Magneto's sheer tenacity is nuts. In one of the latest stories, he got his heart ripped out and his spine severed in the process - but the only thing it accomplished was to make him _pissed._ He just compensated for the damage with his powers and went on a war path.
fun fact: you can hear in that bit where tetsuo is talking to magneto with his mind he says "welcome...to... die!" which is magnetos line. also this episode is great
This was Easily one of my Favorite Death Battles, the track to the Fight was amazing (Ego Death), the stuff we got to see in it was awesome. But my favorite part of this was the Character moments, throughout the the fight Magneto treats Tetsuo as a child, and Tetsuo definitely had the outbursts of one, it wasn't until Magneto was being Brain scrambled and coughed up blood that he was tired of his "Tantrum" that he tried to end it(he even had red eyes in that moment) only to release Tetsuo's monstrous form, and amongst the Chaos in his mind he hears "it hurts, help me" that Magneto now realize that he's just a "poor child" who's lost control over his own mutation. Tetsuo Cried out for a Savior and Magneto answered, delivering the only Mercy kill in the entire series, and he thanked him for that and Magneto responded with "you're welcome". They were both well written and really separated itself from previous Death Battles I Love it
Yeah, I love how this nails Magneto's character. He does have massive amounts of compassion to mutants, especially those unable to control their power. Magneto understands what it is to be seen as a monster for something you didn't choose.
Magneto has no known upper limit to his powers and electromagnetism is one of the four fundamental properties of the universe so he should really never lose.
His focus and awareness is still a soft limit. Even a being with infinite power at their hands can be outplayed or surprised, and despite his superiority complex about mutants, Magneto is still fundamentally human. A human who can compensate for destroyed vital organs with his power, mind you - but still a human mind in a mortal body.
This Death Battle is great! I never would have imagined this match up. I was thinking Magento would face Dr. Polaris from DC, since he controls metal as well. However, Magento vs Tetsuo Shima from Akira was a great choice!
More like awful match up..hardly any similarities just another Western Supremacy over Eastern AGAIN drspite a whole year of Western triumphing over Eastern. Now its 2 years..also Magneto was held to be Heroic despite Murdering Japanese people

If you're looking at the most influence anime out there for introducing it to an American audience, it was probably Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and this one, Akira. Being one of the highest grossing movies of the year despite it being an adult animated foreign movie. Even to this day it's one of the most visually stunning animated films out there despite being almost 35 years old.

At that point, it's really just a matter of how you use it, and Magneto is a tough, focused bastard for obvious reasons. imo, I think that's why he gets the win. They both have godlike powers, but Magneto knows he does, has for an entire lifetime, and acts accordingly. Tetsuo doesn't have the experience for that.

One of my favorite lines I've read on it came from an analysis of the physics of his abilities, in which the writer mused, "I wonder if Stan Lee realized what he did when he put 'electro' in front of magnetism, when he was coming up with this character." Mags controls a fundamental force of reality and can even exert control (with greater difficulty) over the other fundamental forces. Basically, unless it's magic, he's free to mess with it with impunity, and he even finds workarounds for the magical stuff all the time.

This is the season of Death Battle, where there's actually some sad triumphant outcomes. Here, Magneto starts off as labeling Tesuo as a rampant child but by the end shows sympathy in calling him a poor child out of pity and putting him out of his misery before giving his welcome to Tetsuo's thanks.

Maybe if jean grey stays in complete control the whole time, but even so, I doubt it. Tetsuo loses control and his power runs rampant, jean grey loses control and the being that is giving her power takes over, like Naruto for example... And jean grey was chosen by the Phoenix force not because together they would be powerful, but because jean grey has enough untapped potential, that she could handle a lot of power, so really the Phoenix force is on a different level, magneto is very very powerful for a mutant, in his average state (which is saying a lot) but Phoenix force has to be compared to God type beings like death and eternity... The one above all can beat it, but he or she is literally called "the one above all", so maybe the living tribunal, who is also a multi universal being... Meaning they exist in every universe as one being... Phoenix force is a very crazy character, and knowing death battle, they would point out that the Phoenix force is the living energy of every telepath in that universe, so if tetsuo is in the same universe, that would include him.

This People seemn pretty bias. Because I dont know much about Magneto, but even after watching him in the Intro, theres no way he can defeat Tetsuo. At the End of Akira, Tetsuo turned into an adult, metaphorically, and transformed into a new Universe. Tetsuo is litteraly a Universal Threat, and while its hard to say how much controll and Combatpower he got, you can savely say Magneto has no means of hurting him. I give him that, if he kills him before he can enter that State, he wins probably. But Deathbattle let Situations escalate usually to let us see the full Potencial of everyone. So if you care for an accurate Result, its wrong. If you just enjoy the Show, yeah fine why not?

I think they are going to have a problem with Magento. With WW2, he has a set point in his history. While other characters history can be moved forward as time goes by, eventually they will have to kill off Magneto because they can't move his history forward. WW2 is a very important part of his history, so it's going to get to a point where he going to have to die of old age.
Several mutants have an extended natural life as a result of their mutation, and some are straight up immortal. Marvel has the perfect excuse to play it fast and loose with their aging, especially now that the mutant nation has the means to resurrect people - pretty much resetting their natural age - and are producing highly effective medication for many common afflictions.
This is so dumb. They conveniently ass pulled a scene where magneto contains tetsuos universe. Illogical. Magneto may be able to destroy things WITHIN tetsuo universe but not the universe itself. Just because somebody can control nuclear energy, doesnt mean they can kill a god
In none of the Akira stuff did it ever reach the point where Testuo was a god and it effected humanity. I mean his "universe" wasn't even 2000km wide before he biffed out of existence. That was kind of the conundrum where if he became one, he doesn't matter anymore. Thus the feat isn't that impressive. Tetsuo isn't Franklin Richards here.

From an outsider’s perspective, Akira was as influential and important for anime/manga as Watchman was for comic books.

This People seemn pretty bias. Because I dont know much about Magneto, but even after watching him in the Intro, theres no way he can defeat Tetsuo.
At the End of Akira, Tetsuo turned into an adult, metaphorically, and transformed into a new Universe. Tetsuo is litteraly a Universal Threat, and while its hard to say how much controll and Combatpower he got, you can savely say Magneto has no means of hurting him.
I give him that, if he kills him before he can enter that State, he wins probably. But Deathbattle let Situations escalate usually to let us see the full Potencial of everyone.
So if you care for an accurate Result, its wrong. If you just enjoy the Show, yeah fine why not?

I think they are going to have a problem with Magento. With WW2, he has a set point in his history. While other characters history can be moved forward as time goes by, eventually they will have to kill off Magneto because they can't move his history forward. WW2 is a very important part of his history, so it's going to get to a point where he going to have to die of old age.
Apparently he's got ultra slow aging now to get around that.
Several mutants have an extended natural life as a result of their mutation, and some are straight up immortal. Marvel has the perfect excuse to play it fast and loose with their aging, especially now that the mutant nation has the means to resurrect people - pretty much resetting their natural age - and are producing highly effective medication for many common afflictions.

In none of the Akira stuff did it ever reach the point where Testuo was a god and it effected humanity. I mean his "universe" wasn't even 2000km wide before he biffed out of existence. That was kind of the conundrum where if he became one, he doesn't matter anymore. Thus the feat isn't that impressive. Tetsuo isn't Franklin Richards here.
