I managed to beat the damn kahl robot in under an hour, but grim took me a goddamn WEEK to finish
Honestly he's not that hard, but if you're trying to take zero damage he's definitely one of the hardest. But if you're just trying to beat him getting to his last stage with at least 2 hp is vital.
That's not what Dr. Kahl looks like.

This is only the SECOND hardest boss in the game. The hardest boss is the iron giant.

You can also use chaser as your secondary for when lobber isn't a complete option

The most notorious for the fandom were probably King Dice, Cala and Hilda. But I think we all agree the robot was f u c k i n g impossible

For me, the robot isn’t impossible since you can slowly learn his moves
The most notorious one for me is the genie. I spent an hour trying to beat him on regular, 1 day on Expert and 1 week on S ranking

The guy who made the tower model gave a presentation at a University close to where I live. He had it on display so we could see it up close. Very cool.

Every time before jumping, the fires make a unique noise (probably cheering or something).
Do your best to jump to the furthest cloud when you hear the noise. It will work most of the time.
Are you trying to say that phase 2 is the hardest phase? Or are you stating the obvious fact that a stationary, defenseless dragon is easier to deal with than the erratic fireballs flying at you that he emits?

More games need to emulate this level of creative vision without shamelessly ripping it off. So much enthusiasm went into its world and it felt fully realized without trying too hard. This is the character that comes through when a few people enjoy doing most of the work on a project.
The robot is way harder
wtf i beat the robot like at my 5th try but the fucking dragon took me a complete day
Both took me a long time but the dragon got easier every time I played it but the robot was just so annoying with its first phase

All are easy except the fucking king dice
Grim Matchstick and Dr. Kahl’s Robot both gave me such a hard time throughout the game! If you ask me, the Chaser is not such a good weapon for the former because you’re usually susceptible to getting hit when it splits into four pieces in the final phase. Thankfully, you can avoid that with the Lobber where it takes a less time to knock him out. As far as the latter is concerned, you’d be lucky to get a couple of head hits with the rocket shots given the speed the head flies. Then there’s the final phase where it’s long and a lot of it is bullet avoidance (as I like to call it).

Exactly. By the time I got to the dragon, I had all weapons, and Roundabout & Charge were my favorite, and the dragon was a piece of cake.
I'm sure that without those weapons I'd actually suffer. I mean, I suffered on the clown and the princess, who are a piece of cake with Roundabout.
The robot and King Dice are way, way, way harder.

i don't remember this one being too hard.. but the damn genie and clown was pretty freaking tough.. the robot was too, but not that bad.
Beppi took me and my brother around 250 tries smh at one point he just stopped playing because we kept dying. i beat it alone
i havent finished the game yet but im on world two im working on grim matchstick and then I will beat wally warbles becuz walls easy. The genie and the clown are soooooo annoying when I beat the clown i screamed yes. When i beat genie I screamed YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FUCK OFF

This is the most notorious boss of the game ? This was actually one of the easier bosses in the game for me ... took me about 10 times to kill him ... The mermaid boss was actually one of the hardest ones for me ....

It's the exact opposite for me. I can't for the life of me beat this dragon, but cala maria the mermaid i beat in 7 tries

I played cuphead since day one of pc.. I just got past that dragon YESTERDAY on switch.. I'm seeing the third island for the first time today haha
I haven’t faced any of the third island bosses (yet). But Grim took me about 50/60 attempts.
Considering all other bosses up to that point probably took me an average of 5 attempts, I’m not looking forward to Inkwell isle three!
I was hoping for a design discussion on the specific bullet hell challenges. There are so many varieties of it in Cuphead, it's amazing.
the 3rd phase was an absolute nightmare for me, mostly just cause i'm so used to holding down the shoot button for an entire fight, and i was just never prepared for the fire orbs, especially since they split at lightning speed :l
2 things
1. The Dragon isn't hard at all
2. You must have not played Dr. Kahl yet
The dragon comes earlier in the game and is a drastic increase in difficulty for many. The robot comes near the very end after you've had a lot of practice. I probably spent 4x the time on the dragon because of that.

I can't believe they literally described the way I learnt to beat this boss. Less movement on the second phase, less shooting on the last. I didn't really struggle that much with this one, but regardless, that is absolutely how I learnt to beat this boss. Excellent design.
I love the stock whistle they use for when fire comes out of the dragons nose. It's from the 1939 Jesse James movie's train robbery sequence, I've worked on the locomotive that made that whistle sound.
these guys are super talented and creative..and i love how they use the old cartoons for inspiration!
While I broke my deadset on the dragon the robot was harder and if I had another headset I would've destroyed it. The dragon took me a day, the robot took me 3
Cool Video! Also, pretty interesting that after Danny left to do NoClip and it's a success (because Gamespot didn't want to do it while he was there), now they're somehow finding a way to fit the same kind of format in now.

