As an aspiring musician and band kid, I adore picking apart the different moving parts of music. I adore the usage of previous tracks in the Devil’s boss fight as well as that in Saltbaker’s. I do find your method of ranking for the songs, ranking them based on how much one would probably listen to it outside of the game. If I had to say, I think King’s Court would deserve to be higher given its wonderful usage of horns that I personally never grow tired of. That as well as Junkyard Jive being as low as it is. In my opinion it perfectly captures the chaotic nature of the mad doctor and his fight. I could go on and on for ages how the different songs have different motifs and sounds to match with their bosses and fights. I just might go into detail if it’s wanted, but for now thank you for coming to my Ted talk! I recently found your channel and I am not disappointed! Keep up the good work pal!
Ok I’ve been told to cook and cook I shall, time to put on my chef’s hat I stole from Saltbaker after smacking him around! Lets start with Botanic Panic! Probably one of the most iconic intros to a cuphead boss, the start of the song perfectly encapsulates the essence of wild and sporadic chaos and panic! The wildly upbeat horns are a beauty to listen to, with the runs that occur in all parts of the song make it feel like something is always happening, even when it gets to the instrumental solos, where even the short periods of a breather is still hiding tension. The Root Pack are a great introduction to the mechanics of the game and can certainly feel like everything is everywhere when first starting out, and I believe that the music reflects that beautifully. And the rise at the 2 minute 42 second mark makes you feel an overwhelming sense of, well, panic! Even when it drops off, there’s the beat in the back that continues to keep the momentum and energetic feel until the very end as the fast pace subsides and what you’re left with is a soothing melody to congratulate you on your victory.
@FnafLuver agreed! Root pack is an amazing introductory boss both fight and music wise! I still remember the theme from my first time playing it in 2017!
bro high-noon hoopla has a special place in my heart like omg it's such a banger my personal favorites are also:bootlegger boogie, high sea hijinx, dramatic fanatic, baking the wondertart, ruse of an ooze and carnival kerfuffle (that's a lot and I think that says a lot about the OST)
Dude, I just went through the cuphead ost playlist the other day and was aghasted when I heard baking the wondertart. It was like a full story for the ears. I was wondering where you’d put that piece, and I’m glad it got the respect it deserves! What a beautiful composition.
Carnival Kerfuffle, Sugarland Shimmy, Railroad Wrath, Junkyard Jive, Aviary Action, and all the DLC bosses songs are way too good holy moly- I have bias on Fiery Frolic because Grim is my favorite character so I won't add that. Dramatic Fanatic, High-seas Hijinx, and Honeycomb Herald also are close to being S tier in my opinion.
My favourite tracks, I think, are Railroad Wrath and Aviary Action because they do so much to create a riveting and dangerous fight atmosphere. I LOVE how RW uses slides in the brass to create a train horn, and how the drums are played in a marching rhythm to replicate the train tracks. It’s so frightening and keeps you on your toes. The brass in AA is so commanding and the beat is so driving, and my favourite bit is definitely the Ride of the Valkyries sample, it feels so militaristic
I just realized I never listened to any of these in full omg, these snippets are amazing wow I also realized most of these snippets have saxophone or trumpet which is pretty cool
This tier list was great but you should’ve put both of the devil themes away from each other because one hell of a time is way better than admission to permission, love the video though! ❤
I just realized that 3 of my top 5 have sick clarient solos. I guess I have a soft spot for clarients for some reason (Aviary Action, Threatenin' Zeppelin, and Snow Cult Scuffle)
Thank you for your support! I thought I could've made the video better, but I'm still happy with how I ranked everything and wanted to be a biiit different when ranking the themes.
