I distinctly remember before this episode’s release, nearly everyone in the comments was banking on Thanos to win. I think rveryone was coming off of the MCU Infinity War/Endgame hype. Don’t think people knew just how insane Darkseid was.

One of the issues in the book Superman moved so fast Darkseid could not understand how Superman saved a city of people and fought darkseid at the same exact time being in multiple places at once. Superman punches darkseid till darkseid bleeds then punches darkseid so hard that the boomtube activates itself and removes darkseid from the battle sensing darkseid would be in danger.
They did the Thanos side first in the previews and I remember a bunch of "Thanos has got this guys!" "Yeah!" 'ing, then when Darkseid's came out "Guys... I don't think Thanos has got this."
Santa is actually canon on DC Multiverse, he makes a HUGE effort to go pass Apokolips defences, without harming anyone, just to personally deliver a lump of coal on Darkseid's hands, Santa is a savage! Also, people on Earth make fun of Superman for still believing he's real, but he actually is! XD
I think my favorite part of this battle is that Darkseid's response to Thanos throwing his first punch is to intercept the punch with his face. Also, Darkseid spending most of the fight with his hands behind his back is a major flex.
Although not true in every case, this is the running theme between DC and Marvel. DC is the story of gods trying to find their place in a world that they can destroy with a simple gesture. While Marvel is the story of regular people trying to achieve the power of gods. It's sort of why Marvel often has more relatable stories, and why DC has been slowly moving towards a newer generation of heroes that are a bit more down to Earth while keeping the originals as their teachers and mentors. Of course, Marvel is also trying to move to a newer generation of heroes as well.

I believe Superman's singing destroyed Darkseid because he sang at such a high pitch frequency that it could not be heard. That frequency literally vibrated throughout reality and attacked Darkseid directly on a reality-level. It was a great moment since it showed off Superman's genius intellect (which most people ignore) and the fact that he is SUPER in every way possible, including the fact that his mere voice could disrupt the fabric of reality. Darkseid usually whoops Superman's ass 99% of the time, but this only worked in Superman's favor because he took a gamble and went to attack him directly in his true form. This didn't really BEAT Darkseid, it just kinda delayed him long enough to secure the next closest thing to a victory - kicking him off the main reality and saving the survivors of his invasion.
Darkseid only threw a punch at the very end. Other than that, he had his hands behind his back (besides using his powers or holding Jupiter back). He also crushed the Infinity Gauntlet in his hand when he won.
Some small things they got wrong and misinterpreted is the fact that Darkseid didn't become tyranny, that just comes with what he is. He became the god of evil, he is the very concept of evil itself. It's not so much that superman sang Darkseid to death, but rather superman calculated Darkseid's vibrational strings and sang a counter note to cancel them out. It's weird and complicated and has to do with string theory but that's what was happening. And that was after Darkseid had been fatally wounded by his son Orion, shot by that radion bullet and had his soul taken by the black racer(new god grim reaper). The Imaginary Axis has a two part video on the nature of Darkseid if you two wanna check them out, though they are long! Both about a half hour but they're very good in explaining who and what he is. Lastly, believe it or not, Darkseid is currently even more powerful in the comics then he was when this video was made!
@@Deros_ Trigon I would say yes, before Infinite frontier he stood no chance against mxy. After, I think there's a debate that can be made there. I don't know if you mean you thought darkseid was 4th dimensional or mxy but when it comes to dimensions it can be complicated. Mxy is stated to be a 5th dimensional imp, but that doesn't mean there are only 5 or 6 dimensions in DC, there are infinite. It's complicated.
Darkseid is one of my favorite villains in DC, and just to clarify one thing and I hope I’m not the only one who thinks this,number 1. I like Zack Snyder and Zack Snyder’s Justice League,but the entire reason why I support Zack Snyder and the SnyderVerse is because I want to see more of Darkseid.and I want to see more DC comics characters to make a live action debut.
Snyder's Darkseid (possible avatar form) was about to become the very threat he is from the comics, especially when he is the omega powered form at the boom tube stare down scene. The close up shot when Darkseid says the anti life was found was the most intimidating detailed look a CGI character could get.
The Best Darkseid moment was from the Superman animated series. Superman defeated Darkseid and gave him to his subjects telling them to do with him as they please. Thinking the slaves would kill Darkseid he was shocked to see them carefully help him and carry him away calling him master. As they carry him away Darksied makes them stop and tells superman " I am many things Kal-el but here I am God"
The thing is Darkseid's true form is a higher dimensional being. Unless I'm mistaken the Infinity Gauntlet can't affect anything on that dimension. So even if it somehow worked in Darkseid's realm it wouldn't do anything.
You are partially right. The Gauntlet can have effect on the multiverse (as it happened in the past via the byproduct of using it) but of course it can happen only if the user sits in the gems origin universe. Its like a shotgun, very high power (capable to easly erasing many multiversal being at the same time) but with limited ranged. In short if Darkseid True Form would enter the gems reality, Thanos could give True Darkseid a run for his money. But affecting Darkseid True Form from with Darkseid residing in another dimension is impossible. Either True Form Darkseid comes into the universe or Thanos has no chance of beating True Form Darkseid

