536. It seems to be popular with motorcycle riders, but you can find some cars running the route as well here on TH-cam. I need to make the trip for that too! It's of course not on par with the real Tail, but its much closer for us in the Ohio/midwest region.
As someone who goes to Hocking area once or twice a year, roads are awesome. Having my GT86 through there is a blast, so the Supra would just make it even better. Definitely worth the drive
Wow nice road. I didn't know winding roads like that exist in the Midwest or does this qualify as the Northeast? The houses are a bit different from the ones off the winding roads in Malibu.

I drove a automatic from NYC to Baltimore before I sold it. it was pretty good on a 200 mile plus trip
Does the manual premium have adaptive cruise control like the AT? Also how is the HUD in the manual premium is it like the M series in sport mode. I drove an M series with the hud in sport mode and it was huge and pretty awesome how video game like it was. I haven’t heard anyone discuss these features?
How do both of these cars drive in terms of handling, steering and brake feel?
I went to college at Ohio University which is down the road from there. Amazing roads and sights. I thought Ohio was all ugly too

Fun fact, the 3.0MT Supra has iManual which automatically revs to match your selected gear on a downshift. I'm also terrible at heel toe but even in sport mode I leave iManual on and the car makes me sound like I'm a pro!

fyi auto Supra has driver assistance package. Which includes adaptive cruise, lane keep, and collision warning.
Manual has lane keep and collision, but not ACC.
I used to hate on Toyota for this gen Supra but now I don't care anymore. I will never afford one anyway 😅

Hi, I was actually looking at the 2023 GR Supra 3.0 MT. I was just thinking if I should keep my E90 328i 2011 (n52) as a daily driver or upgrade to a Supra. So far, my E90 328i has been a absolute tank of a daily driver. Plus the Supra does cost a pretty penny! :)
we don’t need anything new but if it’s something we enjoy and love there’s no reason to shy away from spending on something u love and will bring joy.

How's the wind buffeting? I've heard it's really bad in the Supra to the point it makes driving with the windows down useless. Is this true??
Yea as Ricky said it really isn’t terrible but definitely should buy a wind visor for it to completely eliminate it

It's quite bad at highway speeds. Huge air pressure swings.
However, the car comes with AC.
For cruising at 30mph it's fine, not sure about 40.

I’ve been tempted to sell my 2014 Toyota FRS to pick up a A90 Supra MT. Despite not having a true Japanese engine, the B58 is such a good engine. Even tempted for a m340i if I l wanted a a four door. My goal is a A90 MT and 4th gen Tacoma if they do something great on it.
Not Japanese but toyota had influence on the engine which is good for me.

It's just a Toyota M2. Considering the new one M2 like 3800 lbs there's more reason to buy this now though

As a MK4 enthusiast, I find this modern take on the Supra to be really good, and definitely better than what I expected, and from a tuning standpoint, it’s just as capable as the MK4, to a certain degree of course, but still it’s not as bad as people think, I also had the pleasure of driving one recently, and I can tell you stock for stock (or even modified) it’s a better drive for sure 👌🏽
Idk what people were expecting with how times have changed. I’ve see. Renders of other models I’d rather have had. But, I think this is still an amazing car. I do like BMW as well, just not their reliability. But if anyone knows Toyota. They were in BMW left and right about durability off all the parts they used with this car. I’ve seen nothing but greet reviews about this car. 🍻

The thing that stuck out to me most from this POV vid is an obvious difference in the interiors of Mkiv and Mkv. In MKIVs jetfighter cockpit type interior is so cool. There is no trace of that design aesthetic/heritage in this mkv interior which looks very generic.
Ohio be Ohio. Check out the Ledges in Grand Ledge MI if you haven’t already. Basically the only place in the LP with sharp cliffs

There are two motors in the Supra B58 and B58 TU1 335 HP vs 382 HP depends on the year. There's no BMW with a B58 and manual transmission afaik. There are rocks fucking your whole car up vinyl wrap it at least
There aren’t anymore in production iirc, but I had a manual M240i. there were earlier year M340i 4 doors with a manual+B58 combo as well.
It's also market dependent. Some cars use the 2019 engine, the EU in particular due to emissions.

Like what? The 2023 M2?? Of course the new M2 is faster but where I live I can't find one without a markup so I would have been paying $68,000-$75,000 optioned out. The Supra is a lot of fun even the automatic. I have a 2023 A91 6MT and I'm sure I'd also have a lot of fun in an automatic with the paddles. Amazing 2 seater platform.
@@Barbwire710 used m3/m4 f8X are sitting below 50k if you're lucky you can get some with pretty low miles. Not to mention the f80 platform is pretty simple to tune and good track oreitnated car. I guess if you're buying new than 60k is the bench point for sports car but still in my opinion its just not worth it.

@@shootdices I like your idea of the F8X platform used. Maybe a quick crank hub replacement on the S55 and you're solid. I've seen a lot of guys on here easily tune their F8X platforms.

One exhaust is deliberately blocked on a cold start so of course only one side blows at that point.