13:01 I think the one underrating it is you 😭😭 from what I’ve seen it’s one of the most popular tracks on the ost Overall solid list and I respect your opinion but murine corps and carnival kerfuffle’s placement left me flabbergasted (baking the wondertart placement was extremely real though my biggest complaint for the cuphead ost is that they didn’t branch out like that more because oh my god does it bang. That said I can also appreciate that it made the song stand out more & hold more weight because of its uniqueness)
20:04 Me: Pretends you didn’t use a clip from your older which boss is the hardest to S rank. (The joke is that you probably did, and I love it! Keep making these great vids man!)
when talking about admission to perdition, I don't know if your forgot to mention, or didn't realize that, there were two more boss themes you did you didn't mention! Fiery Frolic starts playing at 1:47, and clip joint calamity starts playing at 1:55! This is probably the reason why Admission to perdition is my favorite song in all the OST. I feel like it really ties to game together, especially as a final boss theme, having 2 songs from each isle in the game (Clipjoint and Floral for 1, Sugarland and Fiery for 2, and Junkyard and Dramatic for 3.)
Kristofer Maddigan from making this soundtrack is a Certified Master Chef for how much cooking he did to make these. Likely used an entire kitchen to make it.
I am a massive Esther Winchester music fan. My top 3 are all from the DLC: One Hell of a Dream, Baking the Wondertart, and High-Noon Hoopla. I find a few from Isles 2-3 a bit repetitive, such as Beppi's, Baroness's, Grimm's, and Werner's.
Shootin' and Lootin' is the undeniably the best Cuphead OST. A lot of people simply don't recognize it. Listen to it from the beginning all the way to the end. When I took a time to listen to Shootin' and Lootin' at max volume, and paid attention to each and every instrument I just felt a shiver come up my spine. The music went down so low that it hit my soul more than I hit the lobber trap on Beppi the Clown. Shootin' and Lootin' is the reason that people call music art, it is simply a song that plays in a way I've never seen before, and won't see in a long time. The song was so good that they decided to use it's slowed version in the credits rather than using some of the more iconic ones like The Kings Court or One Hell Of A Time.
Btw a fun fact: Admission to Perdition is actually a mash up of all the boss themes in Cuphead not just some besides what you mentioned, you can also here Pyramid Peril, Railroad Wrath, High-Seas Jinx, Botanic Panic, Aviary Action, and pretty much every other theme in the game, you'll just sadly never hear them because you'll only to be able to hear them later on in the song which you'll never hear until it's too little too late.
Man , i thought king dices theme was S tier , its the third most memorable track in my opinion, i respect yours though because it does drag on especially if you die ALOT to king dice and his men but it never got old to me
Yeah, it's just too repetitive for me to think that it's like a TOP tier theme. I think it's pretty good overall like all the themes in Cuphead, but I felt like I had to bump it down since other songs were more unique and/or not as repetitive
Nah, Carnival Kerfuffle is still best to me. It may be repetitive, but after some hours of torture with friend (for some reason, it is WAY more difficult during coop rather than single player, balance problems probably) I still loved it. Another way, after these hours I remembered it as a great song.
Great list! My top 5 are Baking the Wondertart, Bootlegger Boogie, Murine Corps, Snow Cult Scuffle, and Admission to Perdition. I personally think that Junkyard Jive, Ruse of an Ooze, and Aviary Action are underrated.
This video makes me want to go listen to the full ost! I don't think I ever really sat down and listened to them all, just while I was playing the game. Shame to not appreciate all the time and energy put into the music, I gotta fix that!! Maybe i'll edit this comment with my own personal fave lol.
Funny thing i've actually heared most of these ingame because i was doing a challange where i can only use the peashooter! Chef Saltbaker is a helltaker with peashooter.
Also admission to perdition makes reference to fiery frolic in minute 1:46 and clip joint calamity in min 1:54 (ignore the blue letters, go to the original song)
5:42 this and the part before with the piano doing the same melody is BY FAR my favorite part of the song, IT’S SO GOOD!!!! (This shows I do like the theme. I don’t mind the repetitive nature of the song.)
Now do the run and gun music! My favorite track in the game is coin op bop. Its just so unique and i love how it keeps getting faster throughout. Edit: Damn it, i didn't know it was cut content! 😭
I'll give my own controversial opinion, Floral Fury is probably the least interesting track in the game for me. It's carried heavily by the percussion, and the actual melodic content of the track is very simplistic. As a Latin chart, I actually think Pyramid Peril, Snow Cult, and Honeycomb are better Also the weird instrument is called a Cuico.