You are severly understimating the powers of the gems togheter, the same common mistake a lot of people make and the very same mistake Wiz and Boomstick made in the death battle. The Gauntlet is easly capable of dealing with high multiversal beings and was even able to easly manipulate and redirect the power of the Ultimate Nullifier, which we have seen multiple times was able to erase the whole infinite mutliverse and with it even Multi-Eternity (who is at the very least on par with Darkseid's true Form) and then recreate it all in an instant. Don't think that Darkseid is one of the most powerful beings in both Marvel and DC because there are a bunch from both which can simply destroy him. The full power of the gems togheter is enough to go toe to toe with True Form Darkseid, infact in Secret Wars Black Panther was able to battle God Emperor Doom and although Panther ultimately lost, it was extremely impressive considering Doom had the power of the Beyonders, literally near-omnipotent beings who easly killed almost all multiversal abstrascts of existance inculding the Living Tribunal (LT is WAY beyond True Form Darkseid). So no, considering all consistent feats from both your statement is simply false. It is fanboyism in your words that I can read and feel from miles away and nothing else. If you really are conviced of the opposite, then give me striking proof of your thesis, bring some feat that makes Darkseid absolutely top the full power of the IG. (Spoiler: I already know every feat there is to know about these two, since i've been reading Marvel and DC for 15 years at this point).
@@StefSubZero270 Problem is that True Form Darkseid could NEVER be hurt from the gauntlet because he could never enter a universe with the Gauntlet. Darkseid’s True Form is infinitely larger and more powerful than the entire Multiverse itself. Which is why he has to use Avatars and Emanations. If Darkseid entered virtually ANY universe in the Marvel Multiverse in his true form then the entire Multiverse itself would cease to exist and instantly collapse into nothingness. Because even the Multiverse could never actually support the weight of his existence.
Darkside is just OP and that mostly goes for all of the DC Hero’s. I love both Marvel and DC but I’ve grown up knowing more DC than Marvel and it’s just crazy how strong They have come through out the years
Its when that one badass ant who has lived long enough to see many things in a lifetime, gets cocky and challenges that one human it sees, think of that and you can contemplate how insignificant Thanos is to Darkseid. Darkseid is such a cool villain! He is and always will be in my top 3 DC big villains. (There are smaller villains with less world ending stories that I prefer. Like Mr. Freeze or Manbat) My number 1 will always be Doomsday though. There is a death battle with Doomsday vs Hulk. That one is really good too
The same man created both Darksied and Thanos (in that order) Jack the King Kirby, famously when he left dc comics to work for marvel they asked him to create a Darksied character for them.

Believe it or not a similar endless death exists in JoJos Bizarre Adventures as a result of fate and a losing battle and its honestly more horrific because it implies through its course that there's no possible way in the human body to become accustomed to the complete randomization of torment within the few consecutive deaths shown. JoJo has brutal villain deaths but this is arguably the most extreme for a reason and Araki, the author, says its okay because it fits thematically as well as an endgame lesson to the villain. I get much of it but damn. For even the author to stick to his guns on that one is definitely hardcore if you know the source. Cause it ain't even living. Its the EXACT minutes of death and its a lot for such a small scale.
I respectfully disagree. While Golden Experience Requiem is horrible, it merely kills you over and over, while the Omega Sanction prolongs your suffering by making your life a living nightmare. And remember, your life and death both get progressively worse for the rest of eternity.

