For those wondering, Hercules vs Sun Wukong is basically one of the most recognizable figures in Greek mythology vs one of the most recognizable figures in Chinese mythology.
Correction: They are probably using the Roman Hercules since the Greek one is spelt as “Heracles” due to the goddess Hera hating him since he’s basically the child of Zeus’ many affairs so she named him after herself
it also probably has to do with them both getting into Divine trouble do to behavioral problems and being forced to go on long journeys to complete tasks to atone.
Wukong has like 100+ immorality and I believe Hercules have gave up his mortality

@@RainMicro she didnt name him at all, how can she name someone else's child lol and the two names have gotten conflated because of western media. they always use the roman name hercules for greek myths. watch any hercules movie or tv show (young hercules, hercules the legendary journey) or comics (wonder woman, marvel's hercules) and he is always using the hercules name but with greek gods (zeus, aphrodite, ares) instead of their roman counter parts. as for his name, he was named by his MOTHER alcemene who was a devotee of hera. as for which version they are using: its all of them cause thats what they do. they take feats from video games, comics and movies and put them all together as one
I really love how Magneto starts as generally annoyed at Tetsuo’s Attitude but after seeing the abomination he became and the cries for help Tetsuo had really made Magneto feel sad and eventually he put Tetsuo out of his misery
This is easily the saddest ending with Tanjiro vs Jonathan Joestar being the first one
And the first one was Leornado after he killed the rest of his team in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Battle Royale

Seeing the big baby is still disturbing from Akira and Magneto giving Tetsuo a mercy killing was a nice touch

Tetsuo's death was surprisingly touching for a Death Battle, even more so than Tanjiro's in my opinion.

Since Sun Wukong isn't as popular in the west as Heracles, here are some fun facts:
-Wields a size-changing staff that weighs 17,550 pounds
-Is at least quintuple immortal (enlightenment, the underworld's records, peaches, wine, pills)
-Can leap to the edge of the universe (which he did on a dare)
-Has fought the Celestial Kingdom and won (including fighting 36 thunder deities at once)
-Was only contained by an entire mountain with a magic seal from the Buddha on top
honestly thought that journey to the west was more popular than heracles tasks in modern day
I always find it funny that Wukong was such a menace that the other gods called Buddha to interfere but all Buddha could really do is put him a glorified time-out.

One line from Akira always stuck with me as a hypothetical, what would happen if you have an amoeba the power of a human. Likewise if you gave a human the equivalent higher power...how long before they could no longer be human, no longer relate, or just go insane and lose control as a rampaging mass.
When ya look at Magneto's backstory ya can't help but feel sorry for him.

To be fair, the Akira film was being worked on by the director/author, Katsuhiro Otomo, while he was still writing the story. The manga ended two years later in 1990.
Funny that Magneto shows up in Japan. Which he also shows up in Flash vs Quicksilver where Quicksilver is killed by a statue which is “totally caused by The Flash”, and he founds him in Japan.

This fight was pretty damn cool. The fight choreography and animation was just plain amazing.
The next episode marks the first time proper mythology is being used on this show, needless to say I'm pretty hyped. Here's hoping this leads to the use of cryptids and SCP's on this show someday.
I wonder what are they going to do with the footage ... I mean, Hercules is easy, using Disney's Hercules to show the Greek Myth as an example... But Sun Wukong? Maybe the Lego one? Sun from RWBY? GOKU? You can't show only images
@@hellkaiser64 there are many adaptation of both Hercules and Sun Wukong like for Hercules there are multiple movies like the Disney Movies, some documentary of Greek mythologies and even the comic adaption. For Sun Wukong there is the iconic Journey to the West 1980's TV shows, some movies and many more. So they have plenty of footage to use for both of them.
They've outright declared there will never be an SCP in Death Battle. The lore is far too inconsistent, and varies wildly between writers.

Also one of the researchers did say they're keen on doing SCP 682 vs Doomsday, so it's not like they don't have any interest in using SCP's.