I think it's important to remember the context in which the music is being used for, which is precisely the reason I have to have the exact opposite opinion about Pyramid Peril and Honeycomb Herald. They are BY FAR the least interesting pieces of music in the entire OST when you're objective and focus is on beating the boss, and then you give it one to Djimmi which is one of the longest fights in the game and another to Rumor which requires a lot of focus and attention because of the platforms. You practically forget the music is playing in the background for most parts, and the percussion being a highlight in Floral Fury not only makes it stand out more from the OST, but engages you a lot more into Cagney's fight specifically. I think all the themes I've mentioned have their own issues, but Cagney's theme has much more intrigue to it than other themes, although I wouldn't have added as many percussive sections as their are currently in Floral Fury. Just to add for the end, I still think regardless that both Pyramid Peril and Honeycomb Herald are pretty boring themes when compared to the rest of the OST so my opinion is the same with or without the context.
@@MrKap That's fine when placed in the context of the bosses (although here you're also saying it's boring even on it's own, which defeats your "within context" argument) I can not reconcile calling Peril boring on its own which it's one of the more 'out there' charts. (not to mention you also put Sugarland down as not memorable, when it's the first boss chart in the game we hear that utilizes the very period appropriate Gene Krupa tom soloing, which is always memorable)
Great list! I know it's been a while since I last watched a video from you. I've been pretty busy since graduating high school in June, especially since I'm about to start college in September.
Before I got cuphead (2024) I bought the Cuphead dlc for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. And I’m happy that Floral Fury made it into Smash. That song is a banger.
I actually learned to play Junkjard Jive on tuba when I was still in music class! It's an insanely good song, and actually knowing how it's played really ups my appreciation for it. Still on the lower end of the entire ost though sadly. Thoroughly enjoyed the ranking!
Some of the songs i can say I've listened to the most is "Gnome way out" which hits hard once it's memorable, and "Bootlegger Boogie"! Also, i agree with your opinion that Esther Winchester's theme actually slaps hard! It's one of the most memorable i have :)
I did not expect High seas hi-jinx to be above floral fury, but honestly I gotta give you props. But I haven’t seen the whole list, but, I already know one hell of a dream is probably in certified banger, and I’m sorry but I don’t really like it, it’s probably my least favorite. Edit: I just saw you didn’t care to rank and it’s at the bottom. So never mind. YAAAYYY!!!
While watching these videos I’m wondering why I’m remembering these songs so well and it’s because I took so long on each of these bosses that the song is implanted in my brain
Honestly, this is a pretty solid list. Some songs are a little lower than expected, like Carnival Kerfuffle and High Noon Hoopla (especially after it was hyped up like crazy in the old S rank tier list). I'm really glad to see someone else appreciate High Sea Hijinx as much as me. No one appreciates that song for seemingly no reason.
can we get a count on how many times this man said "repetitive" also the part in snowcult shuffle that you highlighted sounds reminiscent of honeycomb herald lol
For the Wally Warbles part, trust me in general I have a huge bone to pick with especially since he was the boss I got stuck on for days when I first played Cuphead, and when I played him on expert it only made my bone even larger and my trauma against him worse
During the Saltbaker ranking when you played the song I literally started singing the lyrics like: IM SURE THE WONDERTART WILL BE DELICIOUS, YOU CAN MISS CHALICE WILL MAKE LOVELY DISHES, ONCE IVE TORN YOU! ILL REFORM YOU…
It kinda hurts me that Firey Frolic is so low, and while yes I don’t think Grim Matchstick is a good boss. But the theme is very good. One of my personal favorites. But this is your opinion and I respect it.
Everything is subjective man, I've heard every single opinion in the books. There is no "getting it right" with every single person. Just because it's in Pretty Good doesn't mean I'm underrating the theme or that it's a weak theme. It's in Pretty Good because they are pretty good! I got rid of the last tier purely out of respect for the Cuphead Music, so naturally I can't be inflating the tier list by putting too many things in the high tiers. The 2 highest tiers are saved for my top 10 favorite themes, and the rest are in an order I think fairly represents the music's feel, soundscape, and uniqueness. That's why while I genuinely enjoy Junkyard Jive, it's not a super unique piece and is quite repetitive when accounting for the entire theme, not just what you listen to during the fight. The order I really don't care about, it's more about what tier they're in than the order, but that still doesn't mean that being in Pretty Good is a low placement or me underrating it even, it's just that it's not in my top 10. That's it.