I feel like Darkseid has that same thing that Dr. Doom has, where they are so powerful that they really shouldn't lose vs who their main nemesis is. But if they win that's the end of the series so something always happens for them to screw up in some way. Side note, there was an animated universe they made in the mid 90s (Superman: The Animated Series, Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited ect. ) that had some of the best writing for DC. But in that Darkseid was the 1 guy Superman, the mega boy scout wanted straight up dead. I feel like when you're so cruel that the nicest guy on Earth what's to kill you out of pure spite you're doing evil proud.
@@Agent-57 During the climax, Flash beat Luthor but it seemed like it cost him his life to do so (they did a really on the nose "I'm going to heaven bit) but Superman legit thought Lex just killed the Flash and he said, "I'm not the man that killed President Luthor. Right now, I wish to heaven that I where but I'm not." Then they immediately brought Flash back but context wise Superman proved he wasn't the same guy. You compare that to Darkseid, he was willing to stay on a ship that was going to blow up and kill both of them just to kill Darkseid with his own hands. Batman had to teleport both of them out of there by force and he was not happy about that.
here's a fun little scene from the infinity gauntlet event that i just love. after creating the IG, thanos wants to finally become lady death's lover. but death wouldn't speak to him directly. instead, she only spoke to him through a zombie servant. when asked why she did this, the zombie told thanos that he was so low on the cosmic totem pole that he was unworthy of her direct attention and thus he didn't have the right to speak to her directly. so thanos showed off how powerful he was by doing "the snap". after the snap and showing off just how powerful he had become, he asked to speak with death again. and again, the zombie said he couldn't. the reason this time? because thanos had become so friggin powerful that he was now above her in the cosmic totem pole and thus, death felt SHE wasn't worthy of his attentions and thus she didn't have the right to speak to him directly. so thanos was boned. and not in the way he wanted.
which is actually pretty consistent for thanos. his biggest weakness is that his obsession with death has made him self destructive. he's conditioned to seek out his own destruction.... although he'll happily take everyone else with him while he does.
Yeah, to truly defeat Darksied you effectively need another god that has exceeded the limits of gods… not a large pool to start with and when you realize that the others that have done the same are almost all crazy, evil, destructive, or just unwilling to help… the options narrow down to… practically none.

My favourite Death Battle of all time. Hopefully Doctor Strange vs Doctor Fate next. By the way, the New Gods saga is one of many of the inspirations for Star Wars. The Source = The Force. Darkseid = Dark Side, etc.

Superman never *killed* Darkseid by "singing." Superman and Brainiac traveled to the end of time to glimpse the Miracle Machine responsible for everything that ever existed. They returned and built their own Miracle Machine in their prime universe to crystalize and trap True Form Darkseid in place. Superman had to produce a sonic frequency to shatter the frozen Darkseid. Even then, they only removed him from the prime universe and sent him back to Fourth World. Nothing can truly 'kill' Darkseid because he's the living concept of evil and tyranny. He's an idea intrinsic within the DNA of all existence. The only way to 'kill' Darkseid would be to construct a new universe where evil doesn't even exist in the first place. Darkseid is more of a living concept than a comic book supervillain, honestly. He's somewhat incomprehensible.
When Deadpool said befriender of ponies it's because death battle made Deadpool vs pinky pie from my little pony g4(which was a suprisely a successful show because the strero type girl show was being thrown out slowly) they did not kill each other....they became friends....and both had 3 things in common....having fun, think whacky and break forth walls
This is still a fun Battle, and I understand that Darkseid locked Thanos in the Omega Sanction, but really the final blow was just a simple gunshot, kinda anti climactic
DC is not only kinda stupid in comparison to marvels heavy hitters. Its downright broken. Take it like this. Darkseid is essentily the kid on the playground that claims by playground powers he can't be beat no matter what compared to Thanos saying he can't be beat unless every kid in every grade either gang up on hi. Or perform a math equation he can't solve as a way to outsmart him by the end of recess. Darkseid is just another building block in the horrific world building of DC comics that says how awful it is if you exist there. Marvel ain't much better but I mean. Disney has certainly made me forget of a lot of the really bad shit by comparison to Warner bros.
fyi, DeathBattle gets almost everything wrong, and this is a great example. the version of Darkseid they based their whole conclusion on isn't canon. it was retconned almost immediately after Morrison introduced it in Final Crisis. using *canon* versions of the characters, *Thanos would easily annihilate Darkseid.*