I love your channel and reactions. I never expected Death Battle would do a Mythology battle.
I love Magnetos powers and his character. Being able to control metal, sounds so simplistic and is typically a very straight forward type of power. But his intelligence, and creativity with his powers expanded his capabilities to a point where he could combat insane things. I'm pretty sure there's a storyline where magneto wields Thors hammer. I don't believe he is able to actually use its full power, I haven't read it in a long time. But he used his control over magnetic fields to be able to wield it, which in my mind is quite cool and impressive considering he used a science based ability (Magnetism) to control a magic weapon wielded by a God.
Probably the Ultimate comic line where there is apparently no magic "user must be worthy" incantation on Thor's hammer, it seems to just be really heavy, so Magneto just used his powers to overcome the sheer weight of it.
Which was probably near the comic lines end where the creators said "screw it" and just started gruesomely killing off a lot of characters.
Magneto has Thor's hammer during Ultimatum, the event ending the Ultimate universe, where I believe he is either tricked by Doom or gets angry over Quicksilver and/or Scarlet Witch dying, so he tilts Earth's axis/rotation by messing with Earth's magnetic poles resulting in him killing a vast majority of Earth's population and off-panel killing a bunch of other Marvel characters since places on the coast like New York are hit by massive floods as the oceans rise.
Eventually leading to what little is left of the X-Men attacking with Magneto apparently finally killing Wolverine until Cyclops has had enough who just optic blasts Magneto's head off.

I actually did know about the Malcolm X and Dr. MLK parallels to Professor X and Magneto prior to this in a comic documentary called "Superheroes Decoded" a great documentary and even narrated by Batman himself Kevin Conroy. I highly recommend it
While I believe that Professor X and Magneto can be compared to MLK and Malcom X I don’t think they were truly created to be at least in magneto’s case. Magneto in his early appearances by Stan Lee was a blatant villain with no redeeming qualities it was Chris Clairemont that redefined the character as we now know him as.

@@user-sg3fb2de2e Mutant prejudice was always apart of X men comics yes but Magneto was a simply supremist for mutant kind and displayed no sympathetic or admirable qualities. You “looked up” I read the actual comics. I’m not talking about Prejudice of Mutant I’m talking about Magneto and his original character concept. It was not based on Malcom X at least not by Stan Lee, and I’m pretty sure Chris Clairemont was inspired by some famous Jewish leaders. That’s not to take away the similarities but that’s not how his character started out as

This battle did a great job with both characters at the end. In the back of Tetsuo's chaotic mind and the rapid mutation of his body he cried out for a savior, and Magneto answered putting an end to the suffering of this "poor child" as put it, in able to control his own mutation, and in the end Tetsuo thanked him for it and Magneto's Sympathetic "You're welcome"

I always love how Magneto kind of hopped back when Tetsuo transformed. Like, he was so surprised that for a brief moment, he forgot that he could fly.
I never cared about politics being put in comics. The only issue I have been having recently is when comics force you to pick a side and shame you for picking another side. Prof X vs Magneto is a "GOOD" example of placing politics in media because even if Magneto is portrayed as the bad guy, Magneto's backstory and character still makes his cause sympathetic enough to either side with him or follow his mindset clearly. Not every bad guy and their ideologies should be treated like Red Skull. I can't say the same for the newer Static Shock comics I've read or some other Marvel or DC stories like I Am Not Starfire or the way they handled Static's BLM arc.
Yeah, modern comic books are very different from how the X-men were created. They are very much focused on intentionally casting one ideology or another in a negative light without being self-critical and reflective like many of the earlier comic book stories are. It was about cleverly addressing social issues while providing entertainment, not shoving it down your throat.
Hm, the current Krakoa era of the X-Men comics handles that pretty well I think. It may not be at the very top of stories, but it does a good job of painting a nuanced picture. On the one hand you understand the desire of Mutants to create their own independent safe haven where they aren't a wrong show of power away from some bigoted thugs beating them to a pulp in the streets, or a fanatic group pursuing them because they see them as an affront to nature. But on the other hand you have all the issues that come with running a country - seclusion vs the dangers outside, diplomacy vs a show of force, transparency vs security... A Mutant nation has its perks, but it also draws all the attention to a single point and paints a target on their back. Plenty of characters have different takes and conflicts in that, pretty much all of them with an understandable reasoning behind it.