I wish more people would see that about things (even if you ignore the fact that bad fandoms still have good sides, and good people, it shouldn't be the game/show/movie/whatever that gets hated because of it).
The Cuphead fandom isn't even that bad. It's pretty tame compared to fandoms like the Undertale fandom and the MLP fandom.
This was no where near as hard as the candy castle boss to me, i spent 40 mins on the candy boss and i beat this one in about 5 mins

Candy Boss's health was bugged. Her health indicator at the end sometimes doesn't really show where her health is. That's thr only thing annoying about her.

i haven't complete the game but so far the hardest one i think is the BEE. Dragon and Candy both were not that hard for me. (i haven't yet played the junkyard robot)

Thank god they animated Grim Matchstick the way they did. If he didn't look so adorable, I would've lost my shit and rage quitted within the first three tries. But I just can't get mad at that boss. Unfortunately, fighing him involves making my right thumb sound like a cement mixer.

If the clouds’ direction on regular and expert switched, then he’ll be a cakewalk to progress but hard to S rank, considering he’s very hard on regular but a very easy boss to Perfect in Expert

Doctor Kahl's robot was pretty difficult. Just the first phase, though. Once you get past that, it's easy. I managed to get an A- minus on it.That was my only A ever.

Grim Matchstick was very hard for me on Regular and Expert, but I bought the lobber and roundabout and I beat Regular first try and Expert in five tries

Many just say the hardest is Dr kahls robot or the dragon or king dice now actually THE DEVIL is the hardest boss and I know many disagree but the dragon if you choose the right weapons and know how to diagonally shoot you're fine I'm not kidding and Dr kahls robot you need dodging skills for the end I'm sure many of you have dodged unfair stuff in many games and king dice what makes it hard it's long and also depends on what bosses you get so plan perfectly you're in for a treat while THE DEVIL ( SATAN ) IS HARD BUT YOU HAVE LEARNT the skills in other bosses and I'm sure it's a very intense and short boss so it's hard for 1min 45sec boss while average time for every other boss is about 1min 30 sec - 5min so I say SATAN is hardest.

I've noticed something many people have different opinions on a bosses difficulty like I think the ghost thrown and the pirate are easy but others find them challenging but I have a lot of trouble with Wally warbles many find him easy
I'll be honest I completely agree with this guy being one of the hardest as at the time I spent over 9 hours on this boss... not burning his soul contract... he gets no mercy

I was having a lot of trouble with the dragon so I decided to get another life in the shop and then I beat it without any damage
Only took me about 4 days to beat grim, kinda ez kinda hard
And on the first 2 days i had confidence and in cuphead, confidence makes me a bit happy
I think the worst part about the robot fight is how there is no health bar til the robot himself is destroyed. I guess it makes sense considering how youre going after the Doctor, but.... it just feels like youre making no progress in the fight, seeing that bar go nowhere after dying 20 times :p
I thought this would be more a tutorial to draw dragons, using Matchstick as an example.
Beat the dragon pretty easy, got stuck on Marina for a really long time (although i didn't realise you could go to the top to avoid getting turned to stone lol)
This boss is so strangely difficult, it seems like you would destroy it so fast but those little fire fuckers
The hardest boss for me was pyramid peril. Grimmatchstick was actually pretty fun for me and I don't regret fighting him.
Kids Free same, Pyramid Peril (Djimmi the Great) is probably the worst thing I’ve even done in Cuphead, especially on Expert where his RNG went out of control, I have to restart a lot of times
Aviary Action (Wally Warbles) and Junkyard Jive (Dr. Kahl’s Robot) didn’t even came close to giving me this much trouble comparing with the genie
Also, yeah Grim’s my favourite boss

I fucking hated this dragon so fucking much. The charge shot really helped. It's practically made for this battle. As soon as I had it I beat him in no time. But before that it was a constant stream of torture.
I think it might be odd: but I only find Grim Matchstick to be the 5th hardest boss, not the top 3 hardest, I found King Dice, Dr. Kahl’s Robot and Rumour Honeybottoms to be way harder. Personally I think he’s pretty much as hard as the devil, I died at him a Lot, but it’s because I’m stupid enough to use Spread and Chaser, I replaced with Peashooter and Lobber, and it’s a lot easier to beat, oh and expert beat him on my 2nd try. I really loved this boss