Strangely, to find a match for ridiculous entities like Darkseid, you gotta think outside the box. ... For instance, Squirrel Girl. She may be piss weak on paper in terms of actual powers, but she has the greatest power of all: plot armour. She wins because the writer of the comic she's in decides she wins. That girl has more plot armour than Superman, and that is some nonsense level of ridiculous.

So ... they're ordinary squrrels with no powers. But, when she calls them, they come in a huge swarm that far exceeds the squirrel population of wherever she's at. Meaning, her ability to call squirrels extends several weeks through time, to have them start running weeks ago. Since they're just squirrels doing squirrel things, they don't generate variance energy ... BAM. Kang gets destroyed because he may control the timeline, but he can't see them coming.
I agree with Beth, I don't like thanos either I think he's overrated lol. Darkseid is insanely powerful, there was even one story I think they covered it here where Hal Jordan as The Spectre(God's vengeance) destroyed him but the source which is connected to everything in the DC Multiverse and God as well, prevented Darkseid from being destroyed. Anti monitor is probably the strongest DC character being one of the few to actually kill darkseid. You should check out some content on him out if there is any

So how it breaks down in Ultimate power: Thanos in one incarnation has literally destroyed the entire omniverse and then contemplated whether this act was actually satisfying to do or to win... and came to the conclusion that the journey actually mattered far more than the destination. This Thanos became the reigning god, and it was a hollow victory. He told the current 616 version of himself of this revelation, thus altering his trajectory as a power in marvel forever. He's not really a hero or antihero, but more of a power capable of tipping or preserving the balance as need be. Darkseid... Darkseid is literally beyond the concept of any kind of god. Darkseid is literally part of fabric of creation, ALL creation, every creation. Where there is anger there is Darkseid, where there is ambition or fear or power, there is darkseid. Darkseid cannot be destroyed without ending *all* of existence to do so, because existence does not become without Darkseid. Darkseid has been "defeated" in the past simply because he has broken off parts of himself to oppose those he deems worthy of struggle or those whom amuse him. These facets and embodiments of Darkseid are finite. Darkseid is not. This battle is absolutely no contest.

here's a fun fact about Darkseid: Jack Kirby, of Marvel fame, quit working for Marvel and moved to DC (the company, not the state) and created Darkseid. he actually based Darkseid from a certain austrian dictator who tried to beome a painter but instead chose a different route when he wasn't accepted into the art university. i'm of course talking about Hitler. because Jack Kirby in his younger days actually was in the second world war and fought the nazi's. Darkseid actually has several similarites with Hitler himself, though it's too many to talk about for me. :)

The thing about Superman's power is this, even tho he gets his powers from yellow or blue sun rays it doesn't go away quickly if he's around a red sun. It takes time for his powers to deplete.
Generally, Darkseid would absolutely crush Thanos. This wouldn't even be close. Although the problem with pretty much all Western comic book characters is that their powers and abilities fluctuate dramatically with the contrivances of plot. For example, one moment Superman will be tanking the multiverse pressing down on him, and the next he'll be getting punched by Solomon Grundy and it'll actually hurt him. Even though the multiverse necessarily contains every punch that Solomon Grundy could possibly throw ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE. Characters will be powered up or de-powered depending on what the plot needs. And they'll show an ability that they'll only have for that particular plot point and then they'll forget they have it. Even though it'd be really useful for other plot moments either before or after that event. So it's kinda difficult to scale comic book characters because it's all so arbitrary. For example, with all the abilities and powers he has, Darkseid should be totally and utterly unbeatable. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for Superman to beat him. Except he does. All the time. Because plot.

Also only Darkseid's avatars have died that have less than a percent of his true power his true form has no weakness

The funny part of this battle is that they severely downplayed Thanos, putting him at Galaxy level is laughably bad. He should be millions of universe level at the bare minimum. I mean, this dude has taken on some insane characters like hulk, hercules, the Surfer, and sometimes even clutching the 1v3......... that being said, he still doesn't win, like EVER. Darkseid is like Unicron tier crazy.