I do agree Carnival Kerfuffle is more like a song than a boss theme, it’s the only Cuphead one I’ve added to my playlist and listen to regularly lol I love it
Also why does Admission to Perdition mixing other songs like Floral Fury and Fiery Frolic remind of All Stars act 4 in Mario’s madness when Ultra M Mimics other characters in the mod. I swear I feel like I’m making a big stretch.
I think it would be cool to see some of the other themes ranked too like menu music, King Court fights, run & guns, and even the mausoleum. Funhouse Frazzle SLAPS
I love Bootlegger Boogie, I could play it all day without getting tired of it, it’s so dynamic and it makes you wanna dance. My personal top 3: 1.- Bootlegger Boogie 2.-Floral Fury 3.- High-Noon Hoopla
Mind if I ask where would you put the queen's theme from the King Of Games tournament? Those don't fully count as "bosses" and the all share the same theme, but the queen's the only exception, it's like the most bpss-feeling boss, and also I think it's flames 🔥🔥
Omg yeah, I agree with Baking The Wondertart getting a high ranking. It has such an intense feel yet it works so well with the boss and themes at play in the fight. I personally enjoyed it as a casual player :d
Fun fact for ya: I heard Honeycome Herald on my mom's local jazz radio station. As of now, it's the only song from Cuphead I know of them playing.
If there’s some way to call in to the radio station, you should recommend the remainder of the Cuphead OST 🤣
I got my dad (he’s a professional musician and leads a jazz band) to add Carnival Kerfuffle to their set list so they play it at concerts!

20:04 Me: Pretends you didn’t use a clip from your older which boss is the hardest to S rank. (The joke is that you probably did, and I love it! Keep making these great vids man!)
I think carnival kerfuffle is my favorite. Just the start makes me happy, and just a great song overall. I really don’t think they made a bad song
Bro I really loved your opinions. Your video is the best at ranking Cuphead theme boss soundtracks. Love your content ♥️
when talking about admission to perdition, I don't know if your forgot to mention, or didn't realize that, there were two more boss themes you did you didn't mention!
21:44 This point is further proven by the fact that they decided to add Floral Fury to Smash Bros.
I COMPLETELY forgot how hard Saltbaker's boss theme goes, like goddamn listen to that fiddle!!!!
I’m also Happy with Railroad Wrath’s placement. That and Floral Fury are my fav themes in the base game.
Kristofer Maddigan from making this soundtrack is a Certified Master Chef for how much cooking he did to make these. Likely used an entire kitchen to make it.
17:52 perhaps you could call it a... “beet” drop
TRUE COMEDY
GET OUT
I am a massive Esther Winchester music fan. My top 3 are all from the DLC: One Hell of a Dream, Baking the Wondertart, and High-Noon Hoopla. I find a few from Isles 2-3 a bit repetitive, such as Beppi's, Baroness's, Grimm's, and Werner's.
Putting Wally Warbles and One Hell of a Time below who let him cook is criminal
17:52 “This song has a beat drop? WHAT THE FU-“
I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS FOR SO LONG
Shootin' and Lootin' is the undeniably the best Cuphead OST.
1:14 dude i love this one so much underrated
Pyramid perril is memorable asf what are you on. I recognized the song instantly
This video makes me want to go listen to the full ost! I don't think I ever really sat down and listened to them all, just while I was playing the game. Shame to not appreciate all the time and energy put into the music, I gotta fix that!! Maybe i'll edit this comment with my own personal fave lol.
Who let MrKap COOK?! BRO THIS IS AMAZING! ABSOLUTE FIRE
All of the kings leap songs are pure S TIER! No questions!
Funny thing i've actually heared most of these ingame because i was doing a challange where i can only use the peashooter! Chef Saltbaker is a helltaker with peashooter.
6:21 they don't enjoy it because they spend 10 million years on it, I love it.
