About a year ago Holy Relic builds were a thing to get you to endgame easy. The Helm Geofri's Legacy with the helm enchant was around 15-20ex. I figured out you could get the base Great Crown with the enchant for 50-100c. Since Geofri's Crest was the only unique on the base and is super common it was around 200-250 chance/scour orbs on avg and then the prophecy upgrade was 1c (I made and sold around 30+ throughout the league while playing in SSF to make a big build in trade). I was basically taking 200-250c and turning it into 15-20ex every other day. Made a fun wildstrike build because of it :)
This is the frustrating but eventually will be rewarding thing. Plain game knowledge that is only useful if no one is spreading it out on some popular TH-cam/Twitch channel. I've found past league currency strats often do work and only become useless when the inevitable TH-cam content gets made to publicize them. It's still tedious to make lots and most of the builds I play get to a 50ex budget and feel good enough, that I stop bothering.

In order for the averages to matter, to beat the RNG, you have to be in the game longer. In order to be in the game longer, you have to have enough currency to overcome an immediate, and statistically expected, possible losing streak. That is, "it takes money to make money" or.... "The rich get richer"... 2. Regarding doing well in POE, most of the advice is "the hideout is lava, go play, don't waste time." Some advice, like this video, is about knowledge. In both cases, I'm probably too lazy to ever be successful in POE. I feel like that much time and effort should go into real financial endeavors, not a video game. 3. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.
This is IRL lessons: the more currency you have, the bigger gains you can get, the better knowledge of the market, the safer investment, watch for traps of overinvestment, watch out for saturated markets. Path of Exile trade-league can be used to understand and train basic skills that can be used IRL. In some cases understanding that aspects of the game helped me gain some bonus money in a safe way and with little investment (around 6% gain when banks can offer around 1%).

Anything with spell suppress, resistance, life, will sell well. RoG is great for this. Also, you can get a melony and a 6L on your backup and level 9 gems at once. Buying div cards and exalt exchange early and sitting on them will always go up first few weeks of league while they ripen. Of you get to maps early. Just a few small things I do to get out of the gate quicker

I really didn't have enough inspiration to figure out how this earning and crafting stuff actually works. And you just give up current league and wait for next one. And each new league just create new possibilities for crafting end game gear. And you lost again.:( But then you just go common heist and get HH drop. And you don't care anymore about any crafting stuff. You just sell it, get 100 ex, and craft your build of dream, hoping it will be enough;) So my point is that you can be rich in POE knowing all this tricks of crafting and earning, but also lucky enough not to get bother. There must be some kind of universal energy at work, because every time I find some nice and very niche strat and want to start doing it, UNEXPECTEDLY, the prices for that strat are through the fucking roof before I even start doing it.
I can share my story this league. Ghastly eye jewels are really expensive this league. I started buying ilvl 83's for 2-3c each early on. Alts cost like 8-10:1c and regals are dirt cheap anyway. A jewel with the mod minion dmg when minion skill used recently together with life was like 50-60c very early in the league. I would say on average it takes like 20-30c to craft one. And by that I mean with the lowest tier of life. With T1 life for example they sold for nearly an ex, depending on what the other stat was of course. So whenever I was bored from mapping I went to craft those and made big money lol. They instantly sold too. Next one were opal rings. Crusader and Redeemer opal rings ilvl 85+ went for 1,5-2ex for a long time (Idk what they sell for rn). The conq exalts are cheap this league due to new atlas and increased drop rates. You were able to like 3 for 2ex and sometimes even 2:1. The opal ring base is like 2-3c. There was no market for them and I always made sure to have like a stock of 3-4 of them. Easy money. That's only 2 examples and those I had just running on the side. Can only agree with OP that before you buy a base check what it costs you to make it. When I started crafting double influenced astral plates for profit it was so annoying to elevate both mods myself. I started looking up what the cost of chests with just one elevated mod is and to my surprise they were rather cheap. To me it seemed like people who failed their attempt resulting in the wrong mod elevating though they were kinda worthless. More than once I was able to pick up these bases for less than an exalt when in reality it would easily cost me 5ex+ to craft one. not to mention that cost can kinda sky rocket if you lose the coin flip of elevating a lot lol. Make sure to play smart and be mindful with how you spend your currency. Think twice before you copy paste to buy an item. Pick up good habbits and save tons of currency every league :)
Good reminder! Another thing to check when pricing is "Any" instead of "Online Only" with a 1-3 day cutoff. The results will tell you if there is a market at other time-zones.
People are more likely to buy something they don’t think they can obtain on their own. That’s why the regrading lens can be so profitable. Few people realize it exists and they think they’d have to do heist to otherwise obtain the alt gem.
Profit crafting is hard though 😂😂 I recently bought all the cheap boot bases for the item I wanted to make, and after finishing them I listed them all! Only like 1 of 3 has sold though, so you have to be okay with things sitting around and not being liquid
For sure, the problem with crafting is while you may have good profit margin on your outcome. You have to account for all that goes unsold. This can run up fast. You have invested 3-4 exalts on an item you try to sell for 6 exalts. Then you don't get whisper, so you drop it down to 5. Then you get frustrated and drop it down to 4.5... and you're waiting for this meager profit. You can say it is profitable, but there's always the unsold inventory in the backstore that have costed you so much to produce. It's like, yes, you had those items you sold that make profit on their own. But until you sell your unsold inventory, you are accumulating debt on investment that haven't paid off.
I'm glad you didn't use examples of methods that currently work, cuz that would defeat the point of the video, and would simultaneously destroy the strategies. Great vid, thanks!
That is probably my only gripe about the game. I am not a crafter and just want to play, but I keep having to craft to progress and play other characters and it makes me sad. I'm excited for PoE2 simply for the fact it will reset all the mechanics to consider and hopefully go back to the game and less about the bench.
You don't have to craft if you don't want to, you can always just farm currency and buy all of your items, it is an economy based game after all. Also if you think that PoE 2 is going to somehow reset the mechanics in some super meaningful way I've got an NFT or two to sell ya as well.
Last time an Exalted orb dropped for me was in Ritual league. Coincidently thats the last league that I have enjoyed the games content. So no chance for me to ever reach the entry level to your recommended strategies, but your video was fun to watch. Thx
I made many currency this league when buying fractured belt with %Dex or %Strengh ( min 13 ), it was like 50 or 60 chaos. And then : Catalyst for attributes ---> 18%, and sell it to 1.5ex.. xD
If you're going to try this out I'd very strongly recommend checking a few videos on the affinities tab in craft of exile this will let you search by most popular ascendancies which non uniques people need and which mods then take it over to harvest and craft high demand items.