While Marvel is the story of regular people trying to achieve the power of gods. It's sort of why Marvel often has more relatable stories, and why DC has been slowly moving towards a newer generation of heroes that are a bit more down to Earth while keeping the originals as their teachers and mentors. Of course, Marvel is also trying to move to a newer generation of heroes as well.

I believe Superman's singing destroyed Darkseid because he sang at such a high pitch frequency that it could not be heard. That frequency literally vibrated throughout reality and attacked Darkseid directly on a reality-level. It was a great moment since it showed off Superman's genius intellect (which most people ignore) and the fact that he is SUPER in every way possible, including the fact that his mere voice could disrupt the fabric of reality.
Darkseid usually whoops Superman's ass 99% of the time, but this only worked in Superman's favor because he took a gamble and went to attack him directly in his true form. This didn't really BEAT Darkseid, it just kinda delayed him long enough to secure the next closest thing to a victory - kicking him off the main reality and saving the survivors of his invasion.

Some small things they got wrong and misinterpreted is the fact that Darkseid didn't become tyranny, that just comes with what he is. He became the god of evil, he is the very concept of evil itself. It's not so much that superman sang Darkseid to death, but rather superman calculated Darkseid's vibrational strings and sang a counter note to cancel them out. It's weird and complicated and has to do with string theory but that's what was happening. And that was after Darkseid had been fatally wounded by his son Orion, shot by that radion bullet and had his soul taken by the black racer(new god grim reaper). The Imaginary Axis has a two part video on the nature of Darkseid if you two wanna check them out, though they are long! Both about a half hour but they're very good in explaining who and what he is. Lastly, believe it or not, Darkseid is currently even more powerful in the comics then he was when this video was made!

I don't know if you mean you thought darkseid was 4th dimensional or mxy but when it comes to dimensions it can be complicated. Mxy is stated to be a 5th dimensional imp, but that doesn't mean there are only 5 or 6 dimensions in DC, there are infinite. It's complicated.

Snyder's Darkseid (possible avatar form) was about to become the very threat he is from the comics, especially when he is the omega powered form at the boom tube stare down scene. The close up shot when Darkseid says the anti life was found was the most intimidating detailed look a CGI character could get.

The Best Darkseid moment was from the Superman animated series. Superman defeated Darkseid and gave him to his subjects telling them to do with him as they please. Thinking the slaves would kill Darkseid he was shocked to see them carefully help him and carry him away calling him master. As they carry him away Darksied makes them stop and tells superman " I am many things Kal-el but here I am God"

The thing is Darkseid's true form is a higher dimensional being. Unless I'm mistaken the Infinity Gauntlet can't affect anything on that dimension. So even if it somehow worked in Darkseid's realm it wouldn't do anything.
You are partially right. The Gauntlet can have effect on the multiverse (as it happened in the past via the byproduct of using it) but of course it can happen only if the user sits in the gems origin universe. Its like a shotgun, very high power (capable to easly erasing many multiversal being at the same time) but with limited ranged. In short if Darkseid True Form would enter the gems reality, Thanos could give True Darkseid a run for his money. But affecting Darkseid True Form from with Darkseid residing in another dimension is impossible. Either True Form Darkseid comes into the universe or Thanos has no chance of beating True Form Darkseid

The Gauntlet is easly capable of dealing with high multiversal beings and was even able to easly manipulate and redirect the power of the Ultimate Nullifier, which we have seen multiple times was able to erase the whole infinite mutliverse and with it even Multi-Eternity (who is at the very least on par with Darkseid's true Form) and then recreate it all in an instant. Don't think that Darkseid is one of the most powerful beings in both Marvel and DC because there are a bunch from both which can simply destroy him. The full power of the gems togheter is enough to go toe to toe with True Form Darkseid, infact in Secret Wars Black Panther was able to battle God Emperor Doom and although Panther ultimately lost, it was extremely impressive considering Doom had the power of the Beyonders, literally near-omnipotent beings who easly killed almost all multiversal abstrascts of existance inculding the Living Tribunal (LT is WAY beyond True Form Darkseid). So no, considering all consistent feats from both your statement is simply false. It is fanboyism in your words that I can read and feel from miles away and nothing else. If you really are conviced of the opposite, then give me striking proof of your thesis, bring some feat that makes Darkseid absolutely top the full power of the IG. (Spoiler: I already know every feat there is to know about these two, since i've been reading Marvel and DC for 15 years at this point).