(High Seas Hi-Jinx is my least favourite tbh)
10:22 i love this song and you made me like junkyard jive 😊
A new video hooray! Keep up the good work and insane creativity how are you coming up with these
Also admission to perdition makes reference to fiery frolic in minute 1:46 and clip joint calamity in min 1:54 (ignore the blue letters, go to the original song)
One hell of a time should be S tier, It's an absolute banger
5:42 this and the part before with the piano doing the same melody is BY FAR my favorite part of the song, IT’S SO GOOD!!!! (This shows I do like the theme. I don’t mind the repetitive nature of the song.)
Cuphead truly has one of the best video game soundtracks of all time! So happy that Baking the Wondertart got the top spot! Rightfully deserved! 😃
Now do the run and gun music! My favorite track in the game is coin op bop. Its just so unique and i love how it keeps getting faster throughout. Edit: Damn it, i didn't know it was cut content! 😭
21:22 There's a reason Floral Fury was put into Smash Ultimate for when the Cuphead Mii Costume released.
I'll give my own controversial opinion, Floral Fury is probably the least interesting track in the game for me. It's carried heavily by the percussion, and the actual melodic content of the track is very simplistic. As a Latin chart, I actually think Pyramid Peril, Snow Cult, and Honeycomb are better
Also the weird instrument is called a Cuico.
Glad to see you're doing well Kylor!
Before I got cuphead (2024) I bought the Cuphead dlc for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. And I’m happy that Floral Fury made it into Smash. That song is a banger.
Great job! I'M OBSESSED WITH CUPHEAD AGAIN!
As much of a pain to play High-Noon Hoopla was, I loved its tune and a huge smile would come over my face every time the yodeling started.
I play games with music turned off for personal reasons and this video made me realise just how much i missed out of this game

THE KING DICE THEME IS IMBEDDED IN MY BRAIN IT TOOK WAY TO LONG TO BEAT HIM
I did not expect High seas hi-jinx to be above floral fury, but honestly I gotta give you props.
I was gonna say that it was a crime if you thought that moonshine mob's song wasn't S tier. (Kinda ironic if you think about it)
W list. Salt Baker on top isn't a surprise lol (I beat him for the first time on expert yay)
Thanks for the kind words!
@@MrKap 👍
You have won 30 respect from an internet stranger congratulations

Also worth to comment that floral fury has instrumentals very similar to brazilian Samba! That is just the right vibe for that boss
can we get a count on how many times this man said "repetitive"
also the part in snowcult shuffle that you highlighted sounds reminiscent of honeycomb herald lol
This is such a great tier list
Carnival Kerfuffle in “pretty good” should get you ranking License revoked
That's it.
Excellent video !
Keep it up !
Baking the wondertart is the music that i like hear when i'm stressed
I do agree Carnival Kerfuffle is more like a song than a boss theme, it’s the only Cuphead one I’ve added to my playlist and listen to regularly lol I love it
one hell of a time not being in top tier is a war crime
Also why does Admission to Perdition mixing other songs like Floral Fury and Fiery Frolic remind of All Stars act 4 in Mario’s madness when Ultra M Mimics other characters in the mod. I swear I feel like I’m making a big stretch.
I think it would be cool to see some of the other themes ranked too like menu music, King Court fights, run & guns, and even the mausoleum.
Funhouse Frazzle SLAPS
I love Bootlegger Boogie, I could play it all day without getting tired of it, it’s so dynamic and it makes you wanna dance.
My personal top 3:
1.- Bootlegger Boogie
2.-Floral Fury
3.- High-Noon Hoopla
Imma be honest, my fav is honestly um… Murine Corps and Junkyard Jive. It’s a tie between both of them. They both hit so well.
My good pal mrkap underrated man he is
Mind if I ask where would you put the queen's theme from the King Of Games tournament? Those don't fully count as "bosses" and the all share the same theme, but the queen's the only exception, it's like the most bpss-feeling boss, and also I think it's flames 🔥🔥
Omg yeah, I agree with Baking The Wondertart getting a high ranking. It has such an intense feel yet it works so well with the boss and themes at play in the fight. I personally enjoyed it as a casual player :d
clipjoint calamity deserved better. I always listen to it on spotify
Dude I just wanna say I love your channel name! Such a cool reference for anyone who gets it. Cupheads inspiration is certainly very odd.
You should make a no hit or expert gameplay, like your videos :)