Being naïve, I bought a regular defiance banner from lilly roth and bought a prime regrading lens for 100c. I hit it with a gcp to get to 1%, then hit it with the lens. Got Anomalous, which was a 1 in 11 chance. Sometimes, I would rather be lucky than good. :)
The Annihilating Light Quarterstaff perfect roll 6 link was around 4-5 exalt a few weeks ago (idk right now). but you can purchase a perfect non 6 link for 60c and link it yourself for 2ex in harvest or amount of fusings. The market is dumb.
These tips are cool and all but you gotta keep in mind that buying a ready item is risk-free (Outside of the obvious risk of getting scammed) which means that Even if an item is like 20% cheaper to make yourself the odds are usually stacked against you and it's not worth it. So in 90% of cases it's actually cheaper to just buy the item ready
Sure in some cases but there is actually a huge amount of items you can craft that are very straightforward when it comes to obtaining them. The risk is always in the short term, if you invest small and fail you'll definitely come out behind.

The first example is not really good to make currency imo. You have an average chance of 1/11 to hit it and you make an profit of 25%, however you have to trade a lot, because most people selling the lenses dont sell in bulk. If you are unlucky, even after 20 tries you have about 15% chance of not hitting it. Flipping stuff is kinda obvious if you play the game a lot for a long time, but for people that are not super experienced it will often times be a waste of time/currency. If you find something, make a spreadsheet, calculate profit vs. risk and also count in the time you whisper other players, the availability of the needed items, as well as the demand of the items you want to sell. I would always advertise to start with "easy" stuff, that sells fast in bulk like currency, crafting materials, scarabs, emblems etc. and not with items.
Of course you won't make profits if you just do a small investment on things like the first example. Which is why I stated multiple times that you have to take the average over a long period of investing, and to double check that those items are actually selling before investing.

I made a couple divergent determinations this way. 1/6 chance to hit, sells for 10ex even corrupted. cost? about 6ex on average but I hit it in 2.

The items you talk about early in the video being nerfed, are those nerfs this league or since last league?
They happened just recently, was one of the recent hotfix patches.