If Darkseid entered virtually ANY universe in the Marvel Multiverse in his true form then the entire Multiverse itself would cease to exist and instantly collapse into nothingness. Believe it or not a similar endless death exists in JoJos Bizarre Adventures as a result of fate and a losing battle and its honestly more horrific because it implies through its course that there's no possible way in the human body to become accustomed to the complete randomization of torment within the few consecutive deaths shown. JoJo has brutal villain deaths but this is arguably the most extreme for a reason and Araki, the author, says its okay because it fits thematically as well as an endgame lesson to the villain.
I get much of it but damn. For even the author to stick to his guns on that one is definitely hardcore if you know the source. Cause it ain't even living. Its the EXACT minutes of death and its a lot for such a small scale.
I respectfully disagree. While Golden Experience Requiem is horrible, it merely kills you over and over, while the Omega Sanction prolongs your suffering by making your life a living nightmare. And remember, your life and death both get progressively worse for the rest of eternity.

I feel like Darkseid has that same thing that Dr. Doom has, where they are so powerful that they really shouldn't lose vs who their main nemesis is. But if they win that's the end of the series so something always happens for them to screw up in some way.
Side note, there was an animated universe they made in the mid 90s (Superman: The Animated Series, Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited ect. ) that had some of the best writing for DC. But in that Darkseid was the 1 guy Superman, the mega boy scout wanted straight up dead. I feel like when you're so cruel that the nicest guy on Earth what's to kill you out of pure spite you're doing evil proud.

Right now, I wish to heaven that I where but I'm not." Then they immediately brought Flash back but context wise Superman proved he wasn't the same guy. You compare that to Darkseid, he was willing to stay on a ship that was going to blow up and kill both of them just to kill Darkseid with his own hands. Batman had to teleport both of them out of there by force and he was not happy about that.

here's a fun little scene from the infinity gauntlet event that i just love.
after creating the IG, thanos wants to finally become lady death's lover. but death wouldn't speak to him directly. instead, she only spoke to him through a zombie servant. when asked why she did this, the zombie told thanos that he was so low on the cosmic totem pole that he was unworthy of her direct attention and thus he didn't have the right to speak to her directly. so thanos showed off how powerful he was by doing "the snap".
after the snap and showing off just how powerful he had become, he asked to speak with death again. and again, the zombie said he couldn't. the reason this time? because thanos had become so friggin powerful that he was now above her in the cosmic totem pole and thus, death felt SHE wasn't worthy of his attentions and thus she didn't have the right to speak to him directly.
so thanos was boned. and not in the way he wanted.
The man just needs to learn how to take a hint. lol

which is actually pretty consistent for thanos. his biggest weakness is that his obsession with death has made him self destructive. he's conditioned to seek out his own destruction.... although he'll happily take everyone else with him while he does.
Yeah, to truly defeat Darksied you effectively need another god that has exceeded the limits of gods… not a large pool to start with and when you realize that the others that have done the same are almost all crazy, evil, destructive, or just unwilling to help… the options narrow down to… practically none.

Superman never *killed* Darkseid by "singing." Superman and Brainiac traveled to the end of time to glimpse the Miracle Machine responsible for everything that ever existed. They returned and built their own Miracle Machine in their prime universe to crystalize and trap True Form Darkseid in place. Superman had to produce a sonic frequency to shatter the frozen Darkseid. Even then, they only removed him from the prime universe and sent him back to Fourth World. Nothing can truly 'kill' Darkseid because he's the living concept of evil and tyranny. He's an idea intrinsic within the DNA of all existence.
The only way to 'kill' Darkseid would be to construct a new universe where evil doesn't even exist in the first place. Darkseid is more of a living concept than a comic book supervillain, honestly. He's somewhat incomprehensible.
When Deadpool said befriender of ponies it's because death battle made Deadpool vs pinky pie from my little pony g4(which was a suprisely a successful show because the strero type girl show was being thrown out slowly) they did not kill each other....they became friends....and both had 3 things in common....having fun, think whacky and break forth walls
This is still a fun Battle, and I understand that Darkseid locked Thanos in the Omega Sanction, but really the final blow was just a simple gunshot, kinda anti climactic