Because of Death Battle, I actually have a newfound respect for Magneto. The last time I ever saw him was in one of the X-Men movies that came out years ago and I never really thought much of the character.
Magneto is building allies from humans now. Mutants will be the new stronger species.

Prediction for the next Death Battle: Sun Wukong. Hercules is incredibly strong, I’ll give him that. But from what I read about Wukong in the beginning of Journey to the West, he is just plain broken.

I mean no hate in this. Changing a characters skin color will always be political. I can't even begin to comprehend the feeling of having my skin color be boiled down to a palette swap only to be used to get headlines by greedy corporations. The most current example look what's happening to velma in the new cartoon.

i would say that the x-men inspiration is an entirely different situation from race-changing characters because while both may be political/tied to politics that is mainly were the connection ends as the former is taking existing ideas, people, concepts and situations, to create something new using said things as references thus allowing a perspective to be used in a forgen setting to get an idea or concept across while the later has been generally used to appease an audience that doesnt come out for the product. it is superficial and the change often provides little to nothing of substance beyond robbing fans of something they'd actually enjoy and when i say that i mean that the race change is more often than not the final(-ish) results of problems with the writers as if those problems didnt exist there'd be no problems as the race-bent characters would at least be written well

When the writers take out a physics text book, or look into modern quantum mechanics it becomes clear that at the Omega level a power like Magnekinesis is basically the power of a GOD over almost everything in the electromagnetic interactive parts of the universe *AKA the roughl5-15 percent we can see, but it is the part WE live in and are PART of so...God*. So you'd basically need "dark matter" to not be in some way affected by Magneto's power. So is it any wander the Fox movies nerfed him considerably by changing his powers from Magnekinesis to Ferrokinesis *the ability to move and manipulate ferris metals*, it can be passed off as magnetism until you realize its not affecting electronics or anything else magnetism should affect. Its sort of like papyrikinesis or silicakinesis (paper control and sand/glass control) it feels like it should be extended to other materials but due to some metaphysical element is down to something weirdly specific...(although I do have yet to see anyone make a character with Necro-Florakinesis *control over all dead plant matter*
there is also something else death battle forgot to mention. Magneto can manipulate his own atoms, so you can't really destroy his organs, he can pretty much regenerate if he needs to, and has from even being vaporized (sort of).

So, the next episode is gonna be different. Unlike many episodes from comics, shows, movies, anime, and other media. This time, it would focus on the mythologies this time from what I heard.
I don't care if politics are added into a show, it bothers me when you literally make someone a different race just to try to pull in other viewers instead of prioritizing the story and ideals that attracted people to them in the first place. There a literally hundreds of characters of different ethnicities and colors that come together in comics where you wouldn't expect to see them. So if marvel cared about genuine representation they would pull from these stories. They've done that recently with obscure guys like Moon Knight and that was great.

Actually, Magneto and Charles were not based on King and X at all. That wouldn't even make sense since they're white and the allegory would go over some peoples heads. Early X-Men Magneto was a pretty standard, boilerplate villain with no complexity. His group was even called "The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants". The primary source of the comparison started from the introduction of the comic "God Loves, Man Kills" written by Chris Claremont, who retconned several things about the X-Men, including Maggie being a Jewish Holocaust survivor and him and Charles being friends, as well as their views that ran parallel to King and X. Stan Lee just took credit for it because it sounded good.
Yes thank you! I mean no disrespect to Stan I love him but Chris Clairemont was the one that mean Magneto what he was and the X men as a whole. The one thing that bothers me sometimes is that even know Stan Lee created a lot of these characters some of the writers are not given enough recognition for redefining the characters as we recognize them as. It's one thing to be inspired by real world events and historical figures, but that has nothing to do with race-bending the original source material in movies just for the sake of meeting the status quo with what they say is "needed diversity and representation". If they needed representation, then put a character that already fit the role as they were made originally for. The only defense I'll accept is that Marvel and DC can call it a multiverse plot device.