Take it like this. Darkseid is essentily the kid on the playground that claims by playground powers he can't be beat no matter what compared to Thanos saying he can't be beat unless every kid in every grade either gang up on hi. Or perform a math equation he can't solve as a way to outsmart him by the end of recess.
Darkseid is just another building block in the horrific world building of DC comics that says how awful it is if you exist there. Marvel ain't much better but I mean. Disney has certainly made me forget of a lot of the really bad shit by comparison to Warner bros.
fyi, DeathBattle gets almost everything wrong, and this is a great example. the version of Darkseid they based their whole conclusion on isn't canon. it was retconned almost immediately after Morrison introduced it in Final Crisis. using *canon* versions of the characters, *Thanos would easily annihilate Darkseid.*

So how it breaks down in Ultimate power:
Thanos in one incarnation has literally destroyed the entire omniverse and then contemplated whether this act was actually satisfying to do or to win... and came to the conclusion that the journey actually mattered far more than the destination. This Thanos became the reigning god, and it was a hollow victory.
He told the current 616 version of himself of this revelation, thus altering his trajectory as a power in marvel forever. He's not really a hero or antihero, but more of a power capable of tipping or preserving the balance as need be.
Darkseid... Darkseid is literally beyond the concept of any kind of god. Darkseid is literally part of fabric of creation, ALL creation, every creation. Where there is anger there is Darkseid, where there is ambition or fear or power, there is darkseid. Darkseid cannot be destroyed without ending *all* of existence to do so, because existence does not become without Darkseid.
Darkseid has been "defeated" in the past simply because he has broken off parts of himself to oppose those he deems worthy of struggle or those whom amuse him. These facets and embodiments of Darkseid are finite. Darkseid is not.
This battle is absolutely no contest.

here's a fun fact about Darkseid: Jack Kirby, of Marvel fame, quit working for Marvel and moved to DC (the company, not the state) and created Darkseid. he actually based Darkseid from a certain austrian dictator who tried to beome a painter but instead chose a different route when he wasn't accepted into the art university. i'm of course talking about Hitler. because Jack Kirby in his younger days actually was in the second world war and fought the nazi's. He was originally going to make Thanos Marvel’s counterpart to Metron. But his boss came up to him and basically said “if you’re gonna Rip-Off a New God, at least Rip-Off the cool one.

The thing about Superman's power is this, even tho he gets his powers from yellow or blue sun rays it doesn't go away quickly if he's around a red sun. It takes time for his powers to deplete.

Generally, Darkseid would absolutely crush Thanos. This wouldn't even be close.
Although the problem with pretty much all Western comic book characters is that their powers and abilities fluctuate dramatically with the contrivances of plot. For example, one moment Superman will be tanking the multiverse pressing down on him, and the next he'll be getting punched by Solomon Grundy and it'll actually hurt him. Even though the multiverse necessarily contains every punch that Solomon Grundy could possibly throw ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE.
Characters will be powered up or de-powered depending on what the plot needs. And they'll show an ability that they'll only have for that particular plot point and then they'll forget they have it. Even though it'd be really useful for other plot moments either before or after that event.
So it's kinda difficult to scale comic book characters because it's all so arbitrary. For example, with all the abilities and powers he has, Darkseid should be totally and utterly unbeatable. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for Superman to beat him. Except he does. All the time. Because plot.
The good guy needs to win plot hurdles 😝

Also in the crossover comics Darkseid threw the infinity gauntlet calling it worthless as it only works in its own universe. Also only Darkseid's avatars have died that have less than a percent of his true power his true form has no weakness

The funny part of this battle is that they severely downplayed Thanos, putting him at Galaxy level is laughably bad. He should be millions of universe level at the bare minimum. I mean, this dude has taken on some insane characters like hulk, hercules, the Surfer, and sometimes even clutching the 1v3......... that being said, he still doesn't win, like EVER. Darkseid is like Unicron tier crazy.