I’m not surprised magneto won. I mean he flipped the earth magnetic poles to weaken prof X powers (don’t worry about it) but that was pretty crazy. Plus using Jupiter to kill a Phoenix host by giving it a planetary stroke/posioning like what… pretty crazy.
The problem isn't having politics in cartoons, the real problem is being lectured about shit that everyone on earth has long since figured out (prejudism for example) while also being forced to pick a side. With one side being fair and rational, and the other getting you labeled as a homophobic Nazi. If you're going to talk about politics, it should be done like South Park (Or in this case, more accurately, Professor X & Magneto): showing the good points and bad points of both sides. Not pointing fingers and calling names.
And changing white characters into black characters is also not the problem, the problem *there* is people pitching a fit when the same is done to black characters by changing them into any other race, not just white. If they did that to someone like Black Panther and turned him into Chinese, all of a sudden it goes from "what difference does it make what their skin color is?" to a PSA about black erasure. Because, in truth, it *DOESN'T* matter what their skin color is, but what *DOES* matter is the deeper meaning and symbolism behind the choice, like how DC chose to make Clark Kent a black man for one comic series instead of doing a series about Calvin Ellis.

I would have loved to see Mewtwo vs Tetsuo because Magneto vs Tetsuo feels like a extreme punishment for Tetsuo or in other words a stomp while Mewtwo vs Tetsuo is more interesting to see who would win. Also Lucy from Elfen Lied would have been a great opponent for Tetsuo and Mewtwo. Cool video. ^_^

@@knightofarkronia9968 Mewtwo vs Cell is like Arceus vs Beerus the power between the two are very different and while Mewtwo might fight strong I feel like Cell might has some extreme feats that puts Mewtwo's feats to shame also Cell takes hits from Goku and everyone and there are so many reasons why Mewtwo vs Cell is a stomp. I love both Mewtwo and Cell but Mewtwo more I wouldn't want a stomp fight against neither of them. I think Mewtwo vs Tetsuo should have happened death battle and other versus channels tend to use certain characters one time or two times in rare moments so having a interesting and great matchup is important while a stomp could just be a 1 minute melee or DBX just to get it over with. I hope Mewtwo makes a comeback because If Shadow can come back 2 times why can't Mewtwo come back. ^_^

Doesn't Mysterio start using actual magic past a certain point? Also I'd give it to Mysterio, even without the magic, because he uses physical illusions whereas Scarecrow lives in the realm of chemical hallucinations.

Honestly, I feel like anyone who underestimates Magneto has a screw lose.
He can literally manipulate one of the four fundamental forces of the universe, like, pretty much anyone who can control even just one of those fundamental forces are near omnipotent.
X-Men eventually became a favorite series of the LGBT for the same reason as POC. It truly is something you're born with and develop over time, just like a mutant ability. They alluded to it in X-Men 2 perfectly: "Have you tried... _not_ being a mutant?"
If you're a racist or a homophobe, you cannot call yourself a fan of X-Men, EVER.
I think X-Men was made in response to real world prejudices and issues. Especially during the civil rights movement.

To be honest that’s not actually true it’s a common misconception. Not to say that Magneto can’t be compared to Malcom X but he wasn’t intended to be at least not originally. In his original run in the X men Magneto was typical bad guy who had no redeeming qualities. It was Chris Clairemont that redefined Magneto as the character we know and love.

I would love to tell you 2 to look up some stuff about Sun Wukong, cause his myth is friggin wild. Like anime before animation was even conceived . But it might also be better for you to see his story for yourself on the next Death Battle
My problem is when they do make a character race deferent the media puts that character on a pedestal above the original, I'm black and I see that shit. Open your damn eyes and pay attention. The amount of times the media lied about people being mad at a race swap is alarming and its causing farther divide

Stan Lee didn’t take inspiration from them at least not for Magneto. In Stan Lee’s run Magneto was your typical villain with no redeeming qualities. It’s Chris Clairemont that redefined Magneto’s character as what we see him as today

To answer your question the manga wasn’t finished when the anime with being made as a matter of fact boat we’re being made at the exact same time so the creator had to come up with a different ending for the film and different one for the manga that’s why the two are completely different
